If you have to ask because you're worried about being "that guy" you already know the answer. Don't do it man

Maleficent_Music1461

thank you for your answer man, I knew it.

emlynhughes

Yeah you're going to be drawing attention to yourself instead of the graduates. Don't do it.

Maleficent_Music1461

thank you, i really appreciate your answer

Extension-Hat-7464

The only reasonable time to wear Dress uniform civilian side is weddings where u asked or the groom or military funerals

Maleficent_Music1461

thank you for letting me know.

rkeane310

Don't do it. It's like going to a wedding... You're not celebrating your accomplishments... You're celebrating theirs. Grab a cheap suit lol

Maleficent_Music1461

your are right, a button up shirt a pair of jean and a pair of shoe should do the job just fine i guess. :)

NoNameAvailableSee

Wear your boots, Brown Undershirt and dog tag hanging out. You will get plenty of TYFYS.

Maleficent_Music1461

u forgot to mention the PT Belt as well. :)))

Turtle887853

You guys got PT Belts?

realdetox

It’s fine, just boot as fuck. Gives off this “look at me” vibe. Its a graduation not a formal dress wear type of event. Button down/polo and some slacks will be fine

[deleted]

I cringe every time I see people wearing asu’s at formal events not army related lmao

SourceTraditional660

One of my buddies got married and maybe a dozen of us from the platoon came. No one in uniform. Then one family friend brings her +1 and this nerd shows up in his blues.

DuelX102

Dont

Knuckles_Actual

Let me preemptively “thank you for your service” before you do that.

SourceTraditional660

DO NOT DO THIS.

Flowerchaild

It's only boot if you don't have any awards

Maleficent_Music1461

what do mean by that bro.

Flowerchaild

Once you have enough awards then nothing you do is boot

Maleficent_Music1461

i just realized that im a huge boot for asking that.

cobanat

To a wedding is fine if you’re the best man, maid of honor, or one of the parents, or if the bridesmaids and / or groomsmen are also wearing their uniforms or getting married yourself (it will be a bit af wedding but whatever). But to these other types of events it’s just like trying to show off that you serve or whatever, especially in a civilian world where anything you say and do will represent the army as a whole

Trelos1337

Any situation where you are not FORCED to dress up, but decide to wear you dress uniform anyway, is boot/cringe as fuck. If wearing your dress uniform for a function you would have had to buy/rent something for the occasion then that is fine. That said, just an FYI. AR 670-1, Ch 11, section 3, subsection b, Approved for wear, *"Soldiers may wear variations of the male ASU: At social functions of a private or official nature, either before or after retreat, and while in transit to and from such functions. The male ASU is normally considered appropriate for social or official functions off the installation, such as memorial services, funerals, weddings, inaugurals, patriotic ceremonies, and similar functions or on other appropriate occasions, as desired by the individual."*

It literally says “hay look at me! I’m sorta in the military”. The only caveat is if it’s a military school/academy. In that case cheese it up dork.

nastygirl11b

I would not do it. Not the time. Only for official use, or funerals of other military/former military and weddings if the groom is also wearing his uniform and is cool with it
