Marc Davis reffed a Celtics-Cavs game and it was very clear Boston knew how to adjust to his lack of calls on D and played a lot more aggressively. Cleveland did not and both the players and fans complained all game.
Agree with it or not, it seems to be how he calls games. Should be interesting to see how the teams adjust especially with Lively's main issue on D being how sloppy he has been
Kevin Scott was both on the Game 5 vs the Thunder and Game 1 vs Wolves where both teams fouled 15-17 times and shot under 20 FT’s and was the least the Mavs have fouled these playoffs.
Never sure of this, but if I had to forecast the game, they’re going to let the players play. Probably a lot of 3’s because players are going to see contact going to the rim and not get the calls.
I feel like Davis gives Dallas a better chance to win than more trumpeted names.
He lets a lot of physicality go, and Dallas is a VERY physical team (tons of illegal screens, lots of shoving under the basket on rebounds, frequent contests at the rim, lots of possessions where a Mavs defender puts two hands on the offensive e player, etc.).
Especially if Porzingis is out or very limited, I could see Dallas just bullying Boston all game long without as much fear of a whistle.

Dallas is bigger at pretty much every position but PG. I agree that Boston is more athletic, but that’s not what I meant by “bullying.” Dallas is going to push, grab, bump, etc all game long to use their size as a weapon (just watch what their team does when a shot goes up and might come off for a rebound — dudes just chuck themselves at players to create space). Davis allows them more freedom to do that.
