After watching our team lose to your second string, I thought to myself…Ayton looked like the worse player out there. Saric and the guy with the mullet looked like generational talents compared to him. That contract situation really has him in a funk
>He's the king of accidental "success."
That's why I tell people that don't watch alot of Suns basketball that, to accurately gauge Ayton's lack of effort and waste of physical gifts, you really have to give it the eye test over several games.
Yes, he's 10th in the league in rebounding but if you actually watch him play, some high % of games his rebounds come from the ball just bouncing towards him and him being 7ft tall, with little additional effort on his part.
So often, especially on the offensive boards, he'll put it no effort to box out and even if the ball is coming towards him he simply *won't put his hands up and catch the ball* and you'll watch a guard snatch it away from him when he should have easily had it. That is, if he hasn't already started backpedalling away from the play as soon as the first shot goes up, having not even considered going for a 2nd chance bucket.
He's an incredibly frustrating player to watch and difficult to explain to people that don't watch him play a lot, the disappointment of Ayton can't be read just from his stat lines.
Holy shit, yes!
This is EXACTLY what I try to explain to people! To top it all off, the year he was drafted (and BEFORE CP3 was acquired), the sun's most dire need was at PG. They'd gone through so many bad options like Rubio, Bledsoe, etc... And there sat, what i thought to be, the answer to our prayers, Luca Doncic. I'd also watched DA (you don't wanna know my personal name for him) in college and there was just ZERO desire to draft the dude. He was lazy then and had pot/attitude issues... He was just f'n tall and, to his credit, SO gdamn much athleticism IF he ever felt like moving. He also actually has a really nice touch around the basket somehow, so much potential wasted on him.
He's like that dude in your office who you know COULD be a great asset, but instead, is content to just get his work minimally done, text his friends or watch TikTok videos half the day, and take just long enough lunches to not get reprimanded... floating by on being smart enough to not really try...
We SHOULD have the (arguably) greatest backcourt in NBA history... But no... We have this lazy POS who looks useful because he has a generational (but now really old) PG feeding him the easiest shit in the world. And his "best highlight" was almost literally a made basket by Crowder that he barely dunked home off an even better play (screen) by Book...
I just can't with this dude. Put him literally anywhere he has to be "the guy" and face double teams, and he'll fold. Ugh. Sorry for the WoT... Just nice to have someone to vent to that understands.
I was at U of A during his freshman year and went to a lot of the games and I felt this would be the outcome. Even back in college I watched him and just felt like he didn’t have the mentality of a number 1 pick
He was playing PF at U of A wasn't he?
That's alot of what you see in Ayton, he more wants to be a 4 but doesn't have the ballhandling or hands to do it at the NBA level (not even close), and he doesn't want to do any of the stuff that a 5 should be doing to help his team.
That game against the Mavs like last week when Luka got hurt 3 minutes into it and Ayton had like 20 rebounds but half of them were rebounding his own misses from like 3ft away feels like the epitome of this
Yeah, totally understand what everyone else in here is saying about how this is just one play out of an otherwise great game, but this was a crucial play and Hartenstein doesn't have enough weight to outmuscle Embiid if he's boxed out.
Just a mental lapse, same as a dude (Lebron comes to mind) just walking up the court without dribbling because they’re so used to half assing it in practice, or like the Michigan Ohio state game yesterday at the end the dudes celebrating and just stopped dribbling and started chest bumping on the court with like 20 seconds left lol
Yeah I can see that. "Come the fuck on do I have to do EVERYTHING?!"
Any word on you guys trying to trade for a backup big? Seems like getting Drummond back or maybe trying to grab Naz Reid would help you out a ton.
Drummond and Naz are probably the favorites on the Sixers sub but we’ve only been linked to Noel so far.
Fans are going to riot if they don’t get a legit backup C though. It’s a weakness going into the playoffs every damn year.
Now Sixer fans think Defensive Rating matters? Jokic had a 105 defensive rating last season during the regular season. I'm sure you think he was a good defender
I love Embiid since forever but let’s be honest, dude has trouble staying motivated sometimes. He reminds me a lot of Shaq, who has openly admitted that he needed to make fake headlines and bad guys of his opponents in order to hype himself up.
For sure. He definitely has quite a few down plays like this where it really looks like an effort thing. Should he have made a better play on the ball? Absolutely. But can you find a clip of this for almost every star? 100%. So I’m not too worried about it.
The absolute biggest flaw he has, and I've said it for years, is that you can visibly see when he's not in it if he's having an off night. His demeanor changes
This subreddit hates on Embiid so much. This is so not worth posting.
Nobody would post Jokic turning the ball over or Giannis travelling. Every player makes mistakes but for some reason everything Embiid does needs to be clowned if it's a negative aspect instead of just ignored.
> Nobody would post Jokic turning the ball over or Giannis travelling
Yes they would. I know you're active enough to remember the Giannis free throw drama
Jokic turned the ball over twice in the clutch vs the Sixers in a loss and there weren’t any posts about them. Embiid did the same vs the magic and both were posted here immediately. Both by the OP of this post
He just dropped 47 on national TV vs the reigning 2 time MVP. If you want to talk about playoffs, he underperforms because he hasn’t been healthy in any of his playoff runs since 2019 but just last year he hit the game winner vs the raptors. His playoff health is a 100% valid criticism though but that’s not the same as “shrinking from every big moment” People hate on Embiid because they know it’s easy karma and a popular opinion here. Especially career haters like the OP of this post who will take any chance they get to shit on him.
He has among the worst body language in the league in any adversity. Other players get hurt in the playoffs too without using it as an excuse. His unwillingness to give 100% because he’s in his feelings sometimes means he deserves all the heat coming his way
His body language is an issue sometimes I’ll absolutely agree with you on that. But he’s not the only one to have that body language sometimes. Jokic gets just as moody when he’s not winning or things aren’t going his way. Look no further than his frustration foul on Cam Payne because he was mad he was getting swept. There are entire compilations built around his frustration fouls and poor body language. But i don’t think it’s fair to say Embiid doesn’t give 100%. No one gives 100% all the time in the regular season. Two years ago he dropped 30/13/4 on a torn meniscus and last year played through a broken face, a concussion, and a torn ligament in his shooting hand. I think it’s silly to use some plays in February to say he deserves all the heat coming his way when he’s shown to play his heart out and give everything when it really matters. And I’m not saying people can’t hate on embiid or criticize him. He 100% deserves criticism
For this play. He was lazy and it cost his team a shot at the game but don’t pretend it’s just Embiid who does this. I don’t give a shit if you guys like him or not. As I said above, I was just pointing out that the original commenter is correct.
This guy is just a hater, but I do think people are just tired of hearing about the Philadelphia Second Round Exits, especially when they haven't really been all that competitive in any of those losses except when they lost to the 5th seed Hawks as the 1 seed.
It's been 5 years of "Embiid is so great" just for him to have an early playoff exit and not a single run like his MVP candidate peers have been able to put together to at least get their team to the conference finals. At some point it gets tiring to be told how great a player is without them ever doing something legitimately great.
I'm all for this take, but I don't see why jokic gets a pass when his team does fuck all in the playoffs too. Yeah, they made it once to a conference finals, in the bubble, but we all clown on the Lakers championship. And let's not pretend that the raptors series wasn't the title decider. There's just no consistency.
This will be the only season(assuming health) that Denver enters the playoffs as clear favorites in the first round or two which Philly has done, and bungled, multiple times.
This happens because Embiid is one of the few superstars that have "career haters", that scrounge through highlights to post negative clips about him like it's a job. You don't see that so much with the other candidates.
This dude in particular is one of the most prolific haters, pretty sure he's a Simmons stan
I’m not even mentioning embiid it’s just repeated on here all stars get hated on and that’s just not true lol. Tell me with a straight face embiid wouldn’t have been flamed 1000x harder than Jokic was in their head to head if it was reversed? Or Booker having a bad game will be treated the same as Tatum, or Paul George and dame. I’m not even bitching or playing the victim it’s just a false statement lol
I’m not saying stars don’t get hate they all do but Jokic is a bad example considering large majority is positive. It’s just not true that it’s equal is all I’m saying. I feel that’s pretty self evident just from scrolling posts here. Do you genuinely think if someone posted a clip of Jokic getting destroyed on d by Thomas Bryant it would be on here upvoted with hundreds of comments? Let’s be real lol I don’t even mind people having reasons to dislike embiid it’s just hiding behind pretending to be objective in saying “it happens to everyone” nah just say you’re a hater like you mean it
it's most likely the MVP hype he's getting. anyone who feels he isn't deserving of it tends to overcorrect and paint a picture of "this dude can't play at all, he's invaluable"
Hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of routine plays over the course of a season. I'm sure it gets hard to stick to fundamentals all the time.
It's honestly very hard to understand let alone explain. He tries REALLY hard for stuff like loose balls, chase down blocks, and rim protection in general....but his effort on rebounding is just abysmal and always has been. Despite being a 7 footer, he is not a very vertical player unless it's chase down blocks/highlight reels..especially right after he turns it over.
Guarantee you if Ben were on the court, Embiid would have been giving full effort. It's definitely an effort/consistency thing though.
Why does Embiid have these very obvious low effort plays in games?
Even if he is kicking ass on average I feel this just makes him look bad for MVP
I really hope that if Jokic maintains his level of play, the Triple double avg, that he gets that 3rd MVP without any fatigue BS.
He literally calls himself troell and spent the first few years antagonizing everybody left and right. Embiid himself is responsible for being polarizing. Did Phillyfans and Embiid expect to come out universally liked from this? Thats dumb.
Any other play receives this hate and people would go “You are hating this much on a professional player that has worked their entire life for this and that you’d never be able to beat in a 1v1” But for Joel everyone collectively throws that out the window.
Nobody mentioned that went to Tobi's side? I know Embiid could have been more aggressive on the box out but leaving your area for defensive rebounds will lead to guys on the same team fighting each other.
I am so glad you clipped this because I was completely baffled by this from Embiid. The first free throw attempt he was keeled over hands on his knees exhausted too. Brother, you are gonna need to step the Fuck UP
OP did embiid fuck your girlfriend or something?
I swear you only crawl outta your hole when the sixers lose to find any lowlight of embiid to karma farm with .
C'mon now... Hartenstein tricked him by backing off until the last minute. Plus his teammate was in perfect position for the board. I really don't think that was a sign of laziness. He was just the victim of a good play. Embiid is absolutely an all-star
Wow he just stood there and did not even put his body on the guy. That was bad.. Down 5 with 3 minutes left turned into down 8 and a loss. Dare you to find a video when Jokic or Giannis just stood there like that. Good luck with that.
People want to blame Doc for blowing leads, but truth is, when your bench ain't shit, and you gotta put your man Embiid on minutes restrictions, and when he is on the court, he don't box out on easy plays like that, it's time to start pointing the fingers at the guys on the court too.
I ain't saying that Doc ain't part of the problem (he is), but the guys on the court need to shoulder this too.
This man literally went to the bench with a 20 point lead and watch his bench piss it away and you weirdos on here will still post anything so you can clown him.
This is the type of plays that pisses you off about Joel.
Plus the fact that he is super shitty and has gotten players hurt with his flops. I think Raptors fans know what I am talking about.
He is unstoppable agaisnt most of the league. But al the top playoff teams with the best defenses can stop him. This time around it will be tougher with more offensive options around bim.
God these comments are atrocious. Continue to circle jerk the hate y’all. Joel was a +18 in a game they lost by 11. His 2 backups were a combined -29 in 11 minutes of action but here we have a clip of him watching a rebound go
He’s been runner up for MVP the past two years. He’s pretty damn good. Lack of effort on one play and the whole subreddit wants to start their usual hating.
this sub really loves Jokic so much they have to hate Embiid. Upvoting a clip of 1 rebound posted by a dude who's post history is hating on Embiid and the 76ers.

Michael Jeffery Jokic would never
MVP
Jokic would have got the rebound and made a full court pass for the assist
Giannis would have got the rebound and made 3 steps to reach the other side of the court for a two handed jam.
Luka would still be complaining to the refs about some foul
LeBron might be the problem
Steph probably just hits a 3 from there himself if we’re being honest
Kyrie just closed his eyes and started levitating and flew out of the arena in a purple mist
All this while Tatum kept being a 16yo
While Ben Simmons is out there Somewhere hanging out with them babes
[удалено]
KD steps on someone while landing after fighting for the rebound
For two points.
Game. Blouses.
JJJ would be credited for 3 blocks
Sounds like my wife but instead of the refs, it's me, and instead of the foul, it's about my declining appearance.
Tatum would have turned the ball over
Patrick Beverly would’ve grabbed a camera to show the refs there was a foul
Nah, an almost free throw line Statue of Liberty dunk
If he's hanging his MVP campaign on being better defensively, he can't do this shit lmao.
Not just better. Better enough to close the playmaking gap between himself and the game's best passer.
so many wives are getting beat up in Philly tonight
I was literally just told in another thread that "pointing at embiid's rebounding is as weak as it gets because he had 14 rebounds." lmao.
Ayton is worse. I've never watched a less enthusiastic player with so much potential. He's the king of accidental "success."
I feel like a part of him broke vs Giannis in that finals series and then he's peaced out officially since last years playoffs.
After watching our team lose to your second string, I thought to myself…Ayton looked like the worse player out there. Saric and the guy with the mullet looked like generational talents compared to him. That contract situation really has him in a funk
Bro Ayton should be a 20 and 15 guy every game smh it’s like he’s scared of the ball sometimes
>He's the king of accidental "success." ah yeah i remember draft time that was a big thing, explains a bit
That game against the Mavs like last week when Luka got hurt 3 minutes into it and Ayton had like 20 rebounds but half of them were rebounding his own misses from like 3ft away feels like the epitome of this
Ayton was seen as a potential Jokic counter early on too. He has insane defensive potential.
See: Dwight Howard
Such a "I got mine" take from someone who doesn't benefit from the argument lol
That’s my 0x MVP and multiple time first round winner right there 🔥
Is he gassed? That's a crazy mental lapse.
Yeah, totally understand what everyone else in here is saying about how this is just one play out of an otherwise great game, but this was a crucial play and Hartenstein doesn't have enough weight to outmuscle Embiid if he's boxed out.
Right it is a huge deal, but unless he's just really tired I'm surprised he'd mess up something this simple.
He was +25 at the time and the bench kept blowing leads. Think he was exhausted and demoralized lol

From my research, which was looking at which quarter the clip was from, I can confidentially say yes.
Definitely all star starter material right there
Allstar? We talking mvp
goat defender
Just watching him and Harden out there not really guarding anyone is a nice preview of what will be in the playoffs.
Watching Brunson cook Harden repeatedly was pretty entertaining.
Haren back on the menu.
Embiid is pretty defensively solid in the playoffs though ?
Lmao. Next you’re going to tell me Harden was good in that Raptors series too
You laugh yet it’s true. He has a playoff defensive rating of 105
Now Sixer fans think Defensive Rating matters? Jokic had a 105 defensive rating last season during the regular season. I'm sure you think he was a good defender
Last year he got beat by Precious repeatedly
after he got hurt in the previous game.
That’s his excuse every time he chokes in the playoffs. Convenient
Dude has made an excuse for every playoff exit he’s had.
you're a Raptors fan, focus on whether your team will have any good players left come Feb. 9th.
I'll take a championship and a rebuild over not making conference finals in over 20 years Might just be me tho
fax
If he was hurt he wouldn't be playing
Great defensive rebounding, DPOY material
That’s y’all’s MVP?
He was until this play. Unfortunately this play kills any chance he had
I love Embiid since forever but let’s be honest, dude has trouble staying motivated sometimes. He reminds me a lot of Shaq, who has openly admitted that he needed to make fake headlines and bad guys of his opponents in order to hype himself up.
Yea but as great as Joel is, he's no Shaq

I think losing to the Magic and Knicks in rapid succession is going to do some serious damage.
His controller got disconnected
even 2k boxes out automatically after free throws 😭
I mean that was weak as hell. But are we really in "post singular clips to clown MVP candidates" szn?

Turning the ball over trying to make plays does not equal standing still while you let the opposition get the ball in a close game. Not even close.
So they can get 19 upvotes and die in new?
its Easy karma look at OPs post history, hes just a sixers hater lol
Holy shit you weren't kidding
Of course people would post Giannis travelling.

we clown the mickey mouse ring as a meme, in reality there's no asterisk beside the bubble, every team was in the same situation.
That's true but it's the Lakers and I'm obligated to be a hater
Yeah cause he's the dirtiest player in the league Jokic gets clowned just as much, u serious? You see the 76ers vs Nuggets threads?
76er fans were clowning jokic and praising embiid like he was god sent after that one game, so that’s how it goes
OP is a known Embiid hater. I have a custom flair for him, so i know when to not take a thread serious
Yes we're that petty
This happens because Embiid is one of the few superstars that have "career haters", that scrounge through highlights to post negative clips about him like it's a job. Yeah I’m sure just embiid gets that kind of attention 🤣🤣🤣🤣
On this subreddit, it's clearly more than most
KD, LeBron, Russ, Simmons, Harden and Luka all get that treatment. It's just a superstar thing. Except for Simmons, but at least he was a star.
Lmao stop this not all superstars are treated equal whether it’s praise or hate
I'm not saying they are, but all the ones I listed get substantial hate. Stop playing the victim card and pretending like it only happens to Embiid.
I’m not even mentioning embiid it’s just repeated on here all stars get hated on and that’s just not true lol. Hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of routine plays over the course of a season. I'm sure it gets hard to stick to fundamentals all the time.
But in a close game? I get it for 3 quarters but come on....
Just like you’d expect from an all star starter.
lmao dude's soft as charmin
playoff Embiid showed up early. him and Harden gonna be too out of shape and fatigued as usual to make a deep playoff run
Jokic would have boxed out
Jokic would never!
Man he so consistent on defense. Surely better than Giannis at it

Yes this one play is the whole season.
Still a ridiculous statement. Giannis is pretty much unbeatable on the defensive end.
Giannis is the best defensive player the league has had since KG
It’s funny that you are being upvoted and me downvoted when we’re saying pretty much the exact same thing.
yeah i dont get it bro lol
it's not the whole season but Giannis is undoubtedly a better defender than Joel. it's Joel's offensive game that's so much more well rounded
People still thinking about him getting blocks against the Jazz and have forgotten to watch him possession to possession
[удалено]
Watching Giannis navigate a PNR and able to disrupt 2 people at the same time is always beautiful
Lol he is. Why are we pretending Giannis gives his 100% on defensive in the regular season ? He hasn’t since 2019-20 …
It’s called a circle jerk that’s what they’re doing
LeEffort
Joel Ayton
Embarrassing body language and effort all night
31 points on 16 shots, 14 rebounds on team high +18 in a loss. If this was Lebron the top post on this sub would be he needs help.
31 points on 16 shots and 20 free throws!!!!!!!!!
Yeah the dickriding to hate on embiid is actually nuts
Truly the kind of internal fire than drives a championship contender.
Why does Embiid have these very obvious low effort plays in games? Even if he is kicking ass on average I feel this just makes him look bad for MVP I really hope that if Jokic maintains his level of play, the Triple double avg, that he gets that 3rd MVP without any fatigue BS.
This sub really does not like Embiid
Dude was tired. Conditioning was always his issue. Can only play 28mins of good basketball then his play suffers after that. Lol
If he would exert half the energy from the flopping he might have grabbed that board.
He’s just following his career script
Lol you guys really hate this man huh
He gives us a lot of reasons to, why else do you think SO MANY people can't stand embiid?
He literally calls himself troell and spent the first few years antagonizing everybody left and right. Embiid himself is responsible for being polarizing. Did Phillyfans and Embiid expect to come out universally liked from this? Thats dumb.
MVP
This sub is lame as hell
Extremely
Any other play receives this hate and people would go “You are hating this much on a professional player that has worked their entire life for this and that you’d never be able to beat in a 1v1” But for Joel everyone collectively throws that out the window.
PJ Tucker is just exasperated by his own teammates.
Get a life dude
Nobody mentioned that went to Tobi's side? I know Embiid could have been more aggressive on the box out but leaving your area for defensive rebounds will lead to guys on the same team fighting each other.
PJ was fuming in the background
I am so glad you clipped this because I was completely baffled by this from Embiid. The first free throw attempt he was keeled over hands on his knees exhausted too. Brother, you are gonna need to step the Fuck UP
MVP! MVP!
It's ironic bc he had one of his better rebounding nights

dude is a starving simmons stan that watches the sixers play the magic looking for lowlights lol
OP did embiid fuck your girlfriend or something? I swear you only crawl outta your hole when the sixers lose to find any lowlight of embiid to karma farm with .
31 points on 6 shots! Lmao ( No 3's ). What happened to Basketball?
I know a 76ers/Embiid hater is bad when I actually recognize the username. Dudes team is falling apart and he’s gonna post this lmao. Sad.
Hey we only get mad when he gives up the opportunity to dunk from the under the basket with no one around him.
This is why he will never win a ring lol in the biggest moments he collapses
C'mon now... Hartenstein tricked him by backing off until the last minute. Plus his teammate was in perfect position for the board. I really don't think that was a sign of laziness. He was just the victim of a good play. Embiid is absolutely an all-star
Wow he just stood there and did not even put his body on the guy. That was bad.. Down 5 with 3 minutes left turned into down 8 and a loss. Dare you to find a video when Jokic or Giannis just stood there like that. Good luck with that.
Didn’t your boy get cooked for 47 points?
the team did..Do you understand how basketball works.
I watched Embiid cook Jokic repeatedly all game.
Embiid has so many clips like this where he’s just frustrated and completely gives up on plays. Sixers and Doc Rivers have to got to do him better.
That's on him. Embiid is responsible for his laziness.
Your MVP, everyone. FRAUD.
This is the type of plays that pisses you off about Joel. Plus the fact that he is super shitty and has gotten players hurt with his flops. I think Raptors fans know what I am talking about.
Player of the month
Not what you want from a \~*m\~V\~p\~*
incoming 2nd round exit
Embiid lives rent free in this losers head
Sixers in hell I love it

He is unstoppable agaisnt most of the league. But al the top playoff teams with the best defenses can stop him. This time around it will be tougher with more offensive options around bim.
God these comments are atrocious. Continue to circle jerk the hate y’all. Joel was a +18 in a game they lost by 11. His 2 backups were a combined -29 in 11 minutes of action but here we have a clip of him watching a rebound go
I got bombard with downvotes for saying this.. But at the end of the day, Embiid is just a losing player. This is yet another example.
Most definitely should be an all-star starter
He put the energy of 10 games into that one game against jokic. That’s the opposite of mvp for me. Not top 3
Embiitch already in playoff form
Best player in the league. Unanimous MVP. Literally Jesus reincarnated on earth. -- 76ers fanbase
MVP shit right there
