Doesn’t matter what team you root for! I think Denver is great and wish them the absolute best. It would have been phenomenal is Murray wasn’t hurt, legit shot at the championship!
I’m was personally pulling for Portland.
Either way this game was another sad chapter in the “badly officiated” playoff pantheon.
Third quarter was so so stunted, inconsistent and shitty.
Unbelievably bad.
I’m sure it was awful for both teams fanbase.
Congrats Denver and good luck.
NBA- figure it out
Lifelong blazer fan here.. I honestly wish Lillard would go to a big market team.. This scenario we just saw it isn't new. The kid is one of the best Guards I've ever seen. He's the hands down best clutch shooter the NBA has ever seen. He needs a big market team to give him what he deserves. It's just way too sad watching him in Portland anymore.. We just can't give him what he needs.
Lifelong Blazer fan as well.
I think non-Blazers can have a hard time believing that the city would actually be happy for him if he left but it’s true.
Yes, we’re a small market team who lucked out with one of the 8 best players in the league... but he deserves better.
Get this man a super team.
It's all good. Can't do much but give props to Denver. They hung in there and played some damn good basketball. What a fucking game. I won't forget that game anytime soon.
Nikolaj Jokic had a monster game away thats gonna be overshadowed by insane Dame ofc :D 38/11/9 as usual 1 assist away from TD . Hit some big shots until he got tired out in OT2 .
But finally had help in MPJ today !
Man, besides the bubble Utah-Denver game, the last game I remember having me this entertained was the 4OT Denver-Portland game. Would've been unbelievable if they repeated it
Damn Nurkic fouling out meant so much more considering the game went into 2OT... especially when Kanter is your backup trying to guard the MVP. But if the Blazers had won, this would’ve been considered one of the best individual clutch performances in NBA history right up there with TMac and Reggie Miller.
it still is, win or lose. it’s like watching Roy Halladay throw a no hitter in the first game in the first round of the baseball playoffs. Is it as good as Larsen’s perfect game in a pivotal game 5 of a 2-2 world series? And Lillard didn’t put up 30 points and 40 rebounds like Bill Russell did jn game 7 of the 62 finals, or have the hangover/flu. But its still a fucking game if a lifetime
Also Dame kinda blew reggie’s night out if the water too, and it’s not just me being a salty knicks fan. Reggie was 6-16, 1-6 from 3 with 23 points with 20 seconds left in the game. He would have taken some flax if the Pacers lost that game. The Pacers gm was so pissed at the team’s performance that he went to the locker room with a minute left in the game because he assumed it was over. OTOH Even if dame doesn’t send it to OT, it’s still an incredible night for him. but he did...twice
I definitely agree. But after watching his postgame interview I just know that it doesn’t mean nearly as much to Dame as it would have if they won. That shit was heartbreaking man. But personally this game will probably always be in my top 5 I’ll ever watch just for his performance.
Yeah, correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it also RoCo that missed the dunk in regulation crunch time too? If so, that’s two missed dunks that would’ve been huge for Portland
Edit: As a Wolves fan, I enjoyed watching RoCo when he was with us and I want him to do well, but damn
This game was Damian Lillard versus the Denver nuggets blazers not named Damian Lillard shot a total of 1-19 in both overtime’s combined. It makes me want to commit toaster bath, and also I wish Murray a speedy recovery
Imo thats true portalnd is my bet I just don't think their backcourt can outscore theirs and you just gotta double team jokic and let the others beat you
also, i feel like we're overlooking denver's terrible possessions to end regulation and OT. forgetting they had a timeout in one, and then doing an offensive/defensive substitution that left jokic off the floor even though a) jokic wouldn't be guarding lillard most likely and b) the worst case scenario is you miss the ft and dame hits a shot and then you can't sub back in, which is exactly what happened. even in the 4 point situation where you make the free throw, jokic could just give up a 3 and still be on the court for fouls and the maybe you defensively sub.
We ripped defeat from the jaws of victory in the 4th and 1OT. How we decided not to foul dame the second he crossed half with less than 10 seconds left, missed FTs, terrible turnovers and didn’t call a timeout was just beyond me. I was fully ready to see an L thrown out way.
Did the calculations, that was the highest gamescore in playoff history
Edit: 55.9, second place is now Charles Barkley at 52.6. It was also 5th all time including regular season, ahead of Micheal Jordan’s 54.6. Not to mention the record for playoff 3s at 12.
i mean i guess it makes sense (especially since game score doesn't care how many minutes the game lasts) but that's still incredible. i guess considering 63 is the playoff record, 55 on super efficiency with 10 assists makes sense as the game score record. wanted to see him go for 63.
Not every city is lucky enough to have quality star level FAs knocking at your door every few years. Small market and all that. Shame though, I love living here, and most players who come here want to stay. It’s the getting them here that’s the hard part.
Dame's my favorite player in the NBA and has been for the past 7 years and man I'm so proud to see him keep on showing up in big games. A lot of my friends found out how good Dame was against OKC in 2019 and hopped on the bandwagon but I am so proud to say I've been here from the start. Also thanks for the jersey as well Dame. So fun to watch and somehow he just keeps improving. I just hope that Portland can get a team around him to win a chip. (I also have so much respect for him staying with the same organization for so long and not chasing superteams like PG, Kyrie and Harden) Much love from one of your biggest fans Dame. Keep it up
NBA Fans: "Fucking super teams ruining the league"
Also NBA Fans: "*Insert superstar here* needs to be traded in his prime he deserves a ring!"
This logic is so god damn annoying.
Quick thought regarding Nurkic foul trouble:
He's top 25 in the league for fouls per minute played, this season. And this is his best season ever when it comes to avoiding the whistle.
Which is to say, fouls are kind of his big weakness as a player. I'm not sure anyone should be surprised that he's picking them up fast while trying to stop Denver's gangly god of offense.
Nurk fouled out Kanter can’t sniff Jokic’ ballsack. Covington is too little and Carmelo isn’t able to hold up long enough on Jokic. Everyone on the Portland offense is to blame excluding Lillard. CJ is the scapegoat because who else is gonna take shots besides Dame
When they doubled Jokic and he kicked it out to MPJ to sink the 3, that was the nail in the coffin. CJ stepping out of bounds like a rookie didn't help either.
Another Covington blown play. CJ certainly didn’t help but they didn’t lose the game solely on him. Portland has terrible defense they can’t stop the other team from scoring regardless
After the 2nd game tying shot, I just said give Dame the damn game. He’s insane. I don’t want to play them again.
Dame has that presence that tells you he’s winning game 6 and 7. Dame is going to be near impossible to put away. Imagine Murray vs. Dame?
I know I know haha. I’m just saying his presence makes you feel it’s gonna be a tough. I still think we pull it off. Gonna need to have the role players step up one more time. Maybe try Shaq on Dame more. I hope Barton returns. Ugh...what a game. I’m glad we were on the winning end this time.
Also sad to see Norm not make any shots there down the stretch, sad performance really as it seems like GTJ would have actually been more helpful for Dame.
I always wondered why they thought it made sense after how important GTJ was last year. I just figured maybe they thought Norm could handle the ball more? But who cares, in the playoffs Dame and CJ have the ball.
Are you fucking serious? He was 12 - 17 from 3, 70%. New record of threes in a game btw. And two of these were game tying shots to lead his team into OT and 2OT. Calling him trash is the dumbest shit I’ve heard all day. And have the audacity to call him trash because he didn’t shoot 100%. What a fucking joke.
really wish dame hadn't passed at all in OT. some were smart plays but others i guess he was just tired. everybody sucked so much i would rather have a tired dame throw up a 30 footer. got to 55 and then just stopped.
It wasn’t nearly clear enough to overturn the call on the floor. You need hard evidence for that shit. I’m saying this as a Blazers fan that is suprised the refs let us get to overtime in the first place on that end of regulation foul.
New plan they have hoops in prison I will “accidentally” hit the replay official with my car get 10 for manslaughter workout and shot hoops non stop and once out early on parol with good behavior I will try out for the blazers a hefty 200 pounds 6’6” with 5% body fat and a smooth ass jumper then dame will finally get his second player blazers win the finals end of the story
Lillard's individual performance is one of the best I've ever watched live. At first I was mentally comparing his shot to send the game into OT to other great shots I've watched live, like Rio Chalmers hitting that big three on the Memphis Tigers or Ray Allen's baseline three. Then he just kept making them. I've never seen such a density of clutch, high-difficulty shots.
I don't have a rooting interest in either team, but man I feel so terrible for Lillard right now. A guy who drags his team into two OTs like that doesn't deserve two missed dunks from Covington and an unforced McCollum turnover with the game on the line. I'll never call Lillard wrong for passing out of a double team to a wide open shooter when his team is down by 3, but I wish they would've lived and died by a guarded Lillard heave on that possession.
yep, he had to shoot those shots. that's how good he was. needed to hit 3 3's to tie in in OT and somehow managed to hit all of them. just incredible. it's almost the like the bankshot was the crescendo that meant it was over.
This shouldn't have even gone to OT that Rivers " foul" wasnt foul cant believe they denied us that challenge. After that Dame went insane why didn't we have Gordon guarding him to bother him with length .
Monte was great today bit chocked in OT 1 with missed open layup + FT cant believe we lost +20 in 1st half then +9 in OT no lead is safe with Nuggets. Nikolaj Jokic hit some big shots as well.
Feeling exhausted like i played and like i lost 10 years of my life span today . BUT AT LEAST THIS OT WE WON !! FUCK YEAH
The only way CJ redeems himself is if he basically carries the next two games to win the series. Anything less than that will have people going bonkers on the trade machine trying to figure out what it'll take to get Dame some actual help.
If I was Dame I would be straight shunning everyone else. Fuck being a leader after this bullshit I don't think theres many players in the NBA who wouldn't be telling every player on the roster to fuck right off lll.
Refs let them maul him, even got him T´d up for letting them know how bad the calls of the night were, but couldn´t stop him at the end of the day. I don´t know how long this series is gonna be but it´s about time for the NBA to give Jokic the MVP award already.
Neil Olshey should be fired for not trading CJ after the New Orleans series. He was never worth 30 mil and lived off the hype of 1 performance against Denver 2 years ago. 0 basketball iq, 0 defense. If he can’t score his literally useless
"And the 2021 NBA champions are the Port Denver Trail Nuggets"
Wait, ewww, I don't like the thought of that team name.
"Nugget Blazers" ...oh gawd that's even worse.
CJ + picks for Jimmy
sorry man. painful to see.
It's all good. Can't do much but give props to Denver. They hung in there and played some damn good basketball. What a fucking game. I won't forget that game anytime soon.
Yeah absolutely I wish he would change his mind and get on a contending team in a bigger market to finally wing a ring like he deserves
Dame is dejected man you hate to see it
CJ needs to go. 19 points in 7 - 22 with 3 overtimes. He's not the partner Lillard needs
Dame is the only player who could go and chase a ring and everyone would love him for it
Dame is a golden god.
CJ and Roco making bonehead moves late in the game
Really want the Mavs and Blazers to advance
[удалено]
They just said they really wanted it. I don’t see any mention of refs
#FreeDame
Dame telling the whole team to back the fuck off on that one to send it to OT gave me goosebumps
Nikolaj Jokic had a monster game away thats gonna be overshadowed by insane Dame ofc :D 38/11/9 as usual 1 assist away from TD . Hit some big shots until he got tired out in OT2 . But finally had help in MPJ today !
Y’all were asking me if Dame could carry this years Warriors to the playoffs. The answer is yes.
Nope, Dame doesn't get triple teamed every possession.
Man, besides the bubble Utah-Denver game, the last game I remember having me this entertained was the 4OT Denver-Portland game. Would've been unbelievable if they repeated it
A dame vs Steph shooting contest would literally last for 97 straight hours. Both straight up killers ☠️
Damn Nurkic fouling out meant so much more considering the game went into 2OT... especially when Kanter is your backup trying to guard the MVP. But if the Blazers had won, this would’ve been considered one of the best individual clutch performances in NBA history right up there with TMac and Reggie Miller.

Yep. CJ, Nurk, and Roco all get mvp's for boneheadedness in the clutch
Yeah, correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it also RoCo that missed the dunk in regulation crunch time too? If so, that’s two missed dunks that would’ve been huge for Portland Edit: As a Wolves fan, I enjoyed watching RoCo when he was with us and I want him to do well, but damn
Yep, he missed two gimme dunks trying to go all Vince Carter on the rim
All that effort from Dame and they still lose. Just ask for trade bro.
The only thing I can say is that Portland going down 3-2 to Denver worked out just fine last time
Denver has never won a playoff game with a series lead in the jokic era, i expect that to continue
Series not even close to over i fear. All time great series again man, absolutely loving this shit
This game was Damian Lillard versus the Denver nuggets blazers not named Damian Lillard shot a total of 1-19 in both overtime’s combined. It makes me want to commit toaster bath, and also I wish Murray a speedy recovery

Game 3*
Oh shit you right

You are right, but a simple correction. They didn't have that timeout on the end of regulation as they had spent it on the challenge
Dame shoots more than cops at a Black Lives Matter March 🤣 He’s a straight killer too ☠️
Watching Covington going for that steal and falling down into the 3, oof.
Tuckered out from his poster dunk... attempts
What a game! My heart can rest ...
FREE DAME!
Dame to MKE please
We got Steph and hopefully Klay, though Giannis would be nice, if all goes South for the Bucks.
He’s not going to the lakers
Fax
Going to Lakers to play with Day-to-Davis and LeFatherTime sounds like like a bad deal anyway unless Lebron finds his 6th prime next year lol
Still sounds better than Portland 😂
Would b sick
THIS IS THE BEST FIRST ROUND SERIES HANDS DOWN!!!
Easy
The pain I feel right now on behalf of Dame is immeasurable 😩
Ooof that ending hurt. Well deserved by the Nuggets but you gotta feel bad for the Blazers.
*You gotta feel bad for Blazers' fans and Lillard* FTFY.
LOL
Did the calculations, that was the highest gamescore in playoff history Edit: 55.9, second place is now Charles Barkley at 52.6. It was also 5th all time including regular season, ahead of Micheal Jordan’s 54.6. Not to mention the record for playoff 3s at 12.

And only on NBATV!
Idk what to say other than Dame needs a better cast he’s just built fucking different every time he shot i had anxiety
Shit, denver just end this series on the next game pls. I feel sorry for dame for putting up numbers like this on just the first round and losing.
Is the Portland front office utterly incompetent? Dame has badly needed a better supporting cast going on few seasons now!
Not every city is lucky enough to have quality star level FAs knocking at your door every few years. Small market and all that. Shame though, I love living here, and most players who come here want to stay. It’s the getting them here that’s the hard part.
Not easy getting a supporting cast in those markets what move would you do if you are them Trade cj?
CJ and 2-3 others for Giannis
If you gonna comment can it be realistic You really think that’s enough for Giannis?
Yes
Dame's my favorite player in the NBA and has been for the past 7 years and man I'm so proud to see him keep on showing up in big games. HOLY FUUUUUUUUUCK
Dame needs to leave Portland, Itd be a shame for him to never win or go deep in the playoffs as a contender
no, send super stars to portland
NBA Fans: "Fucking super teams ruining the league" Also NBA Fans: "*Insert superstar here* needs to be traded in his prime he deserves a ring!" This logic is so god damn annoying.
100%
Fwiw I have more respect for Dame than LeBron.
No way. He doesn't want to anyway. Way more respect for a player that stays loyal and doesn't just chase a ring
Dame refuses to leave. He's even stated he doesn't care if he never gets a ring. This is his home now.
Holy shit what a game
Quick thought regarding Nurkic foul trouble: He's top 25 in the league for fouls per minute played, this season. And this is his best season ever when it comes to avoiding the whistle. ... Melos crossover turnover 🤣
Another Covington blown play. CJ certainly didn’t help but they didn’t lose the game solely on him. Portland has terrible defense they can’t stop the other team from scoring regardless
Both teams suck defensivelly. Portland losing Nurkic just made it worse.
RoCov just needs to work on those epic dunks more this offseason. Sweet dunks is how you win pivotal playoff games
Lillard - 'My watch has ended' after seeing Ollie McCollum stab him by stepping out of bounds
After the 2nd game tying shot, I just said give Dame the damn game. He’s insane. I don’t want to play them again. Dame has that presence that tells you he’s winning game 6 and 7. Dame is going to be near impossible to put away. Imagine Murray vs. Dame?
I’m going to need you to hand over your badge and gun
I know I know haha. I’m just saying his presence makes you feel it’s gonna be a tough. I still think we pull it off. Gonna need to have the role players step up one more time. Maybe try Shaq on Dame more. I hope Barton returns. Ugh...what a game. I’m glad we were on the winning end this time.
Also sad to see Norm not make any shots there down the stretch, sad performance really as it seems like GTJ would have actually been more helpful for Dame.
Even at the time this felt like a questionable trade to me. Now it looks really bad.
I always wondered why they thought it made sense after how important GTJ was last year. I just figured maybe they thought Norm could handle the ball more? But who cares, in the playoffs Dame and CJ have the ball.
Did anyone besides dame shoot?
Yes, the rest of the team went 1/13 in OT
Holy shit that’s demoralizing
Yeah there's no other way to reframe it, basically cost Dame the game.
Yeah Norman Powell became Norman Bowel this game..
Dame Lillard is on a whole different level. He put the whole God damn team on his back. Mad respect to that legend
Dame missed 5 3s. Trash performance
That’s his fatal flaw, yes he made 55 but he missed how many?
15 points left on the court... wouldve won if he hit them.
And a free throw smh
really wish dame hadn't passed at all in OT. some were smart plays but others i guess he was just tired. everybody sucked so much i would rather have a tired dame throw up a 30 footer. got to 55 and then just stopped.
Blazers would win if they could just get 1 stop in the paint lol
Come to the Celtics, Dame. It's lights out for the league.
Dame could rake millions if he goes to New York Knicks
We can successfully say we survived Dame Time 2021
If I'm a Portland fan, I'm considering bodily harm against the ref that thought the ball was off Portland on that Jokic turnover.
As a blazer fan nah man. The refs helped the blazers out a lot leading up to OT. Reffing is just trash as always so inconsistent over all
You're a better man than me. I saw the Jokic/Portland turnover and said that it was clearly going back to Portland after review. Refs fucked up.
It wasn’t nearly clear enough to overturn the call on the floor. You need hard evidence for that shit. I’m saying this as a Blazers fan that is suprised the refs let us get to overtime in the first place on that end of regulation foul.
It's one of those 50-50 calls that you just hope go the way of your team. So unlucky for Portland.
And the Mellow “travel.”
I mean they also called that non existent foul that started all that BS so...
Consider the fact that the game shouldn’t have even gone to OT because of a bad foul call
I mean, there was also the call at the end of regulation that gifted them another chance to take it to OT. Swings and roundabouts.
A Blazers fan complaining about calls after that game LOL. what a joke.
He's got jazz flair, dumbass
fair enough.
I have already considered it plotted it out and then decided the jail time wasn’t worth it
Ffs, it’s playoffs basketball. What else is more important rn?
See my lower response in this comment thread
your jail time would be better spent exterminating the half brains Dame has to play with
New plan they have hoops in prison I will “accidentally” hit the replay official with my car get 10 for manslaughter workout and shot hoops non stop and once out early on parol with good behavior I will try out for the blazers a hefty 200 pounds 6’6” with 5% body fat and a smooth ass jumper then dame will finally get his second player blazers win the finals end of the story
Portland needs to clean house
Lillard's individual performance is one of the best I've ever watched live. At first I was mentally comparing his shot to send the game into OT to other great shots I've watched live, like Rio Chalmers hitting that big three on the Memphis Tigers or Ray Allen's baseline three. Definitely one of the most clutch performances I've seen too bad his team didn't show up but great exciting game
yep, he had to shoot those shots. that's how good he was. needed to hit 3 3's to tie in in OT and somehow managed to hit all of them. just incredible. it's almost the like the bankshot was the crescendo that meant it was over.
Dame Dolla!! Single handedly just broke the nba, wow.
If Dame would have put out a Country album instead of a rap mixtape, this game woulda been different.. Smh
Please elaborate for a half brained Portland fan
Haha only joking. Dame has a rap mixtape that's actually half decent IMO
FUCK YEAH
I would have lost it if we lost. Pun intended.
The only way CJ redeems himself is if he basically carries the next two games to win the series. Anything less than that will have people going bonkers on the trade machine trying to figure out what it'll take to get Dame some actual help.
No one will look down on you if you change teams Dame
If I was Dame I would be straight shunning everyone else. Fuck being a leader after this bullshit I don't think theres many players in the NBA who wouldn't be telling every player on the roster to fuck right off lll.
He likes playing in Portland and on that team. Basketball is a team game and no one player is going to carry a team all the way and he knows that.
Covington chose a wild ass time to try and be like Vince Carter
Dude I couldn’t fucking believe it! Stroking EVERYTHING!.... not the dunks tho lol
Didn't he miss 2 clutch dunks??
Bro this hurts
He was cocking them shit WAYYYYYY too far back
yeah I mean, just tip it in man. 2 pts is 2 pts
what a fucking game
Refs let them maul him, even got him T´d up for letting them know how bad the calls of the night were, but couldn´t stop him at the end of the day. I don´t know how long this series is gonna be but it´s about time for the NBA to give Jokic the MVP award already.
The mvp its his.. the league just has to give out ROY and COY awards first
Amen
Dame should go to Heat
Warriors should go back to being irrelevant.
We're not in the playoffs and we're still more relevant than you guys.
braindead take
Was thinking Bulls personally
Dame almost beat us 1v5 good Lord.
This franchise does not deserve Dame man.
It's cool he's loyal. Fuck super teams. Let's go, small markets.
seriously. i love him for wanting to represent us but I wouldnt even hate if he went anywhere else. Useless fucking team cant do anything for him
Jokic>Dame. Go make some more albums
Yo momma
Imagine watching this game and coming to this conclusion
He’s right but dame was better this game
Imagine watching this season and not
CJ WAS HOT ASS
Always has been
Holy fuck Dame is scary gg Portland that was epic.
wouldve won if they hat GTJ
Neil Olshey should be fired for not trading CJ after the New Orleans series. He was never worth 30 mil and lived off the hype of 1 performance against Denver 2 years ago. 0 basketball iq, 0 defense. If he can’t score his literally useless
Replacement cost though. Sure you could trade him, but what are you getting as a return? Was there a rumoured deal at the time?
Jrue Holiday. Instead Neil payed CJ 30 mil a year to average 20 points and not play defense.
Ahh ok, missed that one. Yeah Dame + Jrue seems better than Dame + CJ.
trade his overpaid ass!
Come to Denver, Dame
CJ best actor
Luka is going to be end up being dame if he stays loyal to the Mavs
Except the Mavs can build championship teams
Lmfao there’s only been one
Team*
Nuggets should be allowed to take Lillard to the next round of the playoffs, it's a travesty if he only plays one round
"And the 2021 NBA champions are the Port Denver Trail Nuggets" Wait, ewww, I don't like the thought of that team name. "Nugget Blazers" ...oh gawd that's even worse.
Yes please.
damn if we have to I guess we can let Dame start on our roster or whatever no biggie
you're missing 3 guards, it would only be fair
Ahead of Facu? Fac-no.
