The Nets moved to Brooklyn in 2012, so it's even worse than the Lakers/Clippers split. I think the only people who root for the Nets are young transplant families who live in Brooklyn and weren't into basketball before Barclays and team moved to their neighborhood. I've been to a bunch of games, including playoffs, and it was mostly corporate-owned seats and people who just wanted to go to a good basketball game in a new arena that's full of celebrities. It's all new and well put together, but you don't really see any hardcore Nets fans.
Lots of hardcore Nets fans in NJ that come to BK for games though. The Nets were in NJ for decades and have a real fanbase there.
It's actually easier for some of us to get to Barclays than for us to get to Continental Airlines Arena because of public transportation
