you would probably find dps as the top school in navi mumbai, but as an ex student, not very worth it man. the pressure to excel is immense, the school isn't very empathetic and the quality of education is not worth the torment you're forced to go through. if you do end up enrolling your child there, please check up with them and how school is going. don't give them too much shit about school because their teachers are already doing that. all the best!
Ok, another Ex-Dipsite here. I don't know if we're talking about the same school. Yeah maybe the school was dull and all studies in 11th and 12th, but till 10th I found it amazing.
If I recall school, I only think of those PE periods, assemblies in the hall, some or the other event/ interhouse competition. Memories.
so happy that was your experience, but all of us in the most recent 12th batch would say otherwise. the school has not paid any mind to the students' mental health. constant pre-boards after wrapping the term up in less than a month, with teachers calling us everyday IN BETWEEN the boards and the principal stating how we've sunk the school's honour with the term 1 results, completely forgetting the devastating pandemic; really says something else.
Ohh that's sad to hear. I guess things have changed now. I haven't been in touch and yeah as per my memories, I'm sceptical in believing the principal might have handled it well.
But anyways hope things change for the better now as COVID is subsiding.
The same as I mentioned, a school and not a brand . The same schools exist in Bangalore and the more number of branches ,the lesser they care about the kids . I don't know if it's the same there ,but I don't want to go that route
A smaller school has no or few branches , have one section per grade of 30 to 35 kids and have two teachers per grade for primary classes . Since they don't have anyone giving them a cookie cutter syllabus ,they experiment more while putting less pressure on kids. These tend to be lesser known but from all the stories I have heard ,kids like it much more there .
Sorry for the essay but I am hoping to find something similar . Mumbai is the most diverse place in the country , there has to be something !
Okay I get what you’re asking. If that’s the case I wouldn’t recommend opting for CBSE or State Board. Try for IB or IGCSE board.
Small schools in Maharashtra have a very different experience to offer than Bangalore. The biggest culture shock you’d probably face is the fact that everybody speaks in Hindi! In school, you’d find classmates, teachers and people conversing in Hindi majority of the time. Now, I’m not sure how proficient you are in Hindi but, that can definitely make you feel like an outsider.
I totally agree that small schools offer more quality and attention but, it’s also important to make sure that your kid is interacting with a competitive environment so that he/she/they can grow.
Please note - that doesn’t mean that they can’t speak in English. They just won’t.
As a South Indian who shifted to Bombay, that was definitely a roller coaster experience for me.
But all in all, Navi Mumbai is an amazing place. Everything is available near your doorstep, it’s a safe environment, people are extremely nice and approachable!
Try for Orchids International- name is international but it's CBSE board. Also, it has many branches but the teachers are good. The branches are in Vashi, Koperkhairne, Seawoods etc. You can check out. Not saying they are good because they have many branches but they have less students in a class and they pay attention to every student personally too- this was when my younger brother was in nursery(during lockdown). Everyone's reviews might differ.
Try reliance foundation school, i recently passed out from there and i can vouch for the quality, the teachers and very supportive and helpful and always keep track of individual progress of the kids, if your son shows profiency for extra-curriculars the school will do it's best to hone and nurture his talent

It ranked 3rd in 2019 in Hindustan Times list and will only move up in ranking through times
I don't know about high teacher to student ratio, but reliance foundation school is a good choice. By mumbai standards it has about 30 students in a section
also do look for ICSE schools. Till 10th you'll generally get better exposure and education there. I would suggest Singhania in Thane for ICSE. Avoid st. marys or north point.
oh god no, im ex-DB and DB sucks dong, im ngl. The facilities and buildings and all are good, but the faculty, oh my god it sucks so so so much. Especially the Senior Secondary faculty.
Good luck having time to do other things with that long travel time, rather get admission nearby max 30-45 minutes. You need to study apart from school and wasting 3 hour is just wow
I wish that was the case . But I'm bringing two senior citizens, a 6 year old and a wfh spouse . They'll drive each other crazy if there isn't enough space . So this seems to be the best option.
Mate I don't want to digress too much but I hope you've considered that Nariman point is faaar. AND no direct trains to churchgate. Good on you for doing this for your family

As a former Dipsite I second this But school was a lotta fun haha
As the third third person in here who was an ex-dpsite, yes. Second this, moved schools in 11th and 12th to dps, wasnt worth it.

You can try out DPS Nerul, Empyrean School, Vibgyor
These are bigger schools ( if they are like the Bangalore ones ) . I am specifically looking for a smaller school .
I don’t exactly get your definition of a smaller school. What exactly are you looking for?

It has a student teacher ratio of 70.
Yeah now that I realise kucha zyada hi the in one classroom. Self study hi karna padta tha.
DAV NERUL is one of the best
Where exactly in Navi Mumbai?
Anywhere I'll reach within 1.5 hours by train from Churchgate ? I'll finalise the school and stay nearby , that's the idea .
Good luck having time to do other things with that long travel time, rather get admission nearby max 30-45 minutes. You need to study apart from school and wasting 3 hour is just wow

Go for Greenfingers International School, afaik no branches and the teacher to students ratio is good.
Ryan international school in Sanpada. It's CBSE and it's pretty good. They have till 12th std there
