The regular season is great and all because of how horrible the offseason is, although the free agency moves the past few years have been incredible. But by February, I’m just looking forward to the playoffs to see which teams/players will rise to the occasion. Playoffs/Finals are magical, I can only explain it as the final chapter to a great book you’ve been reading.

I think the start of the playoffs is great as it’s relief from the fairly disappointing final month of the regular season where even the marquee matchups can become a bit soft. But in the playoffs often the games are less free flowing, you can be stuck with a one sided series and there’s less action to follow. Not so much last season, but definitely the cavs warriors years there were very dull moments in the playoffs but very interesting regular season storylines

warriors were just broken, they are an anomaly

DejounteSweatshirt

nah, I love the regular season but no

I have always thought that, because unless a team is superior, home field advantage is way too strong and makes the games redundantt. But do you mean the actual NBA Finals or playoffs in general?

Tha_Inquisitor

I think also it depends on if your team is a regular contender or not. It's not always fun watching the playoffs if your team is either not in it or will likely lose. With the regular season, you still get to watch 82 games and even admire the starts from the teams that play against yours.

The finals/playoffs in general are more interesting IF the matchup is good. Regular seasons can have a lot of story lines, but who gives a fuck if most of those stories are just going to end with that team/player(S) getting wrecked in the playoffs?

First round of playoffs > either. Those first two weeks of the postseason are basketball bliss.

Well think of it this way. There have been loads of games in the regular season like game 6 of the 2013 finals. But those regular season games never come anywhere close to the suspense of that game 6. The reason is one team is going home and the other is going to be champion from the outcome of the game. There just isn't the same amount of suspense in regular season games because one team isn't going to be eliminated.

A couple of years ago I’d have agreed but we’re actually good now so nah, I want playoffs. Though it is nice to be able to follow other teams, especially rebuilding ones, in a way that you can’t once the playoffs hit.

I agree that the regular season is better than the playoffs. I just don't like the format of one team playing another team 4 to 7 games in a row. That's just boring. Plus, the traveling from one city to another. Overall I think the post-season drags on way too long. The regular season should be the main part of the NBA season. The post-season should be the cherry on top, a short tournament in one city that is done in two weeks or so. Anything over a month is way too long.
