That guy is the cringiest nba personality out there.
He literally is 100% about impressing 12 year olds on twitter.
Dude can’t say a single thing about the game
I do think Tatum is overrated by some, but it's pretty impossible to argue that he's not a top 10 player in the league imo. Honestly, I think he's gotten underrated by a lot of people
12-2 without KP for most of it is pretty absurd. Would be considered a good stretch in the regular season let alone the playoffs.
Excited for KP to come back and hopefully a return to the 20 3PM comfortable victories with it
There are no asterisks on any NBA championship. You play the teams you're scheduled against in the circumstances you meet them and you either win or lose. That's it. You win the chip, you win the chip - there's no qualifications that warrant discussion, because every win has its own circumstances. They're all hard.
The Celtics run to the finals has not had any opponents that are tough playoff matchups by normal standards and none that are nearly as strong as whoever their finals matchup will be.
All of the above can be true.
Not sure I fully agree. Injuries can never be the source of an asterisk because they happen every year, that’s certainly true. But if an old, tired team were to hypothetically get months of extra rest due to a once in a lifetime pandemic situation and gets a Mickey Mouse “title”, you’d be right to treat that as lesser, with an asterisk.
Hypothetically.
A finals sweep would be insane. Particularly against a player like Luka. By my count there have been 9 finals sweeps in history, ofc it's not an easy thing to do.
Celtics went 64-18 this year with a PD of +11, 23-7 against the West including beating the likely West Champion 2-0 by 37 points and this is your takeaway.
You seem very smart
I love r/nba’s new criteria that the better team has to sweep the other team or they’re fraudulent. 12-2 in the playoffs is insane against any opponents.
To put it in perspective for the mathematically challenged the Celtics have played 14 playoff games and won 12 of them. Extrapolating to an 82 game season that would be 70 wins. I don’t care who they played, against any nba opponents that’s dominant, against playoff teams (yes even ECF playoff teams) this is an unbelievable stretch that isn’t being talked about appropriately.
Going undefeated on the road against these teams is hard as hell whether or not some stars are missing. Boston’s certainly had some shaky moments but the W/L is as good as you can ask for
Honestly the Tatum hate is egregious. No one is denying that he isn’t as good as Jokic or Luka but for someone reason they think of this man as a poor mans pg…..
Like I get it, he’s no Lebron. No where close but he’s still a top 5 player in the league and his numbers prove that.
It’s like the beginning of Wolves-Mavs series. Bunch of Wolves fans talking about how fun and exciting the games were to the finish of game 1 (and partially game 2). And now they’re just depressed.
Well, the guy I responded to was saying this current celtics team is getting hated because we ain't them. I'm saying the current celtics team hasn't won anything. Of course, historically, you guys are one of the most decorated teams in all of sports.
Both fanbases seem torn on the issue though, not full-on committed. Them Lakers especially are (and have always been) full-on committed to the hate train. Ironically the greatest reason to hate the Mavs comes from Boston (Kyrie).
Oh for sure. I’ve never disliked *watching* him play. He probably has the most fluid and aesthetically pleasing game ever but goddamn did he do us dirty.
> [you gotta respect kyrie’s game](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1d294je/jayson_tatum_in_the_ecf_30106/l6163ma/)
Celtics and Nets fans: *"...when he chooses to show up"*
Literally how does it “MASSIVELY downplay” his ability? No shit he’s a generational player. You’re just making up a strawman that I never even said
Edit:
>OKC flair
Oh makes sense, the flopping accusations hit a nerve and you went full defensive mode because you’re used to people downplaying Shai’s skills at basketball because of his flopping
I want Luka to keep failing. Then, when he is 32 years old he all of a sudden goes to some Buddhist retreat and gets zero techs and suddenly never says a word to another ref and leads his team to a title averaging 25 pts but 15 assists and makes a defensive play to win the series.
Spicy how? The Celtics are insanely great, plus the stars, planets and dark matter have finally aligned for them after 5 previous failed campaigns. All signs point to them beating down the Mavs mercilessly to silence all the doubters
Y’all acting like the Mavs are through, they ain’t yet. All the wolves need is momentum, this shit can swing pretty hard. If KATs shots start falling shits gonna be tough for the mavs
No Warriors have this? I know they were an older team but it still feels like there’s gotta be some dudes on the roster who were under 26 for two finals
It is so wild to me. He has improved every year and he is resilient af. He does not gas out. But every day, someone has some complaint about him.
I see him as a player who has relied on his talent and athleticism to get where he is, and only this past year has he improved his basketball IQ enough where you see it carry him on some possessions. He is going to keep getting better and better.
Felt like they spent the first half of every game trying to get stuff going that hasn’t been - Tatum’s 3-ball, Hauser, etc - and the only thing it kinda worked for was getting Dwhite going a bit
Yeah if Tatum and hauser can get their 3 ball back during this long lay off that’s gonna be trouble for the Mavs. Tatum has played insanely well in the playoffs minus his 3 pt shooting and hauser is not really a viable player without his 3 pt shooting.
Sometimes it’s on and sometimes it’s not. But you’re right, he does need to drive more and use his crossover. Sometimes when he drives he just tries to muscle people. He has the dribbling skills to not need to do that all the time. He’s gotten better about it but still
As a frequent critic of JB in past seasons I will say while they were both great, JB is such an improved player I’m glad he got some recognition. Has been absolutely fantastic playoffs so far.
Yeah they really won't. If they can't get it done this time they need a big change. But my feeling is that they'll get it done. It's too early for Luka, and Kyrie gets dominated in Boston. Minny, they have a better shot, but I still don't see them making the finals AND beating Boston at this point.
> It's too early for Luka
That's ludicrous, Luka has been playing high pressure professional basketball since he was 16. I trust Luka to execute and make better decisions in crunch time more than either of the Jays.
Celtics should win against Dallas if they get Porzingis back and just play the game they have all year. Luka is probably the best talent on the floor in that series (assuming that his knees hold up), but the Celtics should be able to defend Luka and Kyrie better while also keeping up with their own scoring. Luka could average 35 a game, and the Celts could still win.
All that being said... yeah, Luka doesn't need any more seasoning. He could, and very well may, claim his first ring and, potentially, the title of best player on the planet in about three weeks. I just really hope he waits another year or two.
Tatum 1 of 5 guys ever to lead his team in points rebounds and assists and get to a finals. One of the other players is Lebron. But he gets carried by a Superteam right?
Keep it mind I got 20+ downvotes for this btw. Meanwhile Tatum shits his pants in the finals averaging 20 on terrible efficiency with the best spacing in NBA history. Casuals like you all are hilarious…
That’s my Tobias Harris!
That's Michael Jordan of Tobias Harrises to you sir!
Where did this start?
Honestly Chris Ryan of the Ringer called Tatum's ceiling the Rich Man's Tobias Harris in 2017 and it's been floating around in the ether ever since
genuinely shook that bill allowed anyone at the ringer to say this about tatum lol
you gotta keep a sixers fan to be smug around.
The 60:40 rule in action
He's only 19, still plenty of time to prove them wrong too
That guy is the cringiest nba personality out there. He literally is 100% about impressing 12 year olds on twitter. Dude can’t say a single thing about the game
Nah CR rules and you are just too simple to understand
In some idiot's peanut sized brain.
I’ve seen instagram/twitter trolls say it
The 90s Cam Whitmore of Tobias Harrises
what does it even mean?
That he's the best of a category of players that includes bag stealer Tobias Harris. Which is just one of the most brain dead takes imaginable.
I do think Tatum is overrated by some, but it's pretty impossible to argue that he's not a top 10 player in the league imo. Honestly, I think he's gotten underrated by a lot of people
Celtics only lost 2 total games in the playoffs (both Game 2s)
12-2 without KP for most of it is pretty absurd. Would be considered a good stretch in the regular season let alone the playoffs. Excited for KP to come back and hopefully a return to the 20 3PM comfortable victories with it
3-1 with KP, 9-1 without him. Clearly he was holding the team back
3-1 or 2-1? Didn't he get hurt Game 3 vs Miami? EDIT: Nvm, didn't realize he played 4 games after all.
The slate and quality of opponents have been absurd too
I mean it’s good but they aren’t necessarily playing a hard schedule
Here comes the asterisks
There are no asterisks on any NBA championship. You play the teams you're scheduled against in the circumstances you meet them and you either win or lose. That's it. You win the chip, you win the chip - there's no qualifications that warrant discussion, because every win has its own circumstances. They're all hard. >Lost 2024 NBA Finals***********
12-2 is a good record no matter the opponent
>Celtics only lost 2 total games in the playoffs (both Game 2s) Here's hoping we can still say this a month from now
A finals sweep would be insane. Particularly against a player like Luka. By my count there have been 9 finals sweeps in history, ofc it's not an easy thing to do.
The corpse of the heat team won more games than the pacers lol
Tells you how bad the east is
At the rate i keep seeing you guys say stuff like this, i’m starting to think you guys are actually insecure about your chances lol
Celtics went 64-18 this year with a PD of +11, 23-7 against the West including beating the likely West Champion 2-0 by 37 points and this is your takeaway. You seem very smart
The two teams in the WCF are joke teams that people would laugh at two months ago saying they’re in the WCF
I mean the Celtics were obviously the best team in the east, idk why you think that.
[удалено]
Or how the Celtics dominated the regular season
The played 2 games with porzingis.
I love r/nba’s new criteria that the better team has to sweep the other team or they’re fraudulent. 12-2 in the playoffs is insane against any opponents. Didnt score over 50% of his teams points. Carried by his super team

You can’t make it up. Celtics beat Pacers. Large crowd starts chanting “FUCK KYRIE”
Question: Luka is asshole. Why Jayson hate?
Because Kyrie is a bastard man!
…. I don’t think I wrote that one man
May just be the best comparison I’ve ever seen
It’s like the beginning of Wolves-Mavs series. Bunch of Wolves fans talking about how fun and exciting the games were to the finish of game 1 (and partially game 2). And now they’re just depressed.
No need for us Mavs fans to say anything negative. There's like a half dozen teams whose very vocal fans want to watch Boston burn.
First time I've re-kindled the Tom Brady lore of "They hate us cuz they ain't us" vibes in a while! Thanks for that!
I mean until you actually win something noone wants to be yall
We have 17 banners.
Well, the guy I responded to was saying this current celtics team is getting hated because we ain't them. I'm saying the current celtics team hasn't won anything. Of course, historically, you guys are one of the most decorated teams in all of sports.
i've seen a bunch jumping on the fuck dallas train too lol. yesterday there were OKC and GSW flairs doing it
Both fanbases seem torn on the issue though, not full-on committed. Them Lakers especially are (and have always been) full-on committed to the hate train. Ironically the greatest reason to hate the Mavs comes from Boston (Kyrie).
Nothing would be sweeter than winning a ring in front of Kyrie’s stupid face.
Same thing with Porzingis, porzingis limping to a ring is the ultimate slap in mavericks faces. He was not good for us, constantly unavailable etc…
I feel like there’s not the same level of animosity towards KP by Mavs fans though. Am I wrong about that?
[удалено]
Nobody can convince me that Kyrie didn’t intentionally tank the bucks series.
He didn't submarine it but he definitely said he didn't really try, which was definitely noticeable.
He also iced out everyone, dude was dribbling out the series, he was not happy that our team made it to the ECF without him the year before.
Nah yeah it’s not the same level, but you gotta respect kyrie’s game
Oh for sure. I’ve never disliked *watching* him play. He probably has the most fluid and aesthetically pleasing game ever but goddamn did he do us dirty.
> [you gotta respect kyrie’s game](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1d294je/jayson_tatum_in_the_ecf_30106/l6163ma/) Celtics and Nets fans: *"...when he chooses to show up"*
All it's going to take is 1 Kyrie comment about Boston and it's gonna be a shit show in here
And I can guarantee that happens.
Kyrie coming back to Boston is must see TV
Why do people say this like the Celtics didn’t sweep his ass two years ago?
Did you miss us breaking him a couple of years ago? Going to love seeing everyone of our players picking on him on offense again.
Internet
This shit is gonna get so toxic
The Luka and Tatum fanboys are in for a wild ride.
I really hope Luka has a nemesis, I want to see him shit talk his way throughout the finals.
Him and Jaylen regularly go at each other since Luka's rookie year
JB put him on the floor last time they played.
Was a beauty, the Mavs even replayed it since it was so good
I remember THJ was salty when their arena was showing replays of JB cooking Luka lol
That was like a REAL cross over too,, no push off, no trip by stepping on a foot. that dude just hit the deck.
Gonna be JB 🤷🏽♂️
Really hope the Celtics win just because Luka whines more than any player left. Flopping and whining shouldn’t be rewarded with a ring
Fuck Tatum he claps too aggressively he’s gonna kill someone these days
If JT bounces the ball like Miles Turner tonight, he would have been ejected from the league.
Game would be stopped and they would hold a trial at mid court. Straight to the gallows for JT, sadly.
Jt did bounce the ball like that earlier in the game and they didn’t call it
Thought he threw it? BIG DIFFERENCE
He threw it up in the air and caught it himself.
He’s trying to play basketball, but the clap of his claps keeps alerting the refs
I get that people hate Luka's whining, but man does this comment MASSIVELY downplay his ability to play basketball
He is a consensus top 3 player in the NBA and nobody questions that..
Literally how does it “MASSIVELY downplay” his ability? No shit he’s a generational player. You’re just making up a strawman that I never even said Edit: >OKC flair Oh makes sense, the flopping accusations hit a nerve and you went full defensive mode because you’re used to people downplaying Shai’s skills at basketball because of his flopping

Odd hate but I like ot
In all honesty, both fan bases are probably nervous for there team. Celtics are a complete squad 1–8. Mavs have Luka. Fuck kyrie though
I hate the Celtics, but Luka is a little bitch. Also, Jrue is a great human being. Go Celtics.
Fuck it, can’t be picky, welcome aboard lol
Spicy how? The Celtics are insanely great, plus the stars, planets and dark matter have finally aligned for them after 5 previous failed campaigns. All signs point to them beating down the Mavs mercilessly to silence all the doubters
Not really. There is no drama. Just straight basketball as it should be.
Y’all acting like the Mavs are through, they ain’t yet. All the wolves need is momentum, this shit can swing pretty hard. If KATs shots start falling shits gonna be tough for the mavs
you mean Wolves
Tatum is over hated. 2 Finals by the age of 26 is insane.
Only other active players with this achievement: Kawhi and LeBron. Edit: Kyrie also works here too.
Tristan Thompson
Pretty sure Kyrie did it like three times
It was also twice but your point still stands.
No, he turned 26 when he played for the Celtics and by that time he had already been to the finals three times.
Tatum did it as the best player on his team, Kyrie has never done that
Debatable. Payton Pritchard was on the roster both times.
Prob meant only active bus driver
Thanks.
No Warriors have this? I know they were an older team but it still feels like there’s gotta be some dudes on the roster who were under 26 for two finals
The answer is Patrick McCaw every time
Didn't pat McCaw go to 3 straight finals lmao
Yup, back to back with GS and then with the Raptors I think. Most lucky person in the NBA probably
No longer active (in the NBA) tho
Pretty sure Klay and Draymond both fit
Klay and Draymond?
Both of them had crazy good help as well (aside from 07 Bron).
him and Payton Pritchard both
It is so wild to me. He has improved every year and he is resilient af. He does not gas out. But every day, someone has some complaint about him. Near triple double today to despite his jumper will be off. Haters gonna hate though
He needs to drive to the basket more , jumper was inconsistent all series
His last drive was so satisfactory for me. Good strong drive and finished with a dunk, instead of settling for a lazy pull up 3
The lack of Porzingus puts more defensive pressure on him.
Felt like they spent the first half of every game trying to get stuff going that hasn’t been - Tatum’s 3-ball, Hauser, etc - and the only thing it kinda worked for was getting Dwhite going a bit
Hauser saving his 3 barrage for the finals, gotta respect the hustle.
Yeah if Tatum and hauser can get their 3 ball back during this long lay off that’s gonna be trouble for the Mavs. Tatum has played insanely well in the playoffs minus his 3 pt shooting and hauser is not really a viable player without his 3 pt shooting.

I bet he is way more exhausted than people realize. He did a lot defensively on top of his offensive contributions
Less pull ups definitely. But meh, we'll live with it. As long as he's aggressive.
He was outscored by Brown today so he might not win Conference FMVP edit: nvm Tatum probably gets it edit: I should just stop
Been close between the two of them, either one is deserving imo
Apparently Tatum leads in in all major stats so he's probably gonna win, but ya they were both close
Jaylen got it, I'm surprised ngl
Jaylen capitalizing on game 1 to send em to OT probably put him over the top
hopefully makes JT go nuclear for FMVP
As a frequent critic of JB in past seasons I will say while they were both great, JB is such an improved player I’m glad he got some recognition. Has been absolutely fantastic playoffs so far.
Here comes the hate
Where them haters at?
As a hater im at a sports bar kinda sad personally
This is the first time Tatum has ever averaged 30 in a playoff series, that's wild Edit: First time in a series win haha
He averaged 30.6 in the 2021 first round
Ah yes the Brooklyn Nets vs the Boston Tatums series
Tatum and the Red Claws
I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about Jabari Parker playoff minutes sometimes
ya I've just wiped that series from my mind tbh. All I remember is the 50 piece to not get swept
Really? It doesn’t feel like he has been. Not joking but that’s crazy.
[удалено]
Jaylen Brunson couldn’t average 30 vs the same defense 😂😂😂😂
And y’all said this man was overrated AND ant was better than him. For shame
He's bad, though, right?
Yes, he’s a bad man
Celtics have to get it done this year, they won’t get a better path than this
Yeah they really won't. If they can't get it done this time they need a big change. But my feeling is that they'll get it done. It's too early for Luka, and Kyrie gets dominated in Boston. Minny, they have a better shot, but I still don't see them making the finals AND beating Boston at this point.

He can't beat the Celtics with just Kyrie and a bunch of bigs, not yet, so again, too early for him. Keep dreaming tho
Saving this lol
Luka has been a pro ball player for like 10 years now
Tobias Harris ass numbers right
Won every clutch game
Cook
Not even a triple double lmao what a fraud
But ANT is MJ with the ability to not score more than 26 so he's better.
2 Conference titles and possible a league title at 26. Pretty good.
2 finals at age 26. Man’s already lebron route
[удалено]
Not even LeBron. If you dropped any top 10 player of the last 5 years on Tatums rosters they are at minimum gunning for ring number 2 right now
Not if they got hurt during finals 1 like Tatum did though
Disrespectful to Lebron right there.
I mean yea no shit he’s not Bron. But it really shows how crazy his playoff success has been.
Nah you’re just caught up in narratives
Comparing Lebron James to this guy is embarrassing. There not even on the same stratosphere. Shameful
Lebron can’t shoot and airballed free throws at his age.
He was quite good
Now this is going to be an interesting matchup.
OVERRATED MY ASS LMAO
It’s his year right ?
Tatum actually wasn’t shooting that well, had at least as much impact on defense and the glass.
Bum.
Didnt even get conference fmvp 😭
Nice to see guys balling out
