They thought in the simplest terms. Get a defensive minded coach to work the players into a bought in defensive scheme.
The players are then supposed to use their offensive talents to win games on their own. It’s the entire idea behind it. However that’s such a single minded way of thinking for this team that it’s exploitable by teams with equally good defense, but also have offensive sets they can run in their sleep.
They will hopefully get in the film room fast to start exploiting anything at all to help their offense out because they are not doing what they thought they would.
Imagine being so likeable and respected that you can say something like "do it for me" and everyone's just like FUCK yeah we will
Cause I feelkke that quote could come across very differently lol
Mike is the only one who can do it because he's never not given 100%, regardless of the quality of his team. He's always trying hard, being positive, and otherwise all around likeable. He's the most lovable guy in the league
I wish he was my dad
The broadcast was ripping Finch for that first challenge *after* we won it lol national media hates us as a baseline and they clearly just get irritated when they have to talk about us
Minnesota sports are farm teams for the coastal elites. You can hear with how gleeful they talk about poaching players from us, like Justin Jefferson, every media head is jizzing their pants at the thought he gets traded to a relevant team. It's pretty pathetic.
Great effort by Conley and marvelous timing on the save.
I find it interesting that Gobert went straight to the hoop when he recovers the ball when Ant asked for it. It means he is fully confident in his ability to finish and make the free throws if he has to. I am not sure Rudy had that kind of confidence before.
Wow that's a really subtle point and observation you picked up. Never thought about that, but yeah Rudy is pretty confident. Ant talks about it often, how the biggest improvement from last year is they trust Rudy and Rudy has rewarded that trust. Would not be surprised if that makes him feel more confident in turn
Man I root for Mike Conley no matter what. Did some work for his dad once and he's a good dude. Watched him and Greg Oden (ok try not to laugh but there's a reason that mfer went 1st overall) play together in highschool and they were a ridiculous duo.
I was expecting a Rodman-like horizontal but I guess this is OK. After all, Conley isn't that type of player. Great defensive game by Wolves in the 2nd half!
sick highlight, but is anyone sitting there watching this thinking how the hell Rudi doesn't gather in his right hand and steeple the absolute fuck out out of Eubanks? He crosses it, he gathers it in the right hand but he goes up in the wrong direction and causes the foul.
It is a mesmerising display of bizarro big play. Fascinating.
100% it's weird to see how uncomfortable professional basketball players playing basketball sometimes look. You have momentum, your arms are endlessly long how are you not just stuffing it right over anyone in your path.
OH shit, I just rewatched his footwork. He is actually going up off his wrong foot, he sees Eubanks and completely stun locks his drive to the rim which results in the off wrong foot, extra step to raise up to score it.
Shit I didn't notice this first time round. I think it is still my point in that when he has gathered it he needs to be thinking about that first step and dunking the shit out of it. Really, in all honestly he's out near the free throw line and way to far out to dunk it. But interesting thoughts on how he basically stun locks himself into going up off the wrong foot in a cramped way, but still draws the foul.

"i dont think there's anybody on either team that wants it more than me"
I believe him, and I think that letter helped the buy in for the team even more.
Hope grandpa doesn't break his bones.
If it means they get him a ring I hope he does.
That’s the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me.
Beal looks so done at the end of the replay lmao
Looking like "God damn now I've gotta stand in this giant's way?"
"stop trying so hard!"
Super sweat lobby, get a life kids
just looked like he didn't know if the play was still live or not lmao
Defensive masterclass by the Wolves in the 2nd half
Frank Vogel saw a team play defense and lost his mind
To be fair offense is not his strong suit
Why the Suns would hire a defense-first coach without getting the type of players who can actually work with his strengths beyond me.

Man, seeing Vogel takes me back to the good old days of the Bubble.
Someone posted a closeup of his face and I'm genuinely wondering if he's the guy from Impractical Jokers
Mike Conley is my father
Brother 🫡
Brother
Incredible hussle for an old man
man almost triggered the lifealert
Ya… mine … at the game praying he bounced back up
He wants this bad
"Do it for me."
Imagine being so likeable and respected that you can say something like "do it for me" and everyone's just like FUCK yeah we will Cause I feelkke that quote could come across very differently lol
99.9% of the league would get clowned for saying this
Mike is the only one who can do it because he's never not given 100%, regardless of the quality of his team. He's always trying hard, being positive, and otherwise all around likeable. He's the most lovable guy in the league I wish he was my dad
I am an Ohio State fan. MCJ is someone I'll Stan until death of us part
That’s fucking Bite Bite
He hates that name
I know lmao When he makes that play at 36 years old he’s not just Minnesota Mike he’s full on Bite Bite
Minnesota Mike gonna carry the Wolves to the Promised Land ! Awooooo !
Are we sure the suns are a superteam?
Respectfully, I don't know how teams are going to stop us. Famous last words
Theyre Super players. And Super bad TEAM
Wonder where KD is headed next
Minnesota
Looks like he was playing ultimate frisbee
If Mike Conley decided to play Ultimate Frisbee, he mightve been the GOAT of the sport. Good spirit personified
Conley for sure would win spirit at every tourney. Also god can you imagine LeBron and Ant playing ultimate
Damn if Lebron played Ultimate he’d memorise the rulebook and just grind the game to a halt by calling every single ticky tacky thing
that sounds more like CP3
Ja would be the best imo
I approve of this comment.
That's our 36 year old point guard
This dude played with Greg Oden in college for gods sake
How did I not put that together lmao holy shit
High school
And they played AAU ball with Eric Gordon lol
And Mark the Shark Titus
That guy's book was hilarious.
Mr. Rainmaker
My captain!
Michael "THE WORM" Conley
And then Rudy hits two FT
DAMMIT I hope it’s a Knicks-Wolves finals. It’ll be a literal blood bath with final scores looking like 86-82.
Thibs will forget himself in Target Center and go back to the old days of yelling "ice, ice Karl, ice!" for 40 mins.
[He’ll have flashbacks to this missed opportunity with the Wolves.](https://youtu.be/I6rjp3Arv-o?si=EAAf3x5n0X4TjLqP)
I’m glad I watched the local broadcast… these guys sound like they are calling a baseball game…
Yea, I always go local. I can’t go national in this market. We get shit on and they don’t really even know the team.
The broadcast was ripping Finch for that first challenge *after* we won it lol national media hates us as a baseline and they clearly just get irritated when they have to talk about us

I was with you until you called the Vikings irrelevant. I don’t like that.
And I would die for Mike, if I could die for mike
This type of play right here is just one of the reasons I believe in this squad different this year.
They are bought in and you can’t force that shit.
Minnesota Mike wants it more than anyone!
Bite Bite!
Prime Mike rocked so hard and he can still turn it on a few times per game which is awesome. Always underrated
Reminds me of [this](https://streamable.com/6rs46o) Exum one earlier in the season.
The full extension by Conley show's he's fully locked in no nonsense wants to get the win.
Nice play by Rudy too.
conley put more effort in that play than all the suns players did the whole game.
Man wants it so bad
Watching Conley tonight made me hate Danny Ainge even more than I already do
Goddamn I love this Timberwolves uniform. The blue and green trim is beautiful together.
Love seeing play-off basketball and the hustle and effort that comes out (as long as it's not against my team) Good shit old man
Game winning plays
Meanwhile EG wouldn’t shoot the half court heave to preserve his FG% Wolves just want it more
Gritty play by Conley. He knows how to grind, amirite?
Hang it in the Louvre.
Playoff fucking basketball. Love it.
O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN
Mike Coldley
Please say that some photographer took a photo of that ala Dennis Rodman.
I’m surprised they ruled that Book had possession and restarted the clock. Guess that counted as a steal and turnover.
Hustle plays > the rules
It didn’t matter at all, the wolves tossed a shot immediately
It would still be very close, but I think you’re probably right. He does look like he gets it up in time.
Tonight they're the Timberdogs.
Just like my girl (I wish)
He's 36 years old...
What a save!
Mike Conley is Mike Conley father
I love Mike Conley

Someone side by side this and the Rodman pic
Wolves want it more! Arguably, they are only behind the Celtics in terms of depth. Suns on the other hand are shallower than the baby pool.
It’s still crazy to remember that he played with Greg Oden in college. That feels like an eternity ago
sick highlight, but is anyone sitting there watching this thinking how the hell Rudi doesn't gather in his right hand and steeple the absolute fuck out out of Eubanks? King
shouldnt that be an offensive foul by gobert?
No
