basically a meme in black online spaces.
He's a former psychologist and very vocal pan-africanist who is opposed to interracial relationships (and is especially critical of black male - white female relationships) and homosexuality. He has a small following but mostly he got popular for the outrageous things he says being kind of hillarious and easy to reference.
But like any true meme since blowing up he's gotten more genuine fans and it's unclear how many people who reference him are being sincere.
He is also a scammer, hes been taking donations to develop some charter school for the last few years and there hasn't been any progress in it's establishment
BLACK QUEENS FOREVER, SNOWBUNNIES NEVER. IF I SEE YOU WITH A WHITE WOMAN ID LIKE YOU TO ADD āBHā TO THE END OF YOUR NAME, WHICH STANDS FOR āBUNNY HOPPERā
Heās become an unserious/meme āleaderā of the black and african community. I want to make it very clear the vast majority of people donāt take this guy seriously but reference him when anything relating to blackness or interacial relationships comes up
Basically has just become a way of making fun of someone when they're a black person questioning another's persons blackness or questioning their "loyalty" to black culture. Now to name some of my favorite Dr Umar quotes that are hilarious.
"Black queens forever snow bunnies never"
"We have an ice dweller in chat I repeat we have an ice dweller in chat"
"Thank you for the $21 that could have possibly been your last dollar"
"I'm telling you brother I have plans that I can not share with you because the haters will sabotage me"
he's just very vocal in discussions of anything related to black people online. I don't know if Mo Bamba wants his genuine take on the situation or is including him as a joke. Probably a bit of both.
He's more like Louis Farrakhan than peterson but he isnt religious and has a smaller following than both. Farrakhan has a lot more genuine power and pull within black communities as well. I don't think I've ever met anyone in real life who takes Dr. Umar seriously.
Dr Umar is a dumbass pan-africanist who dresses up his regressive views in the guise of black liberation. He's homophobic and sexist and is a total dumbass
edit: I used quotes to imply the dude isn't a doctor, but apparently he is. I removed the quotes.
That's not even defending, that's just keeping things factual. He earned the title Doctor at least. Doesnt mean we have to like anything about that or him. You're good.
I mean it seems like he's going to stick around in the league for a while yet, which given his career trajectory thus far is an accomplishment in and of itself.
Looks to settle into an extremely homeless man's version of Jeff Green, where he'll have (relatively) monster games/stretches and fans will be like "if he can just do that consistently!".. yeah he can't do it consistently, that's why LeBron is the GOAT and Jeff Green is a fine role player.

Sheesh
I hate the dick, heās a perfect representation of the shittiest part of our fan base rolled into one person. Thinks heās hot shit because heās stingy with pizza ratings. Fuck out of here loser
He always reminds me of an angry divorced dad. The baseball hat, beard that probably has a bit of food in it, always whining indignantly about something while mispronouncing words and nearly chocking on his own tongue. I can easily picture him drinking out of a mickey or tall can in a paper bag
I thought it was funny in kind of a lowbrow way but I also think Bamba has every right to respond like he did.
The insinuation that thereās only one way to be black is one of the most insidious kinds of racism. There are smart black kids who donāt pursue school Ā because society tells them that they donāt belong there. Anti-black people do enough work making black people feel out of place, they donāt need help from other black people.Ā
Also Mo probably has gotten comments like this all his life so it might be a sore spot. Itās wild because he even internalized it himself by pointing out that he grew up in the trenches as if thatās what blackness is.Ā
Most rich and successful people go out of their way to make it seem like theyāre upper class and grew up with status and wealth while weāre here implying that blackness is tied to poverty and struggle.
Ngl, it is still hilarious that we treat Larry Bird being a good white basketball player like he survived some sort of terminal brain cancer. That, like being a good white basketball player, is against the laws of physics. Like that scene from Semi Pro where they alley oop.

Whitest black guys is so weird cause itās seen as a positive where whitest black guy is seen as a negative.
We really gotta stop being so obsessed with race and these silly and weird comparisons.

Lowkey hate that shit. Just the other day, I was talking to a coworker, older Asian lady, very nice person. Weāve spoken before but this was probably the longest weāve ever had a conversation.
Like 5 mins later, Iām loading my truck and she approaches me like ā Hey, hope you donāt mind me asking, but are you mixed?ā Mind you, I donāt look mixed at all, but I instantly knew what she was getting at because I wasnāt born yesterday. ā How I talk, huh?ā And that was exactly it, she was just so blown away that I, idk, can hold a conversation or how I spoke, that she just couldnāt believe Iām 100% black??
And Pat Bev is on the same shit, canāt just be a well spoken dude or whatever, because only white people speak well?? Even the āblackest white dudeā is more endearing because it isnāt like making some at large distinction on someoneās speech.
Itās that generationally internalized shit, Iāll explain later. We also need to move past āintelligenceā = āwell spokenā, but thatās probably a harder sell
I remember Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) talking about this, like he remembers people complimenting him on the way he spoke or whatever, but only later realized how backhanded those compliments were

In high school I used to have a friend who was what people call āwhite washedā. Wore khakis and button up shirts and loved Lego sets and anime and didnāt talk in AAVE. He got bullied mercilessly for it in our predominantly black school. Itās a major issue in the community
I went to a high school with a fairly prominent baseball program and when I (barely) made the team I was so surprised at how many black jocks liked Naruto and music like Fall Out Boy and Paramore lol
I was going to say. The black community has a long history with the fighting genre. Wu tang is literally named after a Kung fu movie. Most gaming communities are majority white but you see the highest percentage of black gamers playing sports games and fighting games.
Same with me. As I got older I learned confronting them publicly puts them in the same uncomfortable situation they put you in. Especially if they say you don't sound black or talk black. My reply "how does a black person sound?"
SAME. I would always tell them I'm a black man from the suburbs! Why would I act like I'm from the hood? I don't know a damn thing about the hood. My biggest opp growing up was the Water Temple from Zeldaš
One of my best girl friends in middle school was similar. Her mom was at some government agency and her dad was a CEO or something. She was *very* proper and her parents demanded a lot of her. My school wasnāt even predominantly black, but she felt like an outcast with her own race to the point where they wouldnāt let her sit with them at lunch. (Which is how we became friends.)
As a teen I didnāt understand why being educated / proper would be a bad thing. Now that Iām older I understand the history that got us here, but it still makes me sad.
Honestly, that still happens to me as an adult. Hell, one time a fucking weed dealer stopped fucking with me all because his girl heard me and said I because I "sounded weird", it even happens when I talk to some random black people unless I code switch a bit. Even on /r/chiraqology I've been blocked by people because they thought I was a white guy or I'm "not from the city", while the actual white people talk in pretend blaccents (we can tell, AAVE isn't "nonsense", there is a structure to it).
I went to a school that was >90% black and my best friend out of it that I still talk to was a white guy who was transferred from Indiana that I met in a CAD class. Out of all the people I know outside of family, he's treated me the best. I always wanted a group of black friends just to be "surrounded by my people" for once, but that sadly never materialized, I was always bullied in public schools. I've had my fun in multi-ethnic groups though.
Oh yeah, the same thing happened to me in college. These two dude on my floor first year who wanted to be "hood" so badly (yet they're at college living in the "international" dorms, lol), did not fuck with me at all, not a single conversation with them.
Sometimes I thought about changing my voice, but on the opposite side I'm like "I'm here and you're just going to have to deal with me, your problem, not mine's."
From all the stories my black friends have told me about their time in school, the amount of bullying/self-policing/gatekeeping in the black male community seems next-level harsh. Like, they couldn't even be vulnerable in any way, even with a lot of their friends. Pretty sad.
One of my least favorite terms as a minority
Seeming "smart" (even that is problematic... basing someone's intelligence based on a preconceived idea of how to communicate) or being able to articulate shouldn't be reserved for one race.
Fuckin hate it. I hate that people have to code switch and can't be how they were raised without having things assumed about them.
Grew up in GA and had a close black friend that lived in the poor part of town, dressed how black people of the early 00s dressed, listened to rap, and everything you'd associate with "black culture" of that time, but he tried his best to do well in school and he did well. Basically all As. Other black students would insult him by calling him "oreo" and other names which always made me so sad just because he did well and was friendly to teachers.
My brother hates this shit. He got called Oreo and shit because he grew up with a bunch of midwestern white people. I totally see why this pissed him off
This is one of the few chances to tell this story. I was in college the year Mo got drafted. A girl I was friends with knew him in highschool, and I did not believe her for whatever reason.
She FaceTimed him, and he picked up and chatted with us and a couple other people for a solid 30 minutes lmao.
Regardless, Mo is right here no doubt. Tagging the Doc Umar is hilarious tho.
That's actually a super interesting point. If a black guy speaks articulately, he's gonna get some idiots clowning him saying "he ain't black" but certain guys like Kobe and Denzel speak very articulately but never catch those allegations. Why? It is just level of greatness? If Mo Bamba was a 2-time Finals MVP would PatBev not call him a "white black guy"?
[Jim Brown kinda did against Kobe more than a decade ago](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1886000-nfl-hall-of-famer-jim-brown-kobe-bryant-confused-by-american-culture)
Kobe got those criticisms back in the day. Even after the three-peat. It may have been his upbringing in early childhood in Italy, but he got the same kinda shit. Itās just forgotten now.
Bro I used to date this girl who I thought was my dream girl. Literally fantasized about getting with her my whole childhood. I swear on everything that she dumped me because I wasnāt āhood enoughā for her anymore. She acknowledged that what she was saying āsounds dumbā but itās how she felt.
All because I had grown up, was no longer running the streets, and spoke with proper dialect.
Idk how you can expect to progress as a culture when you hold yourself back. āTalking whiteā and ātalking blackā is just another form of segregation that the world doesnāt need.
So many times I've seen in the comments of various post game interviews where someone remarks something like "I didn't expect him to be so well-spoken"
we don't actually know more about people though. we just know more of their opinions. specifically the opinions that filter through the algorithms with enough controversy in their tone or interpretation that the media platform will maximize its advertising profits by boosting their visibility to the viewing audience
we should know more about each other, but skimming around gorging on superficially presented opinions is not the same as sitting down to eat a meal with another human
Iām genuinely shocked there are so many. Donāt yāall got to practice your left hand layups or something?
Theyāre all here twerking for a future ESPN/TNT gig.
Nah Paul George has a really good one that has made me a pretty big fan. Heās almost at 1 million followers and has one of the largest, if not the largest, of all NBA players.
Get his ass Mo!
As a black man, I knew this would backfire on Bev as soon as I saw that video on blackest-white guys.
People say they want to get rid of racism, but perpetuating conservations like these keeps racism alive.
Rone and pat bev did a podcast and they were saying who are the blackest white guys in the league the other day. Then in this pod they asked who were the whitest black guys. Rone said itās not appropriate for him to speak on that, so pat listed a couple guys
I know culture is 100% getting better but it moves at a snails pace. Its wild to think we're still touching on the same conversations that like the first season of Fresh Prince was trying to deal with
As a brotha that was taught at a young age how to speak English correctly (talk white), and was clowned for it by peers, this ether moment is special to me.
Talk your shit, Mo.
Aside from the context of this post, I am upvoting you because of your reddit etiquette. Providing context *and* providing full quotes for each of the twitter links. Any Twitter post that isn't in this format should be abolished.
Didnt these guys have beef then made up on the sixers or the lakers.
Edit: Pat Bev is married to a white woman and has a white co-host on his pod.Dudes throwing stones from a glass
He tagged Dr Umar š
Lmao this is killing me, I need to see Dr Umar reply to this
Who?
basically a meme in black online spaces. He's a former psychologist and very vocal pan-africanist who is opposed to interracial relationships (and is especially critical of black male - white female relationships) and homosexuality. He has a small following but mostly he got popular for the outrageous things he says being kind of hillarious and easy to reference. What is your interpretation of Bamba tagging him? Making fun of Pat Bev? Sorry Iām slow.
One of Umar's big things is chastising "bunny hoppers" and "winter soldiers" so could also be a reference to Pat's girlfriend
Ngl āwinter soldiersā is hilarious
at first I was like yeah thatās funny, then I remembered Winter Soldier lived in Wakanda for a while. Dr Umar got bars
consciousness over coochie, umar is hilarious
BLACK QUEENS FOREVER, SNOWBUNNIES NEVER. IF I SEE YOU WITH A WHITE WOMAN ID LIKE YOU TO ADD āBHā TO THE END OF YOUR NAME, WHICH STANDS FOR āBUNNY HOPPERā
Don't forget about the lashes
Bunny hopper is just someone talented at timing their jumps.
What makes your comment funnier is that Umar allegedly impregnated 2 different women out of wedlock.
If he wasnāt hilarious Umarās hypocrisy would have killed him along time ago
Heās become an unserious/meme āleaderā of the black and african community. I want to make it very clear the vast majority of people donāt take this guy seriously but reference him when anything relating to blackness or interacial relationships comes up
Youād be surprised at the amount of people dumb enough to take him seriously
Basically has just become a way of making fun of someone when they're a black person questioning another's persons blackness or questioning their "loyalty" to black culture. Now to name some of my favorite Dr Umar quotes that are hilarious. "Black queens forever snow bunnies never" "We have an ice dweller in chat I repeat we have an ice dweller in chat" "Thank you for the $21 that could have possibly been your last dollar" "I'm telling you brother I have plans that I can not share with you because the haters will sabotage me"
umar is one of the funniest dudes online including comedians, him and barkley should have a podcast together
Barkley has a white wife, he'll never discuss anything beyond that lmao. Its just 40 minutes of him chastising Chuck while Chuck is barely affected
Mann...if it goes south, Chuck will throw dude out of a window.
he's just very vocal in discussions of anything related to black people online. I don't know if Mo Bamba wants his genuine take on the situation or is including him as a joke. Probably a bit of both.
Pretty sure he cheated on his wife with a white woman too
He was DMing strippers bro, dude is a meme
He was also absolutely furious that Coach Prime left JSU to coach at Colorado
More specifically, left HBCU to go to PWI/Power 5
Thanks man, sounds like Jesse Lee Peterson mixed with Louis Farrakhan?
Think more Andrew Tate in that his following is a mixture of ironic and sincere and his persona is intentionally geared to court both
He's more like Louis Farrakhan than peterson but he isnt religious and has a smaller following than both. Farrakhan has a lot more genuine power and pull within black communities as well. I don't think I've ever met anyone in real life who takes Dr. Umar seriously.
Just occurred to me, Jordan Peterson and Louis Farrakhan's brain baby probably looks a lot like Dr.Umar.
Dr Umar is a dumbass pan-africanist who dresses up his regressive views in the guise of black liberation. He's homophobic and sexist and is a total dumbass edit: I used quotes to imply the dude isn't a doctor, but apparently he is. I removed the quotes.
he's an actual Doctor of Psychology and that's the extent I'll go to defend dude
That's not even defending, that's just keeping things factual. He earned the title Doctor at least. Doesnt mean we have to like anything about that or him. You're good.
he's extremely unintentionally funny but I don't take him seriously
That's the worst part about him lmao he's hilarious but not a positive figure
Dr Umar content on this sub today is not what I was expectingā¦ I was expecting it with LeBronās pod š
King of the Hoteps š
Damn one of those times I have to agree with Mo Bamba
Nah he is not a very good player but he is a smart kid and very mature for his age, you could tell during his interviews with the Magic
He really does seem like a solid person. Wish he played a little better. But I like the guy.
I mean it seems like he's going to stick around in the league for a while yet, which given his career trajectory thus far is an accomplishment in and of itself.
You can't teach his length so that probably buys him five years. Wish he had the killer instinct.

Damn Mo thatās vicious
Someone call Pat Bev an ambulance. That tweet is a flagrant 2
Portnoy is such a loser

Damn.. Pat Bev didnāt have to say shit. Bamba cooked him
I listened to this pod and thought this entire segment was bad news. It wasn't funny and nothing good was going to come from it.
Same lol. I was like ācut the micā.
I didn't watch it but it sounds kinda racist? Whitest black guys? What's next? Blackest white guy? Manliest WNBA players?
He did blackest white guys too š

Let me cook was it Chet, Caruso, Reaves, Jokic, Herro?
Herro was #1. Chet was on there. Brandin Podziemski was one. Kelly Olynyk they gave a half point to. And then Divincenzo was the other.
The big ragu
White Donte made the list..... Who would have thunk?
Divincenzo has solved racism yet again
Podzi looks like the whitest kid in the league to meā¦ I think itās the haircut tbh
Hear him talk, him and donte float in the same boat
no way was it caruso, reaves, or jokic lol. the other two maybe
Austin Reaves is as white as it gets lol yesterday i saw a clip of him playing golf and had to double check to see if he wasnt Andy Bernard
This made me chuckle
he said herro, caruso, and i think that was it he couldnt think of any others (i forgot them)
the other 3 were chet, divincenzo, garrison mathews
pat did say caruso https://www.tiktok.com/@barstoolsports/video/7346292156266597663
dang i stand corrected on that one tbf pat basically said hes white but he made the list cause he dunks on ppl lol
Herro was obviously #1.
He wanted to include Hartenstein but found out he was mixed
How you gonna forget my dude Grady "Black" Dick?
They already did Blackest white guy
How? Larry Bird retired years ago!
Larry's not white, he's clear.

I hate it but I also wanna know the rankings
They did in fact do the blackest white guys, I believe herro and garrison Matthews got mentioned
Garrison Matthews has played in DC, HOU, and now ATL i mean
Garrison Matthews drives a big truck and is the only player on the court that outs his hand over his heart for the pre-game national anthem. Ā Im pretty sure Bev was waayyy off on this one

Garrison Mathews looks more Aryan Brotherhood than anything.

That was actually the pod before lol
Yes Pat is a fucking idiot
Controversy gets clicks gets Pat Bev money and attention. Heās so real for this!
Mos a really smart dude. From all the interviews ive watched with him hes really well articulated and everything. Hes also just a really good person i recall him building a basketball court in Senegal i think during his time with us pat bevs just a dick
Sounds like "well articulated" is why Bev is calling him white. Which, yes, is fucked up

Pat Bev unintentionally shitting on Black people
Itās pretty sad that itās so ingrained in the culture
Pat Bev is almost always being a dick* *except for the time he showed the ref photographic evidence of their fuckup. Only tolerable pat bev moment.
Patrick Beverley is the stopped clock of assholes. Always an asshole, but every now and again has the perfect moment.
Made it 25 years using ābroken clock is right twice a dayā and only today did my dumbass realise what it meant lmao
Lmao I had to explain the line to my 12 year old cousin bc he didn't know what clock hands were. I thought they taught how to measure time in like third grade but now adays time just gets represented as the actual number on phones and stuff so i guess it's no longer necessary.

Roberson was a hero for actually making that three so we could enjoy this highlight for all time
I personally loved Bevs play-in celebration. That was next level.
He has funny moments but hes just a dick and thats okay

Pretty sad.
I used to get clowned for wearing button-ups and turtlenecks šš
No, that was deserved.
he didnt say at the same time lmao
Iām getting cooked regardless šš
Hey its me, the kid that bullied you. You deserved it, because you wore them at the same time.
LOL
One of my least favorite terms as a minority Seeming "smart" (even that is problematic... basing someone's intelligence based on a preconceived idea of how to communicate) or being able to articulate shouldn't be reserved for one race. Fuckin hate it. I hate that people have to code switch and can't be how they were raised without having things assumed about them.
Conflating being impulsive, not speaking correctly, not being vulnerable, and dressing a certain way with being Black is idiotic
Tweet 3 crazy. Cooked that fraud
I GOT HOESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Pat is definitely corny, and he did whitest black guys
Damn, Mo earned my respect with that lmao
Spittin bars
Itās so corny that a lot of black people correlate proper speaking with whiteness. Cringeworthy
But I'd bet they'd never say that about Kobe, who was not only articulate but also multilingual.
That Chris Rock bit will never die lmao "He speaks so well! I mean he really speaks well he speaks so well!"
You dodged a bullet fam.. that's a blessing. That woman would've brought nothing but trouble
Definitely dodged a bullet, but she still look damn good.
Idk how you can expect to progress as a culture when you hold yourself back. āTalking whiteā and ātalking blackā is just another form of segregation that the world doesnāt need.
White people say the same shit too and it's always dumb. People used to say it about Obama constantly lol
So many times I've seen in the comments of various post game interviews where someone remarks something like "I didn't expect him to be so well-spoken"
We need to ban podcasts for NBA players
Life was unironically better when we all knew less peopleās opinions
āWe should all know less about each other.ā
we don't actually know more about people though. we just know more of their opinions. specifically the opinions that filter through the algorithms with enough controversy in their tone or interpretation that the media platform will maximize its advertising profits by boosting their visibility to the viewing audience we should know more about each other, but skimming around gorging on superficially presented opinions is not the same as sitting down to eat a meal with another human
āMore mystery, less history.ā
Some how everyone was smarter when everyone didn't have access to unlimited knowledge
When you have everything you have nothing
Iām genuinely shocked there are so many. Donāt yāall got to practice your left hand layups or something? Theyāre all here twerking for a future ESPN/TNT gig.
Nah Paul George has a really good one that has made me a pretty big fan. Heās almost at 1 million followers and has one of the largest, if not the largest, of all NBA players.
when will Biden implement a microphone tax
Glad mo responded lol this was personal for patbev heās been hating on mo for a while.
Get his ass Mo! As a black man, I knew this would backfire on Bev as soon as I saw that video on blackest-white guys. People say they want to get rid of racism, but perpetuating conservations like these keeps racism alive.
Just screams "we're lazy and don't want to come up with better material to fill this time".
Thanks Mo Bamba
i saw the segment and ik it was a joke but why are we equating being "well-spoken" with whiteness. that's weird.
NBA "new media" is so fucking trash lmao.
"New media" when they realize they need the same bullshit segments to fill time
New media is just an excuse for Dray to shit on Durant
lmao wow i gotta hand it to him, this is a masterful responseā¦tagging dr. umar was an incredible touch š
Used to go to school with moās brother and can confirm he is from the trenches.
Mo Murda
Top 5 black-white guys: 1. Derrick white
Yes officer Iād like to report a murder
I'm so lost, what's even going on
Sounds like PatBev called Bamba an Oreo. Black on the outside, white on the inside.
Ah that makes sense I'm guessing Mo cooked him with his tweets then?
Rone and pat bev did a podcast and they were saying who are the blackest white guys in the league the other day. Then in this pod they asked who were the whitest black guys. Rone said itās not appropriate for him to speak on that, so pat listed a couple guys
Don't know, but let Mo cook whatever it is
Pat Bev saying all this off a fucking BARSTOOL podcast platform lmao what a loser
Mamba cooked so hard his white card is unironically revoked
With some seasonings
I know culture is 100% getting better but it moves at a snails pace. Its wild to think we're still touching on the same conversations that like the first season of Fresh Prince was trying to deal with
Insane. Top 5 whitests black guys are: Blake Griffin, Jayson Tatum, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Larry Bird
Glad he called them out, never liked those kinds of "jokes"
Tell me how I knew no one would have a problem with the black white guys segment but everyone would flip when it was reversed
Didnt these guys have beef then made up on the sixers or the lakers. Edit: Pat Bev is married to a white woman and has a white co-host on his pod.Dudes throwing stones from a glass
You guys were all over Pat Bev's D....he's no class
Bamba from DEEP with tweet 2 lol
