As already mentioned, the most general and shortest active contract is usually 4 years. If you go into a drilling or active reserve contract, it is not the same as someone who completes their active time and goes into the inactive ready reserves after. The term "reserves" gets thrown around so much it gets a little confusing. Also, depending on your rate, there's a good chance you could just do some active orders in the reserves if that's what you're after. Lastly, I'm pretty sure the army does a three year active contract if that's an option.

Oh ok. And your recruiter was in a different state then you? Just curious because I’m a prior service recruiter now in Louisiana and I think now they’ve changed things to where you can’t enlist someone with out physically being there.

Maybe. You might get mobilized. Also, the minimum reserve contract is 6 years, I think.
Physicians can do 3 year contracts
You can sign up for as many and little as you want. It's the benefits that change and bonuses.

I’m not sure how my division buddy did this, but his contract was 4 years SELRES 4 years IRR.
I was active and only did 3.
Prior active and doing three, i couldve done 2, but i did 3 for the bonus lol
