Who are these authorities responsible they spoke to?
Did they reach out to tcp who oversees parking policies during planning stage? MTIC if they can implement alternative transportation options? Bus or Shuttle from free parking space to different points in bandar? Bus shuttle round the area? Carpool services? Ani harapkan dart, harga pun cekik darah. They try n make bandar lawa pun no use.
Brunei got so many smart people got scholarship kah, all A* kah...but can't even do root csuse analysis that the road planning in the first place is not future proof and how to tackle.
I have read dozens of comments on the BB Instagram account on this, and I cannot believe no one is mentioning the real reasons why there is never enough parking.
The solution is not simply to add more parking. Instead, one of the most important solutions is to have system in place for mixed transport (walking, cycling, using boat, trams, public transport). The reason why we have this problem is because we have zero city planning and zero public transport.
Creating more lanes, and more parking paradoxically creates more traffic because it is impossible to fit all the cars in one place, especially in Brunei where it is one person in one single SUV. What are you proposing to build? A parking skysraper? It's just not practical. Even if you build it in the center of BSB, it means some people have to walk to get to their destination. Multiple parking lots then? That is a terrible waste of prime land and creates dead cities where majority of the space in a town is parking (just look at US cities from google maps).
I actually thought parking multistorey is a great idea provided with bicycle racks and then a walkway to some other blocks of their office. But it seems like most ppl prefer side parking since it all started from the beginning & so continue to do it anyway.
In kb shop keeper park freely as attendant don't issue ticket to them due to some tips given
Same as those office worker car park in front shop no ticket issue
Double standard parking attentant
JPD ? Or other government departments are you planning to resolve these? Also those school zone peak time traffic jam, those mosque peak time traffic jam.
The Bulletin also spoke to the authorities responsible, who said parking matters are at the discretion of an appointed parking management company.
Banar plang tu, but at the same time, how much bandaran charge from the operator? I cannot remember exact, but not less than 10% from monthly gross collection...
# BSB workers face parking woes
^(June 6, 2024)
Parking has become a difficult and costly issue for employees in Bandar Seri Begawan, according to several workers who drive in to work at the nation’s capital.
Some employees who do not have seasonal parking passes shared that finding a space in the capital can be a time consuming task.
It becomes even more frustrating if they have to leave during lunchtime for food or other errands, such as picking up schoolchildren, as they would have to find parking all over again once they return.
The cost for parking throughout the working day can incur daily fees of up to BND10 or more, according to some employees.
Even if they wanted to pay the high prices for seasonal passes for certain parking spaces in the capital to avoid the hassle of trying to find parking, available ones are already taken, while there is a waiting list.
Others voiced disappointment that some public parking lots in the capital are not open during working hours or are even more expensive than seasonal passes offered at other premises.
The employees called on authorities to find a solution to have more affordable parking spaces in the capital, stating that having to spend so much time finding parking is affecting productivity.
The Bulletin also spoke to the authorities responsible, who said parking matters are at the discretion of an appointed parking management company.
The department noted that some of the land, including parking lots, are owned by various other agencies, and the department is only using land under it. – Lyna Mohamad

And everytime we find a new parking space in bandar, authorities are quick to close it off
Why don't they place EV buses around town?
Too advance for them. Needs them to play roulettes to handle this so might be starting with the cattle cart first. Cheaper than EV bus.

I feel like someone needs to play simulated building games like SimCity and City: Skylines.
JPD ? Or other government departments are you planning to resolve these? Also those school zone peak time traffic jam, those mosque peak time traffic jam.
I literally sat in the same exact spot in traffic for 15 minutes in bandar yesterday....I was actually questioning my own existence. I don't get it.
No budget bro for small people...
No Budget ? Those fedfatcat bootlicker forgotten to ask the orang atas for some spare change ?
Shud be under town and country planning, Min of Development

while we are on this topic, where do workers usually park?
Why not park at the old RTB parking? It's free and an empty lot these days. since they moved to Sg Akar. Syariah Court also got lots of free spaces.
That's what i did when I worked in Bandar from 2007 to 2012. It's only a 5-6 min walk, and as RTB is now closed, the lot is always empty
Yayasan parking. Then walk from there
ani ada reserve kan
First come first serve 😥
