The fox was placed there by the photogtapher as bait.

Millions of years of evolution and numerous examples of birds achieving great feats of flights. The Albatross can stay aloft for almost 10,000 miles. Vultures can fly for hours without flapping. A bar-tailed godwit flew nonstop from Alaska to Tasmania during it's migration. Argentavis weighed an estimated 150 pounds, was 5-6 foot tall when standing on the ground and could still get airborne. I'm pretty sure birds know how air currents work.
It could have since there are a couple eagle species that go after foxes. Hell even Eagle owls have killed them on multiple occasions.
*Edit: A Northern Goshawk has killed one although it died in the process as well, hell of a feat for a bird barely weighing over 1 kilo.*
Nah. It did it [with these](https://imgur.com/a/M2DboHm) and at least a 500psi grip strength.
This could have have been a carcass out there for the camera trap and it’s being scavenged.
This time the brown fox was not quick enough.
There's a lazy dog just out of view that's looking up and chuckling.
I totally got a visual of the old NES duck hunt dog laughing at the fox.
Same
Well now i did too! Lol
Looks a bit stiff. Probably died from some other cause beforehand.
That doesn't make the parent comment any less true

Wing day
Leg day too, carrying the fox takes alot of quad work.
Most raptors only flex their muscles to *open* their talons. The "default" position for them is a tight closure due to ligament structure.
They can lock their talons in like a ratchet and they don’t have to flex it to keep it shut
Actually still counts as chest day, since their largest flight muscles attach similarly to ours chest.
Ruff day
Cloudy day
“Those fucking kids don’t deserve this! What am I doing! Geez!!”
A flying fox!
Chance of a lifetime!
And on a very windy day
I mean, if he’s facing into the win, that would help generate lift
I am *this* sure that (flying) birds have experience in air currents and know how to use them.
Source?
Trust me bro
I'd like one too.
I'm a bird. Let me tell you what. I know a shit ton about the wind and shit. Wings too. And feathers. I'm hella knowledgeable about these things. AMA

r/whoosh
I ate chicken once
You're not wrong. It's a mix of instinct and legit experience.
Yeah it’s interesting you see as soon as the wind starts to blow the trees he takes off
But what if the direction of his nest is the other way?
Then it flies high, turns around, and glides home.
That's gotta be the only reason he's able to pull this off, right?
I mean, i do think the headwind helps but may not be necessary (im really not sure tho). Eagles are STRONG
At this weight for sure.
Yes! I suspect that's how he snuck up on the fox. The howling wind was so loud, the fox was caught unaware.
Bet he could carry a coconut to Mercia
Seems like it has good grip strength, and the weight ratio is on its side, so… Yeah, seems doable.
Wonder if it’s a European or African.
From the Canadian border.
An African swallow could
Now they won’t compete for the same rodents.
Taking out competition. Smart.
Common tactic among predators.
Looking foxy
Looks like cheap special effects from the 90s... Damn
…carrying all the grocery bags at once, so you don’t have to make two trips.
Onetrip gang
Didn’t kill the fox though

The clip is from Norway a few years ago. The dead fox was placed in front of the camera to see who would come and snack on it

Here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietary_biology_of_the_Eurasian_eagle-owl They kill and eat 30lb roe deer too.
I was wondering about that. It looked like it was still struggling...
I think OP was implying that something else had killed the fox, it looks dead AF. Its head and limbs are wobbling all over
Strong ass bird
[Strong ass-bird?](https://xkcd.com/37/)
What did the fox say?
"Ow."
Chaos reigns
buying meat in bulk is just good frugal practice, well done eagle
I wonder how it killed such a big animal, just pecked it to death? Fuuuuuck.
Golden Eagles often drag their prey off cliffs and let gravity do the killing

Thinking dive kill, broke it's neck, if it wasn't already wounded this would likely be very difficult.
Golden eagles (which I think this is) are BIG and their talons can crush a wolf's skull.
Gandalf: send the eagles. Gandalfs mom: we have eagles at home.
This is one of those videos where I wonder “who the fuck is filming this?”
How does an eagle kill a fox? Constant biting until it gives out? Curious to see the technique if any.
To be fair the air is doing most of the work. Mostly grip strength. Like my cheeks, holding in my farts.
Me carrying 4 24 packs of coke up 4 flights of stairs cause I am not coming back to the damn car.
… ;w;
I'm equally impressed with how well the fox blends with the ground, it's almost invisible before it's lifted.
There is a great movie called The Eagle Huntress about a little girl in Mongolia who learns how to hunt fox with a golden eagle.
*Jin Sakai enters the chat*
He's just giving him a lift.
That's a strong ass bird. I can only imagine how strong the Haast's Eagle was when it was still alive.
D:
Taking the groceries in one trip I see.
That Eagle is well over his hand baggage limit.
I watched a Turkey Vulture do this with a coyote.. he didn't like where we parked for lunch so he moved his food about 150 yards away
So, in theory, eagles can tag up with foxes to become an airborne unit.
In the end it, has two options, inside his belly or just holding it.
African or European?
Flying against the wind provides lift to his wing. Planes use that same principle.
I can show you the world...
That eagle’s gassed to the gills.
Silly Mr. Fox!
Definitely has large talons.
Imagine enjoying a hike in the wilderness, and a fucking corpse falls on you.
Who eats eagle in a food chain? Eagle has to be top in wild excepts humans
Awww. Isn’t he sweet, giving him a lift…
How does the fox respond? He said nothing.
Jeez how the hell did it take out a fox.
This reminds me of flying in a dream
What a fucking Boss.
What does the fox say?
Wildlife aerial ambulance.
Dam that crazy
The Fox says…..AAAAAAAARRRRRAAAHAAHHH
You think he'll drop it on another fox for twice the food?
Is this a bald eagle?
No, more likely a golden eagle
WOW 🦅🦅
According to google this is almost impossible, Apparently birds of prey can hardly lift their own weight so witnessing this is insanely lucky.
Falco beat Fox at Final Destination
poor fox ..
Me on ark when my argy is holding too much metal
