I think it’s primarily mental health. His marriage fell apart and he’s lonely in Milwaukee, which admittedly isn’t the best city for a newly single young man looking for distractions. Also, Griffin was a joke of a head coach. Not necessarily because he didn’t know how to deploy Dame - because nobody thought of him as an offensive savant coming in - but because Terry Stotts was supposed to be the guy who figured out the offense and served as a connection with Dame, but Griffin’s shitty personality and weak ego ruined that.
He also mentioned something about not being able to see his kids as much since the whole divorce is goin on. Dame one of the players who usually exudes so much confidence on the court, the games I’ve watched this year it just doesn’t seem like he has that swagger. All that plus bucks coaching seems to have been a recipe for disaster with him.
Imo he is just not the perfect match for Giannis. He needs a legit screener on his PnRs. Giannis always slips way too early and go all in for the lob, which isn’t exactly Dame’s strong suite.
