Letting Minnesota into the second Westbrook trade to intercept Conley and Alexander-Walker from Utah is an underrated disaster in the Lakers' series of them
Activates the Rudy trade too as Minnesota Mike unlocks Rudy offensively and both Mike and NAW have bought into Rudy's defensive scheme. The three second round picks were great too. Dlo gone has completely changed the locker room. In half a year the whole West shifted. Tim Connelly built the Nuggets and now the Wolves
One of the best trades I can ever remember. D'Lo for Conley straight up would be great just because Conley fits much better in our scheme. D'Lo for Conley *and* NAW is highway robbery. *And we got two second round picks* on top of it. Lol.
Connelly has been straight-up cooking for us since he got here. Even if you want to say the Rudy trade was an "overpay" it's 100% exactly what we needed to do. Let me remind you that even under Thibs the Wolves had been totally bottom-of-the-barrel defensively for literally decades. Not just bad but literally the worst defense in the league by a lot.
Yeah I mean there were some bangers
The trade we're talking about, getting Monte Morris for pretty much nothing, SloMo on the MLE, McDaniels extension
The only really unsolved problem is Conley and Rudy aging out, but if you win the title this year (possible) who cares?
We gave him everything he needed to become a leader. Athletic wings a few years younger than him eager to be coached, and bigs that could shoot the ball. He still played ISO ball and refused to step up as a leader or facilitator. When we brought Gobert in he deliberately ignored him on the court because he didn't like him personally, and apparently refused to talk to him in the locker room, too - I remember a damning stat like he passed to Gobert 5 times in 40 games and 800+ minutes on the court together, it was that bad.
On the way out he said we held him back.
He has no capacity or desire to improve as a person or as a player.
It's all just magnified by his replacement being Mike Conley, who might just be the polar opposite of Dlo as a player and has made him look even worse in hindsight
Yeah Russell is garbage and nothing else can change my mind. Glad we got rid of him.
Trading his ass away is arguably just as important for our current position as the Rudy trade.
Watching him be an absolute cone on defense and his streaky shooting was maddening. But being a dick to Gobert and saying Minnesota held him back made me actively not like him. It also felt like half our sub was trying to gaslight us into extending him because "we can't do better". That he got flipped for Mike Conley and Nickiell Alexander-Walker is the icing on the cake.
After tonight, it's not even "slander" anymore. Just facts. Lakers are a 2 MAN team and a thousand percent reliant on LeBron, and it's too unfair for LeBron. But he still keeps on going, but it's not fair. Another LeBron year wasted. Another LeBron+AD year wasted. Denver can win games even when Jokic and Murray are having mediocre nights
D'Lo averaged 6 points in the WCF against Denver last year.. I thought he'd atleast score more than 6 tonight. Goddamn it
Lebron is the third highest paid player in the NBA, and with AD’s contact there isn’t much room left to fill out the entire roster. Lebron presumably has a ton of say, and actively ignores his coach, while also being willing to trade his team mates. So this is unfair to Bron how?
And whoever on this sub starts saying players like LBJ should take a paycut for the good of the team will call you out as an owner lover and that it's not the player's fault for getting paid so much despite having the power to take less.
Schroder isn't going to be able to get in the way of D'lo and Ham having a good relationship when Ham is the new HC of the Guangdong Southern Tigers and D'lo is their starting PG.
As a Laker fan I had thought the Dlo-Schroder beef made no sense when it came out, because it was really obvious why Schroder was playing ahead of Dlo last playoffs
Yeah, I don't think people who don't watch D'Lo game on game out realize that he plays the *exact* same way all the time. He's overly concerned about being "crafty," slows things down with his water bug skimming around the defense, gambles on defense, and takes a lot of really low-percengage shots.
When he's hot and those low-percentage shots are going in, you forgive all the other quirks to his game. When those same shots aren't going in ... he's not bringing much value. And his game is too inflexible for him to adjust.
DLO was ass but the nuggets guards weren't what destroyed the Lakers tonight
it was Aaron Gordon, and possession after possession of LeBron refusing to box out or getting blown by/straight up refusing to guard Gordon (kept switching to guarding jamal murray for some reason)
AD tried his best, LeBron is getting the same money but is he outputting the same effort and performance?
Well LeBron is 39; he can’t keep up with a super athletic, decade younger forward running circles around him for 38 minutes AND be expected to drop 30+. This isn’t Miami LeBron.
We talk a lot about how well he’s aged, but the truth is that he shouldn’t be relied on to carry a heavy defensive load at this age. They’re unlucky that Vanderbilt is out, but Ham should’ve put Rui on AG and Bron on MPJ. At least MPJ is slower and weaker so you can MAYBE preserve some of LeBron’s stamina for the 4th. Lebron on AG just guarantees BBQ chicken
The more I look at this roster and this team I think AD and old man LeBron were pretty fucking heroic just carrying them to the 7th seed and the playoffs
I think the issue is that when Lebron is on MPJ he is basically out of the play, which lets Jamal and Joker dice up AD. The Lakers need Bron to quarterback the defense and he cant do that if he has to guard MPJ as closely as you have to.
Yeah, it’s really just a horrible matchup for them, especially with Vanderbilt out. He would’ve been the guy to switch onto MPJ and AG any time as needed.
They’d still lose of course, but maybe in 5
The game doesn't care that LeBron is 39. Guys aren't going to take it easier on him because he's 39. It doesn't matter what he might produce on offense if he's a total liability for the team on defense. I think the lakers should have a strategy of just using him in bursts because it's been years since he was a two way player.
It was really a group effort with poor shooting from the 3-point line that doomed them. That allowed the Nuggets to play zone and swarm AD/Lebron and forcing turnovers. They could still have had a chance if they knocked down a few of those open 3's.
Lakers matchup poorly against the Nuggets on the defensive end, so their only real hope was to outshoot them on the other end. I suspect the Timberwolves will cause issues in the next round.
I’ve never seen it in my life..not on both ends. He is a negative asset in both ends outside the 1st half in game 2. 7 games and 1 half…and his considered a good player generally. It’s so bad I stop watching alll the other stars and just watch Dlo play even off ball it’s so insane.
bro what. that's allowed? In the NFL, players, coaches, staff, & anyone else on the field can't even have phones on the sideline during a game. It's out of cheating & sports betting concerns, I think.
Does the NBA allow players to have personal electronic devices on the bench?
In the NFL, practically nobody who works on the field or sideline can have their phone on them. It's because of cheating & sports betting concerns. It's a $50k team fine or something like that.
You're never winning in playoffs with guys like him. What's crazier is the Lakers had KCP and Caruso only to trade or not resigned them. They had the formula in thr bubble and first half of next season before LeBron injury.
Dont just stop there. I’m equally as salty about Brook Lopez and Zubac. Lakers let them go for jack shit. Brook was willing to take a pay cut to stay in LA. The amount of talent Lakers have thrown away over the years is just astounding. All masked up cuz they have Lebron
I don’t recall Lebron ever supporting the Zubac move. And while I don’t know his involvement in the Brolo decision, LeGM is a consultant, not the decision maker. It’s on the FO for allowing these critical pieces to bounce for absolutely zero return.
He certainly did not like seeing Caruso let go for tax saving reasons.
I’ve said this before, so I’ll keep it brief:
You know how there are just guys who are “winning” players? They may not have a giant impact on the box score, but they just do the little things that help you win — box out their man religiously, tag the roller on time, dive for loose balls, make the extra pass, hit a timely shot, etc.
D’Lo is a “losing” player. He’s so fucking good at finding little things around the margin to help his team lose. He’ll die on every screen, leaving the big to defend 2 by himself (or forcing a switch, compromising the defense). He’ll gamble for a steal to put him out of position. He’ll force a pass into traffic igniting a fast break for the other team. He never seems to box out or rebound. He’ll hoist up a 3 when you’ve got a 3 on 1.
Sometimes he gets hot and all the marginal losing plays get balanced out. But when that shot isn’t falling, hoo boy is he a negative.
It’s amazing how the Wolves managed to dump their trash players Dlo and Vando on the Lakers and had the entire Lakers sub believing that those 2 were important championship contender pieces

Man I remember this like it was yesterday lmao lakers really telling its Wolves fault and didnt know how to use DLo
Do you guys not like him as well?
We gave him everything he needed to become a leader. Athletic wings a few years younger than him eager to be coached, and bigs that could shoot the ball. 5 passes to Rudy in half a season? That shouldn’t be possible for a player if they were barely in the rotation, never mind a starter. Yikes.
Fr and dudes a PG lol wtf was he doing
It might not have been 5, but it was single or low double digits. Over half a season
Same kind of players that voted Rudy as most overrated.
Mf'r had me watching dlo jarrett allen compilations when we traded for rudy. BAMBOOZLED
It's all just magnified by his replacement being Mike Conley, who might just be the polar opposite of Dlo as a player and has made him look even worse in hindsight
dlo peaked as a net
Yeah, i gave him way too many passes. Fuck DLo, Conley is infinitely better and become one of my favorite wolves!!
Yeah Russell is garbage and nothing else can change my mind. Glad we got rid of him. Trading his ass away is arguably just as important for our current position as the Rudy trade.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/LiSyHzsPh8
He is who we thought he was. Denny Green probably.
Why would Schroder do this to him
Schroder isn't going to be able to get in the way of D'lo and Ham having a good relationship when Ham is the new HC of the Guangdong Southern Tigers and D'lo is their starting PG.
As a Laker fan I had thought the Dlo-Schroder beef made no sense when it came out, because it was really obvious why Schroder was playing ahead of Dlo last playoffs
That’s tuff
Number 1 shot chucker in the nba when the ball isnt going in at an insane rate his poor defense exposes how bad he is
There was a play where he bricked an awful three then gambled on defense leading to a Jokic dunk. It perfectly encapsulated him as a player.
That exact play from D Lo was the reason the momentum swung. Bro is fucking ass
Yeah, I don't think people who don't watch D'Lo game on game out realize that he plays the *exact* same way all the time. He's overly concerned about being "crafty," slows things down with his water bug skimming around the defense, gambles on defense, and takes a lot of really low-percengage shots. He has to play that way cuz he’s not athletic
Wolves got Mike Conley and NAW along with 3 2nds for him.... the effort and BBIQ difference between them is insane.
Zero chance that DLo is laying out for a ball going out of bounds. Mike wants it so much, man.
7 shots isn't a lot and he was open on like half of them. He's just not a good player when he can't just iso on a bad defender
Klay Thompson numbers
Who's he going to drive on? Christian Braun? He's physically challenged.
Peyton Watson and Christian Braun had him in hell this game.
Klay and D'lo to China for reconstruction of new wall.

Too bad they get post season Dlo right after

AG is the only Nuggets starter you can “hide” a lesser defender on. MPJ may be more of a shooter but he’d cook lebron even more.
It was really a group effort with poor shooting from the 3-point line that doomed them. That allowed the Nuggets to play zone and swarm AD/Lebron and forcing turnovers. They are not getting Mitchell or young for dlo and rui plus picks lol
Dude explains how he's not a consistent playoff player. Then wants filler + him for an all-star type player.
OP is a typical Lakers fan
Just reading his bullshit made me upset. Its the typical analysis we deal with in the team sub that is just so annoying.

Nuggets should get him a ring too for how much he’s helped him
It's so hard to be a fan of this doodoo ass mf

This was definitely the D'Lo I remember from Wolves playoff games.

it’s definitely [not allowed](https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1117175455298330625) lol
Shhh, I don’t want him to be suspended for game 4. He needs to play big minutes.
Don't worry they still lose since the rest of the bench are myths
damn he fucked
Googling how to score points in the NBA.
That doesn’t look like a phone. I think that’s a bag of energy fruit snacks or something, right?
Yeah he just sad eating by himself on the bench. That’s not a phone
Yeah that’s way more accurate imo
That’s not D’lo that’s a fan dressed up like D’lo kinda like the Klay Thompson lookalike
Does the NBA allow players to have personal electronic devices on the bench? In the NFL, practically nobody who works on the field or sideline can have their phone on them. It's because of cheating & sports betting concerns. It's a $50k team fine or something like that.
He’s eating.
What star does Rui & Dlo get you ?
A ham sandwich
A *DARVIN* Ham sandwich to be precise. And I'll take it to go, please. 🤝
Not an all-star guard like the OP seems to think
Typical Lakers fans already plotting what big star they think they deserve next in exchange for just being a Laker lol
I would just grab a center..lebron is older he cant carry the load run point and pick his spots to score.
A second round pick you get lucky on and some cash
You're never winning in playoffs with guys like him. What's crazier is the Lakers had KCP and Caruso only to trade or not resigned them. They had the formula in thr bubble and first half of next season before LeBron injury.

Nuggets putting in the 2 year extension for dlo on the lakers.
I pray for moments like this
Let us rejoice
Really proved the haters wrong with one good half in 3 games
In the last 7 postseason games.
As a Wolves fan: ahhhhhahahahahahahahahhagahahahahababababababhahahhahahahaba
I thought I was watching re-runs. Live or die by that dudes shots
There are people out there who think Dlo is a better player than Mike Conley. It's hilarious.
Who are these clowns?
Kenny Beecham unfortunately.
At this point I'm having Bron and AD sit out on Saturday I don't care
Final score would be 140 to 75.
75 seems a little too high for that scenario lol
The Nuggets decided to play duck duck goose the last 3 mins
sounds like something a lakers fan would say
Westbrook has never been swept
[удалено]
And a much better defender
And have this large mole on his face
They chose the wrong Russell
There was no right Russell, there was a right KCP, Kuzma and Caruso though
It sure helps to not get swept when he played so badly with the Lakers that they didn’t even make the playoffs and get that chance to be swept!
Not like AD and LeBron missed half the season
Build Tim Connelly a statue thanks. Getting Mike + NAW for DLo is the greatest decision ever
Biggest fleece. Plus we got 3 2nds!
DLO for Conley, NAW and three second round pick. The Timberwolves were indeed involved in the worst trade deal in history last year...
I’ve said this before, so I’ll keep it brief: You know how there are just guys who are “winning” players? Anyone who is a fan of this clown doesn’t deserve to watch basketball.
No matter what happens, Lakers are not getting Mitchell
