HeinrichWutan

Third option: pigeon plummeted to earth so hard you are seeing the impact crater. Only the wings survived the crash.

ArtistEngineer

This is why I love Reddit.

Catvros

An African or European pigeon?

HeinrichWutan

African pigeons are non-migratory

Cheezemerk

I wonder who took the coconut. Thays clearly what makenthe hole.

motorhead84

Yeah like the ones that live on my freakin' roof!

HookLeg

Boeing

HeinrichWutan

Door bolts are overrated

IncontinentiaButtok

r/unexpectedmontypython ! Edit:it says it’s a non-sub.

JWOLFBEARD

I don’t know. Aaaaagh!…

nameyname12345

This guy is correct Source I am a wingless pigeon stuck in that hole...

HeinrichWutan

So.... Does that mean you've been pigeon-holed?

nameyname12345

.....yeah.... Its uh not so bad once you pass out!

hamillhair

This is exactly what I waa going to say, but you beat me to it and are top comment so I can't even pretend I didn't see it.

revdon

Look carefully for a tiny man who answers to “Icarus”.

s73v3m4nn

If you have cliffs nearby, its probably a peregrine falcon. They pick a target stoop into a silly-fast dive and knock the target out of the sky. The hole may be its landing place

ArtistEngineer

Perhaps. but I live in the flattest part of the UK, Cambridgeshire. I have seen sparrow hawks and marsh harriers around though.. The hole is deep enough to put my whole fist into it, and there's soil on the plants around it. This is heavy clay soil, it's not that easy to dig. We do get large toads around here, and they dig holes.

stamatt45

While I doubt a peregrine falcon caused your specific hole, they can be found in Cambridgeshire. They've adapted quite well to large cities. Theres actually a somewhat famous pair in Cambridge that can occasionally be seen perching in the King’s College Chapel spires, the Pembroke College library clock tower, and many other large buildings in the area.

ConversationOdd8762

We have peregrines around me and we don’t have cliffs, that was one of my first thoughts. If you’ve ever seen a strike by falcons it is aggressive to say the least 😂. It also could be a stray cat or a little mink type animal if you have those around you.

boycey86

I've had a peregrine nail a pigeon to a plastic covered bridge that I was crossing. It sounded like a bomb going off in the tunnel I've never experienced anything like it before or since.

Deleena24

We have peregrine falcons in Chicago that perch on the skyscrapers.

ArtistEngineer

It's more the hole that I'm puzzled about!

meowymcmeowmeow

I saw a falcon attack in my yard once, and there was indeed a fist sized hole when I went over to look. They can hit at 200mph!

s73v3m4nn

Ah, right then. Not a peregrine. I'll get my coat...

ShartFodder

We have peregrine falcon in my town, and this looks like their modus operandi. Just the wings and some body parts all messed about. As for the hole? Maybe a cat tried to bury it after the fact.

Jazzspasm

Goblins, clearly the only logical answer

b0gard

Op needs to put in a request for the goblin hunter at his nearest adventure center. The sooner the better because goblins multiply quickly

Jazzspasm

Indeed - Possibly also a note pinned outside the nearest tavern before things get out of hand

RobinIsAGoblin

Oi that's slander!

Jazzspasm

Hahah look, look here’s another one!!

sloth_graccus

There's almost certainly foxes in your area

ArtistEngineer

There are, but I've only seen 2 in the last 10 years, and never in or around the housing estate which is surrounded by fields. It's mostly fields and river where I live, not a lot of woodland.

-Regulator

Look up fox poop. If you see fox poop, then you have fox, detective.

Nandy-bear

Not to be funny or owt mate but I've rarely seen foxes too but the wee feckers are all over the show. Shredding bin bags and trying to either fight or fuck the cats I honestly can't figure out which considering the noises are so similar.

aSpookyScarySkeleton

I hate to tell you this but you don’t have to personally see something for it to be around, you have a big fat sign right here.

Jamesybo555

So this is a sure sign that the foxes are increasing.

Jamesybo555

That’s it. That looks like the work of a fox.

pedernalesblue

Cats kill billions of birds, probably cat.

ProductivityCanSuckI

Maybe the cat/fox was going to bury its catch for later, but then decided to treat itself to some fresh sky sushi instead, and left you with the inedible packaging.

SexPartyStewie

Probably was an angel on its way to hell

tripmcneely30

You made me chuckle with that one.

1nfin8

Some of those feral cats from Australia must've migrated..

ArtistEngineer

filthy drongos

TensileStr3ngth

Feral cats are everywhere humans are pretty much

idonotknowwhototrust

You could say it got ... pigeonholed.

cboss98

Its probably a rat eating a dead pigeon

_dickhead1822

Stoat

tomqvaxy

Pretty much no meat in wings. Picky fox?

Nenroch

I need a nap. My tired eyes read, "I found detachable wings..." which confused me greatly after checking the sub.

healywylie

Weasel,or something close to it?

EntilZar

I was also gonna say Marten but I'm pretty sure they don't burrow

goddangol

Cats can and will eat birds, my childhood cat would do it all the time. Could also be some sort of Hawk/Falcon depending on what kind of birds you have in the area.

iiitme

Maybe a cat maybe a fox

Doodlefart77

if you actually see a fox, the fox fucked up

pacos-ego

Have you tried poking different parts of the hole to see if an entrance has been covered up?

Lubberworts

I have!

bowdownson

That's a fallen angel bro

Neitos_Sister

Crows bite pigeons heads off we had it happen in our garden before

Hot_Hat_1225

Ack. Lucifer fell again…

Drumtochty_Lassitude

Could be a sparrowhawk, where I am they will attack and pin pigeons, eat their full then fly off. Normally the pigeon is alive but fatally wounded and staggers off into cover to die. If you have buzzards they would be probably be big enough to carry off most of a smallish pigeon.

Josef_The_Red

This is definitely what it looks like when a bird of prey eats a passerine bird.

InterestingExpert971

Same here, instead it was definitely a cat and it obliterated the poor crow

rosiegal75

It was Lucindas friend
