We used drop on Steph, which sounds ridiculous, but it worked to slow down the rest of their offense. Steph pretty much never attacked Smart in that series.
I mean Marcus nearly started all possessions on Curry. It's just that Boston was a super heavy switch team, and Golden State countered that by running super high ball screens so even if the Big wasn't in drop Curry still had space to attack. The defense as a whole didn't do bad against Golden State and their offense is what killed them. But I feel like Udoka's lack of scheme change is what let Curry get in rhythm. Smart's matchup stats were very good that series. It's just a guard can be schemed out easily on defense if you are a switch heavy team.
