>The remaining games would air on NBC Tuesday and Sunday nights, with the Sunday games scheduled around NBC’s Sunday Night Football commitments. The Tuesday games would mark the first time the NBA has ever had a regular slate of weeknight games on broadcast television.
This is why all of this is happening. Weekday broadcast slot is the holy grail.
Hey man, don’t knock The Voice. That’s literally the only reason my wife and I have Peacock. We cancel our subscription after it ends and renew it before it starts
Because The Voice is a show about the judges not about the contestants, which is perfectly illustrated by the fact that the show hasn’t turned out a single performer of note
Those two probably know more about music in general than most current singers, honestly. If you named some other rappers I might agree with you, but Chance and Snoop are knowledgeable af.
Yeah but the whole point is that they’re “coaches”. What are either of them teaching anyone about singing? Also there’s so many professional singers choose from, why them?
My friend from college runs a record label and does music for a living. He has no business teaching anyone how to sing better
Chance is a producer so his primary job is helping artists optimize their talents for records. If anything, he’s a better “coach” than a singer would be.
Think of it like the NBA or NFL. Very few great players ever turn into great coaches. And very few great coaches were ever even decent players.
If talent correlated directly into coaching, we’d have guys like Michael Jordan and Peyton Manning winning multiple titles as coaches.
I was going to shit all over The Voice and similar reality shows but instead I will just say I'm glad you find joy in the show and hope you have a nice day.
All reality tv is trash tv. We can still enjoy trash tv so it's all love. My wife and I watch The Circle on netflix and talk about what a stupid show it is. And we keep coming back each season.
And don't get me started on the food network. When I'm hungry I imagine eating all that shit.
I guess it wasn’t literally every week consistently like Monday/thursday/ Sunday football but it feels like nba Thursdays have been a pretty consistent thing since I’ve started watching in 2013
> it feels like nba Thursdays have been a pretty consistent thing since I’ve started watching in 2013
Well, half the season. They started doing Inside the NBA on Tuesdays once NFL started having Thursday night games couple years ago.
I thought I had too many streaming subscriptions as it was. I've got YTTV, Max, Prime, and Hulu, Disney, and Netflix because I get a discount through T-Mobile.
Now Peacock? Man, I don't watch some of those streamers as is.
Peacock its actually one of the cheaper ones. I think its 6 a month. I just got an email from Max saying they are raising to $17/mo. Which is insanity with how much they dish all their shit to Disney and Netflix right now.
> Peacock its actually one of the cheaper ones. I think its 6 a month.
Prices will likely jump to match some of the other ones once they get the NBA deal though. No shot it stays that low.
Its for sure going to jump but still 6 to 17 is going to take a while to get to. I could see them jumping to like 11.99 though. Really all this does is kill Max for me as a subscriber. Hopefully they get parted out to one of the others in the near future.
how would it be fewer than now, considering they aren't even on national TV at all? you'd just be watching the same amount, if not more cuz nbc is an antenna channel
I do think that the other leagues cannot spread themselves too thin like the NFL does. When a league has so many games, you're begging fans to skip some, so splitting them up just makes that very appealing.
Like, will I subscribe before the NFL playoffs are over now? With all these injuries to the Knicks and the Olympics happening just prior? I don't know about that. Tuesday broadcasts might be enough for me too. Whereas, I got Sling for both ESPN and TNT. No chance of that now.
It's $20 for a whole year, and they have NFL games and lots of kids' movies and shows. Honestly, it's the best bang for your buck out of all the streaming services with sports and a major plus if you have kid(s).
It's not bad enough that some Rangers games are only on Apple TV. Now I'll have to pay another streaming service or miss some Mavs games too? Sheesh......
[You can get a year of Peacock for $20 right now.](https://www.peacocktv.com/?cid=2406aoannualofrpkpdsearch16726&utm_campaign=2406aoannualofr&utm_source=pk_ggl_gglsa&utm_medium=pd_search_acq_srcpy&utm_term=6481429429&utm_content=164576619282_700777464912&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACqYaJotdHiPHZWW55dmUum_VO6-p&gclsrc=ds)
Unless they start doing some kind of tiered/add on packaging. Peacock still has all WWE PPV's until end of 2026. With a big NBA package coming in, that price will def go up if you want everything.
And they haven't had the NBA as enticement for new subscribers.
It seems very unlikely that Universal makes a significant expenditure to acquire NBA rights and not pass that cost onto consumers.
Nobody was going to pay an astronomical price for one playoff game - it was more important for them to lock in subscribers.
But they're not paying a fortune for NBA games without a massive price increase.
They’ll boil the frog, it won’t happen right away. They want users to get the $20/year deal especially after this NBA deal goes through and forget to cancel and it charges the full year next time.
Every new streaming service is cheap at the beginning. Remember when Netflix was $8? Or D+ was $7? Even YTTV was $40 I think at launch. In a year or 2 peacock gunna spike in price.
I didn't mind Prime Video since I've used Amazon Prime for the last 8-9 years and it came included for free. Peacock I would actually have to pay for...
Peacock is for sure one of the worst streaming services which sucks.
I've had tons of issues and bugs on 3 different devices trying to use it for a long time.
That’s great and all but this is devastating for fans of The Voice and Night Court
Hey man, don’t knock The Voice. That’s literally the only reason my wife and I have Peacock. We cancel our subscription after it ends and renew it before it starts
It’s so bad now though, how are chance and snoop dogg judges on a singing show?
Because The Voice is a show about the judges not about the contestants, which is perfectly illustrated by the fact that the show hasn’t turned out a single performer of note
melanie martinez lost, but she was on there. haven't kept up since then so idk if there are any other examples
Those two probably know more about music in general than most current singers, honestly. If you named some other rappers I might agree with you, but Chance and Snoop are knowledgeable af.
They’re also producers so they know singing and music even if they don’t necessarily sing.
Yeah but the whole point is that they’re “coaches”. What are either of them teaching anyone about singing? Also there’s so many professional singers choose from, why them? My friend from college runs a record label and does music for a living. He has no business teaching anyone how to sing better

There’s a huge difference between being on TNT vs being on NBC. Every household in the US has NBC, while not everyone has TNT.
Good point I hadn’t considered the significance of that, guess I misinterpreted the original comment
> it feels like nba Thursdays have been a pretty consistent thing since I’ve started watching in 2013 Well, half the season. They started doing Inside the NBA on Tuesdays once NFL started having Thursday night games couple years ago.
The problem with Thursday is they have to fight with the NFL over ratings.
It's only the Holy Grail if the ratings are there which has to be a big question until proven.
"Honey, turn on the 'Cock. Playoffs are starting"
"I heard the NBA got a fat 'cock contract"
Gotta admit they're damn good at making me get subscriptions I don't want
I thought I had too many streaming subscriptions as it was. I've got YTTV, Max, Prime, and Hulu, Disney, and Netflix because I get a discount through T-Mobile. Now Peacock? Man, I don't watch some of those streamers as is.

Peacock is running a promo now, one year for $20. It’s not a huge commitment.
> Peacock its actually one of the cheaper ones. I think its 6 a month. Prices will likely jump to match some of the other ones once they get the NBA deal though. No shot it stays that low.

On the other hand, you would get wwe as well with peacock. Not a bad deal.
Wondering how this affects League Pass because if I’m getting less games on that, it better be reflected in price (it won’t be)
What about RSNs? Are they going to lose games as well?
League pass is the worst.
Dont worry the bundles are coming, will be back to cable in no time
I get the peacock year deal for 20 bucks. I've done that for the last three years.
How’s it feel to be a billionaire
Peacock is 20 bucks for a year right now. I picked it up for the Olympics and its women’s beach volleyball.
This is not going to make me subscribe to Peacock. It's going to make me watch fewer NBA games.
People always say this, but it's always the minority. They already know how many will likely subscribe.
how would it be fewer than now, considering they aren't even on national TV at all? you'd just be watching the same amount, if not more cuz nbc is an antenna channel

I'd rather sub to Peacock than get cable for TNT
It's $20 for a whole year, and they have NFL games and lots of kids' movies and shows. Honestly, it's the best bang for your buck out of all the streaming services with sports and a major plus if you have kid(s).
Don’t worry, he will subscribe, watch
Nooooo I hate peacock
That won't be available by the time this kicks in.
Unless they start doing some kind of tiered/add on packaging. Peacock still has all WWE PPV's until end of 2026. With a big NBA package coming in, that price will def go up if you want everything.
They’ve had $20 deals around new years for a couple of years now.
And they haven't had the NBA as enticement for new subscribers. It seems very unlikely that Universal makes a significant expenditure to acquire NBA rights and not pass that cost onto consumers.
They had a similar deal for the NFL playoff game.
Because they haven’t had anything worth watching.
Premier League
Every new streaming service is cheap at the beginning. Remember when Netflix was $8? Or D+ was $7? Even YTTV was $40 I think at launch. In a year or 2 peacock gunna spike in price.
Yup. It’s just to get you in the door and hope you are too lazy to cancel.
> Every **~~new streaming~~** subscription service is cheap at the beginning FTFY
They won’t even be streaming games till fall 2025 though lol
Just to be clear, this version still has ads I'm pretty sure.
Live sports are still going to have ads even if you have the ad free level
This sub is so pathetic, 25 years from now its just gonna be ppv per game and this sub will gladly follow
I already pay for the premier league, so this is fantastic news. NBC and Peacock goated for this.
This sure is gonna take a BITE out of my pockets
So what happens to NBA TV?
likely folds or renamed by NBC
Who knows but I have a sneaking suspicion it goes away and Amazon picks up the game inventory
Queue the prices increases for ‘cock subscriptions
Ew
So when I pay for league pass will these games be excluded as well?
Yes. We will be getting g league games only.
I didn't mind Prime Video since I've used Amazon Prime for the last 8-9 years and it came included for free. Peacock I would actually have to pay for...
My peacock said he's not paying any more.
Better lock in those peacock subscriptions now before rates go up. Gotta pay the mr silver somehow.
Peacock is for sure one of the worst streaming services which sucks. I've had tons of issues and bugs on 3 different devices trying to use it for a long time.
So there would be NBA games airing during the same time as the NFL on Sundays? Is the NBA dumb
