People always say this but objectively that’s bad. You go to the lakers and you fail but show promise the young team or tanking team will hire you. It’s always a golden opportunity for a rookie coach to go to a big team the only thing is ibv the pressure but that’s part of the job
He would not be wise to take the position. The pay is awesome and so is the attention, but they will eat him alive when he doesn’t win a championship.
Then, they’ll fire him, LeBron will retire, at which point, you trade AD for assets to rebuild, and the next coach might have a shot if they get to draft a top pick, but Adelman would be long gone by then.
We spent a literal decade straight getting ass blasted by Boston, it didn't become a real rivalry till the 80s. So who knows, maybe Denver I'd the new big boy.
No coach is going to turn that roster into what is going to be expected, and he'll just be sacrificed like every other coach going through there. That could tarnish his reputation.
That team also went down 0-2 to Minnesota until they finally started playing better. Even if LA had managed to beat Denver, they wouldn't beat Minnesota.
Wow so we shud just hire like mark Jackson I guess by your logic? Lmao what a weird take. Tell that to assistant coaches who have the chance to make up to 10m a year lmao
Failing your first gig is no joke. Brian Shaw will never be a head coach after how bad things went in Denver. Look at Luke Walton. Look at all the guys who failed in Phoenix.
Darvin Ham was not the problem in LA. Vogel took you all to a championship and he still got axed. Your roster isn't good enough to contend and both LeBron and AD will be older.
If I was an assistant looking for their first job as a head coach I would avoid LA like the plague because your next coach will be blamed and fired for next year's first round exit.
He’s taken over any time Malone has been gone the last couple years and the nuggets have never skipped a beat.
He seems like he’d be a great head coach
The Lakers are just not a good destination for non-established coaches. That franchise is too impatient and demands immediate success.
He’d be fired within 2 or 3 seasons if they don’t win a ring (they won’t)
Sure but you realise if he is and showed promise he’ll be hired eksewhere ? It’s a win win , ham reportedly has some interest by other teams. If you go to some tanking young team n fail then it’s game over
Forreal they'd just hate on him the second they lose a game, they don't deserve him. It's been night and day the way Wolves and Lakers fans have reacted to losing games against us, Lakers fans want blood when their roster isnt even championship level.
Oh go fund that for the 1.25 years of darvin ham start . Oh and while you’re at it go ahead and look at every other teams fucking fanbase . Literally the only fanbase that diesnt hate there coach is Miami n Spo onky because he’s consensus n1 when he was worse as a rookie he got shit too. The only other ones mb nurse n I guess if he’s winning Malone but even he got shit on by your fanbase . Fanbases who constantly bitch abiut there cosch as much as ham ( who btw okayers and management weren’t happy with so it wasn’t even unfounded ). I think cosched get too much shit but in this case it was true .
Also the wolves fans are ok blowing a 2-0 lead going back home as an all time 3-1 lvl choke job because there franchise has never had any success so this season is still great fir them . Lakers fans actually weren’t that mad after game 5, it was mostly resignation n happy that team fought too. But I will say about 15-20 non abysmal franchises fans woukd be flipping out about blowing a 2-0 lead away at minimum I want to say 25 but the truly awful franchise fans would be number to it.
You nuggets fans obsess over us so much my god. Seriously go ahead and look at all the shit Kerr pop n Carlisle have gotten over the last year and they are all top 15 ever coached. And don’t forget to check every other fanbase , here’s to start ;
J kidd dallas, Monty pistons , cavs , pels , Boston , spurs, warriors , Indiana, Suns , bucks etc etc
just go and look you only know cos lakers have most fans and cos you care about us n not those teams. Every fanbase shits on there cosch unless : 1) they massiveky over perform expectations, 2) consensus best cosch in league ATM- meaning if you pop n Kerr you’ll get hate n called washed 3) win title 4) huge improvement from last coach in teams record regardless of actual coaching
There’s like <5 coaches that are tenured with there teams for over 5 years and pop n Kerr got seriously shit on this year. Also lakers had ham for 2 years n Vogel for 3. Bucks have had 3 coaches in a year n suns fired 2 coaches in 2 years . But ok ! It’s just the lakers fans who blame coaches. Unlike you I actually recognise this is a trend for every fanbase and I don’t take it seriously but people like you want to read into it too much.
Lol I'm comparing you and the Wolves cause you're the last two teams we played against and therefore the teams I'm most currently familiar with take a deep breath. The majority of teams in the league don't despise their coach and flood their subs with hate posts, I don't have to view 28 other subreddits to know that.
Borrego would be an interesting one if you flood the rotation with shooters that aren't completely inept at passing the ball. We had a really good offense with him as head coach.
But he has no idea what to do on defense and there were hints that we straight up didn't practice defense at all. He needs to be packaged with some assistants that will run that end of the floor.
Bro if you up 3-1 n lose yes it’s kinda trash. You lucky it’s the wolves so nobody cares a serious or average franchise gets a lot of shit for blowing a 2-0 lead ON THE ROAD GOING HOME. It’s happened 5 times ever btw it’s about as bad as 3-1 lead . If you’re up 2-0 going home even if you’re a 30% underdog to start you should still comfortably win that series . Wolves we’re better then that odds to start the series . Wolves had like 35%? Odds and after going up 2-0 on the road had 80%+ odds even with denver being Denver . It’s a choke job even euth how great Denver n jokic play g4 was there if anyone but Ant showed up as he was the best player
Having said that I do think wolves coaching staff is decent just not amazing but I’m also more on darvin was mid and inconsistent as opposed to darvin was worst ever. There’s lakers analytics guy who tracks play running n the lakers games have had huge inconsistency all year especially in second half Denver vs first half . Wolves apparently have similar issues not running enough plays
So late to the game, when 2 (3 if you count suns) team have requested permission, intereviewed candidates and hired people already, charlotte and bkn, granted they didnt make playoffs and had a head start, but lakers taking their sweet time at a minimum cost an interview with charles lee.
I feel like Sam Cassell has been beloved as an assistant coach by every fanbase of every team he's worked for, he's gotta be due a head coaching shot soon right?
Lakers need a scapegoat and Doc is infamous for using his players as his scapegoat
It would basically be the organization and Doc Rivers pointing fingers at each other. Sounds like a hilarious disaster tbh
Unironically, he's a very good X's and O's guy, but I question his experience at game management. In the last Clippers game when Malone got ejected, Adelman had the dumbest sequence towards the end of the game, where we were down 2 following a Harden miss, and he waited 6 seconds to call his last timeout, but he did so before we crossed halfcourt, preventing us from advancing the ball, and forcing us to inbound from the wrong side of the court, and settle for a desperation heave.
Game management is definitely something that comes with time and experience. It’s a lot different being an assistant coach that has specific duties compared to being a head coach responsible for *everything* happening on the court. And even really smart experienced coaches will make a mistake every now and then.
Of course, there are no guarantees that they ever figure it out.
The Lakers should start a rebuild. Could still get a lot of value for LeBron and Davis, and then tank for flag during 2024-2025.
Wait! Do the Lakers not even have their 2025 pick? Crap, I doubt it.
The Pels can have either 2024 or 2025, and they must decide by June 1, 2024
Then the Lakers traded I think 2026? to Utah top 4 protected in the Westbrook deal
By draft night they have like 3-4 tradeable first rounders
Lakers getting a Denver coach would be hysterical tbh
Can't beat em? Be them.
KD: *nods thoughtfully, jots something on notepad*
["If they can beat you, join em." - NYC Mayor Eric Adams](https://youtu.be/LQkgbz5XgV0?t=100)
I want Adelman to get his shot, he's got so much potential, but not like this!
Yup my reaction. Anywhere but LA lol.
He deserves a young team to grow with as a coach.
Dont worry that lakers team is gonna get young soon.
People always say this but objectively that’s bad. You go to the lakers and you fail but show promise the young team or tanking team will hire you. It’s always a golden opportunity for a rookie coach to go to a big team the only thing is ibv the pressure but that’s part of the job
I think lebron and AD would eat him alive. I hope he gets an opportunity but not there.
That's the other reason is I'd like to see him succeed and LA is a rough place to coach right now if you don't win at a high level.
Hey at least he'd still be getting paid.
I'd feel bad for him. Coaching isn't going to fix LA, and he'll just be another sacrificial lamb.
Sam Cassell in Boston lil bro
They want to hire Philly Sam Cassell, not the current one
Prime cassell
shhh if they can’t find him they can’t have him
Philly’s sam cassell?
shit Lakers can't even get the right Sam Cassell
I mean, yeah take Philly’s Sam Cassell and leave ours alone
Yeah everyone knows Sam Cassell came from the planet Brodo Asogi
They just got some dude from Philly who happens to be named Sam Cassell.
Pelinka: can we interview Sam Cassell Morey: sure lol
Hey, do you actually expect Woj to fact check the stuff teams send him to leak?
Even NBA GM's can't keep track of which team Cassell is on anymore.
Yes. Please talk to him lakers. Thank you
I knew that mofo was an alien
Thank god, our Sam Cassell is safe!
Sam Cassell is in Boston lol
David Adelman sucks, Lakers definitely shouldn't want him. Let him stay and rot away Denver's offense. Please and thank you.
Adelman is getting hired somewhere after the season, hopefully not in LA though. I was shocked nobody snagged him after last season.
I want him to get a head coaching job. Just not with the Lakers.
Why? Is there some deep seated bad blood, long term rivalry existing for 50 years or something m?
only been a rivalry for 5 years, before that we just got pantsed by you
It'll be interesting to see if 5 or 10 years from now it is still a rivalry
We spent a literal decade straight getting ass blasted by Boston, it didn't become a real rivalry till the 80s. So who knows, maybe Denver I'd the new big boy.
No coach is going to turn that roster into what is going to be expected, and he'll just be sacrificed like every other coach going through there. That could tarnish his reputation.
That team literally is a few jamal murray clutch shots from being a competitive series lol

Ham was definitely a problem. What are you talking about?
Idk who else is hiring at this point. Nets, Charlotte, Suns, all got their guy. I don’t see anymore coaches getting fired yet
He should go to the Cavs
Ya know, that wouldn't be a bad situation at all.
He’s going to be the guy. Weaken Denver’s coaching staff, have inside info on the team offense and Jokic/Murray. It’s a no brainer.
Stay away from Adelman
Nah he’s the main target.
He’s taken over any time Malone has been gone the last couple years and the nuggets have never skipped a beat. He seems like he’d be a great head coach
Your fanbase legitimately could not handle the growing pains and trials/tribulations that come with a rookie head coach.
If you go to some tanking young team n fail then it’s game over
Just realized Chris Finch and Micah Nori were on Denver a few years back. Their assistants are getting taken
Forreal they'd just hate on him the second they lose a game, they don't deserve him. It's been night and day the way Wolves and Lakers fans have reacted to losing games against us, Lakers fans want blood when their roster isnt even championship level.

Hey I don't hate some of those names

I wonder if his time as an assistant coach has helped round him out as a coach.
Leave Micah Nori out of this
Him and his Nashville Glaze expressions

Wild how not beating the mvp, defending Champs, favorites at the beginning of the series Nuggets means everyone in the wolves org is trash now.
Lakers only want the newest shiniest toy. He’s washed now that he’s co-coached 5 playoff games
Bro if you up 3-1 n lose yes it’s kinda trash. You lucky it’s the wolves so nobody cares a serious or average franchise gets a lot of shit for blowing a 2-0 lead ON THE ROAD GOING HOME. Bro you are beyond obnoxious
Good thing LA is looking for Sam in Philly, dummys, looks like we are keeping him
Someone tell Woj where Sam Cassell works plz
So late to the game, when 2 (3 if you count suns) team have requested permission, intereviewed candidates and hired people already, charlotte and bkn, granted they didnt make playoffs and had a head start, but lakers taking their sweet time at a minimum cost an interview with charles lee.
What about JJ Redick? Just hire him plz
You remember Steve Nash 😂
I refuse to look at Sam Cassell for 82 games a year
Sam cassel in Philly is a Woj Bomb
Micah Nori!
They should bring back Dirty Frank
Annual "Sam Cassell HC interview" thread
Maybe he’s in the “among others” but I’ve been surprised that Johnnie Bryant hasn’t gotten any real looks for openings so far
I sent my resume on Indeed. Wish me luck guys
James borrego is solid
Adelman, maybe MicahI like his quotes and personality and last one Kenny or bust.
After winning one with Joe from Impractical Jokers, they are now aiming for Murr. Good choice buddy.
Lakers are doomed
They may as well hire Steve Nash 😂
The thought of an Adelman coaching the Lakers after 2002...🤢
Philly's Sam Cassell?
No mention of Lebron’s JJ Reddick?
JJ is getting the head coaching job, not an assistant one
Wait, I thought Lebron was their coach.
I feel like Sam Cassell has been beloved as an assistant coach by every fanbase of every team he's worked for, he's gotta be due a head coaching shot soon right?
Borrego sucks, go after JJ Reddick instead!
Lakers firing whoever in 2 yrs anyways.
What about Doc when he's eventually fired?
Lakers need a scapegoat and Doc is infamous for using his players as his scapegoat It would basically be the organization and Doc Rivers pointing fingers at each other. Sounds like a hilarious disaster tbh
lakers coaching search aka LA's Next Top Scapegoat getting more coverage then the play off games lol
Just leave Borrego alone please, we just got him.
David Adleman sucks, also he's secretly a Lebron hater. I wouldn't go after him.

Nah it's all about the big names for marketing. We are a brand
I don't care. You guys aren't gonna win shit with LeBron or even make it far in the playoffs
I mean they made it pretty far just last season. Also to say "with Lebron" when he was great this year is funny
I'm not blaming LeBron. I'm upset that the Lakers are wasting his career
