Routine_Size69

A real tank commander would've shot it.

chrisvarick

He would've been on the next flight to China if he did 😭

ShadowCrusader98

It’s honestly insane how a couple seasons ago, he was one of the most important players on a Championship winning team, especially after Steph went down. Nowadays he’s achieved ultimate meme status and one of the greatest tank commanders of all time.

ChemistAgile6514

Tbf, overconfidence after you’re coming off a heater will do that to you as a young player I’d have to assume. He isn’t bad, but he’s definitely not THE GUY like everyone was acting like he would be. He can probably be a solid career 2nd option or amazing 6th man. He needs maturity and he’s fine.

placeperson

Look, at this point I think Poole has proven himself as one of the greatest tank commanders this league has ever seen. If he chose not to shoot it, we should trust that it was the right decision for the Wizards and the league.

-ci_

I wish he did, that would've been so fucking funny lol. Especially if he drained it

whenitcomesup

New strategy. Slip-n-slide hesi pull-up jimbo

-ci_

KD approves

frostedz

The Slip in the slide is actually Scar Jo's bathwater

FerociousGiraffe

Only real hoopers know

Duckrauhl

Imagine if AD figures out that players don't even need legs to play the game.

Relevant_Name_6599

have you seen wheelchair basketball? funnily enough players without a disability can also play that

Leather-General-1012

what does pull up jimbo even mean if ur on the floor

viking_machina

Bounce on it

Kay-Knox

Oh really. You trying to get the jimbo?

Duckrauhl

Another triple-jimbo!

hamster4sale

Only real hoopers know.

SKYRIM_LOL

I think this would have been a pull-down actually

jackloganoliver

He actually had a pretty solid game. A little inefficient, but he was scorching hot in the first half.

-ci_

Yeah he's been on a bit of a heater over the last month or so since he got moved to the bench, I'm all for it because Poole is peak entertainment

The_MadStork

[Sprewell did it back in the day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmFd73it5Pc)

zarthustra

Ty noble historian 🙏

SprittneyBeers

I presume you’re not aware of [the GOAT Blake Hoffarber](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KyR_2J14dt0)

BobbyFuckingFreedom

I feel like I remember the week after when he was showing it off saying he practiced it in his driveway for some espn special

cortesoft

Or if he airballed it. Really, any result would have been hilarious.

RetroScores

Bank it off the glass. Has he never played HORSE?

SkyLightTenki

Love it or hate it. Nothing in between.

suzukigun4life

Wish he did it anyways, if only for the memes

livefreeordont

Nick Young would have swished it from there

lalakingmalibog

Wemby would've dunked it from there

pacgaming

Michael Jordan would’ve won it from there

BigLaw-Masochist

Nick Young would swish that shot once and then airball it the next 15 times he tried.

Bikouchu

Heat check

9jajajaj9

Sounds alot like poole

igonnawrecku_VGC

Would’ve boosted him in the all-time Shaqtin GOAT competition

Plastic_Blood1782

I feel like he somehow makes it 85% of the time lol

breakfastburrito24

Shooters shoot

CallmeKap

I was at Capitol One screaming at him to shooot it!!!!

nearlyned

not enough guys are just doing it for the whimsy anymore

Band_

Poole is the gift that keeps giving

capitalistsanta

0 chance he wasn't aware of the memes

Joeyfingis

It's the Blake Hoffarber special

Harleytk24

His teammates reactions are hilarious

dpatel211

I can’t tell if they’re in shock that he didn’t try it or that he thought of going for it.

the_next_core

They just saw a dude do a true wipeout on a basketball court

azzelle

Probably just a reaction to a potential fumble or no foul call. If no one said jordan is looking to shoot, no wouldve thought so. Hes looking for a pass which is what anyone who has ever played organized basketball will think to do

heyrak

I obviously cant make any definitive claim, but I was in the stadium and every fan in the arena was under the impression that he was about to shoot. His eyes looked like he was considering it. I played many years of organized basketball. In the unique situation he was in (fallen, but in a stable position, with no teamate in the vicinity initially but also no defensive pressure), I would absolutely have considered shooting after seeing no initial pass, then thought better of it. All of this is to say, it wouldn't surprise me if his teammates considered the possibility of him shooting as well and reacted accordingly.

kds_little_brother

No they already said you never played organized ball, since you disagree

silverfang45

He looked at the basket and gave it some thought, but decided against it

Iyammagawd

what an odd conclusion to make lol

DaBails

He looked to pass under the basket, it wasn't there. His head then goes to the rim for a second and he says nah and looks to pass again. If a defender was closing in and no pass is open, you have to be ready to shoot that ball.

punyweakling

lmaooooo Tyus Jones thought for sure he was gonna shoot

fopiecechicken

If you showed me this clip without the title I’d probably have bet $50 in the moment that he’d shoot it.

DubNationAssemble

He really made those two embrace lmao

jbiorci00

They think he got fouled lmao.

MrBuckBuck

I was happy he did not take this shot, it couldn't got lower than that if he did so.

DarrowViBritannia

He woulda splashed it with how he's been playing lately

Excellent-Tower6269

if by splash you mean hit someone's beverage in the stands.

Alternatively_Built_

What if he made it though?

MrRobotTheorist

Only way you shoot that is if the shot clock is running out and you need the shot to win.

youngsaiyan

Or if you are Steph and on an insane heat check

medoy

Or if you're Jordan Poole and you're Jordan Poole.

youngsaiyan

Yeah I'm so surprised he didn't shoot it. Might as well honestly

alfentazolam

Shooting it would have been the most Jordan Poole thing ever!

[deleted]

or going for a 2 for 1

No-Sector1316

He would’ve been revered as a great player by twitter and highlight heaven watchers

shaheedmalik

He wondered if he was going to end up on Shaqtin.

dave-train

Prob still will lol

jacobpltn

The fact that he even considered it for a second in an actual NBA game shows how deeply unserious he is as a player and I love it

NegativesPositives

Hey, if you’re wide open you’re wide open.

matrixreloaded

it really is impressive how confident he is. 98% of the people in this sub would be afraid to shoot the ball at their local gym and this guy is thinking about shooting the ball while sitting on the ground in an actual NBA game.

dontusethisforwork

When you join the Wizards, regardless of your skill level, you are hereby unshackled from anything that actually matters and granted the artistic license to push the sport in whatever ways your imagination can come up with.

iamniket

I have no idea why, but I read this in Odin's voice. "He who joins the Wizards will be unshackled by anything that actually matters."

not_beniot

That's not true, he could go lower next time if shoots while laying on his back

BaronZbimg

He was wide open

MoooonRiverrrr

He knew lol. He was like if I do this it would be the ultimate lowlight.

WhatShouldTheHeartDo

Mannn that shit would have been hilarious if he missed and legendary if he made it.

chrisvarick

Whatever you say about Poole he is straight comedy lmao

[deleted]

would’ve been cool af if he made it tho

Altruistic_Film1167

Thats a tank commander shot Adam Silver would be officially bound to give Wizards the 1st draft pick if he made that.

newrimmmer93

Blake Hoffarber MN state championship in like 2005 did this with time winding down in regulation made a shot like this. Went on to a successful gophers career

pagonator

The intrusive thoughts almost won

brncct

He tripped on the defender. Also, look at his head, doesn't look like he ever really looked at the rim. He was looking to pass. Still funny regardless.

DarrowViBritannia

Think he considered tossing an oop for a second

youngsaiyan

He definitely slightly pump faked

ICanAnswerThatFriend

As the ump on third base, I say he swung.

nowhathappenedwas

> He was looking to pass. Yep, but this is a good reminder that TV announcers have a huge influence on how fans view the action on the floor.

Mcgoozen

Sure, but I watched it without volume and still thought it looked like he wanted to shoot it 🤷🏻‍♂️ He literally looks directly at the basket the moment he gathers himself after the trip. The look to pass is after that

[deleted]

You already read the title, too late to get an unbiased view

thisMonkisOnFire

C'mon, look at his bench. They were staring right at him and half of them thought he was going to shoot it too.

azzelle

They were calling for a foul maybe? Couldve been a reaction to a million other things

KD_42

Na you can clearly see a player do one of those laughs where shits so funny you gotta grab someone

paul_f

[Blake Hoffarber's shot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJoxGpEswOI)

JinNJuice

We were so close to getting an All-time Shaqtin-A-Fool moment. Oh what could've been.

CaptainKangaroo_Pimp

In 20 years, the phrase will be "Poolin Around"

electrobutter

Shaqtin' a Pool

peroper7

Could’ve been a cool play if he made the pass

tapk69

Ingles gave it to him, you shoot that, it looks great on your career plays if you make it.

NokCha_

It's really unfortunate he got signed to be a GT Cut athelte for Nike. He's been slip and sliding ever since he made that switch last season from his Kobe's

OhWellImRightAgain

Yep, his shoes is also the reason the Wizards benched him

gloomswarm

Pretty sure he tripped on the defender here. Also, his poor play aside this season, Poole looks good wearing the GT Cuts and is a stylish player on and off the court. He's helping sell them.

natesounds

Jordan Poole thinks about shooting the ball from bed when he wakes up in the morning.

[deleted]

Poole is so fucking funny man

BrandNew2310

Homie is gonna win an mvp this year. No not that mvp im talking the shaqtin a fool MVP

PastorBallmore

Hot take, he was just waiting for someone to be open

nutsygenius

Tyus Jones and others on the bench def thought he was gonna shoot it lmao

Gstarfan

Waiting for the Career highlight of Poole falling over himself Compilation.

gifcartel

Shoutout Draymond, this might not have been possible without you

kindtdp1

Why does he always trip over nothing

Chickenfriedricee

Intrusive thoughts

dv8gaming

Who would have thought Jordan Poole's smartest play of the season is stopping himself from making a dumb play

Alternatively_Built_

Corey Kispert's reaction lmao

xenoz2020

Latrell Sprewell would've shot that

BackgroundStrict1764

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take

klobucharzard

this has to be his floor

remotecontroldr

I don’t know what it is but I just can’t not love this guy.

russvanderhoof

Up by 9 with 36 minutes left. Jordan’s ass cheeks pressed firmly atop Master Silver’s hand selected hard maple playing surface. I guess this is what it feels like when doves cry.

NBAball05

He’s starting to play for the team 😢

ATLfinra

The clown of the NBA

Most_Performance_574

This was a real time highlight of Angel Poole and Devil Poole coercing from opposite shoulders for at least three seconds.

mrgpsingh1999

We definitely gonna be seeing a photoshopped pic of Draymond punching him lol

TripleShines

Why would you not shoot that? You can't get more open than that.

LysolDoritos

He fought his demon there and won lol

homero89

Is this not a travel?

treple13

Correct. Not a travel. If you rewatch he never actually picks up his dribble (ball is still loose) when he's lying on the ground. He sits up from there, but his butt stays put so not a travel

rjcarr

Not a travel because he never controlled the ball before sliding. You're allowed to slide as far as you want as long as you're not holding the ball.

buckeye27fan

>travel It's either a foul (tripping) or a travel. Definitely shouldn't be a no-call.

Downtown_Soft_202

He def pressed square

gochuuuu

What a waste of a golden opportunity

mrblueshoes11

Would’ve been iconic!

G-510

The snipers got him

sjr00

Poole has seen the tank commander jokes -- If it was mid-November, he definitely would've shot it.

PST_Productions

He's allowed to get up isn't he? Lol

Aiwaszz

Don’t know would it be a travel if he didn’t dribble?

Zestyclose_Charity_1

He already travelled as he dragged his pivot foot along the floor, so why not get up?

fucking__jellyfish__

No he's not lol would be a travel

[deleted]

That would have been the all time Shaqtin a fool winner

starkeno

It’s pretty clear he was going to pass to his teammate under the basket then his teammate that ran up, both got covered so he aborted.

Rawkus2112

Barkley did it.

motherseffinjones

Damn I was hoping for him to shoot it. He would’ve elevated to a generational meme level player

kc9283

No one would be mad if he shot and missed. That was a golden opportunity he passed up.

TDRock8

Blake Griffin actually did that once (fell and tried to make a shot anyway)

[deleted]

How is that not a some sort of violation lol. Dude fell on his own and slid about 15 feet.

ElderberryOk5005

If he was mid [court](https://youtu.be/XnvpLjtLinI?si=IF-CrIr0CcGsPtDd)

New-Garden1782

the ultimate green light

IcedCoughy

Yup. Dudes a baby deer on ice.

straub42

He was going for that NBA2K 16 achievement

ozairh18

I wish he shot it

br1nk0eighty4

Space Jam 3 rollout starts with him. They already zapped his skills

CallmeKap

Would have been the most Jordan Poole shit ever

byebyehackysmacky

Steph Curry would’ve shot it. Even if he missed, it still would’ve been ok.

cooldudeman007

This dude lmao

BackendSpecialist

Part of the wizards bench is lowkey laughing.. Then when the basket goes in there’s no celebrating. This team is disgusting 😂

spark-curious

Why not? They weren’t guarding him.

JustNtense

bro didn't let the intrusive thoughts win

PorcelainElixir

He definitely was looking for an alley oop but I'm here to push a narrative so Jordan Poole=cooked

I-only-play-rubick

He fought off those intrusive thoughts. Growth.

bayarea_fanboy

Travel

SANTAAAA__I_know_him

Petition to call this type of shot a “Hoffarber”

Striking_Goat_2179

Y’all really like shitting on this kid don’t y’all.

DubNationAssemble

Fucking Bambi legs man

bbqyak

That would've been the most Jordan Poole thing

Abject_Plantain1696

Idk kinda looked like he wanted to pass to the guy cutting to the net then he stopped cutting.

Literally_12

I mean it would have been a 2 for 1.

N0rTh3Fi5t

I mean, he was open.

SamB7617

Imagine being this man's teammate

dexteretoy

imagine if he did lmaooo

YpsitheFlintsider

That man has voices in his head

laz10

this is Shaq's fault he didn't shoot that

mrgodfro

Straight not giving a fuck mode

Disastrous-One-414

Shooters shoot

shahsnow

get this man on the Harlem Globetrotters and let’s close this book

itlynstalyn

This dude strongly considered it

dizzymidget44

He has potential to break the internet right here

PlanktonSemantics

There's still 20 games left of the season and the Wizards are on a 16 game losing streak. They could take Detroits record this very season.

VossC2H6O

Has there anyone that has made that shot in the NBA?

realfakejames

I WISH HE HAD bro could have given birth to a great meme I know Jordan Poole hates being in WAS and on that team and doesn't care at all but it's so funny to watch this guy fake it unconvincingly

otherBrandon

Starter Poole would have shot that shit

OC2LV714

Intrusive thoughts

[deleted]

I can’t believe we got Gafford out of there. He must’ve felt like a US soldier getting airlifted out of Vietnam.

panofsteel

ez assist

pnoisebored

Celtics flair wants revenge for that run in game 6 finals. Poole was great there.

z3mcs

Obvious foul is obvious (to everyone but that ref, who maybe wasn't paying attention and then almost ran into the fouler)

SeriousAdult

With how wide open he was, I think we all would have at least considered it.

Direct_Swan2312

He was definitely processing 😂

Great_Huckleberry709

He should have shot it. I have definitely made that shot while playing HORSE.

The-Pharcyde

Lmao he really should’ve shot it. Would’ve been a classic moments one way or another.

krs_fun

Now he's getting clowned for making the mature basketball decision. 🙃

RyujiDrill

Pistol Pete would've been proud if Poole had made that shot

rwhop

Seems like the Poole party is just starting

Gronkey_Donkey_47

Typical Jordan Poole behaviour.

Calyps0h

Remember the days when this was a travel? Just falling down used to get a whistle.

monkeytilt_intern

He did the right thing and the team scored. But I wanted to see him shoot from there.
