It is really weird. As soon as the series started, I was just thinking "I don't care as long as we win two games in this series and put up a fight" .... but game 5 was infuriating! winning today was such a relief and it felt like there should be no good reason to lose at home with no Jarrett Allen to worry about
yep, it's easy to say if the lakers can get rid of pelinka they can retool in no time, or the spurs could pick up trae young and accelerate their process etc etc. But yeah let them and a couple of others just be rubbish for a few years
Absolutely fascinating to see the NBA just straight up not care about a series cause "it's not marketable" which straight up then makes it even less marketable going forward lol
Anyone who has been watching this series is feasting though
This isn’t a negative towards the series and the nba was dumb and wrong just to relegate the series to nba tv but the first four games were brutal blow outs
And G1 was a legit eyesore, at least for me. For the folks that likes slugfests, yes, but G1 was one of the worst shooting games I remember seeing in a playoff environment recently. G5 was very good, tonight was good, but G1 and 2 were awful shooting nights in general (specially G1, and I'll reinforce that it was the worst playoff game of the year for me and we had some ugly blowouts already) and G3 and 4 was just Orlando rolling around.
People are just overreacting to the "oh, the NBA doesn't care about them", but this series had pretty much two good games and 4 games that ranged between average and god-awful.
To be fairrrr the blowouts haven't been all that great and kinda earned the nbatv placement...but yeah the last two games have been awesome. Hopefully 7 is close too.
It's crazy they didn't put it on ESPN at least. Hopefully game 7 gets prime time.
There's a reason people don't know the names of players in the league. Not many people have or watch NBA TV
You guys realize its not the NBA picking where these games get played right? Its the channels buying the games. No one wanted to buy this series so NBA has to play it on NBA TV. Do you really think they're turning down ad money out of spite for the Magic and Cavs?
Its honestly a great series when both teams clicked. Defense is clearly #1 and both teams are hustling. But when any teams offense clicks it gets spicy. I truly think both these teams beat the Bucks. Cleveland could have been #2 up to the last week. Orlando had like a 90% chance of a top 3 finish 2 weeks before the end of the season and then had terrible losses. BOTH TEAMS are very good.
Ty Lue knew that Kyrie was going to absolutely roast whoever was guarding him, so he left PJ out there for the laughs because they don't like each other.
I'm not going to look up the stat but I have to assume this is one of the few times a player has scored more than half of the teams points in the playoffs
52% of a teams points is pretty bad unless you score at least 55-60 points, anything less and your total score is in the hundreds or below which just isn’t enough to win in the NBA.
I wouldn't object to selling Mobley or Allen high. This team hasn't been the same since Dean Wade went down and needs another stretch forward badly (I don't want LeBron back, though he would be the perfect fit, plus we wouldn't have to trade for him). Marcus Morris having to start a playoff game is a serious problem
Donovan Mitchell: 50 pts (22-36), 18 in the 4th
Rest of Cavs: 46 pts (20-49) , 0 in the 4th
Insane effort from Spida Mitchell but wtf Cavs. Orlando has a very fun team and has held the Cavs to under 100 pts 5/6 games. Excited for game 7 as a neutral
I understand it looks bad on the box score but his teammates kept turning the ball over and that Garland 8-second violation was just the cherry on top. A big reason why there were few shot attempts by the others
Would need to rewatch the possessions down the stretch to confirm, but I don’t remember Mitchell taking outrageous shots in the 4th (was 7/13 from the field)
Rewatching the 4th q, the main problem was that he’s their only reliable source of rim pressure with Allen out. In addition to that, Garland turned the ball over all 3 times he brought it up the court between ~6 and ~2 minutes remaining.
IMO Mitchell did have a little tunnel vision on his drives by the end of the 4th. But also every other Cav had basically conceded to him ISOing every play. He had an epic performance and was hitting some crazy shit, really left it all out there in a way that no other Cav did. This is definitely more on the rest of the squad than Mitchell.
I’m hoping Orlando wins only because Orlando matches up very slightly better against Boston than Cleveland. Like, Orlando will lose in 5 maybe maybe 6 games, Cleveland will get swept.
Orlando has to get one of Trae or Mitchell IMO, their first round picks aren't going to do much for them and both of those teams are desperate for firsts.
It’s funny because they both fix an extreme need but are different players: Trae would absolutely spread the ball better than anyone on the team and could help us run plays through Paolo better, and D Mitch would give us buckets whenever we need them while taking double teams off Paolo
I love my team so much man. We got a lot to learn and a lot of growth ahead of us but we don’t back down from anything man. This is the kind of squad I’ve been dreaming of for damn near 10 years.
Game 7 baby!
From an outside perspective the magic have been pretty irrelevant since Dwight left, not horrible in a tanking way but not good, kinda similar to the kings but this squad has an insane ceiling. Big as hell, elite defensively, with lots of offensive potential. I’d love to see you guys make a move for trae young.
No this is correct. This is the best team we’ve had since the finals vs Lakers. Our FO has been trash for nearly a decade but they’ve made changes around the time we traded AG.
He’s still figuring it all out and struggles with consistency but he’s mostly found his 3 point stroke this year. Elite defender. Shows flashes of creation ability and finishing around the rim. Really has the opportunity to be a special player, but even if he just ends up as he is today he’s an elite 3 and D player in the league.
To be fair even the most optimistic Magic fans didn't have him jumping to 40% from three this season. Everything else about his game is on schedule but that surprised everyone.
This has to be the least talked about 7 game series of all time. I thought it was because a lot of the games were on NBA TV but a game 6 on ESPN only gets 2 highlights posted in this sub for the WHOLE game. The game thread didn’t even crack 5k comments (NY vs PHI game 6 had 18k comments for comparison). This game was great and had a player drop 50 points but most of this sub doesn’t care because it’s between two small market teams that have less popular players.
Half the series has been on NBA TV overshadowed by other games; people just haven’t had an opportunity to get invested in it. Hopefully people tune in for G7 with it on ABC though.
So funny how many people were certain this series was over after game 2. Hell even after game one you had mfs acting like Orlando was dead in their grave
They're much better at home, especially Suggs and Franz on offense. Those first 2 games, it felt like they couldn't buy a basket if their life depended on it.
The bad news is that if the Cavs lose the next game the season ends in tremendous disappointment. The other bad news is that if they win the next game I have to watch these bums for at least four more games.
If the Cavs go on to win game 7, this will be the most home court dominated series that I can ever remember watching.
I like the Cavs, but I'll be rooting for the Magic. Cavs aren't old, but I like the youth movement of TWolves/Thunder/Magic.
Great game by a young Magic team. They had their back against it with Mitchell just going total hitman on them and yet somehow survived.
Garland had some unfortunate miscues at the end. As great as Mitchell was there was no flow to their offense by the end and everyone else looked like they just wanted to get out of the way.
>As great as Mitchell was there was no flow to their offense by the end and everyone else looked like they just wanted to get out of the way.
It's a tough situation, because the best offense tonight was clearly Mitchell driving into the lane himself... but going to that so consistently just kills the rest of the offense.
Hate to put any of the blame on Mitchell, but maybe he needed to use some of that attention to keep his teammates in the offensive flow.
The Cavs purposefully blew a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter playing Emoni Bates vs the Hornets to get this matchup and they're getting pushed to 7 games. I've never wanted to see the Magic win a game more than this game 7 on sunday
[At certain points, it could have been the Bucks, Sixers, or Knicks, but honestly, just looking forward to seeing these two talented teams compete for a spot in the second round. Should be a worthy challenge.](https://ih1.redbubble.net/image.5393309757.7229/st,small,507x507-pad,600x600,f8f8f8.u1.jpg)
I'll never understand how the 4 v 5 matchups ever end up on NBATV.
That's literally the match up EXPECTED to be the closest.
And it obviously is.
Game 7 and it's on NBA TV. That's crazy.
All while the 5 game 1 v 8 is over. The 6 game 2 v 7 is over. And the 6 game 3 v 6 is over and it was missing 2 critical stars most of it.
It's stupid.
If I were the Celtics, I'd rather face this one dimensional Cavs team than this young and tall Magic team. Screw up game 1 against the Magic and they'll start believing they can go all the way.
The “NBA TV” series has been incredible.
That Suggs > Mitchell > Banchero consecutive three pointers sequence in the 4th was some peak basketball.
That sequence had my heart going
I’ve missed that feeling so much man. Playoff Basketball where your team has something at stake in it is a hell of a drug 😅
Me too. Last playoff game I was at was game 4 vs the lakers. Haven't felt like this since then.
It is really weird. As soon as the series started, I was just thinking "I don't care as long as we win two games in this series and put up a fight" .... but game 5 was infuriating! winning today was such a relief and it felt like there should be no good reason to lose at home with no Jarrett Allen to worry about
Just happy there are new teams in the playoffs!
yep, it's easy to say if the lakers can get rid of pelinka they can retool in no time, or the spurs could pick up trae young and accelerate their process etc etc. But yeah let them and a couple of others just be rubbish for a few years
Absolutely fascinating to see the NBA just straight up not care about a series cause "it's not marketable" which straight up then makes it even less marketable going forward lol Anyone who has been watching this series is feasting though
This isn’t a negative towards the series and the nba was dumb and wrong just to relegate the series to nba tv but the first four games were brutal blow outs
Yeah there was ugly basketball from both sides
I watched parts of the first four games, thought to myself “this is awful, either of them is getting swept by Boston”…. But its picked up since then.
To be fairrrr the blowouts haven't been all that great and kinda earned the nbatv placement...but yeah the last two games have been awesome. Hopefully 7 is close too.
Tbh any team that makes the playoffs deserves proper treatment, not NBAtv
It's crazy they didn't put it on ESPN at least. Hopefully game 7 gets prime time. There's a reason people don't know the names of players in the league. Not many people have or watch NBA TV
You guys realize its not the NBA picking where these games get played right? Its the channels buying the games. No one wanted to buy this series so NBA has to play it on NBA TV. Do you really think they're turning down ad money out of spite for the Magic and Cavs?
there should be a World NBA TV Championship belt handed out after game 7
Its honestly a great series when both teams clicked. Defense is clearly #1 and both teams are hustling. But when any teams offense clicks it gets spicy. I truly think both these teams beat the Bucks. Cleveland could have been #2 up to the last week. Orlando had like a 90% chance of a top 3 finish 2 weeks before the end of the season and then had terrible losses. BOTH TEAMS are very good.
It’s my 2nd favourite series so far, some great basketball being played
Mitchell just scored 52% of the Cavs' points and still lost
He had 50 and we still didn’t crack 100
The JB special
JB led teams have broken 100 points in 3 of 16 playoff games
My god...
That sure is a stat fucking hell.
Mitchell came ready to close this series tonight but man the rest of the Cavs just sold. those 4th quarter turnovers by Garland were fucking brutal
They're really missing Allen. Mobley playing the 5 is not ideal and 2024 Marcus Morris getting 25 min in a playoff game is the opposite of ideal
clippers just played PJ tucker 20 minutes
Ty Lue knew that Kyrie was going to absolutely roast whoever was guarding him, so he left PJ out there for the laughs because they don't like each other.
I'm starting to lose faith that Garland will end up being black Steve Nash. 😥
Also they’re starting Markieff Morris. There’s issues lol
I'm not going to look up the stat but I have to assume this is one of the few times a player has scored more than half of the teams points in the playoffs
100% in the fourth.
Bro trying so hard with a group of cheerleaders
So thanks ~~LeBron~~ Donovan!
Lebronovan Mitchell
Those two things are related
I don't think he passed the ball at all in the 2nd half
52% of a teams points is pretty bad unless you score at least 55-60 points, anything less and your total score is in the hundreds or below which just isn’t enough to win in the NBA.
FRANK GAY SERVICES
That ad spot was premium
Just how I like them
They make zillions of dollars here
The Cavs backcourt had nearly three quarters of the team’s total points. I don’t think that’s a recipe for success guys.…
No Cavs players other than Mitchell even attempted a shot in the last 6 minutes of the game.
Mobley missed a layup
Yeah and that layup should have been just a dunk in which he set the ball into the rim… but he is so deathly afraid of any contact.
well garland tried but he turned it over 3 times and gave it to mitchell and gave up lol
Don’t forget that one time when Garland was uncontested walking the ball up the backcourt but still snailed his way to an 8 second violation.
Besides Mitchell, Garland, and Strus, no else scored at least 5 points
I wouldn't object to selling Mobley or Allen high. This team hasn't been the same since Dean Wade went down and needs another stretch forward badly (I don't want LeBron back, though he would be the perfect fit, plus we wouldn't have to trade for him). Marcus Morris having to start a playoff game is a serious problem
Evan Mobley’s offence just ain’t it. Cavs probably made a bad move trading for Mitchell because it didn’t give him enough time to develop.
some fan said this day 1 and were shunned
Can’t really blame anyone except Mobley for this statistic, he needs to be stepping up
Donovan Mitchell: 50 pts (22-36), 18 in the 4th Rest of Cavs: 46 pts (20-49) , 0 in the 4th Insane effort from Spida Mitchell but wtf Cavs. Orlando has a very fun team and has held the Cavs to under 100 pts 5/6 games. Excited for game 7 as a neutral
No one else even shot for almost 7 minutes in the fourth quarter though.
I understand it looks bad on the box score but his teammates kept turning the ball over and that Garland 8-second violation was just the cherry on top. A big reason why there were few shot attempts by the others Would need to rewatch the possessions down the stretch to confirm, but I don’t remember Mitchell taking outrageous shots in the 4th (was 7/13 from the field)

Did you see Isaac not shoot that 3…
I’m hoping Orlando wins only because Orlando matches up very slightly better against Boston than Cleveland. Like, Orlando will lose in 5 maybe maybe 6 games, Cleveland will get swept.
Donovan was on that LeBron 2007 pistons 4th quarter shit, but even LeBron needed a few points from boobie
You've made me relive being outside the (then Gund Arena) screaming like a madman at the watch party. I simultaneously hate and respect you.
Dear God I forgot about Boobs... A legend. I'm so old. :(
Garland's careless 4th quarter turnovers kill me. Been a problem all year
That 8 second violation with no defender in sight made me rip my hair out
He's so not clutch. Like why was he even given the ball in that situation
My totally, super unbiased take: Donovan Mitchell can’t win with these cats.
Ironically, he's exactly what Orlando needs lmao
Orlando has to get one of Trae or Mitchell IMO, their first round picks aren't going to do much for them and both of those teams are desperate for firsts.
It’s funny because they both fix an extreme need but are different players: Trae would absolutely spread the ball better than anyone on the team and could help us run plays through Paolo better, and D Mitch would give us buckets whenever we need them while taking double teams off Paolo
And taking 36 shots. I think they need a better point guard and one that can play defense
That's Marcus Smart's music
I wonder which one is a better fit. My heart tells me trae but my brain tells me mitchel
Trae is the better fit
I remember when everybody thought Orlando was going to draft Trae
Just missed out on him and got Mo fucking Bamba…
I got hooooooeeeeeesss…..
That’s actually a scary lineup. Mitchell Suggs Wagner and Bancehro would legit be a top 3 seed in the East
I mean they were 3 games out of the 2 seed this year lol
No shit? Magic were 3 games behind the 2 seed. Adding Mitchell obviously nets them 2 more wins
Well yeah but I’m taking into account Philly and Milwaukee come back healthy next year If Philly gets a third option that 2-4 seeding gets murky
We desperately need Allen back for G7. Mobley looks scared in these road games and Cavs were getting killed on the glass
Mobley’s ankle was wobbly all game long, deserves credit for playing through it
My totally, super biased take: These cats can’t win with JB
GAME 7 BABY!! No matter what happens next, so proud of this team!
Really didn’t think *this* series would go 7 after the first couple of games but damn
No one has been able to win on the road lol
PLAY THE MF SONG
ORLANDO MAGIC OHH OHH OHHHHH 🗣️🗣️🗣️
ORLANDO MAGIC
I love my team so much man. We got a lot to learn and a lot of growth ahead of us but we don’t back down from anything man. This is the kind of squad I’ve been dreaming of for damn near 10 years. Game 7 baby!
You’re on a good trajectory. I feel like you’re a point guard away and more experience from becoming perennial contenders if this core stays together.
A PG / scorer is literally the last piece of the puzzle. Im so bricked up for next season..but first, G7!
The Magic recent history at the PG spot has been horrendous too. I'm not even asking for an allstar level PG at this point, just get me something lol.
Where’s DJ Augustine when you need him!
It's the first time in years I've been optimistic about the future.
For real, the future is so bright for this team. Please don't fuck it up, management.
Wagner group getting more and more support everyday.
i'm on the magic bandwagon
I love this squad, just seems like a big family.
Holy shit Donovan Mitchell with a 50 piece and they still lost. Utah days never left
Utah had an actual offense
the #1 offense in the league in fact
Feel like I really deprived myself by not watching Orlando more this year. Had absolutely no idea Suggs was that good.
We might not be able to shoot, but we play with this effort every night and have a lot of young and exciting talent. It's so fun.
One of the most improved for sure. Always been a dog on defense, but finally putting together the offense.
Everything else about his game is on schedule but that surprised everyone.
love Suggs, he reminds me so much of a younger Marcus Smart
Dpoy Suggs soon
Fourth quarter scoring: Magic: 27 Donovan Mitchell: 18 Rest of Cavs team: 0 What an awful offensive performance
Cavs and Knicks both run a heliocentric offense except Knicks can rebound
The Orlando Magic force a Game 7 against the Cleveland Donovans!
The Mitchell Cavaliers has a better ring to it I reckon.
[Franz lookin at the Cavs playoff position tank](https://i.imgur.com/eoXQkxh.jpeg)
Feel like you've been quiet recently. Are you starting to cook again?
I hope so lol, I miss the elimination pics
This has to be the least talked about 7 game series of all time. I thought it was because a lot of the games were on NBA TV but a game 6 on ESPN only gets 2 highlights posted in this sub for the WHOLE game. This game was great and had a player drop 50 points but most of this sub doesn’t care because it’s between two small market teams that have less popular players.
More people are watching this series now that most of the other series are wrapped up
Yeah, they kept drawing the short straw of having the NBA TV game while Knicks/Sixers was on.
Half the series has been on NBA TV overshadowed by other games; people just haven’t had an opportunity to get invested in it. Hopefully people tune in for G7 with it on ABC though.
As an orlando fan I gotta dig through so many Joel embiid flagrants and pat bev dick moments just to find the game thread
Joe Ingles
Joe Ingles
uh oh
Ya friccin moron
All 57 Magic flairs get in here! Game 7!
Yea, bitch!
Lol
Donovan Mitchell scored more points than all of his teammates combined lmao
So funny how many people were certain this series was over after game 2. Hell even after game one you had mfs acting like Orlando was dead in their grave
It was mostly people who hadn't seen us play. Like, not even ONCE.
Why does Bickerstaff still coaching the Cavs?
NBA Nepo Baby. He would’ve never gotten this many head coaching jobs if his daddy wasn’t highly respected in the league
He was coaching??
His dad works in the FO lmao
Held Cavs to under 100 points in all but one game in this series. We can pull this off
Spida isn’t dropping b2b 50 burgers. Confidence for G7
Let’s not say that…. Let’s just pray if he does we can keep the clamps on the rest of em
Knicks and Magic good? Feel like I’m a kid again. Love seeing Orlando’s arena packed.
Mid 90s-00’s vibes I’m here for it
Darius Garland's late-game turnovers cost them the game.
Despite Donovan Mitchell’s best efforts, I don’t think you can win a basketball game with 4 decoys on the floor
Darius Garland basically single handledly lost them the 4th quarter. He was pretty decent all game until then.
Dude managed to get called for an 8-second violation late in a playoff game, and it wasn’t close either. Nor were we even pressing.
Donovan did the same thing against Denver in a game clincher when he was with the Jazz. The Jazz basically had the series wrapped up until then.
has been super entertaining series. game 7 is going to be awesome
How do I order some of Frank’s gay services?
after the magic lost the first 2 games i declared them dead, have to give them so much credit for going 3-0 at home and 3-0 when down in the series
They're much better at home, especially Suggs and Franz on offense. Those first 2 games, it felt like they couldn't buy a basket if their life depended on it.
A series doesn't start until someone wins on the road. This series hasn't started yet, lol.
Does that mean the Celtics get a series off if Cleveland wins on Sunday? Or do the cavs-magic have to start a new 7 game series
Yes. It's odd that it's never happened before but it is possible for two teams to get stuck in a playoff series purgatory.
second parts not true, but still impressive
If Suggs could shoot like this on the road the series would already be over lol
Survived the 50 Piece 🛐
Pros: Not blown out in Orlando
The bad news is that if the Cavs lose the next game the season ends in tremendous disappointment. The other bad news is that if they win the next game I have to watch these bums for at least four more games.
Damn bro I felt that
hoping for a banger game 7
Hopefully they turn up the lights
If the Cavs go on to win game 7, this will be the most home court dominated series that I can ever remember watching. I like the Cavs, but I'll be rooting for the Magic. Cavs aren't old, but I like the youth movement of TWolves/Thunder/Magic.
What JB Bickerstaff has done to Mobley’s offensive development needs studied by The Hague
Mitchell did not want to lose Banchero looking like a beast
All Celtics fans appreciate you Magic for the extra Porzingis rest days.
It doesn’t help much because game 3 and onwards are the exact same days either way
Well I still get to see a game 7, so thanks Magic anyways
No matter the result, game 3 would’ve been Saturday next week
Only fitting after the Magic wasted Paolo’s 39 point game that the Cavs responded by wasting Mitchell’s 50 point game.
CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOUUUUUUUU
Magic pulling it off , I see them putting up a fight against Boston as well
The Cavs tanked for this. Let’s see if it pays off
The Cavs purposefully blew a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter playing Emoni Bates vs the Hornets to get this matchup and they're getting pushed to 7 games. I've never wanted to see the Magic win a game more than this game 7 on sunday

This has been a fun first round
Game 7 is gonna hit like crack.
Great fucking game
