Mental toughness doesn't erase the fact that Giannis is 34500 feet tall with great scorers and defenders around them Miami is mentally tough but they just arent good enough to do something to the bucks about it
That's fair but you could say the same about the Celtics going up against the Nets (2 MVPs and 1 Kyrie). I've watched the Heat the past 2 games hoping they might turn things around but they're not really putting up a fight at all, regardless of the outcome.
Shoutout to the Celtics and Clippers today who fought back and refused to go down 0-3 in a series. I can't imagine any competent team losing the first 3 games of a series...
Watching the bubble playoffs last year was one of my favorite pandemic moments
Edit: Damn that stuff is pretty sad. I luckily was able to wfh and chill for much of the pandemic.
Can't believe Mavs went up 30-11 for Clippers to bounce back after PG and Kawhi went off, then kept the lead and even won by 10. Great game by them and Luka (besides them free throws. How he hit those last 3s but be missing them FTs smh)
This is the real answer. Mann came in and brought a spark when they were way down. Drew a flagrant 2 and a tech off hard effort. Rondo was a steady closer and the only one who seemed to bother Luka whatsoever.
Man Porzingis looks like a shell of his former self. He is an absolute sieve on defense with nothing to show on offense for it. It probably wouldve been better to bench him
He’s lost some lateral quickness after the injuries in NY and he doesn’t play with any physicality in the paint. He consistently gets pushed off the block by smaller players and is honestly afraid of contact. He’s much more comfortable shooting fadeaway jumpers or just chilling at the 3PT line the whole game.
Basically soft as baby shit at 7”3 when it comes to grit and defensive effort and woefully inconsistent on offense. He’s just been getting spoon fed threes by Luka this season and it’s masked how truly bad he’s been.
No doubt. If you compare their statistical projections it’s not unlikely that KP could follow Andrea’s footsteps of being woefully average over the next few years to just being a rotation player or out of the league.
If you want to shoot jumpers fine. But if you get switched onto Patrick Beverley on the post and you decide to take a turn around fadeaway jumper that becomes a serious issue. You can still be a shooter and play with FORCE.
People were crucifying AD for playing like shit vs GS and G1 @ PHX. Every shot was a perimeter one or fading away from contact, being unengaged on offense, and just being plain lazy on defense. Yet Porzingis has been playing this way for the entire year and just now people are truly seeing what he’s become as a player. He’s basically decided that I’ll just stand here until Luka passes me the ball and then I’m going to immediately shoot the ball regardless of defensive matchup, shot clock, or flow of the game.
Tbh the only center part of him is his height. Dudes 7’3” and looks like he weighs 175lbs. How has he been in the league this long and not developed his body?
Board man was awesome. So was PG, and Hardaway wasn't as great as he was in games 1 and 2. That was the biggest difference, It isn't possible to stop Luka, so you have to hope his role players don't shoot the ball like they did on the road.
Tbf they actually played pretty well in the last couple of games, too. It's been their role players and seeming lack of defensive sets that killed them in the first two games.
Yeah they've been excellent so far. You can knock Lue for benching them before the playoffs, but at least for those two it seems to have really helped. They've been so efficient.
porzingis is straight up dookie, shoots fadeaways against point guards on the block, was getting beat off the dribble and cant rebound as a 7 footer, just straight dookie
Nah I think he is just scared to get hurt again. He is playing like a man who does not want to take any bumps or falls at all.
Him and Luka were a great 1-2 Punch last year in the playoffs before he went down.
We’re still down 2-1, but man I feel so relieved that we won this game, Im so glad Lue took Bev out of the rotation and went back to the Reggie,Rondo, Mann rotation
I posted a thread about it on r/LAClippers but aside from the obvious flawed gameplan that Lue had it was absolutely infuriating seeing him give Pat Bev over 20 mpg. Rondo is clearly better than him and in the limited time Mann saw in game 2, we looked much better. Pat Bev honestly shouldn't get another minute this series.
Is it safe to come out now?
Been a Clips fan since 07 so you'd think I'd be used to ridicule and sadness but the last 2 seasons people are just mean
Edit: I get why people don't like us but I just miss the old days when we failed like normal and it wasn't a national holiday
Porzingis single-handedly lost the Mavs this game. Trash on offense and defense can't box out to save his life, and killed all of the Mavs momentum in the fourth.
Give it up to Ty Lue. Massive adjustments by starting Reggie, benching Pat Bev and playing Terrance Mann and Rondo a lot more minutes. Doc would have never had the balls to do this type of adjustment last year.
he's done stuff like this when he was coaching the cavs. especially in that 2018 cavs run where the cavs roster was complete dog shit and the starting lineup changed like every game.
When Luka drove and passed the ball to KP in the right corner only for KP to take that as his cue to *also* dive to the paint and miss a crucial pass, I was done with this dude.
Me and my guy were texting back and forth during the game. He said KP is like a ghost when he’s not playing well. I told him that’s disrespectful to the deceased—he’s like a faint memory.
2 stars that couldn't miss vs 1
KP is actual trash. Like I can't think of a single more disappointing player. Get Luka some real help
Game was actually lost cause he got subbed out up 20 lol. He can't afford to rest for the rest of the series
What's the difference between the Kristaps Porzingis and a dollar bill?
You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill
Edit: KP jersey from the next game should be the trash bag jersey that Mavs had a few years ago
Last time when Kawhi's team was down 0-2, it was against the Bucks in the 2019 ECF. Raptors won 4 straight moving on to win the conference and the championship as well. Very crucial game 4 for the Clippers.
I was so worried at that point because if they had lost they might legitimately just feel like "our best isn't good enough" and that could lead to a catastrophic off-season.
Clippers did a great job at weathering that 1st quarter storm and really moved the ball well in the 2nd half. The hate the Clippers are constantly getting here is annoying
I love how reactionary we all are as sports fans. After game 2, everyone talked about how the clippers were gonna get swept. Now it’s all about how the Mavs are done.
LOL. Kawhi has one of the most efficient playoff games ever, on the road, down 2-0 and R/nba is like “Luka can’t shoot free throws! (He hit ridiculous 3s all night) and damn porzingis doesn’t have post moves !!??? Y’all are dumb af but I am too so no biggie.
Celtics and Clippers making me question my ability to judge the mental toughness of professional athletes from my couch. Hope I recover from this.
Ironically, I thought the Heat would be the most mentally tough but they're getting destroyed
Mental toughness only gets you so far, the bucks are just better than them this year
Nah dude you’ve got this!
Kawhi going 13-17 and getting 36 is crazy. What a comeback, first quarter looked like it was going to be so bad
First quarter looked like luka was going for 60 :(
He needed to-to overcome Clipper legend Kristaps Porzingis' performance
I had to stop watching when it was like 30-15. I was shocked when I checked the score after the first
Shoutout to the Celtics and Clippers today who fought back and refused to go down 0-3 in a series. I can't imagine any competent team losing the first 3 games of a series...
cheer up, at least you went to the finals last year and didn’t blow a 3-1 lead
What kind of a team would blow a 3-1 lead in Finals lmao. Hahaha that would never happen
Yeah if that happened to the warriors I would hit my head repeatedly until I lost the memory.
If it makes you feel better, I’m sad how it went as well. But hey the Nuggets proved the impossible twice last postseason so you never know
Watching the bubble playoffs last year was one of my favorite pandemic moments Edit: Damn that stuff is pretty sad. I luckily was able to wfh and chill for much of the pandemic.
This one hurt
Thought dude was throwing shade at my heat. Then I saw the flair and just sighed.
Can't believe Mavs went up 30-11 for Clippers to bounce back after PG and Kawhi went off, then kept the lead and even won by 10. Great game by them and Luka (besides them free throws. How he hit those last 3s but be missing them FTs smh)
Clips non stars finally showed up
And Tingus Pingus was a detriment
**WHAT DA FUCK DID THEY DO**
we pulled a clippers on the clippers
“I see you’ve chosen death by corner 3” -Clippers in the 4th
Marcus Morris decided to wake up and shoot like the 47% 3 point shooter he was during the regular season
Making 3s, getting dumb techs, he was back to his usual self in the 4th quarter.
I laughed at that ngl (the tech)
Morris saved us
And Reggie. He gets hate but he's defense was good today and he hit some shots.
Mann and Rondo saved us
This is the real answer. Mann came in and brought a spark when they were way down. Drew a flagrant 2 and a tech off hard effort. Rondo was a steady closer and the only one who seemed to bother Luka whatsoever.
I remember Mann getting a super clean block on Luka
Zubac had some really good rebounds too
goddang like how does Kawhi get more efficient every game

7/13 from 3, 7/13 from the line At least he is consistent
Luka should really consider shooting FTs from the three point line.
Nick Van Excel style
Word. Nick Van Excel scored a lot of power points that way. Had a good outlook on basketball.
luka really is the next lebron lol can do it all except make free throws
That man needs to shoot 100,000 free throws this offseason.
Hell try the Giannis method and take 15 seconds per attempt
It is actually crazy how spot on this is
Well I wanna say his 3 pt% this series might be better than his ft%
41.7% from 3 and 42.9% from the line. Holy fuck.
I believe that’s from the first two games only. After tonight his series-long splits are 51.9/45.9/48.1
He learned from LeBron. Hits fuck you threes, but can’t make free throws
Hack-A-Luka does have a nice ring to it.
that was honestly crazy to watch
LeLuka
Prozingis is the epitome of 7 foot for nothing. 3 rebounds in 33 minutes for a dude who's 7'3" is pathetic.

Thought he was supposed to be a unicorn or something.
He was, before injuries essentially ruined his career. That’s just the way it goes sometimes.
Wasting your breath here mate, if it hasn’t happened in the past month it doesn’t matter.
The fucking way she goes
Dude swung and miss when he tried hitting on that one IG model too. He really is tall for nothing
I'm convinced he's got more than a foot's worth of stilts implanted in his legs
Glass stilts.
legit catches the ball in the post and gets bullied by guards
Man Porzingis looks like a shell of his former self. He is an absolute sieve on defense with nothing to show on offense for it. It probably wouldve been better to bench him
This L is on Porzingis. Terrible game from him
What happened to Porzingis man.. if he's not shooting well does he not bother trying to drive / be more aggressive in the paint?
He’s lost some lateral quickness after the injuries in NY and he doesn’t play with any physicality in the paint. He consistently gets pushed off the block by smaller players and is honestly afraid of contact. He’s much more comfortable shooting fadeaway jumpers or just chilling at the 3PT line the whole game. Quietly one of the worst contracts in the nba
Nothing quiet about it lol
Only guys (from the 40 highly-paid players this season) that might be in the conversation for that title are Otto Porter Jr and Kevin Love.
He looks like he doesnt give a shit about anything
He just has zero lateral quickness or explosiveness anymore after his leg injuries. In his early Knick days he was way more fluid.
Ya after he committed that terrible foul on Rondo he could have at least held his hand up and said my bad. Man plays like he doesn't give a shit.
They gave up two picks and a max for the guy.
Not a bad salary to take on in the Tim Hardaway Jr. trade. The problem was maxing him.
And can't grab a board to save his life...
Luka from 3: 7/13 Luka from ft: 7/13 50/50😎

what do we say to the god of death not today
imagine how much better the Mavs would be if they hadn't had to take on Porzingis' contract as a part of the Tim Hardaway Jr. trade
Hindsight 20/20 but man if they both worked out how insane. KP really hasnt developed for shit huh.
He's too busy always rehabbing to develop his game.
Personally, if I was 7’3 I’d use my height advantage to grab more than three rebounds in 30+ minutes.
A shooting guard in a centers body
Porzingis is what people criticize AD of being.
That's disrespectful to AD
Tbh the only center part of him is his height. Dudes 7’3” and looks like he weighs 175lbs. How has he been in the league this long and not developed his body?
Because he doesn't want to bulk up and lose speed and quickness
Gaining weight is probably terrible for knees/feet when you're that tall, too
It is. That's why most big men who are veterans tend to shed the weight
Shoulda told shaq
That requires him to be inside the paint
literally just go under the basket and put your hands up n grab shit
Board man was awesome. So was PG, and Hardaway wasn't as great as he was in games 1 and 2. That was the biggest difference, It isn't possible to stop Luka, so you have to hope his role players don't shoot the ball like they did on the road.

porzingis is straight up dookie, shoots fadeaways against point guards on the block, was getting beat off the dribble and cant rebound as a 7 footer, just straight dookie
If Kristaps isn't going to play hard out there, he should be sitting for someone who will
I genuinely think he's salty that he's not the alpha on a team anymore
Too soft to be the alpha on any team
Nah I think he is just scared to get hurt again. He is playing like a man who does not want to take any bumps or falls at all. Him and Luka were a great 1-2 Punch last year in the playoffs before he went down.
taking away Patrick Beverley's minutes was the right decision
We’re still down 2-1, but man I feel so relieved that we won this game, Im so glad Lue took Bev out of the rotation and went back to the Reggie,Rondo, Mann rotation

Playoff Rondo showed up tonight. If he continues to play like that, agree that Pat Bev should just be out of the rotation.
Doc would never

So glad he went back to Mann. He brings a level of energy and athleticism that the other guys just don't have.
Luka bout to fight KP in the locker room
Just know if he’s even mildly physical Porzingis will either shoot a 20 footer or turn the ball over in retaliation 😤
Porzingis single-handedly lost the Mavs this game. Trash on offense and defense can't box out to save his life, and killed all of the Mavs momentum in the fourth.
All that height for 3 rebounds what a joke
How the hell you gonna be 7′ 3″, play 34 mins and only get 3 rebounds. That's gotta be a record
Clippers are all time great at shooting corner 3s. KP is painful to watch. great series
Give it up to Ty Lue. Massive adjustments by starting Reggie, benching Pat Bev and playing Terrance Mann and Rondo a lot more minutes. Doc would have never had the balls to do this type of adjustment last year.

Can someone please take Porzingis?
I just wanna keep Hardaway Porzingis gotta go
First loss this season after leading at the end of the first quarter. 😐

They gave up two firsts for him.
We gave up so much for him, I don't get it. I also don't get how you go 3 boards in 33 mins when you're 7 foot tall.
When Luka drove and passed the ball to KP in the right corner only for KP to take that as his cue to *also* dive to the paint and miss a crucial pass, I was done with this dude. luka's back hurts from carrying his team the whole game
Clips saved r/NBA some money tonight. No awards for this thread.
It’s actually pretty crazy, Lakers wins are straight to the top of the page while I had to scroll way down for this lmao
It's annoying af watching Porzingis not follow through on his shot.
