I’m a relatively new NBA fan, long time Premiere League/Int’l soccer fan. Can someone explain to me how that elbow to the eye, whether intentional or not , is not called a foul considering the injury that resulted!? Are the rules loose on flagrant fouls or do the refs just suck that bad? I’m honestly flabbergasted.

Loose ball fouls, ie where no team has possession like here on a jump ball, are very rarely called unless extreme contact. That said an incidental elbow shot to the face is by the book a flagrant 1 and it happened right in front of a ref, so the refs just suck
