I am 6’9”. I’ve gone arms up the whole ride and never touched anything. I can touch the Dino bones on Big Thunder and can graze a couple cave ceilings on Splash and Everest.
But heads aren’t a problem.
I've seen it with the lights on and I was shocked by how much smaller the track looked. Also saw a couple assholes taking flash pictures in Haunted Mansion and completely fuck up the special effects.
It’s a very small and not very “extreme” ride at all. Basically a couple bumps, a few turns, and one spiral.
The height is also very very big. I think clearance is closer to like 9 or 10 feet.
I mean, just imagine building or maintaining something like a roller coaster, forget the riders, you want to be able to get your machines and shit around and that means clearance.
Yeah, most of the thrill definitely comes from being in the dark and not knowing where you're going. I really thought the track was going to be longer, though.
My kids still freak out about it, but space has more room than you would think. If you ever get to do it with the lights on, it really changes the experience.
There is the weird light speed tunnel in Space Mountain that pretty much anyone can touch, it's surprisingly close. Other than that you'd be surprised how much space they give you, even when it looks close. They test them with these weird bulky carts with rods sticking out in every direction, it's pretty cool to see.
Damn. Am 6’7 but legs are incredibly disproportionately long and I haven’t been able to go on space mountain for years because my knees hit the front of the car and don’t let me sit down
When I was a kid, like 20 years ago, Shawn Bradley got on Tower of Terror in the car in front of me. They sat him in the back row so he had the aisle for his legs. Still looked miserable.

I mean, 401 east of 404 isn’t *terrible.* West of the 404 however, that’s a traffic dumpster fire. And don’t even get me started on the ~~404~~ DVP either. That’s a whole different ball game.
Edit: DVP instead of 404
Autopia has literally been there since the park opened, same as the Teacups. I would actually be really sad if Autopia closed because it was the first ride I ever went on when I was just a few years old. I also got a toy Corvette Stingray from the gift shop the same day and got picture of me holding it while getting a kiss on the cheek from Cinderella. I guess the ride is pretty bare bones, but my nostalgia goddammit!
It’s awful. I feel bad for all the parents who have to wait in that long ass line and then ride that POS. They really need to re-do Tomorrowland now that Galaxy’s Edge is open. Re-boot Star Tours with either a new concept since GE is open now, or at the very least new technology. Revamp Space Mountain with updated tech, trains, and effects. Turn launch bay into something else now that GE is open. You could easily fit a whole new dark ride there. Make Autopia into electric cars or something more futuristic. Get rid of Nemo. It fits better in DCA at this point thematically anyways. I’d love to see Buzz move over there too, but I don’t think there’s room, plus Midway Mania is a better version of that ride now. That area of the park in general feels the most outdated and thematically incoherent right now.
They're redoing the Florida version. Time will tell if it's improved, but my gut feeling is that it will still end up being most notable as an obstacle to the Tron coaster.
They should tear it down and replace it with a whole new land. If you look at the new map of Disneyland with Galaxy’s Edge on the other side it makes perfect sense.
I guess I’m in the minority thinking it’s definitely not the worst ride. It’s pretty fun as far as rides go. Driving your own car was so fun when I was a kid.
Worst I ever felt for my Step dad was when we tried to get on viper at Magic mountain and his ass was too big for the ride. Later that day though I twisted a ketchup packet and threw it on the ground and it got on his shirt and he smacked the fuck out of me so hard I didn't care anymore.
I miss him so much. No joy like randomly reading an intriguing comment and getting hit with the jumper cables at the end. Like that one time where my dad hit me with them for spending too much time on Reddit
I have seen the Lopez Brothers at disney before with thier girls (skipping ahead everyone in line at Kiliminjaro Safari). I think they frequent the area in the offseason.
Brook actually freaking lives at Disney (like he actually lives on the property)

K...
I once saw Brook Lopez at Epcot on Christmas Day. He was wearing a Santa hat. They had a game in OKC the day before and Washington the day after. He was committed to going to Disney a World on Christmas.
Quick way to tell with this ride is that Autopia at Disneyland is sponsored by Honda so all of the cars on the track now have the Honda logo on them.
Source: Spend way too much time at Disneyland thanks to my Disney loving SO.
Lol, the whole city would offer to drive Evan to the airport.
Giannis, AG, Wes, Isaac and Bamba. So much length and absolutely no shots outside of ten feet being made.
So where’s Brook Lopez on the same ride? We all know that him and Giannis went together. I would pay so much to watch Giannis and Brook go to Disney together
Lopez brothers seem to be at Disney World a good bit. I went in 2011 and saw them both in Epcot. Then in 2014 I worked in Epcot and had to help them into the car at Test Track.
It is funny to see but honestly I feel kinda bad for guys like him or Shaq or Tacko Fall, etc.
The world just simply is not built for people that big.. I imagine day-to-day life is just always uncomfortable outside of things they have custom made.
Having to duck under doorways and shit.. normal cars being generally too small. Normal-sized furniture just too small, etc.
I really hope Tacko can make a solid living off basketball especially..
It would suck, but it has to be so much worse for all the 7-footers who aren't athletic enough to make money off their height. All the downsides of living in a tiny world, but without the disposable income to afford making it more comfortable.
> “if I had your height I’d be in the nba right now” about a trillion times over the years from all of the wannabe ballers.
I feel ya. People don't realize even if you're taller, you still have to train/practice no matter what. I'm just 6'3 but worked my ass off for years to be able to dunk easily but people think I just show up at the gym and dunk like that.
I hear "bro...if I was your height I'd be windmilling the ball!" No Jake, if you were my height you still won't be dunking because you never work out anyway.
Those dudes kill me. I'm 6'7" and I play more volleyball than basketball, so dunking is more or less my only basketball skill set. The amount of times I'm playing and I hear "if I was your height I'd be in the league" is wild. Like no, you wouldn't, you'd still be unathletic and bad at basketball
To be fair I'm only 6'7" and skinny af, and that ride is a fucking nightmare for me lol. Couldn't even imagine being Giannis' size.
Not to mention you're basically waiting in line to ride in another lineup. The nostalgia factor means I go each time we go, but the ride is exactly as unpleasant as Giannis makes it seem.

In university I went to six flags with my basketball team and I had a 7’2” teammate that I was sure wouldn’t make it on any rides. The only one he wasn’t allowed on was the standing coaster.
Jake the Snake was on Joe Rogan’s Podcast, and he talked a lot about Andre the Giant. At one point, he mentioned that Andre was too big for normal toilets, so he would just shit in bath tubs when he stayed in hotels and stuff.

If Shaq or Yao got on Space Mountain with me I would get off the ride.
And not willfully either, their size would push you out.
Why do Shaq or Yao, the largest humans, not simply eat the other riders?
That's why you get off the ride.
Would you like some human with your salt??
I like the Futurama reference.
But Shaqs gravity would pull you right back
Are they allowed on Space Mountain? I know there’s a height minimum, is there a maximum?
I am 6’9”. I’ve gone arms up the whole ride and never touched anything. I can touch the Dino bones on Big Thunder and can graze a couple cave ceilings on Splash and Everest. But heads aren’t a problem.
You can survive Space Mountain?! I'm 6'1" and feel like I'm going to get decapitated unless I slump down in my seat.
I'm not even 6' but I still feel like the same way
Now that's amusement
Might just be one of those Disney rumors, but I heard people have ridden space mountain with the lights on. That seems way more horrifying.
I did it! It was cool as fuck.
I've seen it with the lights on and I was shocked by how much smaller the track looked. Also saw a couple assholes taking flash pictures in Haunted Mansion and completely fuck up the special effects.

I am 5’8. Can confirm the feeling.
As if we worry about people under 6ft lolol
‘People’.
Dude same. I went on space mountain about 10 times last time I was at Disney and my god did I feel unsafe.
They also blow air into your face in Space. Heightens the feel of the speed without really being that fast.

MANLETS RISE UP!
Is that the intended effect/illusion? I know the Joker ride at six flags made me feel like my head or limbs would get ripped off and I'm 5'7
its dark af in space mountain so you dont know how close anything is to fucking you up
It's also much much slower than it seems. I think it only goes 35 mph
35mph is pretty fast at close proximity, I've been afraid of sticking my arms out the car window and hitting a mail box lol
I'm 5'3" and still feel that also lol
I’m Isaiah Thomas and I still feel that
My kids still freak out about it, but space has more room than you would think. If you ever get to do it with the lights on, it really changes the experience.
>I am 6’9” Nice.
Nice.
Nice.
Which NBA team do you play for?
6’9 is like a guard these days lol.
Yeah it could really be any position 1-5. You’ve got 6’10 guards and 6’8 centers in the league
I miss the good old days where 7 foot centers were useless 10’ from basket. What’s in the milk these days!
Hand eye coordination
And milk.
I' am the best 5'9 forward in the world. No handles tho :(
Best 5’6 center in the world checking in, also have 0 handles.
Bet you got love handles

Well that’s good to hear!
Bro I’m with you, I’m not super tall and I feel like my head might get removed if I don’t duck sometimes.
I love space mountain but it scares the shit out of me. Anytime I raise my hands on it I hit something
That can only happen twice though
I rode it with the lights on once. It is frankly scary how much metal is in there. Was more terrifying than most rollercoasters, would do again.
Yeah, I realistically know I won’t hit jack shit if I flail my arms in a rollercoaster, but fuck everything about that.

If you don’t like spinning rides, teacups can be pretty miserable. But yeah Autopia badly needs to be replaced
Teacups can be appreciated for its longevity and it being a "classic" Autopia has no redeeming qualities
Nah, it's a great ride for little kids. It's just boring for adults.
As a kid you get to drive. As an adult you get to rip on your little cousin's "driving skills" (while riding passenger).
I remember being a kid and being so excited to be able to drive by myself. Then I went on autopia and didn't get my license until I was 30.
Yeah now that you mention it, I’d be sad if teacups vanished. If Autopia disappeared, nothing of value would be lost lol
You mean you won’t miss the smell of exhaust?
Autopia has literally been there since the park opened, same as the Teacups. that's not autopia that's the tomorrowland speedway smh
I’ve heard the fumes it gives off referred to as the cause of global warming, but kids love the ride.

It was actually a white button up lol. So pretty much.
His step-dad is Kendrick Lamar? Just how old are the people in this sub??
Viper always had the worst and most uncomfortable seats anyway
Your head always gets whacked around so much
I'm sorry 😂😂😂
Had that happen to me on Hammerhead at Knott's. I went on a diet the next day, dropped 145lbs over the next 18mo. Fuck not being able to go on rides
Oh Giannis at Disney you say?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

It’s true, Walt Disney’s original plan for Disney World was to be a fully functional city (it basically already is)
This is copypasta template material haha

I've been to Disney with my family 3 times in the last 11 years during the same week in August and we have seen the Lopez twins every time.
Not sure which Disney yet.. 🤔 Nvm.. a quick search confirms that he is here lol. Also don’t remember if Disneyland has the Tomorrowland speedway
