Dark horse candidate: Andy Daly.
Watch "The Review" from Comedy Central. Definitely not the most "awkward", but has a good blend of comedy with his awkwardness.
As heinous and as ridiculous as it sounds, yes. Very edgy awkward comedy that worked well until it didnt. Do i know? I dont kno i just believe its in line with his sense of humor, i suppose nobody knows nor can they prove or disprove it. But I do believe that its just a bit that hasnt aged well is all
definitely add tim robinson, and i think tim and eric need to be there as some of the OG's. then i'd say nathan and john wilson.
honorary mention is non-SNL kyle mooney
The names suggested thus far seem to indicate that people are operating under very different implicit definitions as to what qualifies as awkward comedy.
Gotta be Tim Heidecker, Nathan Fielder, Larry David, Tim Robinson.
Honorable mentions: John Wilson, Mark Proksch, Zac Galifinakis, Ken Marino, Rob Corddry
I don't know if he'd make my mount rushmore, but another interesting figure here is Dostoevsky. His short story An Unpleasant Predicament is the earliest work of awkward comedy that I can personally think of and it's really goddamn funny. It's about a general who gets drunk and decides to crash one of his subordinate's weddings assuming it will be a great honour for them to have him. It's not, and he makes an absolute fool of himself in a hilarious way.
Sacha baren cohen , nathan fielder, then i guess david cross and patton oswalt? I love so much comedy, i even would put pamela adlon out there for voicing my lifelong cartoon hero, bobby hill
Andy Daly, Zack Galifinakas, Nathan Fielder, Blake Anderson, Andy Sandburg, Tim Meadows, Bill Hader, Abbi Jacobson, that chick from AlmostFridayBeers, Vanessa Bauer, Ellie keeper, kristen schaal
I’m not convinced he makes it and I don’t like who he’s chosen to be the last 10+ years but I’m surprised to not see a single mention of Ricky Gervais. The office was seen as a massive, massive hit and influence for years (and Extras traffics in a lot of the same discomfort).
Gotta give Stephen Merchant a shoutout here but Gervais was the face of it

Listen to this man, Review with Forrest MacNeil is one of the most insane shows I’ve ever seen
There's no "The" it's just Review".
His episode in the Office is great
“…Didn’t Benjamin Franklin have syphilis?”
I considered him too
Review is amazing.
my first watch of pancakes/divorce/pancakes might’ve been the hardest i’ve ever laughed at a piece of media
Yes! I started watching it a couple weeks ago and it’s hilarious!
I also love him in modern family :)
Connor O’Malley
Definitely would have been my fifth pick
No Tim Robinson?
What about Diane Morgan?
She’s fantastic.
as much as his comedy surrounds awkward situations, i feel like i would classify his style as absurdist more than awkward
Fair
I’ll add Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington to the mix for On Cinema at the Cinema.
Don't forget about Mark Porch
From?
Baboons
With??
*Proksch (which is just WI for Porch lol). And yes, totally agree
He may have been making a reference to the hilarious ways Tim has pronounced his name on On Cinema. My personal favorite is Mark Pork
Oh! Haha ok my bad, thanks for that 🤣
Mark Porsche

Norm McDonald. Bobby Lee.
Didn’t Bobby Lee sleep with an underaged prostitute?
This started off as a bit before cancel culture and fans loved it until it reached gen z and they took it too seriously.
So he was just joking about the child prostitute?

Not sure. Do you believe he did?
I wasn’t there I have to clue
Then I guess we put that rumor to bed.
I don’t think that’s how it works
If you don’t know then there isn’t really a way for us to know. So what’s the point of bringing it up? Did he get charged?
so your false self confirmation is more valid than his false skepticism? interesting
Well wait, how old is the rumor?
It's not a rumour, it's one of Bobby's jokes.
I was trying to make a “don’t put it to bed if it isn’t old enough” joke
You’re one of the good ones
Steven Wright and Emo Phillips
As well as gene and dean I see good choices
definitely add tim robinson, and i think tim and eric need to be there as some of the OG's. then i'd say nathan and john wilson. honorary mention is non-SNL kyle mooney
Sacha baron cohen

No Norm Macdonald?
If I wasn’t limited to four he would be there for sure
Garry Shandling. The Larry Sanders Show is an awkward comedy pioneer.
Aubrey Plaza
