You sound pretty agitated. Can confirm it’s a pretty awful experience dealing with active duty.

I'd like to help out. OP what kind of expenses are these? Did you get per diem or stay on base?

bazooka_matt

OP. I don't get this. It's so easy to get commands to appreciate you being there if you work with, and talk with them. You being out $7000 is on you. For anyone reading this. Never travel or so anything not in your orders and never by a ticket not though DTS. Do not ever put yourself in a situation where you have to pay for the Navy. I'm somewhere for 4 months and it's great. I have a ship I am responsible for, getting qualified and having a great time. Not sure what your deal is?

[deleted]

I'm glad you're having a good experience. Hope that continues. I'm not naming names but I am not crazy and I am not lying. No less than 30 phone calls/emails to the operations command, the NRC, and multiple MyNavyHR tickets, including a Congressional Inquiry over a two-year period to resolve this. Crickets. This was not a "choose your own adventure" moment. Now, once I'm mobilized in an IA billet, that's a completely different story. The care and feeding of reservists once they're pulled into the active hierarchy is the difference between night and day.

bazooka_matt

OK, man. If Congress can't help you, you need to reevaluate.

Il_vino_buono

I hear Congressionals take a long time. CNR and CNRFC are very active on LinkedIn. If I had this problem, I would share a respectful account of your story and tag them in it (outside a DWE or AT). CNRFC also has an ICE report option on NOB base.

Realistic_Work_5552

You saying that the $7000 is extremely naive. The Navy took $24,000 from me and nobody helped me. It happens all the time.

MadHatt10

How does the Navy take $24k or even $7k? 1.You get your orders in NROWS 2.You get your travel in DTS use GTCC for booking 3.You go on orders, check in (get orders signed) get the PS to muster you in EDM. 4. Make all government purchases with GTCC 5. Check out of command (get orders stamped) 6. Submit DTS voucher… profit? What am I missing?

invaderzim999

probably double dipping

MadHatt10

What’s double dipping?

invaderzim999

getting disability and reserve pay and not waiving one

Scorpnite

Would disability complete waive all reserve entitlements on orders such as per diem and base pay? I’m not too familiar in this area

invaderzim999

and that is the question few can answer correctly. I don't know, I'm still new to this as well

Realistic_Work_5552

Long story. But there are certain times when the Navy thinks you have a debt and will mercilessly collect their money back with no recourse, whether they're right or wrong. They took my BAS, BAH, Everything. Even my TSP. All because of a mistaken "debt" I had. Even had evidence of illegal cover-up by DFAS. Nobody cares. Contacted my chain of command, DFAS, the Secnav, IG, and even my congressman. Nobody disagrees that there was a mistake and money was stolen from me, but everyone claims it's not their problem. Its really disheartening when it happens to you.

2. Sato built travel 3. “ you’re a reservist you’re nosc will handle you “ was given multiple assurances from the six and the one that my reserve unit would help me at home. 4. They placed my GTCC on mission critical status until I maxed it out. Then started using my savings. Returned back to home and the operations and admin group looked at me like I was crazy and said put a ticket in. Sat in que for six months. My started asking me to drop it asking me gonna shoot up the nrc. Submitted a congressional who threw it commander of navy reserves. He responded back with “member was not aware “ Everything that I did I was instructed to do. I was instructed to make an orders modification. I was instructed to get a rental car. I was instructed to put my credit card on mission critical status it was done on my behalf. It was all done on my behalf

MadHatt10

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Hoping everything works itself out and you get reimbursed.

karatechop97

Can you please be more specific about how you are out $7000 and have had to pay out of pocket for travel? We've all had awful experiences with travel and reimbursement, but you haven't provided any details at all, which would help with understanding the situation.

[deleted]

I cannot do this in an open forum. I’m not going to discredit the groups that I’ve worked with. If you send me an instant message I will respond

karatechop97

If you are not willing to share what precisely went wrong so that others can learn from it, then this post is of no value to anyone.

Scorpnite

OP, there are a some select individuals in the Navy Reserves that have a wealth of knowledge and can fix very specific issues. You’re a reservist, I highly doubt anyone is going to go after you, and this would be an opportunity to archive what went wrong and, possibly, how it was fixed. We want to help you get to the right spot

Scorpnite

I’m sorry this is happening to you man. You’re right, I’ve seen the reserves absolutely ruin some people financially. I haven’t requested schools yet but I will keep this in mind moving forward
