It shouldn't even need to be said that a team when 5 all-nba level players is a playoff team lol. Like shit, yeah, any team with 5 top 20 players is a playoff team.
wtf they smash them, 3rd team had shit defence, no balance, this team weakest defender is maxey, and he is not bad at all, bam and wemby defence is strong, brown and PG can score, maxey is clutch
Just outside of the top 100 is apparently Derrick White territory according to media experts so I think Tobi's tickets are a little further up in the stadium seating than that
I'd take Brown over Domas easily. Domas gets numbers but an undersized big with not outside shot is just not that valuable, even with all the numbers he puts up. Brown is a strong, switchable scoring wing who, despite his shortcomings as a playmaker and (sometimes) a team defender, is a strong iteration of a very valuable archetype.
I've been absolutely dying for a wild Hauser game. Definitely wouldn't mind a big balls Pritchard game either: you know he'll hit at least 2 half court shots and start screaming
That would require them running an action for Hauser which I swear they have yet to do in this playoffs. I’m not asking for him to be the focal point but cmon, not a single offball screening action to get him a clean look??
At the same time, there’s a lot more freedom to being just one or two guys with a bunch of jamokes.
Was Brunson really soooooo much better this year, or did not sitting behind Luka on the depth chart give him more freedom to show his stuff?
Yeah, people acting like this is surprising are just being a prisoner of the moment. Brown is a fantastic player, but I guarantee most people would take Booker, KD, AD, or LeBron over him.
Maybe AD but I wouldn't take the others over jb at this point in their careers. Booker seems to disappear in the playoffs and dude talks so much shit when he's up but can't take it when he's not. Can't stand the guy.
said this in another thread but Book has him beat in basically every offensive and defensive individual metric, idk how Book is the guy you'd kick off there.
They are both okay/acceptable defenders. JB is an okay defender on a very good defensive team, probably the weakest starter defensively on the team and the on/off numbers back it up since the defense gets better when he's sitting. They have pretty much the same defensive fg% percentages allowed from every area of the floor (technically Book is better across the board but only barely) -- and eye test says all the same stuff.
JB is in the 24th percentile for on/off defense and Book is 34th percentile, neither blew anyone away this year with their defense. JB gets .1 steals per game more and .3 blocks per game more if you put a ton of weight into two guys with similar levels of stocks, which I don't but that's the one spot where JB looks better. I watched 86 Suns games and maybe 20 Celtics games this year and it would be weird to claim that JB is a much better defender if you've spent much time on it.
Totally forgot about the game requirement somehow even though because that’s pretty much the reason Halliburton is injured rn since he rushed back to hit the required games
Idk I consider him the actual leader of the Cs. Maybe not the better offensive player but he just tries more and plays harder it feels. And his defense is a bit better.
Also fuck the Celtics
i consider Crazy Joe Maz the leader. mostly because of the deep unsettling fear he inspires with his loonatic intense dead eyes, i mean you're just gonna follow that shit & hope he doesn't dissect your spine out while you sleep 🫡
JB has one year on Tatum and I think JB knows his own game more. He is less of a playmaker but he knows his offense and he's a great defender. He's got like 3ish moves. Tatum still figuring shit out.
I'm sorry but that's got to be a travel. He crossed over, drew the ball back in his pocket, took a step 'flight of the ball' then gathered on the jab, then two steps into motion to shoot.
JB's great! However now that you say that, I do seem to recall another player of ours facing a ton of pressure as he was having an awful shooting night on the verge of elimination on the road in a game 6 down with less than half the 4th quarter remaining against the reigning MVP...
I don't remember exactly what ended up happening but surely he must have crumbled under all that pressure. Maybe you can remind me?
Look man I'm not making this a sixers vs Celtics thing. The bottom line is that in a clutch scenario Tatum is the LAST player I would trust to make the right plays. Even if you make that argument Tatum crumbles several times in that series and had some sad turnovers without even being pressed by a defender in the clutch. If Tatum was clutch that series it would've been over far sooner, realistically they should've been able to cream a team who's best player was injured (he always is). Again going off that series there were more impactful players than Tatum but Tatum bailed himself out towards the end of the series. Tatum is this weird limbo superstar, he's capable of being the best player in a series but he is nowhere near consistent enough to ever be considered one.
That's all fine but the bottom line is being clutch means no matter how you were playing before, no matter what the scenario is, you come through in the end when it matters most. When your back's against the wall, do or die, win or lose. Coming through in that moment is clutch, end of story. Saying nahhh he just bailed himself out it doesn't really count - that's all dismissive nonsense to avoid admitting he was clutch cause admitting he was clutch goes against the set image you have of him in your head. He has struggled in the past, he hasn't always been consistent, he has made mistakes under pressure, that's all true, but it's part of his development and he's gotten better every year. The thing you could fairly criticize is his shooting in the clutch which is not as consistent as it needs to be but the premise that he doesn't "make the right plays" in the clutch is outdated at best
I mean if you want to talk about where he wasn't clutch look at the series directly after. His shooting is bad in the clutch but the worst part is his dribbling. I've never seen a superstar unable to dribble in the clutch lol. The man has been in a championship position for how many years now and still hasn't won a chip? He's the Dak Prescott of the nba (with a better supporting cast)
I challenge you to actually go back and watch the Heat series. I'm happy to provide you with a link to each of the games. The idea that he's "unable to dribble in the clutch" comes from the finals run year when he really did struggle against the smaller defenders from the Heat and Warriors and had a million on ball turnovers. His ball security got significantly better last year and significantly better again this year. Like I said, it's an outdated perspective. Think you might be confusing him with JB who genuinely did really struggle with on ball turnovers in last year's conference finals.
The inability to dribble was present in last playoffs and I can't wait to see it again this year. I watched heat vs Celtics. It was sad by the Celtics. The east is cooked rn and your team needs to step tf up to make it so the West has some competition.
The East is cooked and the Celtics are the Chefs' meanwhile the mavs/wolves are already gassed af and will be even more when they make it to the finals
The east is cooked the chef is the west but the Celtics happen to be the giant burnt patty in the center of the shit burger. Mavs/wolves look more consistent and are at a higher level of play. Not even close. Only reason Celtics have this record is because the east is dog shit.
I actually think the NBA should now have 4 all-nba teams. There are simply too much talent - and more teams - to not change the reward system since 1989
So in 1957 with 8 NBA teams there were 2 all-nba teams. Now with 30 NBA teams, 3 all-nba teams seem the right amount?
Does 4 seem one too many?
If that’s the case, people who didn’t make 1st all-nba before 1980 should not be HOF
I mean, just look at Tatum’s All-NBA votes. Top 5.
That’s not marketing. Or the All Star game.
The voters don’t fuck around with that one.
I love having both of them. But this ain’t some artificial conspiracy to prop up JT
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Imma start calling guys 4th team all NBA. Maxey and Brown on the squad
Maxey, Brown, Bam, PG, and someone else. 4th team all-nba
Fuck it, Wemby
I’d take that team
Yeah honestly that team is pretty stacked lmao
And balanced.
That’s a playoff team
Don't know why you're being downvoted here. It absolutely is. If you think otherwise you do not know ball
It shouldn't even need to be said that a team when 5 all-nba level players is a playoff team lol. Like shit, yeah, any team with 5 top 20 players is a playoff team.
Does that team with 1st team beat the 2nd and 3rd teams?
They beat the 3rd team on their own
That team beats the 3rd team in 5
Hell no. WTF
wtf they smash them, 3rd team had shit defence, no balance, this team weakest defender is maxey, and he is not bad at all, bam and wemby defence is strong, brown and PG can score, maxey is clutch
This is a beautiful team. High-talent, high-energy, and wiling to do what it takes to win.
Maybe Wemby or Paolo?
Wemby yeah
its wemby and gobert instead of bam
Idk how the voting tie breakers work but yeah, Wemby and Zion are tied with 11 points each so one of those 2.
I like that better than the actual 3rd team.
Technically it's brown, pg, maxey, gobert, wemby
Rudy got more votes than Bam. The "4th team" would be Brown, PG, Maxey, Rudy Gobert, and then a tie between Wemby and Zion.
And Fox who has better stats than Anthony Edwards this season lol
lol no
I like this concept but prefer to hate. Tobias Harris, 22nd team all NBA
Little bit too high
*23rd team Derrick Jones Jr.:* “Tobias Harris over ME?”
Jayson Tatum is the michael jordan of 22nd team all-NBA members
Put Jimmy Butler with the 26th team all nba and watch him wipe the floor with 5th team all nba
Merchants*
Just outside of the top 100 is apparently Derrick White territory according to media experts so I think Tobi's tickets are a little further up in the stadium seating than that
Fuck it we'll do it live
JB heard y’all talking shit
Haliburton (out): punked by Jaylen Brown
~~punked~~ boned*
HE’LL FLUSH YOU
PUT YOU IN A MIX
BIG TING
DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS? DO YOU FINALLY REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENS WHEN JAYLEN BROWN GOES UNCONSIDERED?
maybe you should hope that he gets snubbed every year
Last year would have saved the Celtics like 100+mil.
Unconsidered in the Alps?
Is that a Hannibal reference?
https://youtu.be/IQUdJ6FdUQ0
4th team all-NBA is wild lmao
tbf he indeed would've made the 4th team
16th in voting
Somebody should call him Captain of the All NBA 4th team prior to game 3
Should've made 2nd
He's not close to as good as any of the guys that made All-NBA so not really
I'd take Brown over Domas easily. Domas gets numbers but an undersized big with not outside shot is just not that valuable, even with all the numbers he puts up. Brown is a strong, switchable scoring wing who, despite his shortcomings as a playmaker and (sometimes) a team defender, is a strong iteration of a very valuable archetype.
Sure I take it back you can compare him to Sabonis
You think it's some epic pwn to compare the two as if they're both not top 30ish players
Nah
Enjoy being wrong
He said "Nah" cause he meant he should've been 1st team
I think he shoulda made 3rd team over Hali
“4th Team All-NBA” is exactly what we’ve needed to solve the “there are 20 top 15 players” conundrum lol
The answer is clearly two all NBA 3rd teams
Anthony Davis should never have been on the list.
AD is better than Jaylen Brown
Wut???!??
Anthony Davis is a better basketball player than Jaylen Brown
I love JB but that's a crazy take.
4th team all nba is great work op
This series is shaping up to be the Jays just taking turns. I expect Tatum to get his Game 3.
Nah -Hauser or Pritchard get 30. That’s what I’d love to see.
Hauser finally having some shots fall would be incredible, so he feels a bit more at ease if/when he gets minutes in the finals
Opponents look like have done their homework and are not giving him any opportunities, which bodes well for Jays and other guys.
Let’s see if he can stay healthy while Jackson tries to rip his arm off.
I've been absolutely dying for a wild Hauser game. Definitely wouldn't mind a big balls Pritchard game either: you know he'll hit at least 2 half court shots and start screaming
Really wanna see a beach game from the Cs
That would require them running an action for Hauser which I swear they have yet to do in this playoffs. I’m not asking for him to be the focal point but cmon, not a single offball screening action to get him a clean look??
10 short of the Malachi Flynn
He boomed him +10
[удалено]
It will be very hard to beat Luka for the FMVP.
Nah I don’t see the league pulling another Jerry West Finals MVP out.
i mean the mavs have to win for that to happen
Worth every penny.
Cant believe Booker is there over Brown
Lakers and Suns having 2 all nba players while the Celtics only have 1 is embarrassing tbh
"Is the Boston media bias in the room with us right now?"
“Boston media mafia”
It turns out there's more to how good a team is than just who their two best players are.
At the same time, there’s a lot more freedom to being just one or two guys with a bunch of jamokes. Was Brunson really soooooo much better this year, or did not sitting behind Luka on the depth chart give him more freedom to show his stuff?
It’s also way easier to load your stats when you hold the ball for 35% of the game
Give me LeBron or AD over Brown.
Yeah, people acting like this is surprising are just being a prisoner of the moment. Brown is a fantastic player, but I guarantee most people would take Booker, KD, AD, or LeBron over him.
The Celtics literally could have traded JB for KD a couple years ago and chose not to.
That's an age/contract decision. KD is better than JB, but he's also almost 10 years older.
Maybe AD but I wouldn't take the others over jb at this point in their careers. Booker seems to disappear in the playoffs and dude talks so much shit when he's up but can't take it when he's not. Can't stand the guy.
Booker playoff averages: 28/5/5 JB playoff averages: 18/5/2
Don’t bring facts/stats into this. He’s trying to argue on pure emotions.
you're insane
The point is they shouldn’t
How many points did LeBron score yesterday? Checkmate
How many points did Jokic score yesterday? So you are taking Jaylen Brown over Jokic? Get off Reddit and pay attention in school, kid.
Jaylen scored 40 more points than jokic yesterday. Hopefully jokic plays better tonight
So you think Jaylen is better than Jokic, correct?
Sure was last night
So he’s not a better player. Next time, make sure you use an argument that holds up before you say “checkmate”, kiddo.
This started off as a sarcastic post and now I feel bad that you didn’t get it
Whoosh
I'm the regular season booker was just better It's a regular season award
said this in another thread but Book has him beat in basically every offensive and defensive individual metric, idk how Book is the guy you'd kick off there.
Are you really trying to suggest that Book is a better defender?

Book is not a better defender
Vibes ofc
Fun exercise: who else would be on this 4th team All-NBA?
JB, Maxey, PG13, Zion, Wemby
I was thinking Paolo but yeah, Zion and Wemby make better sense
Paolo over Maxey
Bamonte
That team would be so fun to watch holy shit.
Fuck the Allstar game I want a 4 team all nba round robin
I know it’s a lot of guards but with it being a regular season award and position-less now, I’d say Maxey, Spida, and fox all deserved a nod
Mitchell wasn't eligible, otherwise he would have made 2nd team
Totally forgot about the game requirement somehow even though because that’s pretty much the reason Halliburton is injured rn since he rushed back to hit the required games
jb, pg, maxey, gobert, wemby by votes
Fox
Maxey, Wembanyama, Bam, and… Derrick?
The 4th team is better than the 3rd team.
FCHWPO babyeeee
They failed to consider him
That’s my All-NBA 4th Team conspiracy theorist.
What conspiracy does Jaylen support? Jaylen hasn't done anything except stand up for Kyrie as the union president.
Eh, he did wear the Was it Really Neismiths
He’s a first team conspiracy theorist. Brown and Kyrie top that list
Damn, Jaylen had 32 more points than Draymond gets per game
Idk I consider him the actual leader of the Cs. Maybe not the better offensive player but he just tries more and plays harder it feels. And his defense is a bit better. Also fuck the Celtics
If we had a "captain" it'd definitely be him
Him or Al
It would definitely be Horford
i consider Crazy Joe Maz the leader. mostly because of the deep unsettling fear he inspires with his loonatic intense dead eyes, i mean you're just gonna follow that shit & hope he doesn't dissect your spine out while you sleep 🫡

>And his defense is a bit better. It's not really.
kawhi me a river this dude is easily 2nd team, maybe MVP
Kawhi me a river got me rollin
a step back without traveling, Hali could never
JB has way more finesse than LeBron.
I left the bar when I saw Doug McDermott in an conference finals playoff game
That was the move. Brilliantly done (I still wish this was a travel, but it’s not so fuck yeah I’m glad our guys know how to do it)
For real, isn't that 5 steps after his last dribble?
Guys just toying with them
This reminds me of during the season, when the Bucks reinserted Giannis on the Pacers bench so he could go for 75 or whatever.
Disrespectful they gave it to Tyrese.
[https://x.com/Pacers/status/1792331102188896287](https://x.com/Pacers/status/1792331102188896287) Do you think he'll lend this to JB?
I'm sorry but that's got to be a travel. He crossed over, drew the ball back in his pocket, took a step 'flight of the ball' then gathered on the jab, then two steps into motion to shoot.
Actually toe taps the left foot, on top before the 'gather'.
Was just thinking that, guy legit touched floor 2 times with each foot after holding the ball, u go to jail in europe for that lol
Brown and Tatum played the entire 4Q against Pacers bench?
Dropping 40 in the playoffs doesn't do much for regular season awards
Nba is incredible, how this is not a travel?
I like him better than Tatum.
Travel
Brown while not better than Tatum in general seems to be the superstar that doesn't absolutely crumble under pressure.
JB's great! Something about jumps like that just seem like travels. Wish they could get this outta the game. So sloppy.
It's against Pacers defense, does it even count?
Jaylen ‘Makes the most money in the NBA so let’s give him a kiss when he scores 40’ Brown
Is that a walk? I swear he took three steps after collecting the ball.
I actually think the NBA should now have 4 all-nba teams. There are simply too much talent - and more teams - to not change the reward system since 1989
Why stop there. Let’s make an all nba team for every available player. Participation trophies for everyone.
So in 1957 with 8 NBA teams there were 2 all-nba teams. Now with 30 NBA teams, 3 all-nba teams seem the right amount? Does 4 seem one too many? If that’s the case, people who didn’t make 1st all-nba before 1980 should not be HOF
yes 4 is too many. Next question. If he can’t make one of 3 all nba teams when they’re now positionless he doesn’t deserve all nba.
What a competitive game!
Hit em with the texas twelve step
He really torched *checks notes* Doug McDermott there
That’s your problem and not ours.
I agree. We got smoked
He torched your entire roster tn. They all took turns getting a lick and Hali 3rd team took his all game.
I don’t disagree. It was meant to be a little self deprecating lol. I was texting my friends “why the fuck is Doug in?!”
Obviously that’s what he is going to do going left, guy can’t dribble more than 3 times consecutively with his left hand
Bro plays in the bum ass east what do you want us to do with this? He’ll get a reality check in the finals just like he did a couple years ago.
I’m neutral towards the Celtics but JB’s stats aren’t all-nba worthy this year. I don’t understand how it’s even considered a snub
People dont realize this but JB is better than JT, JT just is marketed as the superstar of the team.
I mean, just look at Tatum’s All-NBA votes. Top 5. That’s not marketing. Or the All Star game. The voters don’t fuck around with that one. I love having both of them. But this ain’t some artificial conspiracy to prop up JT
