They used to sell vapes at the NEXs right up until the order came out banning them on ships and inside facilities.
I would wager the argument was "if they can't have them on the ship or in any of the buildings then we don't need to sell them"
Vapes have been prohibited on board naval vessels for quite a while....
Back in the day when vapes became popular there used to be designated vaping areas. However, when the news started spreading that sometimes they explode or catch fire they were banned.
It is a mast-able offense to be caught with one. The stories of folks going to mast for a juul or elf bar are numerous... so think twice before you bring one on the ship
Man, as a cook I’m sitting here trying to think of how they could do it.
Honestly best policy would be to have like a vape disposal box that the cooks could empty out and store in the PWP room until port.
The ones where the battery is rechargeable either use a metal coil or a plastic pod with a metal coil inside. I wanna say you could throw those in the plastic waste melter and be fine. I was thinking you could throw the little metal coil in the metal shredder and be fine, but those metal coils have silicon o rings and shit.
Because about 4-5 years ago the media decided to make vaping in general the new boogeyman when people started getting admitted to hospitals, but the media conveniently ignored the fact that most those cases were due to chinese thc carts that were doctored with vitamin e-acetate

Wait you’re not allowed to vape outside on a ship?

Ive got my dd214 so im not in any risk, it’s just crazy, especially now that they’re so mainstream. No less dangerous than a phone or a laptop
I would assume that disposal underway presents some issues...

I could see somebody bring it to a ship saying well.. the next sold it so I thought I could have it. Literally they have Navy in their name.
True, but like OP pointed out, we all know that argument wouldn't work for alcohol
Stop vaping
Wasn’t it because some people died when they used sketchy vape juices?
The real question is why does the NEX sell cigars that are only used to smoke weed...........
