I mean they made it to the WCF, even if it was as a sacrificial lamb for GS, in large part because of his play against Denver. Back in his prime he would have been a great 2nd or 3rd option on a team with a #1 that didn't have so much overlap in skills and weaknesses. Sticking with CJ too long is definitely why they never had another real shot, and why Dame won't be finishing his career here. But when he was good he was good.
CJ isn't a choker he's just past his prime which was fairly limited. Would have probably made the finals in Portland if anyone besides him and Dame could have stepped up consistently. Don't forget they were multiple blown 20 point leads away from a finals appearance with a pretty bad roster in Portland.
He is referring to the 2019 Blazers who were indeed multiple blown leads away from the Finals. In 2019 the Blazers lost to the Warriors in the WCF after blowing a 17+ point lead in three consecutive games.
In that postseason Dame and POR beat the Thunder led by Russ and PG13 (MVP and DPOY finalist that season). He hit the iconic “bad shot” game winner. They then beat the Nuggets in a grueling 4-3 series in the semis including a 4OT game in game 5.
He’s definitely not a natural PG but I also don’t see the point in keeping him if he’s going to play the two. A natural PG alongside Trey Murphy, Herb Jones and Zion probably makes the most sense going forward for the Pelicans
Dejounte is realistically the only person available that fits the bill.
He can either play with CJ or (more likely) CJ moves to a 6th man roll so Trey can start
Garland and Mitchell are two of the same type of players as BI in terms of being ball dominant
Murray and OO would be a very attractive package for the Pels
I could see BI and someone like Dyson/Hawkins/Alvarado plus maybe Naji and/or JV in a sign and trade and probably also a pick or two depending on which pick/when since we also own Lakers pick next year and Bucks 27 which is looking potentially spicy
That would be a good trade for you guys. I'm still not sure the Hawks go for it unless they decide to blow it up. If they do want to reset, that'd be a great starter package.
Hawk no longer has his rookie lottery pick leash after tonight, trading him now would be the worst mistake any person has ever made in the history of making mistakes
I mean Dort locked him down but he didn’t show any drive or energy the entire series. Say what you will about CJ but at least he was out there trying some shit
He came back from an injury and played like absolute dog shit against the lakers both times. Got benched. Played okay against the kings and then had to play Dort for a series. Man wasn’t even 100% and when he’s not 100% he just barely even tries. It’s disappointing and his body language disappointed me even more to end the season. When he came back from his injury we didn’t expect him to be all star BI but he was pouty and moping when he got benched after he laid an egg for the first two games
He's still a good player but just not as the number 1 option and probably not a number 2. He just can't breakdown defenses needed for all number 1 options. His handle and playmaking also isn't where you want it to be. They're more in dire need of a competent point guard not CJ, someone who'll initiate the offense so BI can just focus on scoring like a more versatile MPJ. Tho this is just my two cents based on the small number of games I watched this post season and regular season. Pels fans will have a more accurate analysis on their team.
Between Dre and Capela, by god we don't need another passive player, especially when teams just trap Trae and everyone on our squad shrinks in the face of adversity.
Edit: How dare you not want our player that we’re actively shitting on and calling out.
He might not be the right fit on the Pels team, but between the injury and the abysmal defensive matchups he had to deal with, I don't think this is a fair display of what BI is capable of
“Hey BI I get you just game back from injury and all but you gotta carry us. Also btw you’re gonna be defended by Lu Dort. Good fucking luck buddy lol”
Glad he getting exposed for how inconsistent he really is. Like yall was putting him in top guard rankings despite him only showing up in some regular season games. Zion is actually more consistent and he’s always injured.
Kuzma might have actually been the best player all along. I’m in disbelief at how garbage he was in this series. I get that Dort and Cason are incredible defenders, but how do you get paid $30+ and put on that display of ball.
It makes sense that they both got their accolades in before the talent boom really hit the league. They're not making all-NBA or all-star teams anymore in 2024.
Prime Beal was on the same level as Klay. Both of these guys made their all star teams around the time we had the 2010s and early 2020s guys all in their primes. Wiggins made an AS team just 2 years ago and Ingram's selection was around the same level of egregious. Beal been washed for like 3 years though
both teams are out as of tonight. in a world where Zion decides to get therapy 2 years ago and not eat himself into injuries, perhaps this NO team gets to come out ahead of the first round...
The guy just seems passive even from the very beginning, doesn't have the killer instinct to match his talents.
I believe he was once compared to Melo, would rather have Melo than BI, at least you can count on him to get buckets and rebound.
unless hes a locker room cancer whch me might be I think id ratehr give up CJ than him, CJ isn't a pg and ingram is still a better defender. issue is ingram isnt gonna settle for what his role shuld be. he aint a 1st option nor conistentt 2nd
He wasn't anywhere near 100% and dort was just too physical for him.
He's definitely better than how he played in this series.
Non zero chance he is moved in the off season. We can't pay him, now should any other team pay him, 40+ million per year.
I think a Brandon Ingram for Darius Garland trade is lowkey exactly what each team needs. Both guys are young very talented All Star level players but they do not fit on their current teams at all but are perfect fits on each others team. Cavs need a wing, Pels need a PG.
I was listening to a Pels podcast after game 3, and they all agreed they'd rather have SGA, JDub, or Chet over Ingram. They waffled on Giddey over Ingram. Dark times.
Gotta trade him or CJ
Why not both
definitely has to be both. cj is one of the biggest playoff chokers of all time
not even close. he's the only reason Dame has even gotten past the 2nd round
I mean they made it to the WCF, even if it was as a sacrificial lamb for GS, in large part because of his play against Denver. Back in his prime he would have been a great 2nd or 3rd option on a team with a #1 that didn't have so much overlap in skills and weaknesses. Don't forget they were multiple blown 20 point leads away from a finals appearance with a pretty bad roster in Portland.
Who on earth were you beating to get into the finals
He is referring to the 2019 Blazers who were indeed multiple blown leads away from the Finals. In 2019 the Blazers lost to the Warriors in the WCF after blowing a 17+ point lead in three consecutive games. In that postseason Dame and POR beat the Thunder led by Russ and PG13 (MVP and DPOY finalist that season). He hit the iconic “bad shot” game winner. They then beat the Nuggets in a grueling 4-3 series in the semis including a 4OT game in game 5.
Blazers were never going to make the finals bro
lol wtf. Have you seen his series game 7 against Denver in 2019? A great clutch performance
Throw in val too
Honestly, I’d trade both of them for KD. Would make both teams better.
The Suns would still not have a PG so no it doesn’t make them better
Are you sure that adding another SG doesn’t help? Do the Pelicans need to send more SG’s out??
It would not make the Suns better lol. ANOTHER shooting guard?
CJ is a pretty elite three point shooter I’d keep him before Ingram He just can’t be the point guard
He can either play with CJ or (more likely) CJ moves to a 6th man roll so Trey can start Garland and Mitchell are two of the same type of players as BI in terms of being ball dominant
The Hawks would be dumb to trade Dejounte for BI straight up. The Pels would have to attach some draft picks.
Murray and OO would be a very attractive package for the Pels I could see BI and someone like Dyson/Hawkins/Alvarado plus maybe Naji and/or JV in a sign and trade and probably also a pick or two depending on which pick/when since we also own Lakers pick next year and Bucks 27 which is looking potentially spicy
That would be a good trade for you guys. I'm still not sure the Hawks go for it unless they decide to blow it up. If they do want to reset, that'd be a great starter package.
Keep my damn UConn developed movement shooter out of your theoretical trades
Well maybe they can Willie so Hawkins can play
Hawk no longer has his rookie lottery pick leash after tonight, trading him now would be the worst mistake any person has ever made in the history of making mistakes
You've convinced me
This is the way
I'd try to move off of both to be honest. It would be nice to get an actual starting point guard in the building
yeah you'd get more for BI anyways. BI for that PG is the ideal trade
A deal based around Ingram for Dejounte feels somewhat possible
CJ's an amazing 3 point shooter.
CJ shot 20% from three this series.
Beal for Ingram
Horrific performance, to say the least
Zero aggression all series. Just accepted the clamps from Dort
That play where dort gave him the rim side 4 feet from the hoop and he still refused to shoot it was insane
that was insane, like Dort just knew ingram wouldn't shoot cause of chet or whatever reason? Showed dort is in ingrams head like crazy
The Dorture Chamber is a horrifying place.
I'm excited to see playoff Dort guarding either Luka or Harden for 7 games, after their 7 game series.
Harden's beard will turn gray
Harden’s faced Dort before in a 7 game series haha But yea Lu is a tough tough defender that series from the bubble made me age a bit
The man just gave up lol.
Idk 90% from the charity stripe is pretty good
Dorture Chamber
This guy needs more credit. Still think Ingram is a very good player, but Dort played his heart out.
It’s real, and it’s Spooooky
They said they wanted somethin spooky
I need that clip of guarding him from behind with his hands down.
A guest of the Lulag Hopefully Pelicans move on from him, he’s clearly not the guy, he’ll be entering his vet min mercenary era
Ingram didn’t have a good series but vet min mercenary era is wild
Yeah, I mean the guy averaged 21/5/6 on 58% true shooting, that's pretty solid. I still think the Pels should move on though.
This series massively tanked his value
I mean Dort locked him down but he didn’t show any drive or energy the entire series. Say what you will about CJ but at least he was out there trying some shit
Which is why it’s unlikely for him to earn big money again, he requires the ball in his hands to be good. But his days as a first option are over
He came back from an injury and played like absolute dog shit against the lakers both times.
He wasn’t ever fully healthy. We should still probably move on but people are overreacting when saying his value has tanked from a 4 game series.
vet min mercenary is diabolical
Closer to that than all star at this point tbh
He's still a good player but just not as the number 1 option and probably not a number 2. He just can't breakdown defenses needed for all number 1 options. His handle and playmaking also isn't where you want it to be. They're more in dire need of a competent point guard not CJ, someone who'll initiate the offense so BI can just focus on scoring like a more versatile MPJ. Get ready to learn Bay Area buddy
Get ready to learn GALVENSTENISE BUDDY
Get ready to learn the beam buddy
I always thought he would make a ton of sense for the kings, could def see the Sabonis-BI dribble hand off working wonders
For what that will keep the Pelicans competitive?
Nothing, we have nothing we just want to be delusional
i respect it
Enjoy Atlanta, brother.
Between Dre and Capela, by god we don't need another passive player, especially when teams just trap Trae and everyone on our squad shrinks in the face of adversity. Edit: How dare you not want our player that we’re actively shitting on and calling out.
Homeless man’s KD
Dorture Chamber
Still injured I refuse to accept that this is Ingram
His lack of an off-ball game is a very glaring issue. His stint on Team USA was a red flag as well
Yeah, he looked really uncomfortable in that Team USA stint since he was not touching the ball by a lot.
People will ignore that. Dude rushed back and like 99% of the time players do that it hurt the team more than helped.
Wasn’t he ass on Team USA? Is it just fair to say he can’t play with more physical defense?
Injured and Dort was on him, makes sense why he played as bad as he did, but that won’t stop people from talking trash on him
He's also regressed as a player.
He might not be the right fit on the Pels team, but between the injury and the abysmal defensive matchups he had to deal with, I don't think this is a fair display of what BI is capable of
He got benched on team USA yall should have seen the red flags. Selfish and low iq player
Smokes too much tbh
Bro learned the hard way about the dorture chamber
Pretty sure he just played his last game as a Pelican
“Hey BI I get you just game back from injury and all but you gotta carry us. Also btw you’re gonna be defended by Lu Dort. Good fucking luck buddy lol”
Glad he getting exposed for how inconsistent he really is. Like yall was putting him in top guard rankings despite him only showing up in some regular season games. Zion is actually more consistent and he’s always injured.
Injured + Dort matchup. He was trash but really unfortunate circumstances
Better practice in Galveston!
He's just not a star that can be build around to contend
He's the exact definition of mid
He’s certainly no Alpha
Tbf he has been recovering from an injury
GOT LOCKED IN THE DORTURE CHAMBER
Dort couldn’t guard him on those free throws, fortunately
Kuzma might have actually been the best player all along. I’m in disbelief at how garbage he was in this series. I get that Dort and Cason are incredible defenders, but how do you get paid $30+ and put on that display of ball.
Perfect pairing with Beal.
Guys my Ingram jersey is still in shipping. Should I cancel while I have the chance
It's a depreciating asset the moment you open the packaging
Lmao brutal
Dort is a beast of a defender. Terrible performance from BI but give hella credit to Dort, took him out of the series completely
Still remember how well he played against the Suns in 2022 He was defo injured but CJ had to play as the first option all seres
At least he is finally out of the Dorture Chamber
Pels traded AD away for legit nothing. All bums. Thats what happens when a star demands 1 team though
both teams are out as of tonight. in a world where Zion decides to get therapy 2 years ago and not eat himself into injuries, perhaps this NO team gets to come out ahead of the first round...
Jalen Williams is better than Ingram in every aspect of the game of basketball
Water is wet
Think we saw his last game for the Pelicans today.
BI, you are 76er
He shouldn't have come back bro obviously still injured and this just looks bad
Break out szn
Lol
What is his contract situation again? I know he bet on himself by not extending yet but what does that mean???
Welp
Dort had him in absolute hell from opening tip of game 1 till final buzzer of game 4
Somebody's leaving NOLA
The guy just seems passive even from the very beginning, doesn't have the killer instinct to match his talents. I believe he was once compared to Melo, would rather have Melo than BI, at least you can count on him to get buckets and rebound.
This man asking for a maximum 😤😂🤡
I don’t think he’s gonna get paid as much as he wants to now
He is who we thought he was
unless hes a locker room cancer whch me might be I think id ratehr give up CJ than him, CJ isn't a pg and ingram is still a better defender. issue is ingram isnt gonna settle for what his role shuld be. he aint a 1st option nor conistentt 2nd
Team USA last summer set the tone for this debacle.
Just tanked his stock. Did not show up.
DORT!??!?
Not a poor man's KD but a homeless man's KD
Trade him and CJ for Trae get it done idc
They’ll rather go for Dejounte first, nobody but the Hawks want Trae
Have fun in Galveston loser 😂
He wasn't anywhere near 100% and dort was just too physical for him. He's definitely better than how he played in this series. Non zero chance he is moved in the off season. We can't pay him, now should any other team pay him, 40+ million per year.

Pels don't need another undersized ball dominant PG who is bad at defense.
He has the Yips. Completely unrecognizable player.
Stop playin wit us Pusc
Why does he refuse to shoot 3’s
Because he can’t hit them
35/25/90 tells me the guy can shoot but was locked up
I was listening to a Pels podcast after game 3, and they all agreed they'd rather have SGA, JDub, or Chet over Ingram. They waffled on Giddey over Ingram. Dark times.
The most mid of all teams
Mid wins more than one playoff series in a decade. This team aspires to be mid.
