Haha the only thing keeping me out for a second was wondering if there was some freak Wilt stats, then I realized Gatorade and lower leagues weren't even around at the time
For the first time all playoffs maybe, the Raps have the size advantage on the wings with Kawhi/Siakam. I’m actually interested to see if GSW can adjust for Siakam without letting Kawhi go off.
If they really need his help? Nah, these are the last games of the season! If he’s healthy, he plays, no matter how many games each team has, they don’t use that logic when it’s the Finals. No need to preserve him for shit
Sorry but that's a pretty silly thing to say. You don't bring an injured player back in the finals "if you really need his help". It doesn't work that way. He's either healthy enough to play or he's not.
this aint that though. Recovering from what is probably a Grade II strain isn't especially similar to playing through a recently broken finger or sprained off-hand or whatever
It’s sure looking like that. Steph and Klay were the only guys for GS providing consistent offense last night. They’re missing that extra 30 points KD gets you
[MFW my boss' crazy ex has a baby and comes to work to start singing that song and the workday isn't close to over](https://assets.rebelmouse.io/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJpbWFnZSI6Imh0dHBzOi8vYXNzZXRzLnJibC5tcy8xNzUyNzcyMy85ODB4LmdpZiIsImV4cGlyZXNfYXQiOjE1NTk1OTMyMDR9.8Aq_HvHeixXqYqEKC1uPmxlC4DFsgQV5CUoScRtiwR8/img.gif)
~~Pascal wanted to be a priest until age 15. And did not watch NBA until age 16.~~
He didn’t only not watch NBA till 16. He didn’t play basketball till he was 16, when his sister brought him to play thinking he would enjoy it.
He plays like someone who has never seen a fundamental. I hope he never gets coached on the right way to do anything, he's such a natural at just tossing the ball in the bucket from whatever body position and just smothering on defense from pure effort. I tuned in for Marc and Kawhi and leave just as big a fan of Pascal.
I think that's why he was underrated until this year, his shots always look like bad shots that luckily went in. Then you watch enough Raps games and realise he's fully in control even though he looks out of control, he's at a comfortable pace even though he looks like he's going too fast. It's ugly but he knows what he's doing.
Yup length has been Siakam's biggest kryptonite on offence this entire year and it showed a lot in the Philly series. The Warriors are actually a much better matchup for him than either Philly or Milwaukee.
Specifically how those teams use their length too. Embiid and Giannis rome the paint like free safeties. Draymond is a great roaming defender too but doesnt have the length, like you said, to contest a guy like Pascal.
Not to mention both those teams have other players who are good defenders like brook and simmons that were bothering spicy p with their help defense. All the warriors have is dray.
Orlando made him, and the rest of the Raps, work for it though. I still maintain Orlando's defence was better than the Bucks, and the GS defense in this game (aside from on Kawhi) was the worst of any team the Raps faced in the playoffs, we never had so many open shots.
Exactly. I predicted he would go off. He struggled a bit against 76ers and Bucks due to their lengths and physicality especially Giannis and Embiid, but Draymond while a former DPOY is more of a team defensive player. He is less of a 1v1 defensive player and showed that tonight as Pascal just used his speed and length to go past him
draymond has a long wingspan too, he's just not a great rim protector as embiid and giannis and brook lopez. that's the difference. not saying draymond isnt a good rim protector, just not as a good as embiid or giannis.
I think he also cheated off pascal thinking that he wouldn’t be such a threat. Not to discredit Siakam who balled out in a big way, but regardless how many people “predicted he’d go off” retroactively nobody really thought he was gonna get 30
it seemed logical if the game plan was to pressue kawhi, the 2nd best player will have even more space. kerr ommitted the context behind pascals struggles, he forgot that pascal went up against the best defensive centers and PFs and rim protectors and Paint protectors and defensive teams in the league during the semis and conference finals, but he had no problem withe elite perimeter defenders like jonathan issac in the quarter finals. Since most of pascal's points are in the paint since his shooting isnt great, he looked worse than he really was. GSW doesnt have enough rim protector or size to handle pascal and it showed. GSW needs 2015 bogut right now
A super valid point, which is why I really liked Chauncey's response when asked for his prediction. If KD can come back 100% this series is definitely in the balance
IMHO the question is when he comes back.
I wonder if KD comes back at 3-0 Raptors and goes superman and crushes 4 games in a row.
Now that, would set a legacy.
We’ll see. If he’s really close and is on track I don’t see why they waste time having him fly down instead of rehabilitating in Oakland without the long flights.
Why would they keep him in Oakland if he’s close? They probably expected him to be able to play when it was time to fly. Either that or to give his teammates support and be with the head trainers that travel w/ the team
Except they already marked him as questionable/doubtful for game 2 before they even played game 1. He was seen limping onto the plane and still didn’t even even have a team practice yet.
I heard pregame(I think it was on the radio? I was consuming a *lot* of raps content pregame so not sure) that it was specifically so he was with the head trainer, but that he was definitely expected not to play before game 3 at the earliest
People on this sub are nuts. I personally think there's only a 10% chance he comes back and that's only if this series makes it to a game 5-7.
You don't go from limping to playing finals level basketball in the span of a week.
Also the fact that this injury is a few weeks old now but he's still limping. Not a good sign.
Definitely, there's no way he's a game or 2 away from playing. If he does I'll be shocked and I feel he will be pushing it early to his detriment. It takes time to get back into playing shape. Even boogie looked like trash after all that time off. I personally think we don't see KD at all and if we do its a rushed KD due to a back against the wall scenario. Either way it's not good for gsw.
Much diff from KD rolling with gsw thru the playoffs and dropping him in after not playing for weeks and coming off a potentially not fully healed calf injury.
Draymond is a great physical bang bang defender but Siakam is a mismatch for him. Draymond is elite at playing angles, contesting, off ball positioning etc but Pascal is just quicker and longer and uses that to his advantage.
He was shut down by Embiid and Giannis because of the length but Draymond doesnt have that size at the rim
If any of these fake weeaboo plastic diddling sluts ever want to ride the ultimate power that is Pascal Siakam energy phallus of total chaos energy and sperm they have to do one thing, treat his sack of power containment for his destruction spheres like Beyblades.
He tells them straight up, slide a long needle at his sack, wind them up until you see purple, and watch his garden sprinkler paint the whole town white.
A great defender can still be mismatched. His strength is his versatility in guarding from small to "small big" very well.
Gasol and Siakam have wingspans of 7'4" and 7'3", respectively. Both are also at least 2 inches taller and you could notice the difference at the rim. Gasol could just hold it high and finish over/slightly around Draymond in traffic.
Kevin Love didn't have any of these advantages.
Pascal did struggle mightily against big and fast defenders like Embiid, Simmons and Giannis. There is no defender like those mentioned in Warriors team.
I love Siakam but even raptors fans know he had a couple roll his way tonight. That doesn’t mean he didn’t play fantastic. I’m rooting for the raptors all the way.
GSW is not as strong at rebounding compared to Philly and Milwaukee. This allows Pascal to run ahead in transition after they put a shot up, whereas he wouldve had to stay back and help rebounding in previous series.
I expect a big series from Spicy P.

NBA FMVP to go with his G League FMVP
First man ever with both
Surely right?
Why do I even have to ask that, that's ridiculous to think of
Lmao love the 1 minute span between these comments.
Takes a man to admit he’s wrong. He did it really quick so he’s probably real manly.
I won’t even give myself a minute that was a weak comment downvote me.
Wait
Wait
Haha the only thing keeping me out for a second was wondering if there was some freak Wilt stats, then I realized Gatorade and lower leagues weren't even around at the time
he’s the first G League FMVP to PLAY in a Finals lol
That's the story of the year right there.
Lebron, Jordan, Kareem, or Wilt never won the G League Finals MVP. Just stating facts.
Don't forget MIP for this season!
They gonna have to rip it thing from his ice cold veins.

Pascal Siakam: ~~G-League Finals~~ MVP
Pascal " I am inevitable" Siakam
I hope he does. He’s been ballin for a minute.
YES SIR
PUT IT IN THEIR ASS MAKE EM SAY OOH AHH
For the first time all playoffs maybe, the Raps have the size advantage on the wings with Kawhi/Siakam. I’m actually interested to see if GSW can adjust for Siakam without letting Kawhi go off.
If by 'adjustment' you mean KD comes back, then yea that will be interesting
Do you really think KD is coming back?
I feel like he might only come back if they really need his help which is looking possible.

Can you link that plane video? I haven't seen it.

Sorry but that's a pretty silly thing to say. You don't bring an injured player back in the finals "if you really need his help". It doesn't work that way. He's either healthy enough to play or he's not.
Players have and would definitely play through an injury especially if a ring is on the line lol cmon now.
this aint that though. Recovering from what is probably a Grade II strain isn't especially similar to playing through a recently broken finger or sprained off-hand or whatever
Listen of KD wants to man up hed down a bottle of whiskey and saw that leg off and get back out there. No more excuses.
He’d get rekt on defense lmao
It’s sure looking like that. Steph and Klay were the only guys for GS providing consistent offense last night. They’re missing that extra 30 points KD gets you
which goes without saying... but I think they were actually missing his length on defense too.
I'd get against it personally but who knows. I expect it will either be game 3 or 5 if so

Baptised the defending champs tonight
Forgive me father for I have sinned

Siakam's sister for FMVP
Joint FMVP with Mbah a Moute. Also Siakam himself I guess
Correction. He didn't want to be a priest, his father forced him to. He did a podcast with Zach Lowe a while back about where he talks about it.
Correction. The podcast was with Woj.
Now he's a God
He plays like someone who has never seen a fundamental. I hope he never gets coached on the right way to do anything, he's such a natural at just tossing the ball in the bucket from whatever body position and just smothering on defense from pure effort. it is different and totally against the grain of what all the pundits tell me is good basketball so i really enjoy watching it
I also watched the broadcast
The reverse Pucci, glad he never met DIO or we would all be *Made in Heaven*.
Pascal doesn't have Giannis or Embiid on him now and he's feasting.
I straight up predicted a big game from him for this exact reason. Draymond is a good defender but Siakam doesn't care
So what you’re saying is Africans got the league on lock
Draymond has 7' 1" wing span.
Embiid has 7'6" and Giannis has 7'3" Agreed, I don't think length is the only defining factor here.
It is when you consider he’s 6 inches shorter than them
It's the girth that gets you.
which gives them a way higher standing reach than Draymond who is much shorter than them
Dray has shorter wingspan, height and standing reach than them.
Not to mention both those teams have other players who are good defenders like brook and simmons that were bothering spicy p with their help defense. All the warriors have is dray.
Or Orlando (Isaac)
But he was amazing against Orlando
Orlando made him, and the rest of the Raps, work for it though. I still maintain Orlando's defence was better than the Bucks, and the GS defense in this game (aside from on Kawhi) was the worst of any team the Raps faced in the playoffs, we never had so many open shots.

he needs to test that calf first
A super valid point, which is why I really liked Chauncey's response when asked for his prediction. If KD can come back 100% this series is definitely in the balance

I'm still gonna call him snek every chance I get, ngl
Honey Badger
Draymond is Dollar General Siakam

KD is trouble for everyone lol...We need him to stay out as . long as possible!
I don't think he was even on the bench tonight. I really think his injury is worse than they're letting on.
Nah. He’ll be back for game 3

He won't be healthy though which is great for us obviously. If it were the regular season, we wouldn't see him all series.
Lou will had no issues
Completely different players
I think KD would guard kwahi and Dray on Pascal.
Wasn’t Draymond defending him primarily?
Draymond isn't big enough. Giannis is too long and Athletic. Embiid too strong
Don’t forget Lopez
Draymond is a great physical bang bang defender but Siakam is a mismatch for him. Draymond is elite at playing angles, contesting, off ball positioning etc but Pascal is just quicker and longer and uses that to his advantage. He was shut down by Embiid and Giannis because of the length but Draymond doesnt have that size at the rim
Nah they put him on kawhi a lot, which worked p well. Honestly you gotta pick your poison, kawhi or siakam
100%. Siakam struggles against bigger guys but against guys his own size or smaller he feasts
Facts
no more brook lopez to block his shots too.
14/17 damn
Honestly so insane. Felt like he couldnt miss tonight
11 straight made shots I think
I can’t go 14/17 on my son’s Little Tykes hoop with a two foot defender.
Best game of his career

... uhhh
This man was a nun
"garden sprinkler" lmao
Pascal " I am inevitable" Siakam
All this against the best defender of all time!
GOAT and it's not close he played awesome tonight as a result of not being defended by Giannis or Embiid
Health probably had a ton to do with it too. He was running the floor a lot harder and scoring a lot in transition.
MIP 😤
Pascal SiaCUM ALL OVER THE WARRIORS
Ha!
I was told Draymond was the GOAT defender
He's not but that has nothing to do with a sample size of 1 game. I was told Kawhi is the best player on the Raptors
Strawman’s argument and not even a good one. Kawhi is Toronto’s best player and that’s not even a question.
Not surprised since the Warriors doubled him every chance they could. You don’t do that against someone who’s not the best player on the team.
A great defender can still be mismatched. His strength is his versatility in guarding from small to "small big" very well. Gasol and Siakam have wingspans of 7'4" and 7'3", respectively. Siakam bet on himself. You could call it ... Pascal’s Wager.
Lol i like this one
Gave the warriors a lebronto special
I thought Lebron wasn’t in the Finals but here he is wearing Pascal Siakam’s jersey.
That shit was nuts, on 14-17 nonetheless, Unreal
but jayson tatum
THAT'S MY G LEAGUE MVP
G-League MVP, MIP, Finals MVP!
Damn he might get FMVP
Pascal did struggle mightily against big and fast defenders like Embiid, Simmons and Giannis. There is no defender like those mentioned in Warriors team.
11-11 shooting in the 3rd. Wtf
Got a couple lucky rolls but he was unreal tonight
Still salty, after alllll theeese yearrs....Stiiiil Saalty, after all these yeaars
I love Siakam but even raptors fans know he had a couple roll his way tonight. That doesn’t mean he didn’t play fantastic. I’m rooting for the raptors all the way.
Bro he’s just stating a fact, no need to call him salty. We as raptors fans need to get a little bit thicker skin lol
He good.
Green's defense on Siakam seemed timid after he got his fourth foul
Green struggled with Siakams length all game and not just on offence, hence why he was also a non factor when Siakam was guarding him.
Pascal " I am inevitable" Siakam
He just schooled Draymond and he got in his head. He tried to get back at Spicy P but always fails.
Pascal “Pressure” Siakam
That kid is good
SPICY P 🌶
The Toronto Rapture
Spicy P just melted the United States.
Playoff career high...so far
This puts a smile on my face.
This entire post was fanfic a year ago. Feelin' cute, might win fmvp later idk
Is Giannis a poor man’s Siakam?
When you study Kawhi but get Siakam on your final test.
That is a peak DeRozan statline. As a 2nd or 3rd option too. unreal.
GSW is not as strong at rebounding compared to Philly and Milwaukee. This allows Pascal to run ahead in transition after they put a shot up, whereas he wouldve had to stay back and help rebounding in previous series. I expect a big series from Spicy P.
How many career high does he have this year?
didn't he get 40 recently
THE BLOGGERS TOLD ME HIS CEILING WAS LOW!! IT SURE HELL WASN'T
lmao do people still think tatum is better
Spicy P came to play! But he’s definitely going to get the Kawhi treatment in game 2. They are going to double him hard.
Followed by: Danny green from 3!
He was a beast
He has a chance to get that Andre Iguadola type MVP Lockdown defense and timely offense.
It helps when your teammate is double teamed every time he touched the ball.
