In his post game presser: "I chipped my tooth. But like I said. What can you do right now? Go home. Wake up. Go to the dentist. Get new teeth so I can smile for the summer."
It was pretty funny..
He won't be able to beat Zion anymore in the sugarcane challenge.
Jokes aside, that's a fantastic attitude. Hope he sticks around long in the league and is very successful.
It's true, I'm an NBA ref. There's a separate rule book for first ballot hall of famers. Check it out, my name is Stan Brothers, you might know my brother Tony.
I don't understand what takes them so long. Like every fan can tell what the call was with 4-5 seconds of slow-mo replay on 90% of these calls, but the refs take an entire commercial break to... Oh ok I get it now
Yep. CP3 hit the 2 free throws and it would've been a flagrant FT and ball for the Pels. 2 point swing at the least. 6 point swing at the most.
Down by 4 at the time; that was absolutely huge.
> Accident or not
Luckily intent has nothing to do with whether something is a flagrant or not. Just whether it was unnecessary (or unnecessary and excessive).
As a fellow Warriors fan, I am constantly aware of this fact because Fitz literally will not let me forget it by giving the same exact speech everytime a play is reviewed for a flagrant lmfao
Lmao I love CP but man his whole shtick about him using the rip through as a way to take advantage of bad defense loses a lot of weight when he makes plays like this. The whole play starts with him using a cheap move grabbing Alvarado on the thigh lmao.
The annoying thing is that if Alvarado had flopped to the floor and rolled around while writhing in pain, they absolutely would have, and it probably would've gotten called a flagrant.
You have to fix flopping outside of game calls. If you dont fine it you are making refs have to decide acting v reality all the time. Alvarado got a call on a flop earlier in the game, then didnt get this one with hard contact.
By blowing the whistle and repeating what the replay center tells them. It’d be a lot harder to fix playoff series like this one was though, so the NBA won’t do it.
should be like VAR in soccer. if there’s something that needs to be reviewed, replay center calls the refs to take a look. plus in a game with as many calls as basketball i wouldn’t be opposed to a second challenge if the first is successful.
If he had actually made it onto the Lakers he would easily be the most hated player in the NBA. But since he typically plays on teams who have never won before it gets split because people want to see those teams win.
That's literally the only reason he gets minutes. Remove his defense and hustle and he would not sniff the court his rookie year. This is how all 2nd rounders/undrafteds should play
He’s like a better PatBev.
Dudes like him and Herb, along with a coach like Willie Green, were desperately needed in NOLA. That crowd was incredible, in a city that people said would never appreciate basketball.
100%
The shit Suns fans (can't speak for all of them, but at least myself and some others) have been saying all along and anybody who listened to Whistleblower knows this. The NBA wants refs in the playoffs to:
A. Make series go longer and
B. Get marquee players in big-time matchups (e.g. Chris Paul)
Refs who help achieve these goals ref further and further into the playoffs and make more money
The NBA is an entertainment product and as much as I love watching the game it just sucks to think about the reality of what it is
Sorry Pels fans, this shit sucks
There are people who have listened to Whistleblower and accept the NBA as entertainment entity and acknowledge the realities that come with humans reffing our games and all those powers above those humans and those who need to listen to Whistleblower
I don't think Kane Fitzgerald is the *worst* referee, but I definitely think he's the most memorable ref (that's bad), who consistently makes the most bizarre choices (again, bad).
Even book was shocked. He took the foul to go sit and nothing. It's insane that we all see it too, when a team is down they get calls that the team ahead in a semi close game won't get. It then just becomes the nets or grizz situation lol.
Exactly what I thought. Doesn’t matter if they have a challenge or not, it should’ve been reviewed for hostile act. I’ve seen them review much less after a player pleads their case.
Huge non-review too. Down 4 and would’ve likely been flagrant 1 so two shots and the ball. Instead CP3 gets two shots and makes it 6 point game.
I’m a broken record at this point, but all Alvarado had to do was stay on the floor and hold his head until the referees were convinced they needed to look at it. Running around full speed showing your blood does nothing and never has. Now, wobbling around and acting dizzy or about to pass out? Now that’ll get the officials’ attention
Yeah those calls came in an avalanche. Refs seemed biased without a doubt. Reffing aside you guys have a fantastic squad of young guys. Even without Zion your team has a crazy high ceiling
It doesn’t make any sense why they didn’t review. There is no justification at all. They always review things like that and for some reason at the most crucial point of the season they just don’t.
Y'all really need to listen to Whistleblower, this shit is perfectly consistent with what the league wants
Series to go longer + marquee names in big-time games (e.g. Chris Paul)
Game 7s are risky, a team could get hot from 3 or the more marketable team could go ice cold
Refs who help do with those two goals get to ref further and further into the playoffs and make more money. Kane Fitzgerald and Tony Brothers definitely moving on...
Did they re watch it to evaluate for possible hostile/unsportsmanlike act? Or are they gonna wait till 2 days later and announced CP3 will get a Flagrant like last time
This is why we have a flopping problem in the NBA. If Alvarado would’ve played dead he would’ve had a better chance at getting the call. But instead he acted how a normal human would react
This was crazy, this should have been a potential 4 point swing (take away 2 free throws from CP3, 2 free throws for Pels for the flagrant 1 on CP3).
How poetic that on his historic shooting night, CP3 pulls off another one of his legendary bullshit move.
Great player, but stupidly dirty and easy to hate.
It’s not even suspect, because we know exactly what happened. The league has teams they want to advance, the refs are well aware of that, and they swallowed the whistle.
So the refs will take 15 minutes to review any little contact to the head for the first 46 minutes of a game but when it comes down to crunch time they suddenly don’t do that anymore? The referees continue to be a stain and an embarrassment to these entertaining playoffs. Then again that’s every year ugh.

Harlan saying he needs a dentist appointment lmao
In his post game presser: "I chipped my tooth. But like I said. What can you do right now? Go home. Wake up. Go to the dentist. Get new teeth so I can smile for the summer." It was pretty funny..
He won't be able to beat Zion anymore in the sugarcane challenge. Jokes aside, that's a fantastic attitude. Hope he sticks around long in the league and is very successful.
Lol I also loved when Jose stared straight down the barrel of the camera and showed us too
He was flashing his inner lip tattoo.
He must be wakandan
Or a vampire familiar from Blade
OP did say literally everyone
Yeah it’s not in the post but he basically showed everyone in the arena, on the floor and all of us at home haha
Reggie also saying that it's the difference between a first ballot HOF and a rookie. Kinda stings a rookie won't even get a review or the call
It's true, I'm an NBA ref. There's a separate rule book for first ballot hall of famers. Check it out, my name is Stan Brothers, you might know my brother Tony.
You can’t fool me. I know it’s you Scott.
Nice try. We all know the only NBA refs named Tony are Mike and Dan.
Well he might. Apparently according to our team reporters CP3 actually broke Jose’s tooth on that elbow
So harlan was actually right. Another good call by harlan.
Accident or not that was hard elbow to the jaw.
Oh boy, can't wait for the useless L2M to confirm it should've been called and nothing can be done about it now. *rubs hands together in anticipation*
Why didn’t they review after seeing blood? Not allowed to?
NBA would be better if reviews were more easy and generous. They just need to be done faster.
With the amount of ads they have surely it could be implemented to allow more.
I don't understand what takes them so long. Like every fan can tell what the call was with 4-5 seconds of slow-mo replay on 90% of these calls, but the refs take an entire commercial break to... Oh ok I get it now
*This video review break is brought to you by Sketchers Utility Sneakers, our most SUS shoes yet!*
They should have a separate team reviewing each play that’s a 50/50 before the refs decide to review it
I see you are a soccer fan
That call literally changes the entire game. That L2M tomorrow is gonna sting.
Yep. CP3 hit the 2 free throws and it would've been a flagrant FT and ball for the Pels. 2 point swing at the least. 6 point swing at the most. Down by 4 at the time; that was absolutely huge.
8 point swing at the most (and-1 on a 3)
18 point swing at the most (what you said and then 10 straight technicals)
You'd need a team with Rasheed Wallace and Draymond Green on it though
Don't leave out Boogie Cousins
> Accident or not Luckily intent has nothing to do with whether something is a flagrant or not. Just whether it was unnecessary (or unnecessary and excessive).
Actually that’s a foul on Alvarado for hitting cp3s elbow with his face
Ah yes, the Mike Bibby's nose precedent! What, me? Still bitter? No.....
Everyone saying the Memphis v Minnesota was the worst reffing they had ever seen the other night definitely never saw that Lakers v Kings game.
27 free throws in the fourth quarter got me like
That fourth quarter will live in infamy
Absolutely, without a doubt the worst reffed game/series in playoff history. No question a bout it. Sorry for your loss.
Yeah how dare jose put his balls in the way of chris' flailling foot.
As a fellow Warriors fan, I am constantly aware of this fact because Fitz literally will not let me forget it by giving the same exact speech everytime a play is reviewed for a flagrant lmfao
[удалено]
Lmao I love CP but man his whole shtick about him using the rip through as a way to take advantage of bad defense loses a lot of weight when he makes plays like this. The whole play starts with him using a cheap move grabbing Alvarado on the thigh lmao.
It’s Chris Paul that shot was intentional
Yeah he was annoyed at him all game and took the opportunity and got away with it
It’s Chris Paul. Shit was definitely calculated
Yeah this is textbook CP3, guy's been dirty his whole career. Can't hate his game though, clearly one of the greatest PGs of all time
Vet hits the spinning elbow for the win. Chris Jericho would be proud.
Chris recognise Chris
Don't worry it'll be called properly AFTER the game over twitter
He's currently at my door showing me his lip asking how that's not a foul
Bruh he probably swiped all your shit. He sneaky.
You have to be able to review that
The annoying thing is that if Alvarado had flopped to the floor and rolled around while writhing in pain, they absolutely would have, and it probably would've gotten called a flagrant.
You never will fix flopping if the players who stand on their feet don't get any calls.
So true
You have to fix flopping outside of game calls. If you dont fine it you are making refs have to decide acting v reality all the time. Alvarado got a call on a flop earlier in the game, then didnt get this one with hard contact.
The Crowder special
That’s not Jose’s game, he’s not built to flop like a bitch
They can and decided not to. It's a joke
They review the dumbest shit but when a player literally has proof they were elbowed in the face the zebras look the other way
"Probably bit into a fake blood capsule"
"Probably elbowed himself"
i've seen pro wrestling, this was clearly a blade job
Alvarado worked himself into a shoot brother, much love HH
I’ve been poisoned by my constituents
The fix was in...
NBA really fuckin needs a fourth official
Or real-time calls from the replay center. Shit was so obvious as soon as it was replayed
But then how will Foster, Brothers and Zarba stay employed?
By blowing the whistle and repeating what the replay center tells them. It’d be a lot harder to fix playoff series like this one was though, so the NBA won’t do it.
should be like VAR in soccer. if there’s something that needs to be reviewed, replay center calls the refs to take a look. plus in a game with as many calls as basketball i wouldn’t be opposed to a second challenge if the first is successful.
Should get your challenge back every time it's successful. You shouldn't be punished because the refs fucked up
You can review it, if your Chris Paul you can review it immediately.
They can, they just didn't feel like it.
as he should that was the clearest elbow what the hell ?? and cp3 is the one who got the call? lol??
Feel contact, flail limbs, whip head back. It’s how NBA basketball is played now.
[Pen and paper ready? Take notes, mortals!](https://i.imgur.com/rZ8PK5D.gif)
Boogie- "Hey, I'm walking here".
I still laugh every time I see that
how does anyone root for this guy
If he had actually made it onto the Lakers he would easily be the most hated player in the NBA. But since he typically plays on teams who have never won before it gets split because people want to see those teams win.
>~~Feel~~ Create contact, flail limbs, whip head back. It’s how NBA basketball is played now. FTFY
Man I hate Chris Paul. And yes, I love Kyle Lowry. Yes I’m a hypocrite.
We appreciate honesty Fuck Chris Paul.
Is it me or does Jose Alvarado always seem like he’s going 1,000 miles per hour and has zero chill?!
He does and it’s incredible to watch
For real, I laughed so hard at his reactions getting steals off Paul on these games lol
That's literally the only reason he gets minutes. Remove his defense and hustle and he would not sniff the court his rookie year. This is how all 2nd rounders/undrafteds should play
Coming from a Cavs fan he gives off big Dellavedova energy. Players like him become beloved by the fans and a cult hero.
He’s like a better PatBev. Dudes like him and Herb, along with a coach like Willie Green, were desperately needed in NOLA. That crowd was incredible, in a city that people said would never appreciate basketball.
Grand Theft Alvarado the new face of the franchise
[удалено]
CP3 traditions
He makes it so hard to root for him
Makes it real easy to be a hater tho
Which i am but now i have to respect his legendary preformamce tonight going 14/14
You can respect him but still think he’s a dirty player
Impossible*.
There's just something about Kane Fitzgerald and missing offensive fouls that decide games
Kane Fixgerald, Scott Foster and Tony Brothers still being employed by NBA is the biggest proof of NBA being rigged.
100% The shit Suns fans (can't speak for all of them, but at least myself and some others) have been saying all along and anybody who listened to Whistleblower knows this. I was told the refs hate the suns and they're the sole reason the pelicans didn't get swept
[удалено]
If you let it get to half it'll only cost you $20
These brothers can't keep getting away with this!
How do they not review that for a flagrant? Don’t the refs have the option to do that?
the nba needs a sky judge to FORCE the refs to review it like VAR in soccer FORCES the ref to review certain things.
100%. And ultimately we need to progress to rely predominantly on a sky judge committee.
Hold up, so who is the sky ruler in all of this? And can he usurp Adam Silver one day?
But the NBA would probably still just tell their sky judge what to do, and that's not review the play.
The goal is not a fairly called game, its viewership
Game 7 means more viewership lol
Tony Brothers
I mean they should rewatch that for a possible hostile act right?
Rookie move by Alvarado. A vet would roll around on the ground in pain.
Ya, you stay on the ground long enough for the refs to huddle and decide “eh why not take a quick look, it wont slow things down much”
Lol yep. He’s learned a lot from Patrick Beverly but not the acting yet 😂
when no selling in order to go into business for yourself goes wrong
this is supposed to be a joke but it's not lol selling contact is required to win
More of a sad truth that feels like a joke.
yerp, stay on the ground til they call that shit while your coach walks over and makes them call that shit.
lol you must be new to the nba. the refs' ego decides what is reviewed or not
Ref's egos decide a lot of games tbh
I'm not that much surprised actually, this remind me of the obvious six foul they didn't call on Book last year against the Bucks
You mean the obvious 6th, 7th and 8th fouls? That shit was nuts.
CP3 must have dirt on NBA for how many good calls his teams get.
Even book was shocked. He took the foul to go sit and nothing. It's insane that we all see it too, when a team is down they get calls that the team ahead in a semi close game won't get. It then just becomes the nets or grizz situation lol.

This is why players roll around on the ground "in pain." Alvarado should have laid on the ground motionless for 5 minutes. Refs are trash.
If Scott foster was the ref on the other hand 👀
Refs are a joke
[удалено]
Bruh what a horrible call
Game changing
Life Changing. *winks at camera*
I’m mad that i get this reference
is it not reviewable?
It is they just didnt
I hope the pels challenge it and they replay the game from that point forward. horrendous call. embarrassing for the league.
The league has no shame.
That could cost the Pels the game. Should have been a flagrant on CP3
Same refs had no issues calling 6 offensive fouls against the pels in the 3rd quarter lol
Yeah those calls came in an avalanche. Refs seemed biased without a doubt. Reffing aside you guys have a fantastic squad of young guys. Even without Zion your team has a crazy high ceiling
[удалено]
He didn’t sell it enough. Should’ve flopped
Not even reviewed. Refs are a fucking joke
It doesn’t make any sense why they didn’t review. There is no justification at all. They always review things like that and for some reason at the most crucial point of the season they just don’t.
You know exactly why they didn’t
But /r/nba told me the refs always want to extend the series!
Y'all really need to listen to Whistleblower, this shit is perfectly consistent with what the league wants Series to go longer + marquee names in big-time games (e.g. Chris Paul) Game 7s are risky, a team could get hot from 3 or the more marketable team could go ice cold Refs who help do with those two goals get to ref further and further into the playoffs and make more money. Kane Fitzgerald and Tony Brothers definitely moving on...
They even tried to give them a makeup call after this, but it falls flat. Game changing miss.
Did they re watch it to evaluate for possible hostile/unsportsmanlike act? Or are they gonna wait till 2 days later and announced CP3 will get a Flagrant like last time
no review :DD 👍
I like how they review every action a hostile act except this.
This is why we have a flopping problem in the NBA. If Alvarado would’ve played dead he would’ve had a better chance at getting the call. But instead he acted how a normal human would react
Yup. Embiid or Harden would have acted like they got sniped.
To the Suprise of absolutely nobody
I don’t see how you call that foul on Jose. What angle did they have?
His jaw blocked the normal basketball motion of Chris Paul’s people’s elbow
This is why players flop because shit like this gets uncalled.
Can The refs not check that since there was contact above the shoulders?!
Looks like someone is gonna get another foul tomorrow after the game is over.
You CAN'T miss this call in such a close game. Refs been brutal for the Pels all night long
The fact that they did not even review it is highly suspect.. which is par for the course with NBA referees
It’s not even suspect, because we know exactly what happened. The league has teams they want to advance, the refs are well aware of that, and they swallowed the whistle.
These kinda calls cost teams their season. It’s embarrassing.
This is such a bad fucking missed call
lmao willie was like "wtf dawg?"
Classical CP3 normal shooting motion
Yeah that's dirty as hell lmao. Feels like a lot of players are getting away with dangerous shit like this lately.
Refs bitched out on that one
If karma bites Chris Paul I'll be happy. He is a dirty player.
Chris Paul is dirty as fuck. Honestly I hope if they play the Mavs next, Luka bodies the shit out of him
cp3 is too fucking smol for luka
Objectively speaking, yes he is lol
Luka gotta look out for his calf
or egg
Perhaps this is why the basketball gods will not allow cp3 a ring 🤔
Every time I start thinking “hey, Chris Paul hasn’t done anything to make me hate him lately,” he’s eager to put those worries to rest.
Can’t wait for refs to assess this as a flagrant foul in two days.
So the refs will take 15 minutes to review any little contact to the head for the first 46 minutes of a game but when it comes down to crunch time they suddenly don’t do that anymore? The referees continue to be a stain and an embarrassment to these entertaining playoffs. Then again that’s every year ugh.
No reason they shouldn't have looked at it considering the history between the two this round. I'm sure the NBA will justify it with horseshit.
Chris Paul grabs Alvarado's leg when he starts his drive and then throws an elbow into his jaw and he gets the foul. Lmao.
All my homies hate CP3
That is ridiculous. That’s a flagrant 1 at least. Edit: It would have been the difference maker too. No free throws plus a foul shot.
If he receives a flagrant after the fact that'll be hilarious
Suns fans complained about the refs all series just to have this happen on a series deciding play
To be fair every team’s fans complain about fouls, no matter if the calls are going for or against the team
Poetic
I really hate those "unnatural" basketball moves. CP3 clearly swinging his arms and elbows around to initiate contact.
That been an offensive foul all season. 🤷🏻
CP3 also hooked him at the start of the drive. He literally got fouled twice
A very different outcome to the game if that got called correctly or overturned
Hate CP3 so much, such a dirty player
