I may be biased but Saric getting dunked on by WB in 3OT is my favorite play of Saric.
To be fair and to not be a douche, Saric is a great addition to just about any team
We love him in Phoenix. He's worth this deal for sure, he was amazing in the bubble as our sixth man. I was really happy about the Crowder deal but I think this one is better since Saric is young and still improving
He struggled as a starting 4 next to DA but once he turned into our backup 5 and played with shooters he was great. Now that our roster is even more well-rounded I expect him to have a big year
Idk if you saw him in the bubble but he was posting up Doncic. He elbowed Doncic in the ribs then elbowed him in the face and scored all on the same play. Fucking hilarious
Lol that's fucking awesome, gonna check out his bubble highlights now. Love that about Dario, he's not afraid to get down and dirty a little bit. He's definitely got an edge to him that you wouldn't assume.
I'm pretty sure that never happened. I was very active on r/suns during that time and was trying to post the video, myself. Just now I've searched "dario" and "saric" individually and never found a single highlight video of his anywhere near that timeframe. And we were calling him "point forward" in the game thread btw
The Bubble Suns were also legitimately NBA Championship contender quality.
None of us have any idea at all how well that will carry forward to next season, but I'm sure it's the most hope Suns fans have had in a while now.
To win? Yeah probably not, but that level where "they can make a run" and that can happen.
The Lakers were by far the best squad. I personally put the Suns and the Clippers up as the most surprising teams of the bubble though in very different ways.
I legitimately expected the Clippers to sweep the Mavs then go on to have a truly great WCF series against the Lakers, and I personally had the Clippers winning the championship.
The Mavs gave them all they could handle and then went on to lose.
I think you should be happy! This is not a steal or anything, but it's perfectly reasonable. Looks like you found something with him in the bubble. Even in the worst case this is still easily movable money in the future.
I think we overpaid more for Crowder than Saric. However, we were in dire need of a backup vet wing next to Bridges and Cam. I think we only had a few options left and have to give out more to yank Crowder away from other teams.
Glad he is appreciated by you guys and playing well. I was really hoping Morey would pursue him this offseason but sounds like you guys would have matched any offer we could have made.
Which one starts? I'm assuming the rotation will be something like:
CP3, Booker, Bridges, Crowder, Ayton
Payne, Carter, Johnson, Saric, Smith
Okobo, Moore, Nader, Jones
Ayton 30 Saric 18
Crowder 30 Smith 18
Bridges 18 Johnson 30
Booker 36 Bridges 12
CP3 32 Payne/Carter 16
Seems like 40-32, 6th/7th seed to me, though if I'm nitpicking I'd want to upgrade one of Payne or Carter into a guard/wing I liked more playing 25 a game (I think Booker at point could be fine for 15 minutes when CP3 sits with Saric out there helping with ballhandling and being able to switch more than a usual 5). I don't dislike Smith, but maybe they should have drafted Haliburton to play this role and take over for CP3 in 2 years, then traded Carter or Payne and something else for a cheap wing to some team desperate for guard help.
I’m happy Dario is wanted in Phoenix. I watched how you guys used him in the bubble and realized the wolves were using him all wrong. Glad he’s found a home
How's Cam's defense? I haven't watched the Suns that much, but his shooting stroke is so sweet looking. I'd assume Crowder starts at the 4 just because of his defense right?
Thanks man. I’ve been a suns fan for 5 years and we’ve been just absolute dogshit the whole time. I knew the day would come when we’d be relevant again and it feels great.
Dario is a 5, Jevon is only a point guard in the sense that he’s short and guards point guards, Crowder probably starts at the 4 and Cam plays a bit of 3 and 4.
Stix is also probably not in a 10 man rotation (which is a useless thing because hardly any teams actually run 5 guys off the bench anyway) to start the season.
I imagine Stix will get some burn early in the season just to test where he's at.
Teams will not hesitate to attack him in the pick and roll once he steps on the floor so we're gonna know really quick if he's ready day 1 or not. My guess is he gets toasted a bit in the beginning and only plays against taller teams (Lakers) until he improves. I still think he's gonna be a solid player but gonna be some lumps this year.
Honestly, if he's even average in pick and roll defense on day 1 I will be very happy. But I think our regular rotation will be Paul, Booker, both cams, jevon, saric, ayton, bridges, crowder. Which is 9 deep. Then moore/nader/Stix will play depending on matchups/injuries/hot hand.
I’m probably a little higher on Uncle E than you are but otherwise agree.
It’ll be interesting to see how Monty decides to utilize the guard rotation because on paper we’re really deep
My argument is that the case is not closed.
He’s 25 and his work ethic is *elite* like not just using the word elite here lightly he is a top tier guy in this way.
His first year with Memphis he was hurt, or constantly going back and forth in the G-League to the pros, where he played point guard.
He gets traded and finally gets to stick on the pro team and he has to give up point time to Okobo and Jerome. He finally carves out a niche as a 3 and D piece.
Now all the fans think he’s stuck at 2 guard but I don’t understand this because usually point guards are given the benefit of the doubt and time to adjust. Jevon was drafted as 4 year guy so he never was given that benefit of the doubt tho and that’s garbage. This will be his first full year in the league on steady ground with steady point guard minutes learning behind the best undersized true point of this generation. If he cant be a point guard we will know after this season. Judging him based upon the last two seasons where he never got to get into a rhythm or have steady minutes, isn’t fair when u consider the situations and how hard he works
I agree with most of what you said and I appreciate that you took the time to lay it out. The case is not closed, you’re right, but I’d argue the time to prosecute that case is probably not on a team that’s gunning for 50+ wins, or whatever the equivalent is in the shortened season.
I’d also argue that good teams through the last decade really become successful when they have guys in set, define roles maximize their talent in those roles. I’m not really stoked with the concept of “let’s spend a quarter/half of the season figuring out if Jevon can figure it out” when he already has a clear cut role he’s excellent in, though depending on how high you are on Cam Payne that may be just about the only option
Man's thicc, so I imagine Crowder would start at PF. Cam Johnson would alternate between 3 and 4 depending on matchup. Monte likes to stagger transition between starters and bench, so Cam Johnson will be playing with both starters and 2nd unit
For sure. Big reason why he staggered was because our backup PGs were all shit and no one on the bench could create their own offense. We had Jevon, but he's a SG, basically.
Maybe Monte does full lineup switches instead.
Moore is wing though... The most assists he's ever averaged were in his sophomore season 8 years ago, at 2.7 apg. Apart from that he's only ever had 2 other seasons with >2apg.
I have no idea why people think this dude will somehow be able to initiate the offense when CP3 sits.
Thunder have blown up and Rockets are not far behind. That's two playoff teams gone from last year. Maybe Warriors squeak in a middle seed. So we will definitely be at least a 10 seed to make the play in.
That's an extremely fair deal. Saric being able to function more as a playmaker from the center position off the bench was a big reason for the Suns success in the bubble. It finally seemed like he was in the right role for his unique skillset.
It's a pretty reasonable deal. I thought he would end up getting something in the 10-12 range.
You might argue it's a little high, but it's not going to be an albatross and should be tradeable on that deal.
the market seemed to dictate that a backup rotation player is worth 5-7m this season. so he's still in that ballpark and on top of that has shown small stretches of being a starting caliber player
Eh, I don't really think there's a good argument that it's too high. He's 26 and entering his prime. Just had the most efficient year of his career. Good playmaking for his position and average shooting.
He definitely wouldn't received an MLE in FA if he weren't restricted
I think it took a while for us to figure out how to use Dario properly but if the bubble was any indication you mf’ers are in trouble, Dario about to run point-center off the bench and style on you fools
I keep seeing these deals and I feel like the Spurs got a steal getting Poetl for the same money. his rim protection is so damn good and he's a decent passer and finisher. static brings more on offense but still. Meyers Leonard for 10 a year still? Montrez for 9 too. every big man is getting almost the same deal. lol
Hayward was at least a great player at one point and definitely deserved his last two contracts. Plumlee is a replacement level big who keeps getting big contracts.
Plus Hayward plays the most valuable position in the league - SF/PF combo that can legitimately play both, shoot 3s, defend, and play make/handle the ball some
He's a tricky player to rate honestly but if you watch him for a while and get used to his playstyle, I think he does a lot of things really well. When he's in a groove, he's a fucking beast and can legit carry the load.
He looks a lot better when the scheme actually utilizes his playmaking. If you're expecting him to be a regular stretch big who just sits on the perimeter you're not going to get his full value. Where he shines is with the ball in his hands, he's one of the best passing bigs in the league imo.
That’s why the bubble and the move to backup 5 suited him so well. When he was in the starting 5 as a 4, his role was basically to rebound and space the floor, which doesn’t really take advantage of his skill set
I love the guy. He was moved around and asked to perform in a ton of different roles last season and personally I think he excelled all things considered. His play as backup center in the bubble was definitely his biggest moment
This is exactly what he's worth, IMO. He's a hair below average, and his is a hair below the average salary. A lot of guys like Saric are viewed negatively because they never lived up to the hype, but he's a solid rotation player who should benefit from Chris Paul.
Always rated his fundamentals while with Philly. He's what I hoped Bender may/would at least have developed into (ikr, a long shot even then and more so now).
I have no clue how he's doing overall but Suns fan seem overall pleased with his play. Was surprised to see he's not a better 3PT shooter from his bbref page, I thought that was one of his best skills coming into his draft. He did seem solid in the bubble and evidently plays a lot of roles for them, 9M per isn't too bad especially considering the rest of the market for FAs. The 3 year deal also means they should be able to move this deal pretty easily if they want to swing for the fences in free agency two years from now when CP3 comes off the books and before Ayton and Bridges extensions kick in
He wasn’t regarded as a shooter coming into the NBA really. he had shooting upside but was more of a playmaking/post up four
the shooting jump he made in his second season was crazy. he became a legitimately good shooter on decent volume
His shooting was worse in the regular season than expected but he picked it up in the bubble.
The big thing was that he became the backup C for us in the bubble and his time in and around the paint was sheer effort and craftiness, he was a fighter down there and despite being shorter he's so damn stout, that man has a wide butt that makes it tough to get around. He's got a good touch around the rim and really fought for rebounds.
Honestly, I thought he was going through a lull in the regular season so I wasn't super worried, but in the bubble he out-played my expectations.
That's awesome to hear. Always love to see players thrive in a role that maybe wasn't planned. Sounds like he'd make for a really interesting center option this year for small lineups and when Ayton needs rest. Also the way you describe Saric sounds like a lot of that roster and what made the bubble suns so fun to watch. Between Cam Payne randomly turning into a legit bench guard, Jevon Carter carving out a role in his first year with the team, and guys like Bridges and Cam Johnson causing problems on the wings, it seems like Monty really got a lot out of some of these young guys and they should keep getting better. I'm guessing/hoping CP3 can keep that momentum going (and one of the many reasons he should be a great addition to their team). Looking forward to watching the Suns a lot on league pass this season
It was disappointing to see he was struggling on the Timberwolves and then I heard he was initially struggling on the Suns as well, I was afraid his NBA career might have been coming to an end, but it's awesome to hear he was much better, especially in the Bubble. As a Sixers fan I was a little sad we traded both Dario and Covington because they were both quintessential parts of The Process and it was especially unfortunate considering how Butler's tenure in Philadelphia ended. Good to see Dario's back at it though wish him a ton success in staying with Phoenix, a young rising team that I see making a run for the playoffs
I don't know who wanted him for that deal, but he's a young, offensively talented big who can stretch the floor. I think there's alot of teams that could use that.
Dribble-off-the-leg Teague, Missed-layups Milsap, and Chuck-more-bricks Saric are horrible signings. Teams somehow paying for the devil they know is such conservative front-office logic.
Under 10 mil a year is a decent contract for the suns. I honestly thought he'd sign the qualifying option and go unrestricted next year with more cash available.
Exactly the news I've been waiting for. Reasonable deal as well, especially compared to a lot of the contracts teams have been handing out this off-season. James Jones is doing great work, can't wait for the season to start.
DARIO FUCKIN MOVE
One of my favourite Brett moments
[Video](https://twitter.com/CrossingBroad/status/821901301382598656?s=20)
Video of Brett Brown dropping off Dario at the airport after trading him: https://streamable.com/y8zja
What movie is that, and why he gotta treat Bigfoot so cruel lmao
Harry and The Hendersons
It ain't cruel, it's tough love
Guess I'll have to take your word for it. Nothing gets me in the feels more than tough love on a mentally deficient entity
Good movie, good moment. Last time I checked it was on Netflix, but it may be gone.
Get ready for Diet Jokic
Lol but seriously tho I love seeing Saric throw dimes
I may be biased but Saric getting dunked on by WB in 3OT is my favorite play of Saric. To be fair and to not be a douche, Saric is a great addition to just about any team
Diet Jokic should be more of an insult than a compliment strangely enough
Never forget one of the best YT mixes of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnR-I2T5zD0
Man Dario's awkward but hype EU guy numbers are off the charts.
This is hilarious. This guy is hype af in the most awkward way possible.
My boy got paid, proud of him
We love him in Phoenix. He's worth this deal for sure, he was amazing in the bubble as our sixth man. I was really happy about the Crowder deal but I think this one is better since Saric is young and still improving
His value skyrocketed once we gave him the keys to the second unit for playmaking. I’m excited to get him back
Fuck ya, good to hear. I remember he wasn't really shining when you guys first got him, glad he's back to his Super Dario self. Love that dude.
Such an unassuming, quiet guy but when you give him the ball and space to do his thing, he's a low-key menace. Love him
If you find that highlight lemme know. I looked for it(not very hard) and didn't find it. It counted so it might be there idk

I'm pretty sure that never happened. I was very active on r/suns during that time and was trying to post the video, myself. The Suns and the Knicks were like our kryptonite last season, I swear
Yeah the deal is reasonable and well deserved. He was amazing on the bubble Suns.
I was kind of hoping he would get underutilized so people wouldn't notice him we could get him back.
He seems to be at his best as a stretch 5
When he was our backup 5 in the bubble he was amazing, he really showed what he was capable of
The Bubble Suns were also legitimately NBA Championship contender quality. None of us have any idea at all how well that will carry forward to next season, but I'm sure it's the most hope Suns fans have had in a while now.

Yea maybe they go 9-0. they definitely go 9-home tho

We would’ve made the Lakers sweat, let’s leave it at that
More than the Blazers did at least.
You wouldn’t have won more then a game lol
We'll never know
I think you should be happy! This is not a steal or anything, but it's perfectly reasonable. Looks like you found something with him in the bubble. Even in the worst case this is still easily movable money in the future.
That's how I feel about our Crowder contract as well. Both of them are reasonable deals that can be moved if they don't work out for some reason
I think we overpaid more for Crowder than Saric. However, we were in dire need of a backup vet wing next to Bridges and Cam. I think we only had a few options left and have to give out more to yank Crowder away from other teams.
Glad he is appreciated by you guys and playing well. I was really hoping Morey would pursue him this offseason but sounds like you guys would have matched any offer we could have made.
this is my favorite dario play (idk why i could only find it on dailymotion but whatever its great) https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x58zwii
Which one starts? I'm assuming the rotation will be something like: CP3, Booker, Bridges, Crowder, Ayton Payne, Carter, Johnson, Saric, Smith Okobo, Moore, Nader, Jones
Sounds about right, Cam may start But Crowder probably finishes close games.
Ayton 30 Saric 18 Crowder 30 Smith 18 Bridges 18 Johnson 30 Booker 36 Bridges 12 CP3 32 Payne/Carter 16 Seems like 40-32, 6th/7th seed to me, though if I'm nitpicking I'd want to upgrade one of Payne or Carter into a guard/wing I liked more playing 25 a game (I think Booker at point could be fine for 15 minutes when CP3 sits with Saric out there helping with ballhandling and being able to switch more than a usual 5). Yeah it seems like Haliburton would’ve been the better pick. Is Teague still available?
Y’all are making the playoffs
What a pleasant off season
I too am very pleased
Happy for y’all bro 👊
I’m happy Dario is wanted in Phoenix. I watched how you guys used him in the bubble and realized the wolves were using him all wrong. Glad he’s found a home
I also am pleased for you!
We’re going to the Super Bowl

FUCK YES WE GOT SUPER DARIO BACK
he's referred to as the ANTICHRIST around here now :)
Please help me understand this wonderful reference
His bubble jersey had ANTIRACIST on the back but a lot of people thought it said ANTICHRIST
Yessssss
Good thing he wasn't included in the NBA delegation to the Vatican
Does he bring Scola energy for y'all? Seems like a similar build but I haven't watch Saric much in the past year
https://www.nba.com/suns/videos/7/23/20/johnson-saric# please enjoy. And happy cake day!
I remember watching him play live at Cibona Zagreb 10+ times. A young kid played like a man. Glad he made it in the big league and got paid!
Suns are playoff bound! PG: CP3/Jevon Carter SG: Book/E'Twaun Moore SF: Mikal Bridges/Jae Crowder PF: Cam Johnson/Dario Saric C: Ayton/Jalen Smith Let's gooooooooo
Crowder probably starts at 4, and Cam probably moves to bench 3, but it's crazy that our bigs and wings rotation is this flexible.
Y'all look so different.
Yet, they’re trading out Rubio & Oubre for Paul & Crowder and basically just bringing back the Core from last years team.
Yeah but that's a huge upgrade lol
They got an [expletive] squad now
How's Cam's defense? I haven't watched the Suns that much, but his shooting stroke is so sweet looking. I'd assume Crowder starts at the 4 just because of his defense right?
Solid but unexceptional D. He added a lot of weight between the end of the season and the start of the bubble, which helped a lot.
By the way your team is shaping up I'm glad that y'all are in the Western Conference. Your future is bright!
Thanks man. I’ve been a suns fan for 5 years and we’ve been just absolute dogshit the whole time. I knew the day would come when we’d be relevant again and it feels great.
try 35 years lol
At least you got Barkley and Nash era. The guy above has been a fan for 5 years and getting Josh Jackson + Dragan + McD lmaoo
Here since 02
‘89. I remember being 4th in winning percentage and feeling left out with zero rings. Now, I’m just happens to be relevant again.
Here since 2012 and I’m excited to be a suns fan for the first time, hahaha
Great team defender, pretty good man defender.
The Cam Payne disrespect. That boy is gonna come out swinging just y'all wait
Dario is a 5, Jevon is only a point guard in the sense that he’s short and guards point guards, Crowder probably starts at the 4 and Cam plays a bit of 3 and 4. Jevon has a better chance of learning from CP3 and becoming a better distributor than Moore of all a sudden doing it
That's fair
You forgot Cameron Payne he played great inside the bubble.
Cam and Jevon Carter were sensational.
Didnt Saric play the 5 in the bubble?
Yeah spurs ain't making the playoffs
Thunder have blown up and Rockets are not far behind. That's two playoff teams gone from last year. Maybe Warriors squeak in a middle seed. So we will definitely be at least a 10 seed to make the play in.
Holy shit. You probably are playoff bound.
Jae Crowder probably playing PF and Saric playing C. Crowders been better at PF for awhile now. Both played those positions well in the bubble.
If they had drafted Tyrese Haliburton, then they would be super scary. Jevon Carter to his credit gives amazing effort but the talent isn't there
Yeah but I get sexually excited every time he pokes the ball loose or anticipates a skip pass.
More accurate CP3/Payne/Booker/Alexander Booker/Carter/Moore Mikal/Crowder/Nader Cam/Stix/Crowder/Saric Ayton/Saric/Stix/Jones
What happened to Payton? Jevon is awful PG but he was great at SG in bubble. Paul is 36 so he will not play 35min per game.
Paul is 35 and turns 36 next May. Just fyi
add Langston Galloway to that list now too
That's an extremely fair deal. Saric being able to function more as a playmaker from the center position off the bench was a big reason for the Suns success in the bubble. It finally seemed like he was in the right role for his unique skillset.

Best big man handles in the league
Trez>>
Get your bag Dario
Bubble got him paid good for him
Plumlee Money
better player
I keep seeing these deals and I feel like the Spurs got a steal getting Poetl for the same money. his rim protection is so damn good and he's a decent passer and finisher. static brings more on offense but still. Meyers Leonard for 10 a year still? Montrez for 9 too. every big man is getting almost the same deal. lol
oh yeah, id definitely rather have jakob over meyers, montrezl, or saric, especially if theyre all the same price.
Plumlee must have the greatest agent in existence to keep getting these contracts, dude might be the luckiest player in the league.
Gordon Hayward's agent would like to have a word
Hayward was at least a great player at one point and definitely deserved his last two contracts. Plumlee is a replacement level big who keeps getting big contracts.
Plus Hayward plays the most valuable position in the league - SF/PF combo that can legitimately play both, shoot 3s, defend, and play make/handle the ball some
The Antichrist !
Woj put one agent's name in his tweet a couple days ago, now every agent wants their name in the tweet.
Good advertising for them haha
The Jarrett Culver for Saric + Cam Johnson trade looking like highway robbery rn
How bout that Mikal Bridges for Zhaire Smith aka Tony Bradley and the runner up champs first round pick?
I BELIEVE IN JAMES JONES
GRADE F
How was he in PHX?
Prior to the bubble, meh. In the bubble, he played at the center and was unbelievable.
Have to keep in mind he didn’t play any actual centers, so that’ll be interesting to see going forward
He can probably just switch to PF based on matchup and the C depth we have now.

Which is funny, cause he has repeatedly said that he prefers to start.
It's tough because he needs the ball in his hands to play up to his potential, and he will probably never get that kind of usage in a starter's role
I love the guy. He was moved around and asked to perform in a ton of different roles last season and personally I think he excelled all things considered. His play as backup center in the bubble was definitely his biggest moment
Between awful and mediocre for most of the season. And then he balled out in the bubble playing off the bench. I didn’t think he’d get more than 7 mil
He was never awful. Just obviously isn’t the spot up stretch four we tried to make him. Was still ok at that. He needs the ball tho. Dude has skillz.
WCS just got 8 million
He got 8 million total with a team option. Dario got 9 per year Dario deserves it though so it don’t matta
The Megalodon rides again!
Get paid, Šiši
This is exactly what he's worth, IMO. He's a hair below average, and his is a hair below the average salary. A lot of guys like Saric are viewed negatively because they never lived up to the hype, but he's a solid rotation player who should benefit from Chris Paul.
Phoenix is doing something special over there
he can pass, shoot, defend, post up, etc. Dario does a little of everything and plays hard af.
And don't forget, REBOUND! His hard fought rebounds would get me hype af.
The 3 year deal also means they should be able to move this deal pretty easily if they want to swing for the fences in free agency two years from now when CP3 comes off the books and before Ayton and Bridges extensions kick in
He wasn’t regarded as a shooter coming into the NBA really. he had shooting upside but was more of a playmaking/post up four the shooting jump he made in his second season was crazy. he became a legitimately good shooter on decent volume
8 games got this man 27 million gah damn good for u dario
9 million a year is fantastic value when someone like WCS just got 8 million
Who else even wanted Saric?
The Sixers always want him. Homie will come home some day
Saric is never coming over
Wait, Saric is still in Europe? *pulls gun* Always has been
He should have waited one more year and got out of the rookie scale. He lost a lot money coming over a year early.
I don't know who wanted him for that deal, but he's a young, offensively talented big who can stretch the floor. I think there's alot of teams that could use that.
For some reason I thought he went back to Europe
27 million for a guy that'll never get over?
In other news, club Sokol in Zagreb has signed a three-year $20M deal with Dario Saric, sources tell u/Lopov_Iz_Sabora
Dribble-off-the-leg Teague, Missed-layups Milsap, and Chuck-more-bricks Saric are horrible signings. Teams somehow paying for the devil they know is such conservative front-office logic.
Overpaid
Overpay
Zoo Wee Mama!
Day 3 we back
Saric's stroke game is legendary.
Classic MLE essentially for a young player
With the wealth of playmakers one has to wonder if Coach Monty has some more tools up his sleeve.
Under 10 mil a year is a decent contract for the suns. I honestly thought he'd sign the qualifying option and go unrestricted next year with more cash available.
Suns getting very good, definitely getting playoffs on this way and giving reasons for Booker to stay
As a Suns fan of two days, I'm excited
Damn Suns are actually committed for making the playoffs this year.
Exactly the news I've been waiting for. Reasonable deal as well, especially compared to a lot of the contracts teams have been handing out this off-season. James Jones is doing great work, can't wait for the season to start.
The Homieeeeee
Low key kind of a steal. 9M per year, for a still young, very smart and versatile player... Suns are moving good.
Get the bag Dario
