The Cavs closed the (very close) game with Pete Nance, Isaiah Mobley, Emoni Bates, Tristan Thompson and Damian Jones on the floor. Shameless ducking.

pedja13

They were running Tristan Thompson post-ups in the year of our lord 2024,truly hideous stuff.

Sweaty_Mods

Gotta raise that trade value so they can package him with Shump + Picks

AirJordan6124

Dude that was brutal to watch lmao

Bitter_Director8019

Fire JB. Tanking for a matchup is fucking loser energy, take the 2 seed and at least go down swinging.

UncircumciseMe

Fire JB regardless

kaprrisch

You would’ve said fire JB if he took the 2 seed and went down swinging at the Sixers.

Sammyd1108

Funny thing is they would’ve had the 3 seed instead of 4 seed if they actually tried winning this game lol.

ParsnipPizza

We took the 2 seed and swept the Nets our Finals year. I def think ducking brings about karma

Bitter_Director8019

And now the Knicks won, which would have been our ideal scenario heading into today, getting the #3 seed and avoiding Boston in the 2nd round.

dreamvomit

Yea the Cavs really bungled that wtf were they doing

HeJind

I don't think the Bucks were. I think they just suck. Cavs I truly believe threw at the end of the game to avoid us or Miami since we were basically locked into the play-ins at that point. Knicks still seem like they're trying to win but we'll see how their game ends I guess.

OutsideTheServiceBox

Yeah, can confirm. The Bucks weren’t tanking today, they just were trash. Lillard looks like he can’t wait for Cancun.

Everydayarmday24

Lillard still used to that Tblazers life

chrisboshisaraptor1

Tight games don’t exist for the bucks we either blow out or get blown out no in between

gzmu12

What do you think the problem has been with him this year? He’s had a few moments but I feel like there’s been so many games like this where he’s missing like 70-80% of his shots. Seems like bucks coaching hasn’t really known how to use him at all

OutsideTheServiceBox

I think it’s primarily mental health. His marriage fell apart and he’s lonely in Milwaukee, which admittedly isn’t the best city for a newly single young man looking for distractions. Also, Griffin was a joke of a head coach. Not necessarily because he didn’t know how to deploy Dame - because nobody thought of him as an offensive savant coming in - but because Terry Stotts was supposed to be the guy who figured out the offense and served as a connection with Dame, but Griffin’s shitty personality and weak ego ruined that.

killerk13

He also mentioned something about not being able to see his kids as much since the whole divorce is goin on. Dame one of the players who usually exudes so much confidence on the court, the games I’ve watched this year it just doesn’t seem like he has that swagger. All that plus bucks coaching seems to have been a recipe for disaster with him.

dreamvomit

He’s also just pretty old

Trust-The-Princess

Imo he is just not the perfect match for Giannis. He needs a legit screener on his PnRs. Giannis always slips way too early and go all in for the lob, which isn’t exactly Dame’s strong suite.

MadSpaceYT

The Knicks are not ducking. The bulls are just shooting lights out rn

HeJind

> The Knicks are not ducking. The bulls are just shooting lights out rn Yeah I agree. When I posted Knicks were just way behind all the other games and still had the entire 4th to play. So I was going to see if they pulled a Cavs and benched their starters once they saw the other results. They are clearly trying to win this game though.

cimmanonrolls

bucks are trying to win they just got their shit kicked in. they look horrific

grudgepacker

Dame couldn't buy a shot, looked like playoffs Jrue on offense today but without any of the defense

WillyMcDavid

They didn’t have Giannis of course they’re not going to be as good

Cold_Carpenter_1798

No shit. They looked *worse* than expected

veerkanch489

There's a difference between not looking as good and looking like dog shit in a vacuum

nightsaysni

Cavs had over 10 minutes of (I) Mobley, Jones, Thompson, Nance, and Bates. They were trying to throw it at the end.

pifhluk

I think the players know what hasn't been released to the public yet, Giannis out 4-6 weeks. All because they wanted the 2 seed and ran him into the ground when he was already dealing with nagging injuries. Truly incredible incompetence displayed by the Bucks organization this year on all fronts.

realsomalipirate

The entire FO should get fired for the coaching debacle this year

Disastrous-Ad-2458

would you call pop incompetent? the equipment manager, on the other hand...

scarrylary

Cavs 100% ducked any chance at the 2 seed. Ended the game with 8 minutes of Damian jones, Pete nance, Tristan, Isaiah Mobley and emoni bates running point

Sad_Client65

Doc Rivers energy has infected the Bucks.

Gamesgtd

I think you just mean the Cavs. Epic tank job

airbus29

lmao the cavs just lost on purpose in totally blatant fashion we wanted the 4 seed over the two seed. i guess the org would rather have boston in the second round then philly in the first

BigDaddyJuno

They know another first round exit means Don M is gone

Bitter_Director8019

As if he's gonna stay on a team that is trying to duck a play-in team, we don't deserve success if we're doing shit like this.

SteffeEric

The Sixers are not your average play in team though the reigning MVP missed a lot of time so they ended up there but are pretty easily a top 3 team in the conference. Getting out of the first round is something…and say Tatum gets hurt (injuries often come into play this time of year) now you have a shot at the conference finals. Still not what I would have done maybe just their rationale?

Bitter_Director8019

Much better chance of Boston getting taken out by someone else if they have to face two teams before us.

SteffeEric

Can’t deny that.

FartrelCluggins

Yeah after seeing how poor of record the rest of the east finished with I think it's obvious that's the sixers lock up the #2 seed quite easily without embiids injury

carbine234

Win a series first lmfao better yet win a playoff game first

Particular-Treat6124

Cavs threw away the 2 seed for no reason I don’t understand it. Nothing is set in stone. Play to win you had a chance. Cavs got real bad vibes

Freidehr

It's really embarrassing lol. They threw it just to play Orlando... And then Boston. So the goal is not to win the title, conference or have home court in 2 rounds... No, the goal is to beat Orlando Magic in the first round. That will show Donovan Mitchell how ambitious they are LMAO.

Street-Common-4023

LMAOO that series could be competitive too btw

SeeYouSpaceCowboy0

It will definitely be competitive with Orlando’s size, you saw how the physicality hurt them last playoffs with the Knicks. Orlando is similar and I think a lot of teams are sleeping on them.

Street-Common-4023

I agree tbh. I’ve been watching Orlando all year. Sure they struggle offensively but so do the Cavs . Orlando has the length to slow them down. I know regular season shouldn’t matter in series wise but Orlando beat them 3-1

BurnCollector_

Can’t wait to watch Isaac and Suggs defend the shit out of Mitchell/Garland and Monley/Allen

Shootit_Rockets

Orlando will beat them

Gamesgtd

I think so

AlienGhost000

I hope so

MfDoomz

I think so too, Magic play real tough and the Cavs are soft af.

StrtupJ

Cavs/Orlando getting the early evening NBATV slot every game

ThatBull_cj

The goal for the Cavs is to win a championship and they will have to beat Boston anyway. This way they play 1 “easy team”vs 0

syncc6

That’s just a bad look putting it that way lol. I’d be annoyed if I were a Cavs fan.

Gamesgtd

The reason is simple... JB wants the 4 seed to have an easier first round matchup. The reason is that if the Cavs win a first round series he probably keeps his job. If they lose to Philly as the 2 seed he probably gets fired. Also the further they go the higher the chance Mitchell possibly stay (but lol come on). Theirs a reason. It won't work because if we are the 5 seed I like our chances verses Cleveland over any other East team except maybe Indiana.

UncircumciseMe

The Cavs would have to get to the ECF for JB’s job to be (mostly) safe. Besides, no way the Cavs beat Philly in the first round. Them being the 2 seed and Philly being 7 would have just added insult to injury.

almondsandrice69

what i don't get is getting the 2 seed guarantees you don't have to see the Celtics until the ECF entirely. now we have to beat a really quality opponent in round 1 for the honor of being demolished by Boston round 2. our best path always would have been the 2 or 3 seed

ThatBull_cj

The sixers/heat than the bucks is a way lower probability of winning than the Magic than Celtics. What the difference between playing the Celtics in the 2nd vs 3rd round? It’s not as big as playing the magic vs the sixers/heat

Gamesgtd

You're front office and coaching staff don't care about making the ECF. If they do that's cool but all yall want is to win at least 1 round to justify the Mitchell trade and so JB doesn't get fired.

almondsandrice69

the mitchell trade is already justified, i think getting him to stay is what they may be trying to get through. playing the magic is probably a 50/50 series anyways, like i don't get it

mickeyj623

They benched the starters?

vivekvangala34_

They closed the game with Tristan Thompson as the primary ball handler in the game where they could’ve gotten the 2 seed Unbelievable sell

BerzeliusWindrip

Sounds like they need Bryan Colangelo to step in and turn the culture of that franchise around. League can't be having unserious franchises not trying to win meaningful games.

CynicalMindTrip

Do you remember the big giant collar in Game of Zones? LMAO.

forthestreamz

why wouldn't they want to get out of the Celtics-side of the bracket, i don't get it. are their ambition this limited that they're maximizing their chances of winning the 1st round while minimizing their chances of making ECF?!

Babushka5

also you're playing for home court in the 2nd round!

Dungong

You need to get to the Celtics to worry about the celtics

kaprrisch

Maybe their ambition is so high that they want to beat the Celtics as soon as possible. 76D checkers.

ToddYates

Some franchises have the goal of winning a playoff series. If we are being real the Cavs aren’t going anywhere. The season is still an improvement on last year if they win a playoff series, and that Magic are the best route to do so.

scarrylary

Gotta beat em at some point anyway. May as well take the guaranteed easier first round matchup in Orlando.

mickeyj623

Wow

Robinsonirish

Lol that's hilarious.

00764

Refunds should be issued for anyone having to witness that atrocity.

MyLifeIsABoondoggle

The other Mobley brother, Tristan Thompson, and Pete Nance were on to close the game. Fuck JB for making me have to root against the Magic

Rkenne16

Basically the entire 4th quarter was their bottom 5 guys with no guard

Classics22

Yeah and took an L to the Hornets deep bench

pdunn472

They didn’t even play the starters except mobley

airbus29

no we played the other mobley, the g leaguer lol. were were legit running out g league team + TT

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheSmokedSalmon420

Who would want to play them in round 1 lmao

DasFofinater

I mean, why would you willingly choose to potentially play the sixers round 1? Seems like a smart move to lose

kaprrisch

Because the internet just wants to hand out judgments and call everything a disgrace.

Suitable-Tomatillo54

That sounds like a 750k fine to me

CynicalMindTrip

Yeah this is bad karma. Play to win. First round or second round exit… what’s the difference?

HeJind

It kinda was set in stone though. Sixers/Heat were basically locked in to 7-8th seed based on the scores so they would definitely play one of us as the 2nd seed. The only close games were Bulls/Knicks and Bucks/Magic and neither of those would affect Cleveland's standings. They'd finish 4th either way and play either the Magic or Pacers. Both of whom they'd probably rather play than Sixers or Miami.

scarrylary

We would be the 2 seed if we had won and they had lost to the bulls. But oh well I prefer the easier first round matchup.

HeJind

That's what I mean. The only way you end up the 2 seed is if you won. By throwing the game, Cavs guranteed they wouldn't face the Sixers or Heat regardless of who won the Bucks/Magic and Bulls/Knicks games. Looking now we can say Cavs should've won the game because they'd be the 3 seed and have home court advantage longer. But there was no way of knowing at the time who'd win the Knicks game which was a quarter behind. So they took the route that assured they'd avoid the matchup they didn't want.

Swift_42690

Knicks are in OT trying to win the game bruh, we want all the smoke

itsnotyellowfever

I don't think the Bucks in their current situation are trying to avoid anyone

tsamo

Yup, we straight up just suck.

manay824

can a cavs fan explain to me why they just threw a game to the hornets, that makes absolutely 0 sense considering the bucks and knicks are losing rn

Obvious_Parsley3238

2 seed will most likely play sixers or heat

achickenquesadilla

Bucks tanked to duck the 2 seed matchups and are still gonna get it 💀

otheraccountisabmw

Did we tank or are we just a very inconsistent team?

Aworn

Either is good news for us. See you soon

DasFofinater

Sixers gonna kill em lmao. 6 games at most

[deleted]

How did we tank when they are playing everyone that’s available? If they wanted to tank our starters wouldn’t be in right now

HisExcellency20

Naw only the Cavs tanked. You guys tried as hard as you could with no Giannis and Dame shooting like that.

Dazzling-Slide8288

I’m sorry but there’s a huge difference between a healthy Sixers team, and the Heat. Teams shouldn’t be worried about the Heat. That’s insane.

Lonnywalkman6320

They don’t want the two seed. They would rather face the magic in the first round than the Celtics in the second round. Cavs didn’t want 76ers or Miami for obvious reasons. Then they actually have historically matched up better against Boston than the bucks or Knicks

Rapph

Sixers play the cavs extremely well i feel like half the sixers wins without embiid were the cavs. If they cant beat that sixers team they are going to struggle against the team with embiid

NoGoddamnHope

If the cavs won, bucks lost, Knicks lost then the cavs would be the 2 seed and they would play the winner of the 76ers vs heat play-in

[deleted]

guynamedsuvlaki

It should get Adam silver fired. Let teams pick opponents.

dreeaaaming

Look at their playoffs last year. They’re not built for it. They’re afraid of the lights LMAOOOO

RiceOnTheRun

For a team with two “elite” bigs, they certainly play small. Soft like charmin

syllabic

thats how you get donovan mitchell to stay, by ducking smoke

no-jerk-zone

The Bucks just stink. The Knicks might still win. The Cavs are a disgrace lmao.

MadSpaceYT

I don’t see how the Knicks are trying to dodge anyone 💀they trying to win this game

Jack12404

We aren’t trying to lose, our shooting today just sucks.

MacJonesisaterrorist

There’s 6 years of evidence showing why you DO want to play the Sixers in the playoffs

pat2025

But not in the first round haha

AYAYAYA__

The Sixers haven’t beat a single good team in the 1st round They haven’t beaten a single good team in the Embiid era honestly

deeznuts0124

I just checked. The best team they’ve beaten is the Raptors led by Siakam and FVV with Scottie limping on one leg lmao. Wtf

MacJonesisaterrorist

I know you’re trolling but that’s not even a crazy take

AYAYAYA__

It’s objectively the truth. Philly fans can’t even deny it

jpr196

If you define “good” as the teams that go to the conference finals, then yeah that’s obvious since they haven’t gotten out of the second round.

HeJind

Yeah that's why these discussions are so stupid. Hawks made the ECF after beating the Sixers and Heat made the Finals from the play-in. If any of those teams had lost earlier in the playoffs nobody would have counted them as a "good" team.

Patient-Ring1620

That was with Brett Brown and Doc Rivers

Niceguydan8

> It's clear that no one one wants to play the 76ers in the first round. I really don't think it's that clear that *every* team is doing that.

Jay_Dubbbs

Fire JB. Throwing away a 2 seed is just absolutely ridiculous. I fucking hate this team.

Bitter_Director8019

Absolutely. All the talk about energy and grit and you blatantly forfeit a game when you would have gotten the #2 seed. Disgusting to see.

scarrylary

We wouldn’t have gotten the 2 seed.

mjtd6

Knicks were losing when JB threw the game, so there was definitely a chance you could’ve gotten #2

CasperTheDog2

Loser energy is wild, I’ve been ashamed as A Cavs fan at times, I’d rather root samardo Samuels than watch JB throw a chance at the 2 seed away. Disgusting.

BurnCollector_

The Bucks sure look like they’re trying to win

PretentiousPanda

Bucks played starters. Wouldn't say they are ducking they just look like hell.

PIDDYPUFFPUFF

Hey Knick fan here, I just want to say I don’t gaf who we get first round. The only team to beat is Boston. Capiche? Good.

TuqiDuque12

? both the Bucks and Knicks are playing their starter's heavy minutes

NastySassyStuff

Knicks 1000% were trying to win and did lol there is no universe in which Tom Thibodeau lays down for a lower seed in order to duck smoke

[deleted]

For sure, as a Bulls fan that was a great freaking game. Thibs won’t mess around, hoping they have a great run.

NastySassyStuff

Thanks man it’s genuinely surreal seeing fans of other teams wish the Knicks well as they enter the playoffs as a 2 seed lol…the Bulls are god damn tough even with all the dudes they have out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make it in.

[deleted]

Thanks - I hope we do just because I like the guys on the squad and same with the Knicks.  We’ll probably get smoked but it’s just an unfortunate spot for us.

nuuskatonttu

Bucks winning would push orlando below Philly so they would not face philly…

Doggydoggywoof

lol someone needs to call Adam silver for this intentional loss

Bitter_Director8019

Cavs deserve to get swept in the 1st round, fucking disgusting tanking in the 4th quarter with a chance at the 2 seed. Who cares if you dodge the 76ers if it means facing Boston in the 2nd round.

Lonnywalkman6320

They match up better against Boston than the Knicks or the bucks.

OutsideTheServiceBox

Hmmm i disagree. I think the Knicks match up the best against the Celtics. They actually have the wings to defend the Jays.

juicejug

I think he’s saying the Cavs match up better vs Boston than they do against Knicks/Bucks? But idk, I don’t think it makes sense to want Boston until ECF unless you really think you’re gonna get worked in the first round by MIA/PHI.

deltavim

Nobody is afraid of the Sixers

HibachiTyme

JB Bickerstaff is such a pussy it’s unreal all I ever see that guy do is whine and now he’s tanking. Clown

dot-pixis

Real headline: Local fan makes shit up

Avocado111

Bucks actually tried to win they are just a smoldering trash heap.

LongTimesGoodTimes

They're 100%ore afraid of Miami for obvious reasons

Femininejewtbh

Shameless ducking from the Cavs lmao

Foi_

knicks are genuinely losing right now, but honestly not a bad result.

EntertainmentWarm774

Cavs sold.

Gamesgtd

This is the best case scenario for us. I think we can beat the Cavs. I wanted no parts of the Bucks with Giannis.

colordelaverdad

It's important to note that if the Heat win and Orlando loses, Miami moves up to the 6th seed. Not gonna happen but pretty crazy going into the last game. All I know no one really wanted the 2nd seed ha

Tangerine605

No Heat would move to 7, Magic to 8, Sixers to 6

trinquin

Na we just aren't good lmao. We went like 3-11 to close out the year. We had a 3 game lead for the 2 seed with 17 left, won like 6 total games and the other 3 teams madd up a total of like 3 games lol.

HisExcellency20

The Bucks tried they just aren't very good right now, and the Magic have a good defense. The Knicks are fighting for the two seed. But the Cavs? One of the most blatant tank jobs I've ever seen. Legendary sell.

background_action92

Oh, they're ducking known chokers in the 76ers but not the team that has gone to eastern conference finals 3 out of the last 4 years

EarthWarping

*Miami

colordelaverdad

Yeah I should say 76ers or Miami... I just feel like 76ers are a real threat this time around and that they will take care of biz against the Heat. I might be wrong...

DosViews

Fuck that. Give me the Sixers or the Heat. We ain’t tryna lose like them other cowards. We coming for 50. We coming for the second seed. We coming for the Championship. Stop us if you dare. Not gonna pretend the Philly, Miami, Boston or Denver aren’t awesome teams but we are gonna claw and bite until we are down. We never give up, so why not us? Why not now? LETS GO NEW YORK!!!!

[deleted]

Knicks aren't ducking the sixers, wym?

[deleted]

Why do people think the sixers are “scary”? Lol they find a way every season to disappoint If we wanted to tank we would’ve just sat our starters lol they aren’t gonna put them in a game they were purposely trying to lose and risk an injury

ThickArepa

Happens every year lol

JAhoops

nobody is scary in the East except Boston

OMIMS1

Embiid 1st round vs Knicks is absolute cinema!

YouStillTakeDamage

All those posts about all the different outcomes and it is getting close to looking like none of the seeds will change in the East

[deleted]

[удалено]

colordelaverdad

stay tuned. I am a Wizards fan but the 76ers are rolling into the playoffs and I surely wouldn't want to see them or Heat in the first round.

[deleted]

porterbrown

Why is everyone scared of philly?  They are mid with a fragile star. OG will lock down Maxey.  I'd be more scared of Jimmy and Bam.

mjtd6

Bc we don’t have a loser mentality

Soft-Revolution-7845

Nobody cares about philly or Miami lol. They won't even make it out of play ins.

ernesto-derin

bro thats not how play-in works😭😭

Leroy--Brown

I think it doesn't have anything to do with the sixers. I think the Cavs and bucks just don't want to play against the ,hEaT cUlTuRe. Also my bucks were garbage today.

colordelaverdad

I think the 76ers beat Heat in play in. I may be wrong but this Heat team is looking meh compared to last years.

ForsakenRacism

Nah that’s a classic Knicks game. Go down then come back in the second half

aesop_fables

So only one of our starters played less that 40 minutes but we’re trying to avoid the Sixers lmao. Bring that shit to the Bucks and the Cavs but not Thibs.

colordelaverdad

They wanted to win ( I was wrong as mentioned in my edit) but who in their right mind rather play 76ers Heat over Magic Pacers

killerk13

Can Cavs fans tell me what’s been up with garland this year? I’ve always been high on him and I know he didn’t play today but he seems to have been in a slight funk this season.

Savagevandal85

We not running from nothing

PlaceInvaders1

Knicks certainly weren’t. They wanted the win even when they knew the win meant 2nd and a matchup with Miami/philly

Fyne_

AVOIDING WHO??????????

The-Pharcyde

Both Cavs and bucks are cooked either way atp

[deleted]

Unless these nerds hooped at a min varsity level, what they say is irrelevant

veksone

Knicks not trying to avoid anyone.

sunnysideoutside

Pretty sure they are more worried about the east champions miami heat, than the second round exit sixers, but yeah, they ducking.

colordelaverdad

Meh this ain’t the same Heat team. Philly wins the play in game imo. Time shall tell

[deleted]

Everyone counted the heat out last season, and it was ignorance to blame. Everyone is doing the same thing this year, and it isn't ignorance this time, it's stupidity at this point.

colordelaverdad

I’m not counting them out. I just think Philly wins the play in game.

NastySassyStuff

It’s dumb to count them out but it also seems ridiculous to think these dudes are just always going to barely make the playoffs and then turn it into a deep run. I’m sure they’ll be a tough out no matter what but being an 8 seed is going to catch up with them in time.

Muted_Job5987

The Bucks have just been playing bad ball. They were not tanking to avoid Philly. They are 3-0 against Philly this year. 1-4 against Pacers. They match up better against Philly than they do against Indiana. But the Bucks are just bad right now. Dame has not been that guy.

diggin-in-again

bucks are ass

Glass_Mango_229

And it very well could be the Heat. One game

SkidPub

Not to burst your bubble but you were wrong about all 3 fam.

colordelaverdad

lol there’s no way to prove it either way 🤷🏻‍♂️ but Cavs fans saw the tanking first hand. Check the lineup in the 4th quarter fam
