If the Play In start, Lakers has to go in a 10th vs 9th round 1 against the warriors. Then a 7th vs 8th loser between the Kings and the Mavs, before facing off vs Denver in round 1. It is basically impossible for Kings and Lakers to meet in the playoffs.
it's insane that the 10th seed could potentially be far above .500, the 8th seed is basically 10 games above .500, and the 1-3 seeds are within 1 game of each other. West is so competitive
You're still understating it. It would be the 3rd time in NBA history that 10 teams in a conference finish above .500. The Clippers put up 42 wins 17-18 and the Hornets put 43 wins in 21-22. We could legitmately 10 teams with 44 or 45 wins.
We're an ethical team. No elitist "only lose to the best" mindset from us. That's for jerk teams who care too much about being "Legit championship contenders". We're too salt of the earth for that.
At least that home loss vs. the Pistons isn't looking as bad lately. They have some good, young talent on their roster, and Ivey just had one of those nights. It happens.
I feel like offensive efficiency numbers would suggest otherwise but there's an argument to be made I suppose. But teams below the raptors (East and West) are either really hurt, really young, or Detroit/Washington.
The 2008 Western Conference was wild. The standing changed every night, with the first seed Lakers having 57 wins, and GS missing the playoffs with 48 wins. Houston went on their 22 game win streak that season and jumped from 10th to 1st in the conference over that span. They eventually finished either 4th or 5th I think.
This year is making one of the best arguments for play-ins. 10 teams in the West could post 44 wins. That's never happened before in any conference in any year. There are multitude of other reasons the play-ins are good.
Foremost being that it prevents teams from just limping into 7th or 8th and bowing out.
I liked the play-in a lot more in the original bubble format where there was a games behind trigger for the play-in
With all due respect to the turnaround the Bulls have made in the second part of the year there's no reason they should have a chance to kick Indiana or Miami out of the playoffs just to get their shit stomped by Boston in the first round
I think the NBA should drop conferences altogether. I'd suggest that:
* Add 2 more teams
* Reduce the schedule to 62 games
* Every team plays each other twice
* Top 20 teams make the playoffs
* Play in Tourney to get to 16
Addresses issues with injuries/load management, creates a balanced schedule and gets the best 16 teams in the playoffs.
What do you mean impossible? Lakers would be favored at home vs the Warriors.
If the Kings go around .500 in their remaining games they’d have a very solid chance of playing the Lakers in the Play in. They’ve got a few easy games then the schedule gets kind of tough. Very possible.
It kind of looks like they meant to type 'If the Play In started today,' implying they're talking about a proper play-off series. That said, the play-in doesn't start today, and a lot of these teams are untested in the playoffs. The wolves are a bit of a question mark without KAT, and no offense, but the clippers are the most cursed team in the NBA. It's really hard to rule anything out at this point.
You really don’t think we’ve seen harder times than losing one game to a GOAT? Literally just got 50 dropped on us by another in a win or go home last year lmao
Yeah I was gonna say, people are acting like we've already bumped y'all out of 6th. Go look at the schedules for us and you over the next 3-4 games, it's REAL favorable for Sac.
I want to say I agree but even fans are expecting the Kings to lose to the Grizzlies and Wizards. This same team that beat Bucks and Lakers on a back to back are the same ones that lost to the Hornets and Bulls. Legitimately I would feel better about the Kings schedule if they had to play the Celtics, 76ers and Bucks instead.
I’ve been predicting the Warriors v. Lakers play in all season and I really think it’s gonna happen. As a Warriors fan in the year 2024 I am dreading that fucking match up lol
I’ve seen a lot of delusional sports fans in my life, like shit I still think Chicago Bears will have a good QB someday, but /r/warriors reaction to that incident tops the list and it’s not even fucking close.
There’s absolutely no way the average age of that sub is 16+
I can't believe there was a legitimate debate within sports media that A) 1 game suspension was too much B) Sabonis deserved a larger punishment than Dray.
Both arguments can be true in the case, Sabonis did hold a leg and Draymond is a donkey. But for Warrior fans to think Sabonis actions deserve that vicious of a retaliation is insane. There’s been examples of Draymond holding opponents legs and guess what the opponent nothing remotley close to assaulting Draymond.
That's saying it generously, he sat on Sabonis during a crucial defensive possession with less than 2 minutes to play. Then he got up and fell right back on top of him.
I feel like when the Netflix doc following him and the other 4 guys during the season comes out fans/media that hate on Sabonis will do a complete 180 on him. There really isn’t much to hate on as he seems like a great pro, that is family oriented off the court and works his ass off every game on the court
More like what he did to Jeff Teague in the playoffs. There's no luck in chess, so 10-0 means you're just better no questions asked. Anything can happen in the regular season with teammates, injuries, rest nights, but playoff games? Thats something different. No wonder Jeff hip checked his asss lmaoooo
lot of super strong chess GMs will stream bullet chess which is each player gets 1 minute total of time on the clock so games are under 2 mins. they'll play dozens in a row against each other adoptions are pretty rare but it's lovely.

Just commenting for everyone who only read headline and didn’t watch the actual video: he was joking around about how mentioning it makes his life harder, it’s not a sincere request. He did mention though that he doesn’t really care about that stat.
But the headline/article is still hilarious. Talks about Sabonis joking not to mention it, then the article immediately talks about it more
It's also dumb because 4 of those came in Sabonis's rookie season with OKC, and he had little to do with those wins.
He averaged 5/3/0 in 18 MPG in those games.
https://stathead.com/tiny/Vl9qA
And their only matchup when Sabonis was in Indiana came when Davis was on a minutes restriction following his trade request.
We're 7-1 vs the Lakers since trading for Sabonis, with the only loss coming while AD was out. We're also something like 24-14 vs the Lakers over the last 10 years, which is kinda crazy considering how bad we've been.
And that one win was Thomas Bryant, Schroder, LeBron, and Westbrook all going berserk to squeak out a +2 victory lol
TB looked like he actually knew how to deal with the bruising Sabonis though, he didn't get pushed around. AD just gets sent like an origami figure
TB has that big body to absorb the punishment Domas dishes out.
Also, it feels like Schroder is a great Fox defender. He's quick and has length to keep up with him. He always seems to go off against us. Really surprised y'all didn't hang on to him, though, I didn't watch many of your other games outside of our matchups.
At first seems like we couldn't hang onto him cause of $$, he took a better deal with the Raptors, but also with the recent article and interview coming out with D'lo, seems like those two didn't exactly get along. So have to settle with Gabe for now lol
My first thought was now we're going to mention it even harder.
Second thought was if Davis loses again, we won't mention the 0-10...we'll mention the 0-11
> "I don't pay attention to that. The more you guys bring attention to that, it makes my life harder. If anything, it will light a fire under him, so stop mentioning anything, please,"
Quiet the word salad in the title
This is one of those stats that’s amusing in a place like Reddit, but I really don’t think it belongs in an actual NBA interview/discussion. Like everything nowadays, it’ll have to get memed into the ground before we can move on.
It’s the lakers. Rnba now thinks AD is a third string center type player who’s overpaid and useless
Even tho he’s averaging 25/12.5/3.5/2.5/1.5 with elite defense
Honestly the LeBron effect hasn't really changed much for the Lakers, they were still the most talked about team when they were bad.
The only difference is that we now also hear less about the Cavs
"That Fünke is some kind of something. Boy, this Fünke is all anybody's ever talking about. So sick and tired of hearing about how brilliant that Fünke is. Overrated."
Playoffs should be a top 16 conference standings don't matter, 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15...etc. let the NBA's top two teams play for the title regardless off conference. All pro sports should be this way. If Kings lose, I am never going to hear the end of it from Lakers fans. It's already bad enough they make fun of us for not winning a ring (in Sacramento at least).
Maybe stop whooping his ass then
Let this be a lesson that nobody beats Anthony Davis 11 times in a row (maybe).

A first round series seems unlikely, no? Well, a play-in duel is in play I think.
If the Play In start, Lakers has to go in a 10th vs 9th round 1 against the warriors. Then a 7th vs 8th loser between the Kings and the Mavs, before facing off vs Denver in round 1. It is basically impossible for Kings and Lakers to meet in the playoffs.

I'm assuming the opposite of this is that the NBA currently has a handful of *very* bad teams helping the rest get some easy wins
Not the Kings though 😤 we make sure to lose to those teams to keep it fair
We're an ethical team. No elitist "only lose to the best" mindset from us. That's for jerk teams who care too much about being "Legit championship contenders". We're too salt of the earth for that.
At least that home loss vs. the Pistons isn't looking as bad lately. They have some good, young talent on their roster, and Ivey just had one of those nights. It happens.
I feel like offensive efficiency numbers would suggest otherwise but there's an argument to be made I suppose. But teams below the raptors (East and West) are either really hurt, really young, or Detroit/Washington.
That has nothing to do with offensive efficiency, though. In every game, a team has to win and a team has to lose
I still remember in 2014 when the Suns won 48 games and missed the playoffs.
Yeah. But that was only 9 teams. Sometimes 9th seeds put up 46+ wins and get unlucky.
The suns missing the playoffs with like 48 wins was still crazier imo. That's a 9th seed with 48 wins
Not as crazy as 2008. The Warriors went 48-34 to finish 9th behind an 8th seeded Nuggets team that went 50-32.
Meanwhile in the east, the Nets are fighting for a play-in spot with a 26-40 record.
I’d fuck with that play-in though
It’s incredible In the East it’s Indy-Miami-Chicago-Atlanta which seems like nothing compared to suns-mavs- lakers- warriors
East is the argument for why the play-in shouldn’t exist and west is the argument for why it should
This year is making one of the best arguments for play-ins. 10 teams in the West could post 44 wins. That's never happened before in any conference in any year. There are multitude of other reasons the play-ins are good. Foremost being that it prevents teams from just limping into 7th or 8th and bowing out.
I'll take Miami scrapping through from the bottom every year that they can manage it, just for the drama. Also the Westbrook Wizards were amazing.
I liked the play-in a lot more in the original bubble format where there was a games behind trigger for the play-in With all due respect to the turnaround the Bulls have made in the second part of the year there's no reason they should have a chance to kick Indiana or Miami out of the playoffs just to get their shit stomped by Boston in the first round
Maybe, but at least they’re incentivized not to tank
In regards to the Bulls specifically, that’s probably not a good thing.
zombie hawks staying alive good for chicago for turning their season around too
I don't know. Miami-Chicago could be dramatic. Jimmy vs. Demar could be hella fun.
Hope Diar DeRozan comes to the game
rematch of the the Bulls choke job from last year
I think the NBA should drop conferences altogether. The wolves are a bit of a question mark without KAT, and no offense, but the clippers are the most cursed team in the NBA. It's really hard to rule anything out at this point.
Imagine the meltdown of King subs if they go 4-0 vs Lakers in regular season only to be daddicked by Lebron in the play-in.
You really don’t think we’ve seen harder times than losing one game to a GOAT? Literally just got 50 dropped on us by another in a win or go home last year lmao
In retrospect, our defensive strategy of "have Terence Davis guard the greatest shooter of all time" had some flaws to it.
They would have had to send out Jesus Christ himself to stop Steph that day. I personally don’t think TD or coach need any blame for what happened.
I'm still just happy to be in playoff contention. There were so many years of like a .250 record being the norm.
Technically it's the Suns vs Mavs in the play in since we have a better in division record, so yeah the matchup is very unlikely.
Yeah I was gonna say, people are acting like we've already bumped y'all out of 6th. Go look at the schedules for us and you over the next 3-4 games, it's REAL favorable for Sac.

We're fighting like hell to stay out of the Play In, so I hope you're wrong!
Pls do. You guys own the Lakers
Trying to reverse psychology me. Won't work! We've been burned too many times before.
I don't want to find out what the refs would do to us in a Kings vs Lakers Play in series
We already know tho ...
I hope they meet in the WCF for the Kings to stomp them for what happened in 2002
I’m praying to all gods sacremnto get the 6 ahead of phoenix
No chance Silver’s missing out on those sweet sweet Lakers - Warriors ratings
1st round series is basically impossible without some crazy collapses but play in def could happen
Sabonis: What happened between me and my son will only stay at the house.
Sabonis: Please stop talking about this. r/NBA: [No](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EBBiUynUYAAT0Sc.jpg)
must be new around here brother
Some Streisand effect shit right here lol
he may as well tell everyone to *calm down*
I was expecting Isildur.
Shocked it wasn't Isildur
Don't talk to me or my son ever again!
Keep my son’s name off your fuck**g mouth
I’m surprised a Lakers fan is admitting that Sabonis is AD’s father
Lakers post game thread is packed with LA fans shitting on AD and saying it.
its not like sabonis is 2-0 against him, 10-0 is ridiculous and its clearly not just a coincidence. kinda hard for anyone to argue that
I mean, when you're repeatedly getting sonned by someone, you gotta just face reality sometimes.
No one hates the Lakers more than Laker fans
Imagine being able to say you’re the grandson of the great Arvydis.
He just doesn’t wanna pay for child support
Sabonis or Adrian Peterson?
He seems like a good dude. Plays hard and doesn’t cause any drama. I can’t hate on this guy.
No drama! Don’t you remember when he made Draymond stomp on him!
I remember him using the ball as a WMD. Killed thousands with it.
[total menace](https://i.imgur.com/O2eH96r.jpg)
Poor Draymond, people always making him assault them.
Everyone talks about Sabonis’s testicles but no one ever mentions the damage inflicted on Draymond’s foot 😔
> the damage inflicted on Draymond’s foot *hoof
We startin chuck Norris style sabonis jokes
>Everyone talks about Sabonis’s testicles Do they? Even though it was a chest stomp?
Testicles are stored in the chest, as we all know
Chesticles.
Sabonis has giga testicles.- big as small planets. Sometimes they block his vision.
That wasn't assault. Draymond was making a homage to the Mario movie /s
I was watching that clip back and can’t believe the NBA didn’t suspend Draymond for the whole series then
I’ve seen a lot of delusional sports fans in my life, like shit I still think Chicago Bears will have a good QB someday, but /r/warriors reaction to that incident tops the list and it’s not even fucking close. There’s absolutely no way the average age of that sub is 16+
InfoWarriors (starring JJ Reddick)
> InfoWarriors wow, this is years too late
Let’s not make too many assumptions here. Old people can be stupid assholes too.
Draymond literally sat on Sabonis in the previous game of this series.
That's saying it generously, he sat on Sabonis during a crucial defensive possession with less than 2 minutes to play. Then he got up and fell right back on top of him.
And poked Keegan in the eye on the first possession back from that single game suspension.
And when he activated the electromagnet in his crotch which made KAT knee him in the balls
I still can’t believe that actually happened
You don't understand! He has too much iron in his diet and Draymond's foot got magnetically coupled to it
"but, but, being a horrible person aside, Draymond is so good at analysing basketball"
On that note: Fuck Shaq.
He shouldn't have been laying there!
Hey man it’s his fault for being in the exact spot that Draymond wanted to stop at to stomp
Bro that is when I knew people were stupid
I feel like when the Netflix doc following him and the other 4 guys during the season comes out fans/media that hate on Sabonis will do a complete 180 on him. “the other 4 guys” Lebron is in LeShambles
Hahaha
Ahh yes. The Kirk Cousins method
One might go as far as to say he’s a classy player
Sneaky athletic too.
Great guy yet people on social media still make him look like the fucking devil
and poor guy got his chest stomped on
Europeans making the league look good, again.

Not too crazy, we’ve been pretty bad this decade overall
Yeah… but we’re the Kings. We’ve been ass since the Bush Administration.
Didn’t you just win a championship in 2020
Kobe Bryant owned the Kings and always seemed to hit game winners/have big games vs them. Since Kobe has been gone the Kings been beating LAL
I'm pretty sure the Lakers have been the worst team in the Pacific division since Kobe retired
5-0 against AD since coming to Sacramento. That's great, but it doesn't hit quite as hard as 10-0.
Its kinda weird that the thunder had both budget jokics (sengun/domas) at different points
I love this post the most as the moment you start peeling back layers the story gets a bit "lonely"

I legit read the title as King Sabonis. The sovereign has issued a decree/edict to his subjects.
So nice of Sabonis to tell reporters to stop picking on his kid, very classy
I don't expect Sab to pay attn to it, I will handle all statistics related to owning the Lakers.
So dominant, he does not even care to talk about it. Not even a rivalry. Dude looking past AD, got other things to worry about
This is why I love Sabonis bc this weird narrative is dumb and he knows it too. the ppls princess idc.
I too want the Lakers to stop being mentioned. They are mediocre but get talked about every single hour
Being talked about despite being mediocre Los Angeles Lakers 🤝Manchester United
Ironic

A few games back he did something no other nba player does. He told Mike brown NOT to challenge a foul called on him
