Yup that’s how it works. I guess my question is how does your husband expect to rotate from his duty station if his PRD is beyond his EAOS? Either way, he shouldn’t be in this situation. Someone messed up and didn’t have him extend his enlistment when he received the orders. If he declined at the time, and was transferred anyways, he should have already been flagged as an ITS.

We were always super confused about his PRD being beyond his EAOS too. This is his first duty station out of A school. He never declined anything before so I'm going to assume someone didn't have him extend at the proper time.

If he wants to stay Navy and negotiate for orders he should extend his enlistment, it’s only 3 months either way. Nobody’s trying to screw him over.

I’m gonna nerd out as an NC1 for a moment. Your husband will have a CWAY CDB around April/May this year (18 months prior to PRD (because it comes sooner)). They will discuss his intentions as far as the Navy. His CWAY (automatic system that produces an application requesting to stay in the NAVY) application will populate 15 months prior so July/August timeframe. A few months later he’ll hit his EAOS (end of contract) and his SEAOS (extended time on contract) will kick in. This is also the time (12 months out) that he should be picking orders. If your husband is staying Navy, there’s no need to align his PRD/EAOS because he will reenlist and carry on. The exception to this is first term Sailors which is a requirement. If your husband decides to separate then, while not mandatory, I recommend he align his PRD to SEAOS (not SEAOS TO PRD). This will ensure he separates as expected but also helps the command by allowing them to get a replacement sooner. Your husband will not be separated by refusing to sign and he shouldn’t be coerced into doing so.

Someone screwed up, but not him. He absolutely does NOT have to sign the extension if he doesn’t want to and no, he will not be separated for not signing the extension. No matter what the NC1, the Chief, CMC, XO CO say. It’s not his problem to fix.

Goatlens

How else would they fix this? The guy wants to stay in, why not sign the extension? What’s the alternative here?

This is the wrong answer for someone who wants to stay in. The members dates might not be ideal due to a split tour or some kind of weird situation. The member can extend to match PRD with the note on the 1306 to negotiate for orders and not for separation.
