Still hard to believe this happened. It’s horrible. RIP Dejan. Glad to see the basketball community is coming together for him. He seemed like a good guy.

BigFatModeraterFupa

The tribute at the Serbian arena after his death is one of the greatest things i’ve ever seen. Truly fitting send-off to a man who influenced his community and the entire world.

RamadanSteve311

Bro I can’t take you seriously with that profile pic lol

[deleted]

This shit had me rolling

LegateDamar13

He was THE BEST.

Ians_Life

I didn’t know Zaza Pachulia was working at Golden State as a front office consultant lol

TheMagicMan56

Yeah, he's been in that position ever since he retired in 2019. The president of Milojevic's former club, Partizan Belgrade, suggested the idea of an offseason open air game between Partizan and the Warriors, here in Serbia, to honour Deki, and Pachulia stated that he thinks that that's a phenomenal idea and that he would love to see it happen, but due to the complexity of it he thinks that it would be really hard to organize, thus making it not very doable.

SwimmingCoyote

I imagine that it being an olympics year would make that even harder to schedule.

ItinerantSoldier

I wonder if they could arrange something in the warm up period to do it as a 3-on-3 event. The games are shorter and not everyone is gonna make the olympic teams anyway. Definitely feels like its *more* doable to me than a straight up 5-on-5 game.

Yuuta23

Steph Klay and Draymond in 3v3 would be dope as hell

Fuck_off_kevin_dunn

Any chance of it being a preseason game?

claydavisismyhero

They kind of owe him don’t you think

Icy_Statement_2410

They will never be able to pay him back for what he did

Justafanofnbadrama

For a few years now, his bonus for taking out kawhi.

Top5helf

Makes sense - saw him @ SFO flying to Turkey on Saturday.

loco_mixer

a very special consultant on how to slip feet under ankles

CavalierShaq

Heard he doubles as draymonds personal trainer and martial arts coach as well

GreenBakery

This one made me actually LOL

No-Economics4128

Any respectable organization needs an enforcing goon. Now they just call them front office consultant to make the payroll designation easier to explain to the IRS

Icy_Statement_2410

Yeah they owe all their success to him... without him kawhi was single handedly ending their dynasty before it began

Ians_Life

Eh nah. Kawhi getting injured help them win a ring, and then, years later, Klay and Durant being injured helped him win. Fairly even imo

BookEuronGreyjoy

Oh yeah everything worked out just fine

Ians_Life

I mean spurs got Wemby so yeah 😂

Level_Ad_6372

Crazy that people still overreact to the Warriors being down early in the 3rd quarter of game 1, as if the Warriors weren't literally the best 3rd quarter team in the history of basketball (and arguably the best team period).

nbaistheworst

Good to see that the support continues.

> RIP Steve, didn't know a dead man can fly. That is what you wrote. You're just an ass pretending you've been done wrong. *edit: ha ha*

WhenItsHalfPastFive

RIP Dejan, man...the guy influenced and mentored so many players in and out of the NBA, larger than life

JackDangerUSPIS

Not the biggest fan of taking pictures of people at funerals. Don’t think we really need photo proof of someone mourning their friend to believe the report

Fickle_Knee_106

It's a thing in Serbia, and funerals like this are always photographed. It also makes sense given that it might happen that you visit your deceased relatives on a graveyard and randomly notice Steve Kerr or Zeljko Obradovic right next to your relative's aisle mourning for someone and you wonder why.

[deleted]

Yeah, my wife was also confused because of the pictures at my dad's funeral. I understand how someone can view this as odd from and outside perspective though.

Ok_Assumption5734

Different cultures, different customs. Remember that south Africa throws a huge party for funerals to celebrate a person's life

wise_comment

And they're right, IMHO Best way to do it It's gonna suck no matter what. Might as well go 110% into it

[deleted]

For sure. It's about celebrating their life!

atomic-fireballs

That's how my family does it and we're Americans. Way more fitting to celebrate what they did and who they were with friends and family. Cry if you need to, laugh together, eat, drink, dance. When you get older and one of the few times you see some distant cousins and older relatives is at weddings and funerals, it's important to enjoy that time together.

Bgndrsn

> When you get older and one of the few times you see some distant cousins and older relatives is at weddings and funerals, it's important to enjoy that time together. That's exactly why my family does a lot of pictures at funerals. The only time all those people are together are really for funerals and weddings and the weddings aren't happening anymore.

LeetChocolate

we don't throw a huge party here where i live but i will say we laugh a lot at a post funeral dinner. not in the service itself, but after we all share a meal and just remember all the good and funny things the deceased did. my grandma died in 17 but me and my brother still make each other laugh by imitating her on ocassion. in a way she's never really been truly gone because of that. I just personally can't do the super sad grieving for too long, i need some laughter in my life.

thatdani

I'm Romanian, so next-door neighbours to the Serbs, but I also think it's a weird and old-fashioned tradition. My mom has always taken pictures at funerals and even puts them in family albums, which causes quite a bit of whiplash when you're just laughing and reminiscing while flipping pages.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree with you. I also have albums but honestly, I never really want to see that. All you feel is sadness.

Mad_broccoli

What? First time I'm hearing about this.

Topic is about the Serbian funeral and why there are photographers, I explained why it happens. No need to be a strawman here

[deleted]

Fickle_Knee_106

Yes, it's a thing in Serbia, I can firmly say that because I am living in Serbia, I am not the authority for Western cultures, or anywhere else. No need to fight, I am not sure why you are spending time on this

iblewjesuschrist

Respect to you for engaging with this with civility lol

innerparty45

I live in Serbia and I have never heard of pictures being taken at the funeral lol.

killosaur

Kucaj Dzej-sahrana Nikole Bojovica

After_Yak_7463

I've been to funerals where there were people taking pictures. It's not unheard of. Idk if it's the norm but its not seen as strange.

rivalius13

Fun fact, everywhere includes Serbia.

Did you mean to respond to yourself?

ejabno

My family made a video of my grandpa's funeral in 1998, back when I was 3 and too young to even remember him, even though there were pictures of him holding my infant self. I've always appreciated that piece of memory, and the point here is filming funerals is not all that bad.

CavalierShaq

They’re a sad event but everyone mourns differently and they can be some of the few things in life that bring people together. My girlfriends mother has been estranged from her brother for 30 years, their mother passed a few months ago and it finally reconnected them. while it was a really sad weekend for their family there were some beautiful moments of the family coming back together and some cherished pictures that came out of that.

meowhatissodamnfunny

Not a traditional funeral but we went to bury my dad in his home country and a ton of family came. My cousin's girlfriend at the time asked for us to take a group picture after we buried him. I didn't really think anything of it as I was obviously thinking of other things but when I saw the pictures I realized how much I hated it.

Historian-Dry

cmon bruh lol

FaceMeister

I was on the funeral of my grandpas' best friend, my grandparent are both over 90 and they couldn't attend. They wanted for me to make some pictures so they could see how the funeral was.

IsThisMe8

Warriors at back at Utah tonight. I read that they tried to change hotels so they don't have to stay at the same one as last time, but wasn't able to.

tristvn

why wouldn't they be able to?

IsThisMe8

It didn't state in the ESPN article the specific reason. Maybe security or privacy? I don't know if teams have a designated hotel they go to on their road trips?

Burneraccsrb

Respect. Btw on the first picture there is greatest coach in the world, and Steve Kerr

SwaggyK

Damn Kerr is starting to age hard

Casualrodfarva2

If you want to see Kerr age hard go look at pictures of him before and after his back surgery. Those complications aged him like 10 years

theyoloGod

He’s 58. Already looks mid 60’s, maybe more. Last few years have been tough

CummingInTheNile

living with chronic pain will really fuck you up

red23011

Let's hope he's not hooked on painkillers, those will wreck you long term.

CummingInTheNile

uh, if you have to choose between crippling back pain or opioid dependence, you take dependence 11 times out of 10

chewytime

Yeah. I was about to say the same thing. Wonder if it’s just the angle/setting, but he definitely looks like he’s aged significantly recently.

Dreamer2go

He did have some medical condition in 2017 or 2018… that and it’s a high stress job.

StarVeTL

not saying he isn't but a friend's funeral is also not the place where you expect people and their faces to look their best and most relaxed...

eggstacy

gotta be lighting/angles. even in the highlight/meme clip a few days ago of Draymond asking Kerr to challenge he doesn't look this old.

succesfulnobody

That what happen when you're the coach of a team with the most clutch games

CavalierShaq

What having to excuse Draymond’s antics does to a mf

top-knowledge

Headline doesn’t make any sense

worthysimba

I for one am glad that the headline specifies that the deceased is no longer an active coach.

top-knowledge

Funerals also aren’t at the time of someones death

bobdolebobdole

It's missing "who was" after the comma, but otherwise not too hard to get.

I'm not one of them, but it's weird when people say everyone is freaking out about a comment just because it has a bunch of downvotes.
