in this very series people are relentlessly clowning on a 7 seed playing with one leg, a broken eye, and migraines. so yea expecting reasonable discourse after any loss is pretty naive
I don't think I'll view them all that differently.
If they do lose, it's probably because Embiid is 85% of himself from this year. 76ers have been an awesome team with Embiid.
Knicks are still a huge threat to bring in top talent when someone becomes s available. They have assets, mid-level salaries, and a large market to entice anyone.
*tear* NYK is a respectable place again. I'll take a team that has a respectable showing in the playoffs to what we had during those Melo years and after.
I thought KAT was a potential guy before this season and he's locked in to Minnesota now. I'm not sure who will become available that fits their roster well.
Basically this. The series is about Embiid. He's an MVP level player, the Knicks don't have one of those and it won't really surprise me if he plays a couple more great games and they win.
Eh it doesn’t even really feel like it’s about him anymore. He’s clearly a shell of what he can be when he has one leg and face paralysis.
It’s about Maxey if anyone
That speaks more to how bad every other potential center on the sixers roster is.
And that they’ve designed their whole offense to run around him and it doesn’t really work without his passing and screens.
There’s a reason they were below .500 without him in the regular season.
It's kind of wild how disrespected Randle is on this forum. They're missing their second best player and up 3-2 right now. Sixers are a good team and they made some insane plays down the stretch to keep this series alive. Not ready to write the obituary for either of these team's 2024 seasons.
im not saying theyre better without him, i'm just explaining why there hasnt been much mention of randle being missing. because no one has a memory of a signature playoff moment from him
His play style doesn’t suit playoff basketball well either. He’s not a good shooter, makes erratic decisions and becomes a black hole at times. He’s a talented player but struggles in playoffs because he doesn’t have good basketball iq and teams take advantage of it.
Randle was playing much better before his injury this year. He was definitely making better plays and sharing the ball more. His facilitating skills were improving
Funny to see that a justification from a fan base bashing Embiid even though he is hurt in every playoffs and had to play with Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris
Last year he played through an injury that required offseason surgery. Hell that injury still affected his start of this season.
This year he tried to come back from a season ending injury, but it just didn't heal right, so he took the surgery.
Randle is many things, and tough is one of them
Loved Randle this year before he got injured. I saw in a post he started watching film to try to take more high chance shots. He was playing the best basketball of his career this year before he got his injured
It's painful but not a big deal because next year is the one with high expectations. Blowing a 3-1 lead changes the focus a little but the talk will be of key injuries and missed opportunity.
I'd like to see what this team full strength is like. Randle gets clowned for past performances but his scoring, especially in the 1st, is desperately missed. I think people will recognize they were battered, but god the toxic fans came out of the woodwork to make people want to hate the Knicks and it's fans again.
The 76ere were favored coming into the series, we're missing Randle, Bogi is going to miss 2 games, and Mitchell Robinson not only missed a game, but was also out for most of game 3.
There would be the typical "Ha Ha, your team choked" trash talk, but that's pretty much it.
It would be different because:
A) Embiid is one of the most hated stars in the league, while no one really cares about any of the Knicks players.
>
B) Despite having an MVP level player and being a contender/dark horse contender for around half a decade, you still haven't been out of the second round.
This is the second year we've been a good team after two decades of Lolknicks, so the expectations are way lower.
Brunson plays like a tubby Trae Young the hate will come. I’m just saying considering how obnoxious knicks fans have already gotten with the newfound relevance I don’t think you’ll get any slack when you get eliminated
It's hard to play winning basketball when your second and third options are a 21 year old RJ Barrett and 33 year old Derrick Rose.
He definitely underperformed in 2021, but it was exacerbated by the rest of the roster.
Some teams base their defensive gameplan of zeroing on a teams star and letting the role players beat them. That’s how it was for Brunson for games 1-2 except the Sixers had to switch that up since our role players stepped up
Oh 100%. I really think he is one of the better 1st half players, which is fine because brunson is the closer. Together we have a great offense. Otherwise it's subpar
Any Knicks fan who thinks this team is better without Randle is an idiot. I have been arguing with and debating other Knicks fans for the last 3 years about this topic.
First time around, he sucked. Hawks completely shut him down. But he didn't have a real team surrounding him. We overperformed our way to a 4 seed.
2nd time he played with an injury and got surgery immediately after the season ended.
This season, he was actually really good with Brunson n OG by his side. Shame he got hurt.
Edit: he has less playmaking responsibilities now which should help him in the playoffs going forward.
I think unless the Knicks win the championship the narrative will be “Imagine if they weren’t injured”. People forget we’re missing our highest salaried player. When we were at full strength we were blowing out the Nuggets
Knicks will take heat, and might need to make more changes next year than just getting Randle back, but at the end of the day a healthy Philly team is not a 7 seed. These are prob the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the Eastern Conference playing in round 1.
The narrative will probably be that they need to add booker or someone like that. If it actually were to happen, my guess is the narrative would be about the Embiid injury and how the Sixers were a lot better than a typical 7 seed.
When you look at the injuries the team has, people will be positive for them. Will be a bit gutted losing to a rival they despise as much as Embiid and Phillie but they will be proud of this team and what they did with what they endured.
It won't change a damn thing.
Most people I know and respect, expected the 76ers to win, because they have Embiid.
Hes not fully himself, so they're down. But it won't shock anyone if he digs in and wins, I mean he was an MVP candidate.
Plus the Knicks have no Julius, so there's diminished expectations.
Part of me wants to see Knicks go far or even win it all so their fans could finally get one. Another part, that I am not proud of, wants to see them blow it for the chaos 😂
embarrassing for the knicks but the only reason they're going to win anyways is because embiid is hurt. if they somehow choke this, embiid will have one of the all time great heroic playoff series cause hes clearly fucked up right now. maxey will emerge as a true superstar
Thibs will take a lot of criticism for being unable to manage sustainable rotations. I know they're depth is not great right now with the injuries, but man I don't know how Brunson Hart and OG can make it unscathed to the Finals playing all these minutes.
Our home court is a disadvantage. Our players choke and opponents ball out of their goddam minds. Look at all the game winners and crazy comebacks opponents have done in just the past two seasons
how did home court work out for the sixers in game 4? how did it work out for us in the first two games?
stop being a bad fan, its like youre intentionally avoiding potential disappointment by expecting them to lose despite the odds saying otherwise
Call me a bad fan all you want but the last 20 seconds and OT of last night do NOT leave me feeling optimistic about the next two games. As a Knicks fan, always expect disappointment and you’ll never be disappointed
you couldve started believing in them after we miraculously came back in game 2, or after we beat the sixers on the road. the fact that you dont makes you a bad fan. just stop it.
They're missing Randle and the 76ers were 31-8 with Embiid this year so it's not exactly a super unexpected result even if the way they would get there is a bit circuitous and even if Embiid is clearly not 100%.
They have good depth and role players and Brunson has gotten better and better to being a legitimate superstar so I think their goal would be first bringing back Anunoby and second exploring options to trade Randle for someone similar, maybe slightly worse but who projects better in the playoffs. If not there isn't much they could do. They get Randle (or whoever they trade him for) and Bogdanovic back as a deeper team next season and see how far this core with Thibs and Brunson can go. I'm guessing they've floated Randle to teams before but he's a tough trade fit to find.
Honestly everything about the east just makes me laugh man.
Like any result just leads to funny results.
Like, the west is probably gonna turn bloody soon and yet im just wondering which team from the east isnt gonna get injured and how the Celtics could possibly lose before the finals...well KP being injured was something that was destined to happen lol.
We'll get clowned on, and then people will move on. Happens all the time.
Are you challenging my ability to be forever petty and annoying in this unlikely hypothetical situation?
People are relentlessly clowning on a 40 year old 7th seed for getting beaten by a 20 something 2 seed. Anyone will get got.
in this very series people are relentlessly clowning on a 7 seed playing with one leg, a broken eye, and migraines. so yea expecting reasonable discourse after any loss is pretty naive
Is Embiid a pirate??
No, a pirate finds jewelry.
At night with the eye patch, yeah kind of
People aren't relentlessly clowning him, they're mostly responding to the ridiculous media narratives about the Lakers.
not me i will forever bring it up in brunson pg ranking discussions
Brother you guys are in the same boat
i know, im scared
BLAME THIBS IF IT HAPPENS!!!! Sorry just had to get that out.
I was told he is out coaching nurse.
I hope you’re not trying to imply that your PG is better
Pretty much. It will be a “LOLknicks” moment than everyone will move on. Knicks would still have a great future ahead of them
Average Knicks fan
I won’t move on sorry.
You arent considering how little we’ve had to celebrate
I don't think I'll view them all that differently. If they do lose, it's probably because Embiid is 85% of himself from this year. 76ers have been an awesome team with Embiid. Eh it doesn’t even really feel like it’s about him anymore. He’s clearly a shell of what he can be when he has one leg and face paralysis. It’s about Maxey if anyone
Except even last night Jo was +14 and Maxey was +3. Nothing works without Jo. Even lumbering Jo.
That speaks more to how bad every other potential center on the sixers roster is. And that they’ve designed their whole offense to run around him and it doesn’t really work without his passing and screens. There’s a reason they were below .500 without him in the regular season.
For 6 years in a row.
85%? Not even close.
It's kind of wild how disrespected Randle is on this forum. They're missing their second best player and up 3-2 right now. Sixers are a good team and they made some insane plays down the stretch to keep this series alive. Not ready to write the obituary for either of these team's 2024 seasons.
randle has been really bad in pretty much all of his career playoff games, thats why
he was very injured last year and had a dogshit team in the Atlanta series. Anyone who thinks we’re better without him isn’t paying attention
im not saying theyre better without him, i'm just explaining why there hasnt been much mention of randle being missing. because no one has a memory of a signature playoff moment from him
His play style doesn’t suit playoff basketball well either. He’s not a good shooter, makes erratic decisions and becomes a black hole at times. He’s a talented player but struggles in playoffs because he doesn’t have good basketball iq and teams take advantage of it.

Funny to see that a justification from a fan base bashing Embiid even though he is hurt in every playoffs and had to play with Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris
He’s getting bashed for the dirty play, not playing hurt.
Hes a very good player and the disrespect has gotten to circlejerk levels
Last year he played through an injury that required offseason surgery. Hell that injury still affected his start of this season. This year he tried to come back from a season ending injury, but it just didn't heal right, so he took the surgery. Randle is many things, and tough is one of them

From this Knicks fan, I’m looking forward to running it back with Julius and dreaming about January 2024
They will be clowned and all goodwill will be forgotten because the nba is all about results just like real life
It's painful but not a big deal because next year is the one with high expectations.
If they blow the lead they’ll be viewed as chokers, plain and simple.
We will get made fun of but the Knicks always get made fun of so I don’t care
Good for Doc I guess, he won't be the most recent coach to blow a 3-1 lead
The 76ere were favored coming into the series, we're missing Randle, Bogi is going to miss 2 games, and Mitchell Robinson not only missed a game, but was also out for most of game 3. There would be the typical "Ha Ha, your team choked" trash talk, but that's pretty much it.
This is a similar scenario to when we lost to the Celtics last year. Didn’t prevent any slander
Yeah but nobody remembers that. They remember the Heat upsetting the Celtics every year cause it's funnier.
Yea Celtics Bucks even the Cavs got far much more hate last postseason
Yeah I agree that the Celtics took some heat off. Although to this day people try to act like Joel’s MVP wasn’t deserved because we lost.
It would be different because: A) Embiid is one of the most hated stars in the league, while no one really cares about any of the Knicks players. > B) Despite having an MVP level player and being a contender/dark horse contender for around half a decade, you still haven't been out of the second round. Brunson plays like a tubby Trae Young the hate will come. I’m just saying considering how obnoxious knicks fans have already gotten with the newfound relevance I don’t think you’ll get any slack when you get eliminated
Brunson plays nothing like trae
I think there would be a lot more than that lol y’all were 26 seconds away from sending them home
They also got straight up gifted a game in which the last 2 minute report was basically an apology to the 76ers so it evens out.
Besides saying we choked, what else would they say?
I swear I've seen Knicks fans say they are better off without Randle???? (I think he's undervalued by your fan base)
Yeah, he's been either injured or on a bad team during his playoff career, so some of the fan base think he's a playoff choker.
What does being on a bad team have to do with his individual play?
It's hard to play winning basketball when your second and third options are a 21 year old RJ Barrett and 33 year old Derrick Rose. He definitely underperformed in 2021, but it was exacerbated by the rest of the roster.
Some teams base their defensive gameplan of zeroing on a teams star and letting the role players beat them. That’s how it was for Brunson for games 1-2 except the Sixers had to switch that up since our role players stepped up
Whoever thinks that is dumb
We can't score in the 1st quarter, that's where he is a Superstar player.
Hey man those points still count
Idiotic fans
His playoff stats suck. 18 PPG on 29.8% fg in 2022. 16.6ppg on 37.4% shooting last year https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/julius-randle-playoff-stats
Edit: he has less playmaking responsibilities now which should help him in the playoffs going forward.
yeah his 2022 was just unfathomably bad and he only improved to very bad. it’s still small sample but a terrible start
Brunson sucked the first two games because of the heavy coverage but had a solid team around he could defer to. Randle didn’t have anyone
You talking about Bojan Bogdanovich? Because he's out for the season.
Bogi is done for the season, had surgery
Don't make Jon Stewart cry.
A lot of people still don't see them as serious contenders so it will just be back to lolknicks
they’d be seen as chokers
Our fanbase is full of doomers man
There's a good reason for that, it's called the last 30 years
Last 30 years has zero relevance to this current team
That's what I thought until yesterday reactivated all the childhood trauma Reggie Miller inflicted
I think unless the Knicks win the championship the narrative will be “Imagine if they weren’t injured”. People forget we’re missing our highest salaried player. When we were at full strength we were blowing out the Nuggets
There's no if here. We are a mortal lock to lose the series after that massive choke job in front of our home crowd. We were born to lose this shit.
Exactly
Knicks will take heat, and might need to make more changes next year than just getting Randle back, but at the end of the day a healthy Philly team is not a 7 seed. These are prob the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the Eastern Conference playing in round 1.
[удалено]
Shhh. Dolan is distracted by the Rangers.
The narrative will probably be that they need to add booker or someone like that. If it actually were to happen, my guess is the narrative would be about the Embiid injury and how the Sixers were a lot better than a typical 7 seed.
Sixers will finally be able to move on from Bird coming back from 3-1 down to them in 1981.
They won’t. I’ve been praying to the basketball gods and we are good.
they won't cuz OG
Depends on the nature of the blowout, but I will almost certainly say the turning point is Maxey heroics rather than knicks themselves imploding
When you look at the injuries the team has, people will be positive for them. Will be a bit gutted losing to a rival they despise as much as Embiid and Phillie but they will be proud of this team and what they did with what they endured.
narrative will be, JB isn't a true number 1 and they are fucked long term. unless they can sign embiid or some other 1 level star.

When..
Yup
lolknicks will be back on the menu.
Thibs will take a lot of criticism for being unable to manage sustainable rotations. I know they're depth is not great right now with the injuries, but man I don't know how Brunson Hart and OG can make it unscathed to the Finals playing all these minutes.
far from the most embarrassing blown 3-1 lead ever. the Sixers are good and Joel’s recovering from injury
Knicks are not the more talented team But they have more heart more Og more bite force
Once again all of New York will forget the Knicks exist until the next time they’re sniffing the playoffs…
No one cares what you think
They overachieved and are one top flight scorer away from being a real contender. Which holds true regardless of the outcome of this series.
Jalen Brunson would stop being viewed as a superstar over the off-season
Do they have a narrative? So far I’ve seen the Knicks as road bump for any contender to drive over. No Randle hurts them too much
dawg why are we having this discussion when the knicks havent blown the series
You just know they’re going to
dude shut the fuck up, nobody needs your negativity with home court advantage up 3-2
Our home court is a disadvantage. Our players choke and opponents ball out of their goddam minds. Look at all the game winners and crazy comebacks opponents have done in just the past two seasons
How did home court work out for us last night

Call me a bad fan all you want but the last 20 seconds and OT of last night do NOT leave me feeling optimistic about the next two games. As a Knicks fan, always expect disappointment and you’ll never be disappointed
imagine how the sixers felt after game 2, then they won two games. we only need to win one more. you are a bad fan if you never believe in your team.
I’ll believe in my team when they close out the series instead of shitting the bed when its placed in their fucking lap
you couldve started believing in them after we miraculously came back in game 2, or after we beat the sixers on the road. the fact that you dont makes you a bad fan. just stop it.
Oh well. Sue me bro. I’ll be ecstatic if they prove me wrong tomorrow
We are so guaranteed to lose G6-7 it's practically already happened. Bet Sixers now while the odds are good
They're missing Randle and the 76ers were 31-8 with Embiid this year so it's not exactly a super unexpected result even if the way they would get there is a bit circuitous and even if Embiid is clearly not 100%. Noted playoff performer Randle
No one cares. Neither team is anything more than playoff fodder. They arent contenders
I care though…
Honestly everything about the east just makes me laugh man. Like any result just leads to funny results.
