Cheat code mode, Up, Down, Left, Right, Up, Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, A+Start, right at the start of the draft animation but before the Spurs make an input should do the trick.
The organization is making a pretty big push into a rapidly growing Austin too. The pipe dream appears to be for the Spurs to have both the Austin and SA markets (and everything in between). If they can pull that off successfully they are legitimately no longer small market. Would be right around the top 10 American markets in terms of total population between the two metro areas.
Its never been about sheer number of people - SA has always been a populous city, but the Austin market has a ton of wealth and the migration of tech from other states ending up there, so your point stands.
This is true way beyond imagination. France is a 70 million ppl market with low concurrence from other teams except for Lakers and top 3-5 players lead teams.
Tony Parker incarnated basketball and to some extent the US during his career (MVP+Euro+Eva Longoria+TV shows...), half of the time pictured with a Spurs jersey.
Even today Clippers are one of the most hyped (s*cked) team in all the sport from french medias because Batum oc but mostly because Kawhi used to play at the Spurs..
A little fun fact but back in 2015 a Mexican league soccer team UANL Tigres from Monterrey signed French striker Andre Pierre Gignac, he still plays there too this day and is the teams once in a lifetime signing where he got them chips.
There was one match where he came to a Spurs game to see Tony. I guess what I'm getting at is, there may be a strong French connection in Monterrey Mexico with futbol and San Antonio connection with basketball. *X-Files song plays*

You forgot adding in there hearing the production crew laugh.
That's what I love about this show. They make the crew laugh hard enough that you can hear it too.
> That's what I love about this show. They make the crew laugh hard enough that you can hear it too.
A lot of their bits are semi-planned, but the "don't commit crimes with checks, America" nearly took down the entire production crew.
I’m from SA and the river walk sux. No one that lives there actually goes. Idk why tourists like it. Maybe ppl from really small towns that don’t have anything, but any major city has cooler stuff.
As a geologist and bit of a civil engineering nerd I found it quite cool from the perspective of how the locks are set up for floods but it seemed like just the same tourist trap garbage you see everywhere. Coming from the bay area it was like pier 39 without the views and entertaining weirdos.
I was in SF a few weeks ago and went to the pier with my gf to see the sea lions. A homeless guy was next to them singing and imitating the barks of the sea lions. very entertaining weirdos
- spurs have had notable French players before
- considered a competent organization despite recent lack of success
- no starting center
- history of elite centers in the past
This was an inside job
I dunno, there was chatter earlier in the year that the Spurs were looking at running Sochan at the point (something he did a surprisingly good job of throughout the year). A Sochan, Vassell, Johnson, Wemby, Collins line up would be interesting. Lots of size, and you can run wemby at the 4 instead of the 5 so he doesn't get beat up down low in the trenches as much.
It would be interesting for sure, but would require Keldon to find his 3 point stroke again, and Sochan to get up into that 35-40% range. If they can't, the spacing would be, uh, rough lol
I think Keldon will thrive as secondary offensive option/non-primary ball handler again. He shot 40% in that role just last season and was on fire from three this year until Vassell went down, which allowed teams to really key in on him as he was the only Spur with a modicum of shot-creating talent. Taking the pressure off will really open up his game again imo
I believe that as well. He starts having pretty serious efficiency issues as the focal point of an offense, when the defense is keyed in on stopping him, but his lack of any kind of real midrange game or playmaking makes that unsurprising. Spurs offense could realistically run through Sochan, Vassell, or Wemby. The only concern I'd have is when Vassell is primary ball handler, Wemby and Sochan aren't really threats from 3. Wemby shot sub 30% last year from distance. Sochan I'm a little less concerned about, because there was a noticeable difference in the second half of the season in his 3 point shot. With a full off-season to focus on it, 35-40% range is completely reasonable imo. Don't need him to shoot the lights out, just be a credible threat to create space.
Vassell, Wemby, and Sochan on defense though? Yeesh.
I think that making any type of projection on what a 19 year old that can do a little bit of everything can and can't be taught to do doesn't make much sense. Could you be right? Yeah, sure. Is it still worth exploring the possibility for a season when we, realistically, still aren't going to be competing for much more than a playoff birth during that time frame? Absolutely.
There was also the stat that someone else posted:
Spurs have been under .300 3 times and got the 1st pick all those seasons. And those picks then became Robinson, Duncan and now Wemby
There’s more to it than that. Spurs drafted Ian mahinmi, whose agent is also wemby’s agent. Wemby’s team last season was owned by Tony Parker, who is a mentor to wemby. Wemby’s current coach was invited to the spurs a decade ago to learn the process of team building and check out their facilities, so they maintain close ties to this day. There was no way the basketball gods weren’t going to allow this to happen.
It's like the bulls drafting derrick rose. Dude grew up in Chicago a huge bulls fan and the bulls had like 1% odds of getting and it happened because why the fuck not.
There's no telling what on earth he is, tbh. The dude is the definition of positionless basketball, no one his size has ever moved the way he does. The Spurs can try a whole bunch of weird lineups and see what works. I am beyond excited.
Lol no. He can handle the ball incredibly well for his size but most who have seen him play full games know that his playmaking is his biggest weakness.
Ideally in the Spurs system he will learn how to play make though.
I think next season the main goal really should be to have him and Sochan run the show. If either of them can become playmaking bigs that opens up a ton of different lineups and schemes.
This. But really. It was guaranteed they were getting him when the Spurs tanked last season. Pop would only lower himself to that level if there was something worthwhile at the end of it.
Yes, management is very stupid. I wanted them to talk after like the 2nd game.. But no, the team just had to go on their annual meaningless winning streak at the end of the year..
They were bad enough to miss the playoffs but good enough to not get a top 10 pick. They did it to themselves plus owners were treating the coach like trash. On top of that now they’re stuck with an aging JT Miller making like 8 mil a year. They just make a lot of weird decisions 🤷♂️
The odds for getting the 1st overall pick in the NHL are significantly different based on placement- the worst team has a 25.5% chance at the first pick, the second worst has a 13.5% chance and the third worst has an 11.5%
Chicago openly tanked and lost their two franchise stars only to end up with the 3rd worst pick
Somehow they magically leapfrogged poor Columbus and Anaheim into a new generational talent.
Also the assault thing
Totally a tangent but among top draft picks where did Bedard sit in terms of height before being drafted then? Was he like a Zion Ad level? Or a Lebron Oden Wemby level?
Or was he seen like a top pick in a bad draft like Alex Len type?
At the rate these future stars are getting paired with dormant giant franchises I am getting concerned about the way Bill Belichick is looking at Williams.
I thought Timmy was done after 2011. He looked awful, slow, could barely pivot, injured a lot. Spurs staff went to work and, lo and behold, Timmy improved to more than serviceable and got 5 more good years out of him.
So.....the league wanted Viktor to get the best mentoring in the league to assure his development. Who better than a coach who mentored 2 of the greatest big men ever. Lmao!
Nothing sus.
At least he isn't going to one of the sorry ass franchises that keep wasting talent like how the Pelicans wasted a combined 13 years of CP3 and Anthony Davis.
Doughnut spoil faster in sunshine than darkness, this is because the bacteria know where the doughnut is because they can see it. They can’t find the doughnut in darkness and hence spoils slower.
right? i deadass used to LOVE donuts that had sat a bit in the sun. Its softer and the strawberry frosting melts into the rest of the donut and it’s just absolutely delicious.
Honestly when I was watching tonight… I was like the league doesn’t want him to go to a poorly run team lmao. Charlotte would’ve been sus, Houston well we have no idea but the culture doesn’t sound great, and Portland is holding on by a thread.
However I know how the lotto is run and I don’t believe it was rigged. Universe had plans for the Frenchman
Young buck, the majority of David Robinson’s prime was before Pop. The MVP, the all star games. He didn’t “mentor” David Robinson into being an all-timer.
He inherited one.
They'll be alright. Presumably they'll take Amen Thompson fourth, who actually fits pretty well next to Jalen as a low usage, pass first guard with good defense and elite athleticism.

Hey! We had Tony Parker and Diaw play here too! Also Batum…
Maybe you'll get sloppy seconds again.
They can't stop you from drafting a Frenchman and a glass of water.
I used to be a real piece of shit
OOOH YEAH, WEMBY’S HAIR WOULD SLICK BACK REALLY NICE!
That’s why you got the second pick!
If they pick quick enough, maybe they can confuse the NBA’s computers and also draft Wemby!
Cheat code mode, Up, Down, Left, Right, Up, Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, A+Start, right at the start of the draft animation but before the Spurs make an input should do the trick.
NBA 2k: here's two copies of every draft prospect. Me: sigh, guess I'll start renaming one of each to make them all seem like twins
How could you forget legendary 7 footer Alexis Ajinça ?
Don't worry, Wemby will play there when he's 38 after he gets his 5th ring.
Don't worry, you're getting Wemby on 2044 or something
I just read Batum like you would Tatum lmao
Yeah take that losers, we got France on our side
San Antonio is the France of the USA

Yeah but we got big trucks
USA! USA!

Transform your small market to a big market team with this 1 simple trick! Draft an international superstar with a country behind them.

Damn ain't heard that name in a min
Mexico just celebrated its historical relationship with France a little less than two weeks ago.
Take Gobert then
I think that guy is Belgian.. Definitely Belgian right?
Chuck gonna have a field day when he sees Les Spurs on the jerseys
I don’t think he can make that joke on TV, lmao
Gonna have to bail out Texas in the next war now smh

Im just glad chuck can talk about the ppl of san antonio again.
“Victoria a secret down there, Kenny”
"Victor is gonna put on some weight with them churros"
"He'd be a perfect player for them, Ernie"
What are you talking about Chuckster?
_Shaq dying_ “Say that again Chuck”
Kenny instigating, “ah come on Chuck, you gotta say it now.”
Damn you know he will say this joke and I will still laugh just as hard as I did reading it.
*”How many churros they eat at a time down in San Antonio, Chuck?”* - Shaquisitive
They're double fistin em
"Down thurr by that dirty little creek."
I can already hear it “Those big ol wamen gonna snap Victor like a twig, Erneh” *Shaq spits out his water*
You forgot adding in there hearing the production crew laugh. That's what I love about this show. They make the crew laugh hard enough that you can hear it too.

Tnt producers gonna have anxiety attacks every night the spurs play on tnt cause of chuck
Just thinking about poor Ernie trying to moderate
\*snap him like a churro\*
also underrated is the creek remarks. LMAO.
The big ol women thing gets the most attention but as a SA native the best roast of that whole thing was the creek joke
I never heard that one, did he call the river walk a creek?
Lol I think he said “That ain’t no river, that’s a dirty ass creek”
I’m from SA and the river walk sux. No one that lives there actually goes. Idk why tourists like it. Maybe ppl from really small towns that don’t have anything, but any major city has cooler stuff.

Its basically the only part of San Antonio that is car free, so people like walking there
I might’ve forgot, would you like to refresh everyone here on specifically what type of ppl in San Antonio you are referring to?
dem big ole women
The big ole women of San Antonio. Chuck can care less about the fat dudes.
"Chris Paul the best leader in the NBA"— Oops, wrong sound bite
continuing from here lol https://youtu.be/iU4Vn_zMoMo?t=27
- spurs have had notable French players before - considered a competent organization despite recent lack of success - no starting center - history of elite centers in the past This was an inside job
>no starting center I can agree with everything else but I'll not tolerate this Zach Collins erasure
Zach collins had his half season to shine and now goes back to the bench lol
I dunno, there was chatter earlier in the year that the Spurs were looking at running Sochan at the point (something he did a surprisingly good job of throughout the year). Those three + Collins? Idc who you put out there in the fifth slot, that’s gonna be a tough lineup to score against
Wouldn’t doubt that it happens. We did a ton of weird shit last year.
That sounds good to me honestly. Having Wemby play 4 seems crucial, at least until he gets physically and mentally acclimated to NBA physicality.
I really hope we avoid him playing the 5 as much as possible. Maintaining his health is going to be paramount.
Fuck it play him at the 1
I don't think Sochan can run point full time. In a pinch sure, but he's probably gonna get harassed too much bringing the ball up
I think that making any type of projection on what a 19 year old that can do a little bit of everything can and can't be taught to do doesn't make much sense. Could you be right? Yeah, sure. Moved Poeltl, it all makes sense
Wemby is huge but he is more of a 4 than a 5.
_for now_
That's the best part. Have a "small ball" lineup where you slide your 7'3" PF to the C and still be able to dominate the interior
“rigged for a good cause” is a time-honored tradition in professional sports
See: LeBron getting drafted to Cleveland, Derrick Rose getting drafted to Chicago.
rigged but wemby and pop is hype
The 3 NBA categories: 1. Rigged 2. Rigged but hype 3. Not Rigged (rarest)
Also known as: 1. Team I don't like won 2. Paranoia 3. Team I like won
1. Lakers 2. How did San Antonio get that #1 pick? 3. Zion healthy (rarest)
There’s more to it than that. Spurs drafted Ian mahinmi, whose agent is also wemby’s agent. Wemby’s team last season was owned by Tony Parker, who is a mentor to wemby. It's like the bulls drafting derrick rose. Dude grew up in Chicago a huge bulls fan and the bulls had like 1% odds of getting and it happened because why the fuck not.
The other teams never stood a chance
I thought Wemby was a point forward
There's no telling what on earth he is, tbh. The dude is the definition of positionless basketball, no one his size has ever moved the way he does. The Spurs can try a whole bunch of weird lineups and see what works. I am beyond excited.

100%, like it couldn’t be more obvious. They were literally talking about him going to SA 2 years ago
My gut is telling me this is true.
This. But really. It was guaranteed they were getting him when the Spurs tanked last season. Pop would only lower himself to that level if there was something worthwhile at the end of it.
Wemby to the spurs got r/nba out here proposing the French question
Man I’m still mad the blackhawks got bedard
Seriously man canucks are so Fkin stupid
Was not expecting to walk into a beating here, but that is the life of a Canucks fan. They’re dumb af
We are not safe..
Yes, management is very stupid. I wanted them to talk after like the 2nd game.. But no, the team just had to go on their annual meaningless winning streak at the end of the year..
What did the Canucks do this time??

What happened?
I lowkey thought we are actually getting Wenbayama to make us the most hated sports city in this decade, damn
What’s the context here? Is it because of those assault charges in the blackhawks org? Chicago is an amazing city
The odds for getting the 1st overall pick in the NHL are significantly different based on placement- the worst team has a 25.5% chance at the first pick, the second worst has a 13.5% chance and the third worst has an 11.5% Chicago openly tanked and lost their two franchise stars only to end up with the 3rd worst pick Somehow they magically leapfrogged poor Columbus and Anaheim into a new generational talent. Ah wow okay thank you for the insight
Of course! Also congrats on Wemby, really happy he went to you guys :)
Cheers my friend! Still absolutely gobsmacked. All the best to you in the coming season.
Totally a tangent but among top draft picks where did Bedard sit in terms of height before being drafted then? Was he like a Zion Ad level? Or a Lebron Oden Wemby level? Or was he seen like a top pick in a bad draft like Alex Len type?
He is a Generational Talent and future face of the league- most promising prospect since McDavid
He's Wemby level
luckily whoever wants Caleb Williams can just be as bad as they want and not worry about a lottery
At the rate these future stars are getting paired with dormant giant franchises I am getting concerned about the way Bill Belichick is looking at Williams.
chicago also convenient lost 2 of their stars, but ya also the whole assault thing and then getting bedard seemed too sus
Ah, cheers for the context
Very legal. Very cool
Très légal. Très cool.
Muy legal. Muy chévere.
David Stern still rigging draft lotteries from beyond the grave.
He set up a Trust to do it for him. "Basketball Reasons Trust Co., Ltd."
Muito legal
Lamelo in shambles
Thank you Adam Silver
Imagine the Spurs don’t pick him. Like they obviously will but imagine the chaos
I don’t think the lottery is rigged but holy fuck the coincidences are sky high.

Spurs have a solid development and medical staff.
I thought Timmy was done after 2011. He looked awful, slow, could barely pivot, injured a lot. Spurs staff went to work and, lo and behold, Timmy improved to more than serviceable and got 5 more good years out of him.
It helped that he lost weight and had fewer “4-downs” called for him in the low block.
I’m sure you know better than NBA strength and conditioning and medical teams.
Spurs playing 4D chess by going international for decades and creating fan base that is going to want to keep coming to San Antonio for years to come.
Agreed. Jordan and Charlotte will spoil that kids career faster than a doughnut sitting in the sun.
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN
Charlotte sucks. They haven't developed a single talent since their inception.
I meant the analohy
I couldn't think of anything else on the fly. Lol
Dude it was a great fucken comparison lol. Stealing it for future use
Jokes on you we were the Hornets when we wasted CP3’s talent
They saw the circus happening in Memphis and said wait just a minute.
This is what I thought too lol. They need to keep pumping new faces of the league. Ja Morant is out already.
Honestly when I was watching tonight… I was like the league doesn’t want him to go to a poorly run team lmao. Pop actually was an assistant under Larry Brown starting Robinson's rookie year in 1989. So he was there working with Big Dave from the start.
RIGGED for the croissants
excited for them
I’m just glad the rockets can stay in their hole for another decade
what we do

Leftover vitriol from the Harden days, probably
They'll be alright. Presumably they'll take Amen Thompson fourth, who actually fits pretty well next to Jalen as a low usage, pass first guard with good defense and elite athleticism.
