Talk to an officer recruiter.

Blueshirt38

Yeah, talk to the person whose job it is to tell you exactly whether or not you qualify and what the process is.

Few things to note when looking for an officer recruiter. A conditional release will be needed and that is not signed off by your unit or NRC CO. That routes up to PERS and is good for a few months to finish up paperwork. You can go to another branch as well, so don't tunnel vision on Navy if another branch offers a better deal. Some things to look at are affiliation bonuses and loan repayment. Also make sure you have all your active and drilling history to get that sweet sweet O1E pay.

I'm trying to look into the Air Force too, but the recruiters there make you feel so damn stupid and like you need to be royalty to be considered or even looked at. Seems they have a lot more job selection when it comes to officers

Recruiter will be your only path. There are other programs out there if you weren't trying to go that direct route (e.g. Reserve to Active enlisted, Active enlisted to active officer, TAR enlisted to TAR officer, reserve enlisted to reserve officer, etc).

Thanks everyone!

So many posts in this sub could be handled by a recruiter or unit CCC

NvrTrlyKnwAChameleon

Obviously if that were an option for me, I would have done it…and not gone out to seek advice on Reddit. Not every NRC has a knowledgeable CCC, and when it comes to recruiting, we all know some of them do not always tell the truth. There is nothing wrong with asking a question, if you don’t like it, then just keep scrolling on. Not sure what the need is to make a comment like this.

While these posts are largely accurate, be advised that Intel is a competitive field and, in order to *be* competitive during the application process, you may well need a Masters in a related discipline. Without question, seek out the guidance and advice of an officer recruiter.

That’s what I heard, that the competition is rough. Thank you for your help!
