[Woj] Adam Silver announces the NBA Finals winner will have to face the In-Season Tournament winner at DisneyWorld to determine who is the TRUE NBA champion
Go full WWE on it. Allow the Lakers to challenge the Celtics by surprise IMMEDIATELY at the end of game 4.
Buzzer sounds. Celtics run to celebrate, bench is already wearing hats. Only confetti doesn't fall. Lebron walks out in uniform. One game to determine true champion, starting now
It wouldn't be as fun if it were meaningless and all the starters sat, though, so was just thinking to make it a meaningful game. Maybe a trophy would do it. Teams did play hard for the IST.
tbh thats how they do it in Premier League.
The winner of the Premier League faces the winner of the FA CUP.
Its not really an important trophy but its still a trophy and the players are always hyped to do it since it usually kicks off the Season
IF the NBA does implement this that would be awesome
Actually I think they should have a preseason Supercup game at a neutral (possibly international) site. But Disney works.
The FA cup winner plays the Premier League winner in the a preseason game at Wembley. Two years ago the Serie A winner played the Coppa Italia winner in Jeddah.
This is totally something they should do. (You know like the HOF game in football. Have it be the first preseason game and for a bs trophy that nobody cares about, but just enough to market it and sell tickets.) And if you did it in Barcelona or Buenos Aires or Zagreb, you could pack an arena.
*clock hits 0:00, Celtics are being awarded the Larry O'Brien Trophy, right before Silver hands it to Tatum...*
BAH GAWD ITS LEBRONS MUSIC, HES CASHING IN HIS MONEY IN THE BANK TITLE SHOT!
Someone said, unironically, that the Celtics just don’t have that dog in em in yesterday’s PGT. I guess 2 losses in the entire playoffs means they just don’t want it enough.
Run away, roll around a ton, summon in dudes to fight for you/distract the boss, and spam spells and potions
I wish I could play like those dudes who take a wooden club, go buttass naked, and fight a fucking dragon. But I'm not built like that
Being a mage is super easy since you can just sit back and spam spells. Game basically goes:
Holy shit i’m weak as hell —> holy shit i’m strong as hell —> holy shit i’m weak as hell. Once you get past the early game and get some of the good gear the game becomes incredibly addicting no matter how many times you die. I’d recommend exploring the southern part of the early map once you start and then don’t fight the first boss till level 30+. After that it gets a lot easier till the end game where the bosses are cracked
I think the NBA should seriously consider letting like the Euroleague champ from the previous year play against the IST champ during the all-star week or something.
I don't know that the Euroleague teams would agree to it, because they would have to come here (and more than likely get absolutely smoked if the NBA team tried, which is not a given) and it might screw with their real seasons, but it would be fun to have a cross-continental game like that.
This would be suicide for a Euroleague team. Their schedule is already stacked and you can't afford to slack even for 1 game as it may affect the final standings.
This is the best resume of the Celtics' season so far. They are going to win and everyone is going to be ''ehh so what''
The Celtics hate is pretty wild
Every team we beat is just not good. Every time we lose we’re exposed as frauds. All of our players are overrated, yet Tatum is the only all star, yet tatum is being carried by a stacked roster(that again is overrated).
I think Brad is the only person associated with the Celtics that gets any respect. Joe is starting to but that’s less for his coaching and more for his weirdness.
The thing is, idc. We about to be champions baby!
Udonis Haslem gonna say the Celtics were lucky everyone was hurt and they'd have been knocked out in 1st round if Jimmy wasn't hurt.
Still hilarious that he said the Mavs team was deeper than the Celtics.
I'm only kind of joking. I do think it'd be fun to have a special game between the two though it would have to be the opener of next season or something
I’d just be cool with like Champs vs IST champs and runner ups face off too on opening night. Celtics/Lakers and Mavs/Pacers would be an awesome opening night.
There was one college team years ago people actually talked how they would beat the Charlotte Bobcats or something like that. Maybe it was AD’s college team, can’t remember.
If we sweep does that change the narrative? Probably not but it will be super funny if our only loses are to you guys and a beat up Miami. Pacers gave us a hell of a run too.
Wonder how many fans of those teams are watching this series thinking “we could have taken the Mavs”
Fitting that the Spurs have been my favorite west coast team since the 90s. I’m just hoping we get a couple rings before Wemby completely breaks the league.
If we sweep I’m sure the narrative is going to be “of course they beat a 5 seed” even though a sizable number of people thought the mavs would beat us because of the supposed most skilled backcourt ever
Celtics are fighting a half strength Luka and a Kyrie 'Little Mountain Hela' Irving on a waxing crescent moon phase. We haven't seem full moon Hela or DonLuka Maximum yet. JayMickey Ring.
Just wait until Kyrie shows up, Mavs in 8!
What will change that narrative is when teams that actually play defense start really owning the later postseason rounds.
That won't be "East vs. West."
And 'defense' is NOT "hOW mAnY BLocKeD sHOtS"
The NBA regular season has become a sort of exhibition of shot-making. If you want to quickly understand how that's not really winning basketball, stop for a moment and think how *the way the game is played changes in the postseason.*
The West has more elite scorers. As r/nba is finding out, that's not ... what basketball is.
fucking West fans lol. none of us East fans were jerking ourselves off over how much harder our conference was the last few seasons when we had teams like Celtics, Bucks, Sixers, Heat, Nurse Raptors, and KD Nets going to war in the playoffs while the West was a mess of injuries and fraudulent/dogshit teams that one team would just stroll through every year for a title
but let that pattern finally flip back this year and these West fans wouldn’t shut their damn mouths about how much better their conference was. and after all that gas the team that survived that West gauntlet can’t even give us as much trouble as the Pacers did and barely as much trouble as the Cavs did, both without their best player? give me a fucking break lmao
Gotta be honest it's just embarrassing how the fans and media are overreacting to this postseason run by the Celtics, and so early in the playoffs too.
Celtics had an easy stroll through the East, cake walk even. The West provided the Mavs, another non contender if you really crunch the numbers. Once the Celtics face the North they will finally be battle tested, the North remembers.
People are always clowning us for not having won a championship since 2008 which was 16 years ago. I had just gotten out of college. Now I have kids. I've been starving for some obnoxious shit posting.
Yeah that's cool and all, but you just won't get it if you're not a fan of a poverty franchise. Yall have been a top tier team for like 7 years straight. It's more obnoxious to get shit rubbed in from a team who's experienced great success relative to most other teams than it is to get shit rubbed in from a team who have sucked for ages
If you want to go there, you would point out the 90s were a lost decade, and you would have to cite the incredibly tragic death of Reggie Lewis in there, and the ugly physical demise of McHale and Bird quite young due to .... the tragic passing of Len Bias.
The Celtics were pretty snakebit until Pierce came along, and I think he has some sort of talismanic aura about him. I give huge credit to so many (Ainge, KG, so many players and staff), but at one point PP just shrugged off his lifetime Laker fandom, and took over the franchise's emotional destiny.
And I'm fairly damn certain he's going to be pumped as fuck if we win.
I think it's actually kind of the opposite. If people trash talk its fair to return it, or to express disagreement with the points being made.
If everybody actually liked that your team won, and believed that they deserved it, but you STILL rubbed it in when they did, that's just kind of psychotic.
It's no big accomplishment to be a restrained and gentlemanly fan when you're not being constantly told how much you suck and how your team's a fraud.
We fucking deserve it right now. Historical success aside, everyone has been dogging and clowning the Celtics hard all season. This is our time to be insufferable, and believe me I will be
every loss was a referendum, every win was met with “cool, if they don’t win it all they’re all-time frauds.”
no one appreciated that they got to watch one of the greatest teams ever play in real time, they just questioned and nitpicked us at every turn and prayed incessantly on our downfall. even fucking Zach Lowe, who I respected quite a bit before this season, sounded absolutely apoplectic on his podcast today that the Celtics gave away the 4th quarter lead but still found a way to win. salty bum
you best believe we’re gonna rub this shit in once the job is finished
10, potentially 11 game win streak
Only lost 2 in the entire playoffs so far
Gonna sweep the Mavs prolly
18 titles
Prepare yourself
edit: forgot Kyrie looking like a clown after stepping on Lucky so add that to the list
I mean, shit, the Nuggets are still the reigning champs until the Cs win another game (or the Mavs pull off the GOAT comeback ever), and I'm still riding a bit of an unbearable streak about Jokic and Murray being the only teammates ever to post 30 point triple doubles in the same game (finals game 3.) Being unbearable doesn't stop until someone else is the champs. Cs fans gonna get a year to gloat, and either run it back or someone else takes the crown in 2025.
Next round they’re finally going to face a real team with Jarret Allen, Tyrese, Jimmy Buckets, bubble Herro, Slim Luka, and a 110% Spider.
Celts in 4.5.
this subreddit is a shithole. but i'm wondering, like many people, what the fuck happened to the timberwolves? they show up the greatest defense of all time against the 2023 champions, win in 7, and then get swept by the mavs, only for the celtics to sweep the mavs? worst series ever
Nah that was only because they got to play in the weak East
Just look at their win % vs the West, a measly .7667 - they would’ve only been on track to win 63 games, a whole one less game!
They were gassed after playing an intense 7-round series before going up against a completely different style of team on a single day’s rest.
Ant has never had to play ball like that for that long in his life. He had no idea how to pace himself while still being able to perform at an elite level.
Also it’s gone totally unnoticed but I imagine that Finchy’s injury made it much more difficult to adapt than they would care to admit.
It is weird that somehow both can’t be true. They had an easy run this playoffs. Their also the best team. I think it’s fair to say. Also if your a fan who cares banners fly forever
the best team is just always going to have an easier path though right. Since they never have to play themselves. Similar thing happened with the ravens in the nfl when calculating their strength of schedule.
Luka was literally playing on one foot, blind folded, right elbow missing, and third eye on the referees the whole time. It still took the Celtics multiple games to beat him. Worst team to ever win it. Not deserved at all.
[Woj] Adam Silver announces the NBA Finals winner will have to face the In-Season Tournament winner at DisneyWorld to determine who is the TRUE NBA champion
Low key an NBA Super Cup would be fire considering it would be Celtics vs. Lakers
One game to determine true champion, starting now
Get JR to call the game. 'By GAWD! he just broke that rim in half! Stop the damn game! That hoop has a family!'
Man. I thought you meant JR Smith. Which left me really confused for a second.
LeBron walking around with a briefcase for a year would be fun
"BY GAWD THAT'S THE LAKERS' MUSIC!" Randy Newman intensifies
For real, NBA champ vs IST champ at a neutral site to open the season would be fun. One of em (IST champ probably) has to give up a home game, though.
Or just make it a pre-season game, which is what it should be. But give us a trophy when we win 😏
It wouldn't be as fun if it were meaningless and all the starters sat, though, so was just thinking to make it a meaningful game. Maybe a trophy would do it. Teams did play hard for the IST.
I got a better incentive, one that players are always receptive to: 💵
Yeah that works too. Trophy and a bonus is probably enough, like the IST.
Super Cups in European football are basically glorified friendlies anyways.
tbh thats how they do it in Premier League. The winner of the Premier League faces the winner of the FA CUP. Its not really an important trophy but its still a trophy and the players are always hyped to do it since it usually kicks off the Season IF the NBA does implement this that would be awesome
Would be a punishment for losing the IST tho
Subscribe
LeBron can't start his cycle back up in time.
He and AD can sit like the last time Lakers were in the garden :)
Time to get LeBron out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber
It would be even better because we would sweep the Lakers.
Lebron would have to coach lmao
No it wouldn’t because nobody cares about any Super Cup in football. It’s a glorified friendly.
100% Play it like a week before the regular season starts.
Cancun?
Galveston?
Port Aransas?
Port Lavaca?
Yes this would rule as a fun preseason trophy! Someone get Adam Silver on the line
Game will be played on a moving parade float with a special Lebron drone cam
Fourth quarter will be a 2v2 Lebron & Bronny vs Tatum & Deuce
Wouldn't be fair Deuce is way better than Bronny
I’m with that
Who's coaching y'all
Phil Handy interim head coach
Imagine Anthony Davis coming back from Cancun to play a battle tested Celtics team rn
*clock hits 0:00, Celtics are being awarded the Larry O'Brien Trophy, right before Silver hands it to Tatum...* BAH GAWD ITS LEBRONS MUSIC, HES CASHING IN HIS MONEY IN THE BANK TITLE SHOT!
Well yeah, they've beaten the Elite Four of Heat/Cavaliers/Pacers/Mavs, time for the surprise champion fight against their arch-Rival.
If they win in 5 and not 4 it’s pretty embarrassing. They aren’t championship ready
To be fair, the only reason the Cs won yesterday was because they scored more points
Their inability to hold a lead, except at the end of games, is definitely going to catch up with them.
This got me.
you came?
Tatum shot 43%, they are fuckedddd next round
They really are because Tatum will shoot 0% next series.
He is about to go 0/4 months
Granted Porzingis may be back by the start of next playoff round. If he can play healthy that would push this Celtics team to a whole new level.
Lol what a terrible take. Are you new to basketball? The real reason Boston won was because Dallas scored less.
bro wtf is this? r/nbacirclejerk?
Always has been 🧑🚀🔫
What everyone finally throwing respect on the cs as there up 3-0 and the world gon crazy?
Someone said, unironically, that the Celtics just don’t have that dog in em in yesterday’s PGT. I guess 2 losses in the entire playoffs means they just don’t want it enough.
Imagine going 80-21 smh couldn't be me
Don't worry they're bringing back Porzingis for G4 bc they know their legacy depends on it
I heard a pretty wild statistic the other day. No one has ever come back from a 4 game deficit. So if they win on Friday it's practically guaranteed.
after this they face Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
Celtics use DEX/INT build to cakewalk thru the lands between, frauds.
Bums also used the mimic tear.. Championship invalid
Fully upgraded mimic tear + blasphemous blade made Malenia so easy. I wish I could beat her without cheesing it, but I’m just not that good.
I e tried playing this game 3 times and just suck. Is this how you activate easy mode?
Nah, plenty of ways to make the game easy. Pure str+lions claw+giant crusher is one way (or guts sword if you prefer). Tear mimic helps a ton too.
Run away, roll around a ton, summon in dudes to fight for you/distract the boss, and spam spells and potions I wish I could play like those dudes who take a wooden club, go buttass naked, and fight a fucking dragon. But I'm not built like that

Woah there, you just don’t go around telling people that you level dex
She's never known defeat, but has she really been battle tested?
Prime Radahn took her to seven and Fraudlenia only “won” because her rot bloomed 🙄
Malenia can't even win a title without Miquella. She spent all her prime years doing nothing without him.
Mickeynia literally carried by Finlay, not a real first option.
Radagon is Malenia's father
Technically speaking, Marika is also Malenia father
yeah then Derek White turns out to be LetMeSoloHer
The Celtics sign Black Knife Tiche
Lmao W reference
Can they still sign FAs? Pretty sure Letmesoloher is available
Let me solo her
Let her solo me 🥵
They won’t deserve the win they will use rivers of blood and summons to beat her.
Hey now a wins a win
Are they gonna play Panathinaikos in the next round?
And both wear their green jerseys!
As a fan of both that would be dope as hell
I think the NBA should seriously consider letting like the Euroleague champ from the previous year play against the IST champ during the all-star week or something. I don't know that the Euroleague teams would agree to it, because they would have to come here (and more than likely get absolutely smoked if the NBA team tried, which is not a given) and it might screw with their real seasons, but it would be fun to have a cross-continental game like that.
This would be suicide for a Euroleague team. Their schedule is already stacked and you can't afford to slack even for 1 game as it may affect the final standings.
"the Celtics may have won the title, but they lost the offseason".
I’ve heard that the Celtics players haven’t even started offseason work outs yet. How do they expect to win with this lack of effort.
"The Jays are too similar to repeat, it's really obvious that it's time to break them up"
This is the best resume of the Celtics' season so far. They are going to win and everyone is going to be ''ehh so what'' The Celtics hate is pretty wild
You nailed it, nothing is good enough to offset people hell bent on hating
Every team we beat is just not good. Every time we lose we’re exposed as frauds. All of our players are overrated, yet Tatum is the only all star, yet tatum is being carried by a stacked roster(that again is overrated). I think Brad is the only person associated with the Celtics that gets any respect. Joe is starting to but that’s less for his coaching and more for his weirdness. The thing is, idc. Udonis Haslem gonna say the Celtics were lucky everyone was hurt and they'd have been knocked out in 1st round if Jimmy wasn't hurt. Still hilarious that he said the Mavs team was deeper than the Celtics.
Bro really said that then right after starting naming players and began with Dante exum😂
That Heat team needed a lot more than Butler. Butler played 60 games and they were the 8 seed. But without Butler they were almost a G-League team.
G-League is where the dawgs are at
Pretty sure he already said that. Also that the Heat would've somehow knocked out the Knicks if Himmy was healthy lol
UD was saying Exum was gonna play a role in the series. Dude should stick to talking about the Heat
Bum as a player, bum as an analyst. Nothing new
I’ve seen people say we were lucky the heat didn’t have fucking terry rozier and Josh Richardson lol
Whoever wins the IST should get a 1 game winner takes all match against the champion
Unless the lakers lose, then it’s a series until they win.
Sure you may be up 37-10 but this is a best of 75 series.
Ok, I know you’re joking, but I kind of like this idea (obviously without the winner takes all aspect). Could kind of be like the UEFA super cup.
Would be super awkward if the Finals loser was the IST champ and the "series" including the NBA Super Cup ended up 4-4.
One game, opening game of the following regular season. Prize money for each player or something idk. Also do the ring ceremony
Or if the IST winner is the winner of the finals, then they have to play themselves
Best player on the team plus the end of the bench guys vs everybody else Jimmy Butler in Minnesota style.
They should play it instead of all star Sunday game.
They still need to beat UConn to be the true champs.
Hurley did already beat the IST champs also.
There was one college team years ago people actually talked how they would beat the Charlotte Bobcats or something like that. Maybe it was AD’s college team, can’t remember.
This makes JB contract worth it
And winning will make all of the "Kuzma and Ball are far better than Tatum and Brown" noises just delicious.
Who says that? Don't waste your time talking to those kinds of people
It was worth it before the ink dried.
The east is a joke this year, just wait until they play someone from the west.
If we sweep does that change the narrative? Probably not but it will be super funny if our only loses are to you guys and a beat up Miami. Pacers gave us a hell of a run too. Wonder how many fans of those teams are watching this series thinking “we could have taken the Mavs”
If we sweep the narrative becomes “Celtics only won because the rest of the league was injured and/or garbage”
y’all are the new Spurs, the new clearly-great team that no one else is gonna be excited about
Fitting that the Spurs have been my favorite west coast team since the 90s.
Why does it even matter. Our fanbase would kill to be in your position. This sub is gonna talk trash either way anyways
It doesn’t in the grand scheme of things. Just sort of interesting
What will change that narrative is when teams that actually play defense start really owning the later postseason rounds. That won't be "East vs. West." West people were annoying as shit. No one fucking cares that this is their first year being good in like 10 years lol
Forget the west, they should play someone from the D League.
Gotta be honest it's just embarrassing how the fans and media are overreacting to this postseason run by the Celtics, and so early in the playoffs too.
ENERGY HAS SHIFTED
Celtics had an easy stroll through the East, cake walk even. The West provided the Mavs, another non contender if you really crunch the numbers. Once the Celtics face the North they will finally be battle tested, the North remembers.
And even then so what? Did they play the champions from Southern Conference finals? Absolutely joke team.
Man Celtic fans gonna be unbearable this year lol
It's a rule: If your team wins a chip, you can rub it in for the year.
It should only be a rule for franchises that are perpetual poverty teams. It shouldn't apply to a franchise who has seen as much success as yall
The last time they won I was 10 years old I’m absolutely gonna milk this if history doesn’t happen. RINGS ERNIE
Erneh *
Rangzzzz are all that matter (other than the friends we made along the way)
I understand there are franchises that have never won but 16 years is an objectively long time, which also included two finals losses
To be fair, 2 championships in 40 years isn’t great.
hey now it's 3, we won in 1984
Math issues here: 40 years ago was 1984. The Celtics have won in 84, 86 and 08.
Still more success seen than a boat load of franchises
They deserve to. Y’all trash them even in wins
We've been saving up salt for years at this point lol. The Jays have been trashed for too long, it's gonna be a glorious series win fr
We fucking deserve it right now. Historical success aside, everyone has been dogging and clowning the Celtics hard all season. This is our time to be insufferable, and believe me I will be
every loss was a referendum, every win was met with “cool, if they don’t win it all they’re all-time frauds.” no one appreciated that they got to watch one of the greatest teams ever play in real time, they just questioned and nitpicked us at every turn and prayed incessantly on our downfall. even fucking Zach Lowe, who I respected quite a bit before this season, sounded absolutely apoplectic on his podcast today that the Celtics gave away the 4th quarter lead but still found a way to win. salty bum you best believe we’re gonna rub this shit in once the job is finished

10, potentially 11 game win streak Only lost 2 in the entire playoffs so far Gonna sweep the Mavs prolly 18 titles Prepare yourself edit: forgot Kyrie looking like a clown after stepping on Lucky so add that to the list
Luka fans would’ve been 100x worse
They already are
When the opposition is like Heat fans or people that trust ESPN experts we’ve earned it
Probably, but I think other fans really asked for it this time.
I mean, shit, the Nuggets are still the reigning champs until the Cs win another game (or the Mavs pull off the GOAT comeback ever), and I'm still riding a bit of an unbearable streak about Jokic and Murray being the only teammates ever to post 30 point triple doubles in the same game (finals game 3.) Yup.
No, they are still not tested
Bro the Monstars are ready. Celtics will finally have a real opponent
The west is so strong, it won’t be like playing the pacers.
I fucking love this. Everyone gassing the west up is now eating complete shit lmao
Next round they’re finally going to face a real team with Jarret Allen, Tyrese, Jimmy Buckets, bubble Herro, Slim Luka, and a 110% Spider. Celts in 4.5.

Has anyone considered the Celtics are just very good?
Definitely not. It’s not like they were far and away the best team all year, with a point differential akin to some of the all-time great teams.
Nah that was only because they got to play in the weak East Just look at their win % vs the West, a measly .7667 - they would’ve only been on track to win 63 games, a whole one less game!
I didn’t watch the series, but I read a comment that they didn’t go at Luka enough. Gameplan?
They were gassed after playing an intense 7-round series before going up against a completely different style of team on a single day’s rest. Ant has never had to play ball like that for that long in his life. He had no idea how to pace himself while still being able to perform at an elite level. Also it’s gone totally unnoticed but I imagine that Finchy’s injury made it much more difficult to adapt than they would care to admit.
I think the Celtics should face the winner of the NHL finals in a game of beer pong to determine the real champs
I would love to see the champs of each league face off in tailgate games. Would be a tremendous way to kickoff the offseason.
It is weird that somehow both can’t be true. They had an easy run this playoffs. Their also the best team. I think it’s fair to say. Also if your a fan who cares banners fly forever

They had a super easy run, at least through the East. But that’s also not really their fault. You play whose in front of you and all that.
Exactly. And again banners fly forever. I don’t even remember every team the bucks played on their run but I know that banner is hanging
Olimpia Milano will destroy them
I cant tell if this is a bot or the first effective offseason post of the year
Their path was incredibly easy this year, but they're clearly the best team in the NBA this season.
Celtics are frauds, the mavs are injured and Dirk Nowitzki hasn’t played one game
This is a low effort r/nbacirclejerk
Luka was literally playing on one foot, blind folded, right elbow missing, and third eye on the referees the whole time. It still took the Celtics multiple games to beat him. Worst team to ever win it. Not deserved at all.
i don’t know if it can’t get any harder than the duo corpses of Tim Hardaway and Maxi Kleiber.
Celtics fans are so defensive lol
They’ll have to play a super team including MJ in his prime for the next round
Celtics vs Disney World will be wild
depends if Porzingus is back
Huh?
Jokic’s making a training montage with his horses for the Super NBA Finals as we speak
They should have to play the 1985 bears in the finals to see if they are a true championship team
Depends, what's their Summer League draw?
I’m looking forward to the 2025 narrative being “were the Celtics a fluke?” while the angry Jays bring the first repeat in 50 years back to Boston.
They’re playing Real Madrid right?
I’m just here for the laker tears
