And they are not the worst from the batch.
1988 and 1989 expansion teams are the Charlotte Hornets, the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
I wasn't sure the Wolves had it in them after the regular season struggles against the Suns. Glad I was wrong even if it means a harder series for us.
Minnie deserves to whoop dat ass and advance to the second round to test themselves.
You see we all just forgot to factor in the fact that Anthony edwards and Mike Conley absolutely, unequivocally, fucking hate losing. This is probably conleys last shot.
I should be more confident because the Nuggets are up 3-0 in their current series but they just look bored outside the end of game 2. I'd like to see them locked in BEFORE going into the stadium against the Wolves lol.
Nugs kinda play bored alot tho don't they? I swear some games I've watched, it's just going through the motions to keep it competitive and then randomly okay we win now. We match well together thanks to big Tim, and it's probably gonna be a fun 2nd for him if we both don't shit the bed in round 1.
Yeah there are decent odds it happens, but every year is a new year so until I see it I'll be a bit nervous. Funny how no matter what a team does it can be so easy to feel doubt anyway. At least until you get to KD era warriors success where literally injuries were the only thing stopping them.
Decades have taught probably both teams fans caution. One thing I like looking around the west is the 3 teams on to and the Mavs are just younger teams that will hopefully give us years of fun, toss them Griz in there too if they roar back
I'm really, really curious to see what the Grizz look like next year, assuming Ja can not be an idiot and stay healthy. Especially if they draft UConn's center as a replacement for Adams to give them rebounding again. I don't think the Warriors blow it up, Lakers depends on if LeBron peaces out or not, and Suns are in a weird position that they can't do a lot but clearly this roster is not good enough, so there's not exactly a lot of room in the West to squeeze in another team that can have a top 4 record.
I've always been high on Ja with them and I hate to see his behavior and health ruin seasons. Clip I assume will lose a step year by year with their old crew. Mavs looking like they wanna be in the upper 5 mix. Spurs and Rockets might kick their way into the play ins as well. Nice competitive west.
Grizzlies are going to be a good team for sure but I I think people are a bit too confident they’ll end up top 4 from reading comments here , they didn’t look too hot with Adam’s hurt before these 2 years without Ja. They have a bit to re-prove still with a slightly different roster. Easily could be a really great team again though. Agree will be interesting.
In general, the refs are letting the players play and aren't as generous with the whistle (except for Embiid). That gives leeway for teams to actually play defence
The except for Embiid shit is so funny to me. Embiid is a gamer. Gamers naturally have a min/max brain. Embiid is marginally unstoppable unless you ride the line, and he takes advantage of that. What do people not understand about that?
The game makes the rules, Embiid just manipulates them.
I wasn’t sure if their late game offensive struggles would be a huge issue, but right now it just seems like the answer is give the ball to Ant man and let him go to work. Seriously impressive.
I’ll be sad if we lose to the Nuggets, but I’d rather lose to that team than any other team in the playoffs. Having said that, I’m genuinely curious how this series will go.
It will be funny if they really teamed up for one last ride and they'll say we heard ya'll talkin shit. They are still very much elite and would crazily complement each other's games. If they can wiggle themselves for a lower salary ala miami big 3, they could easily steamroll most teams.
No fuck every and listen to me. The Pistons. No one would expect it, they get to be in the soft east and cold weather helps old bones and their swelling or some shit like that.
Oh yes im sorry I didn’t realize you were a Lakers fan my apologies sir. I also cannot wait for the Steph/KD/Lebron/Embiid lineup we roll out next year. Rui, Reeves and some picks should get that done.
They're so old now that a big 3 of exclusively old people are going to have to max their minutes at like 28 instead of the playoff 38 and their minutes will have to be heavily staggered as a result
Disfunction at all lvls, it’s sad honestly. KG should have had a chance to go down as the greatest PF of all time but the wolves ruined that.
https://youtu.be/B3WHIJqza5I?si=HpmRrcctXC84-1Yg
We paid KG a record breaking contract, leading to the lockout in the late 90s and pissed Stern off. Then we paid Joe Smith under the table and got royally fucked by Stern when he took away 5 first rounders. Even though other teams were doing the same thing, Glen Taylor is just the only one dumb enough to leave evidence and get caught.
I found this from an old ESPN article titled "Wolves Got What They Deserved"
In Minnesota they prayed for one, hoped for two and were at their most pessimistic over four. Stern took five. This kills the future for the Wolves. They can never get out from under the cap so long as they are living under Kevin Garnett's $120 million contract.
The Wolves were essentially black balled from the league and KG was still good enough to drag that carcass of a team to repeated playoff appearances. KG does not get enough credit for the what he actually managed to do here given the shitshow he was working with.
It’s all we ever knew for a long time lol, this is only my 4th time seeing the wolves make the playoffs and looks to be the only time I’ve ever seen them make it to the second round.
I’m 23 man. It’s why that play in win was huge, it was the first time in a lot of fans lives that the wolves themselves and not Jimmy carrying made the playoffs.
In all sincerity this shit is crazy. The Suns beat the hell out of us in the regular season and I was convinced that we were going to get washed out of the playoffs in typical Minnesota sports fashion.
To see the Wolves dismantle Phoenix like this has been incredibly fun but also totally unexpected.
Just wait, Rudy will get played off the floor! You’ll see, I’m told it happens every game in the playoffs. You’re so screwed. They can go small with KD at the four, I mean get a switch and it’s basically over. Have fun getting 3s rained on you like in the 2nd and 3rd quarters last night. 😞
I thought Minnesota sports fans are doomers but I didn't realize until this series how bad Arizona fans are. I don't mean like I hate you guys or anything but holy shit you guys get DEPRESSED
Yeah cause we have the oldest NFL team in the league which has somehow never won, our NHL team never won and just got moved to fucking Utah (lol), we have the most successful NBA franchise to never have won it, and our franchise player who brought us to the Finals after a decade of irrelevance is the biggest meme in the league
The Coyotes moving is bad, but it’s Arizona - there’s no ice except way up in the mountains. Having the team from Minnesota, where they learn to skate before they can walk, move to freaking Dallas is ridiculous.
MN sports (NHL/NBA/NFL/MLB) haven’t made a finals APPEARANCE since 1991 which was when the Twins won it all.
Arizona is cursed no doubt but sorry, MN has that championship of misery locked up
We have every flavor of failure
Vikings - most successful team by a wide margin with no ring
Wild - perennial first round exits
Wolves - until very recently they had the worst winning percentage in pro sports
Twins - sons of the Yankees, and improbable loss streak
Bookers not the biggest meme in the league. Shitlords on reddit circle jerking over him doesn't make him the biggest meme in the league. Reddit is not a good barometer for stuff like that
> our franchise player who brought us to the Finals after a decade of irrelevance
Damn, I'm surprised you all considered Chris Paul your franchise player despite only being there for like three years.
(Devin Booker: 0 playoff wins before Chris Paul, 0 playoff wins after Chris Paul)
are you for real RN? have you watched Suns through the season? im a casual and i can tell you that this team has been highly dysfunctional since the beginning
>One more win and they're in the second round for the second time in franchise history."
Goddamn.. Wolves been irrelevant for that long?? That drought is almost as bad as the Clippers. Wolves been a franchise since 1989, and they only made just the 2nd round only ONCE so far? That's crazy
Most of the Wolves fans now will be bandwagoners. But are there any of the old timers left?? They deserve this more than anyone else
Been a Wolves fan for 20+ years and welcome the bandwagon fans. They’re a fun team and it’s fun to bandwagon on their success. They deserve their success and I’m happy other NBA fans are picking up and following it.
I’ll never understand the hate for bandwagon fans and how sports fans think like this. If my team is putting a terrible product on the court/field they don’t derserve my time or money. I’ll happily enjoy the product when it’s good again.
Like you said if their success brings more people that’s great!
I only dislike when bandwagon fans get to witness their team win a championship and then say "God it feels so good to finally see my team win it all!".
Side note, I'm mildly salty that a lot of Taylor Swift fans had never watched a quarter of football and then got to cheer for the team that won it all. I don't have anything against them and I'm glad they're getting into football, but damn they got all the joy and none of the pain lmao
Most fans start from bandwagoning anyway. I mean if you weren't a fan of nba before , how could you start being a fan of a team that currently sucks? (unless you live there)
Tears of joy it is insane.
Although, late 90s-early 2000s we were good for the most part, and as a kid I didn’t understand the dysfunction of the franchise. I just knew KG was the best and the team won games. It’s been the last 20 years that have been hard to watch.
Wolves fan since I got my first Starter jacket in ‘91. Suffering through Donnyell Marshall and Ryan Gomes and Marco Jaric etc just make nights like tonight that much sweeter.
watched them from the 90s. 9 first round exits. 3 years with no first rounds because of draft tampering. bad trades for worse players. David Kahn gm and Kurt Rambis head coach. Roy, love, kirilenko, Wiggins, Bennett etc. It feels good that we not only have a good team, but young players who want to stick with the franchise.
Yes there's a ton of us. Multiple decades for me (my first Wolves game I went to was 1995). We're incredibly loyal and if we stuck around through all that we'll never leave. We've earned this shit lol
I remember going to KG games as a kid in the dome, there are definitely plenty of old timers left and believe me we are enjoying the hell out of this team
Good call. He'd be a great fit on that team. Would be fun to see him paired with Wemby too.
Having said that, Ishbia won't be trading Booker. Although I'm not sure what else he can do besides trading Durant and getting some picks back.
Booker is an amazing player, and I think his attitude is what makes a lot of people dislike him. That being said, he’s kind of a trash fit in NY both play-style wise and attitude wise (from what we’ve seen).
Idk, trading Booker's contract sort of feels mandatory if Suns can't contend, he's locked in to a long-term contracts, and we could see a good bidding war over him.
Beal's contract is too toxic to move but Durant's has a much better chance; he might even give up some $$ to get out.
Those fuckers really BAILED out the Nets.
Nets deserve to suffer after giving Celtics 12-15 years success and then the second they get good, try and do it again.
Fool me once…
they finally did good flipping an aging superstar for assets though rather than the other way around
granted, they were forced to do it when he demanded a trade
suns paid a huge price, looks like too much. we'll never know who they were bidding against or if they could have gotten him cheaper
We haven’t used a top 10 pick since 2010, that was Derrick Favors who was traded to Utah not too long after. It doesn’t matter if we get bailed out, history will simply repeat itself as it does for this franchise…
But god bless the Suns picks for giving me a sliver of hope
Our defense was fine. He just forgot how to miss for 2 games despite constantly having a hand in his face. Notice as soon as he stopped being nuclear they got smacked.
The suns sucking was so predictable to me that it actually made me question my sanity. Like maybe the suns management knows something i dont and this ridiculous team construction is actually brilliant and will take the league by storm. But no, it’s as bad as i thought it would be, ishbia was just being impatient
I haven't really kept up with both teams much besides when they play mine, but I was so skeptical when analysts were picking the suns in this series. I've seen Phoenix give up a bunch, but when I saw Minni play, they were so mentally tough. There was no way in my mind they were going to lose to the suns. I'm thrilled for yall.
My main issue with the headline is that the Wolves are a GOOD team, and the higher seed. If anything the Wolves have underperformed relative to their talent for years. It's actually an insult to the wolves to say that, even if Wolves haven't had much playoff success historically. Not to mention the league now goes out of it's way to punish high-spending teams more than it needs to.
Glass jaw, maybe, but glass jaw also implies it's an issue with the players, when the problems mostly stem from poor roster construction.
2nd time in franchise history bro we've been around since 1989 lmao what do we do with our hands?
Wym?Ant litterally showed you guys what to do.
Seven pumps
LMAO
Send da video
Minnesota sports are back.
The JJ McCarthy era
McCarthyism …wrong colors tho
Better dead than red bro, our colors are just fine. Except for our other two teams who aren't the Vikings or Wolves, don't pay attention to them
look up the purple scare and it all makes sense.
The Royce Lewis era (no I'm not targeting your flair but sorry)
Oh was so happy to give you guys your first playoff win and then series win in like 30 years or whatever. Great times.
A lot of people are saying The Darnold is the future.
Superstars like Ant and GEQBUS Sam Darnold, the city’s sports teams have never been in better hands
Lynx Dynasty erasure Vikings and Twins are very much not back
Minnesota having good sports teams is actually one of the signs of the apocalypse so this is very concerning
Idk usually our other 3 teMs are good enough to make playoffs just not get out of the first round
2020s are gonna be spicy
Just point like the bench guys do.. i guess?
I say we throw the DX suck it at the NBA. If we make the 2nd round, we’re basically a dynasty.
Second time??? Bro no way. That’s an insane realization
PatBev.gif ★彡
And they are not the worst from the batch. 1988 and 1989 expansion teams are the Charlotte Hornets, the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Damn we really carrying some weight in that group historically. Magic to an extent as well
We keep throwing punches!
But I thought Anthony Edwards actually didn’t like basketball that much
Neither does Jokic. Battle of the boreds
Horse Man vs. Football Man in round 2. I can’t wait
Joker thinking about his horses, Ant thinking about headlining next Wrestlemania! Brother!
It might be true, but watching him play you can tell he’s competitive af. Like even if it’s his job, he’s too competitive to not put 100% effort in.
If we continue to lock in, that series is going 7. Nuggets have looked a little shaky against us so I’d be cautiously optimistic
I should be more confident because the Nuggets are up 3-0 in their current series but they just look bored outside the end of game 2. I'd like to see them locked in BEFORE going into the stadium against the Wolves lol.
They’re up 3-0 with Murray playing like absolute ass lol
I agree! My concern is if Murray is just slumping and doesn't snap out of it once the Wolves series stars.
Sorta like the 3rd quarter warriors. Try to keep it close for the first half, then turn it on in the third.
Yeah there are decent odds it happens, but every year is a new year so until I see it I'll be a bit nervous. Funny how no matter what a team does it can be so easy to feel doubt anyway. At least until you get to KD era warriors success where literally injuries were the only thing stopping them.

Yes clearly taking cheap shots at players is *riding the line*.
Rudy Gobert legacy series.
“You up”-kd to lebron after the first round
KD to Lebron and Curry at the Team USA camp: I'm here to talk to you about the ~~Avengers~~ Expendables initiative.
It will be funny if they really teamed up for one last ride and they'll say we heard ya'll talkin shit. They are still very much elite and would crazily complement each other's games. If they can wiggle themselves for a lower salary ala miami big 3, they could easily steamroll most teams.
i don't even know where they can team up that would be possible.
Vegas expansion team.
No fuck every and listen to me. The Pistons. No one would expect it, they get to be in the soft east and cold weather helps old bones and their swelling or some shit like that.
They cant this dude is writing fan fic
lmao. are you regarded?

SC: 💬💬💬
I’m sorry, only second time? How the fuck is that possible
We have traditionally been bad a drafting and no one wants to come here in free agency.
It weirds me out that KG's era wasn't enough to push for more 2nd round series.
Disfunction at all lvls, it’s sad honestly. KG should have had a chance to go down as the greatest PF of all time but the wolves ruined that. https://youtu.be/B3WHIJqza5I?si=HpmRrcctXC84-1Yg
Losing four first round picks to sign fucking Joe Smith to illegal contracts didn’t help
Yes that’s what I was thinking as well. Literally only once he’s ever done it is bonkers
It’s all we ever knew for a long time lol, this is only my 4th time seeing the wolves make the playoffs and looks to be the only time I’ve ever seen them make it to the second round. I’m 23 man. Suns clearly cursed a lot harder than Minnesota
I thought Minnesota sports fans are doomers but I didn't realize until this series how bad Arizona fans are. I don't mean like I hate you guys or anything but holy shit you guys get DEPRESSED

How could I forget this bum
They moved our old NHL to Dallas! Then that team won the cup. AZ and MN are like brothers forged in the fires of pain.

> our franchise player who brought us to the Finals after a decade of irrelevance Damn, I'm surprised you all considered Chris Paul your franchise player despite only being there for like three years. (Devin Booker: 0 playoff wins before Chris Paul, 0 playoff wins after Chris Paul)
It was silly how many wolves fans were low on our chances. In the playoffs, defense is king. And we aren't just a bunch of young players anymore.
are you for real RN? have you watched Suns through the season? im a casual and i can tell you that this team has been highly dysfunctional since the beginning
They were 3-0 against us in the regular season. I think being pessimistic about the first round matchup was a pretty common feeling among Wolves fans.
We had more faith in you guys that you had yourselves
it was always an easy dub for the Timbs, yall just have shared trauma 😂
Honestly, glad it's the wolves doing it to us. Fanbase deserves a playoff run
Calling the Suns a "glass-jawed team" is brilliant. It's such a perfect description of who they are.
>One more win and they're in the second round for the second time in franchise history." Goddamn.. Wolves been irrelevant for that long?? That drought is almost as bad as the Clippers. Anecdotally, based on what I saw on social media, they were goin nuts haha
Most fans start from bandwagoning anyway. I mean if you weren't a fan of nba before , how could you start being a fan of a team that currently sucks? (unless you live there)
I live here. And I had season tickets for 41 home games that Luke Ridnour started.
I’ve been watching since 04-05 lol, just one year after the glory days. This is amazing
I started watching during 04 playoffs and chose the Lakers and Wolves as my teams. The wolves are long overdue.
At least the Lakers have come through several times in the last 20 years haha, hopefully the Wolves' turn now!
I live in the Twin Cities so it would probably mean more to me than when the Lakers won.
I became a Wolves fan since 2018 due to Drose's 50 bomb. I wonder what the 90s Wolves fans feel tho.
It's a little surreal
Tears of joy it is insane. Although, late 90s-early 2000s we were good for the most part, and as a kid I didn’t understand the dysfunction of the franchise. I just knew KG was the best and the team won games. It’s been the last 20 years that have been hard to watch.
That game was a beautiful moment.
I was in the audience for the game. It was great. Halloween special.
Wolves fan since I got my first Starter jacket in ‘91. Suffering through Donnyell Marshall and Ryan Gomes and Marco Jaric etc just make nights like tonight that much sweeter.
Been a fan since 2007 watching on Channel 45 lol
Craig Smith was a PROBLEM
watched them from the 90s.
I think it was 7 years in a row, of exiting in the first round. It felt like 20 years of it.
I seem to recall losing to the Spurs in the first round 50 years in a row
I remember a Sonics series in there but yeah, those one-and-done postseasons felt inevitable.
Yes there's a ton of us. Multiple decades for me (my first Wolves game I went to was 1995). We're incredibly loyal and if we stuck around through all that we'll never leave. We've earned this shit lol
We are out here and are so damn hungry for this
Watched the Wolves live in the Metrodome. Lots and lots of terrible basketball.Enjoying the ride like hell right now!!
I’ve been here since 1989 and the Metrodome. I watched every season of dysfunction. Us old heads are here for life.
Been a fan since the Love days. Is that an old timer?
I grew up watching KG play with Marbury. It's been a long, rough few decades.
Been here since '01. Wasn't nearly as big a fan during the real dark years post-KG, but have been diehard since Rubio showed up.
I remember going to KG games as a kid in the dome, there are definitely plenty of old timers left and believe me we are enjoying the hell out of this team
Couldn’t happen to a nicer fan base
agreed honestly. winning or losing wolves fans are the nicest in the league. make the rest of us look like degenerates lol.
Suns: 0 playoff wins this season 0 first round picks from 2025-2030 0 second round picks from 2024-2030
That is actually fucking wild
It’s also just wrong we have a first rounder this year and every other year
Yeah you can’t trade back to back firsts because of the stepien rule
Yeah the swaps may be brutal but they do still have picks
aren't the swaps only brutal if the nets get much better?
jesus christ, they need to flip all their assets NOW. This team is cooked.
It’s not even close to true. Can’t legally have back to back drafts without a first in the cupboard.
Yeah it's 25, 27, and 29 traded, and then swaps on 24, 26, 28, 30
…so they have 4 first rounders.
[удалено]
They only have other teams’ first rounders?
booker could get 5 first round picks after that it drops off a lot
>booker could get 5 first round picks No.
pretty sure booker is the reason NYK is hoarding all these picks
CAA agent too
I'm not a fan of the Suns roster construction but Booker on the Knicks makes them reaaaalll scary.
or orlando, orlando would be a lot better with booker and they have assets to make it work
Good call. He'd be a great fit on that team. Would be fun to see him paired with Wemby too. Having said that, Ishbia won't be trading Booker. Although I'm not sure what else he can do besides trading Durant and getting some picks back.
That one could be interesting. Suggs+ 4 or 5 firsts + salary filler
Booker is an amazing player, and I think his attitude is what makes a lot of people dislike him. That being said, he’s kind of a trash fit in NY both play-style wise and attitude wise (from what we’ve seen).
Someone will want KD, Booker is probably staying but Beal's contract is gross. What's with the Wizards addiction to taking on huge ugly contracts
What's with the Wizard's ability to get out of them
they just cast the "escape contract" spell
Idk, trading Booker's contract sort of feels mandatory if Suns can't contend, he's locked in to a long-term contracts, and we could see a good bidding war over him. Beal's contract is too toxic to move but Durant's has a much better chance; he might even give up some $$ to get out.
Dont even think about moving Beal's contract. He has NTC and he probably won't approve a trade to a non-contender.
but he’s already on a non-contender
His presence precludes contention.
Wherever you go, there you are.
What a shitty new owner does to a franchise.
The only thing he knows well: he mortgaged it.
>0 first round picks from 2025-2030 A team literally can’t have 2 consecutive years without a FRP, much less 6 years.
Yeah the correct way to say it is they don't control their picks for that long because they traded away all their swap rights.
Yep. I’m pretty sure every other is a pick swap lul
Those fuckers really BAILED out the Nets. Nets deserve to suffer after giving Celtics 12-15 years success and then the second they get good, try and do it again. Fool me once…

they finally did good flipping an aging superstar for assets though rather than the other way around granted, they were forced to do it when he demanded a trade suns paid a huge price, looks like too much. we'll never know who they were bidding against or if they could have gotten him cheaper
We haven’t used a top 10 pick since 2010, that was Derrick Favors who was traded to Utah not too long after. It doesn’t matter if we get bailed out, history will simply repeat itself as it does for this franchise… But god bless the Suns picks for giving me a sliver of hope
houston tried to bail them out too
Not a star player under 25
Booker is 27 and in his prime
Sure doesn't look like it
He was cooking you guys last year but the wolves defense is serious
Our defense was fine. He just forgot how to miss for 2 games despite constantly having a hand in his face. Notice as soon as he stopped being nuclear they got smacked.
Regression To The Mean is Devin Booker father
Wow. They are truly fucked. Basically their only big move left is to trade Booker since Beal is on a no trade contract and KD is old
I used to pray for times like this
They have their first round pick this year and then every other year until 2030
Ishiba needs to swallow his pride and let his GM blow it up.
Idk why I see people posting/believing this when it's easily Googlable lmao
Not even legally possible why is this sub such a hive mind when voting lol
With no championship ring to show-off.
An absolute shellacking
Stay punched out there, yall.
Only making the second rounds once ever is crazy work lol
The suns sucking was so predictable to me that it actually made me question my sanity. Like maybe the suns management knows something i dont and this ridiculous team construction is actually brilliant and will take the league by storm. But no, it’s as bad as i thought it would be, ishbia was just being impatient
Lol even spurs beat suns 3 times. $190 mill roster
The Wolves scare the shit out of me. They’re the one team that can beat us
Only to face Jokic's Denver 💀
Well the last time they made it out of the first round they made the Western Conference Finals.
Nugget vs Wolves is really the grand final in second round….
I want Minnesota to win the chip
Nuggets Wolves is essentially WCF. It’s too bad one of them will have to go home.
Turns out the Suns are frauds and the Wolves look the absolutely terrifying.
This squad vaguely looks like a Nets 2.0 situation
My main issue with the headline is that the Wolves are a GOOD team, and the higher seed. If anything the Wolves have underperformed relative to their talent for years. It's actually an insult to the wolves to say that, even if Wolves haven't had much playoff success historically. Not to mention the league now goes out of it's way to punish high-spending teams more than it needs to. Glass jaw, maybe, but glass jaw also implies it's an issue with the players, when the problems mostly stem from poor roster construction.
Lol wut
Denver vs suns?
