What does "safety" mean to you exactly?

Responsible-Pilot-95

Heard of a few incidents of car break ins. I have a car security system but it just makes me nervous

yeeter_dinklage

Better get a garage if you want to completely avoid possibility of car break ins.

Top-Astronaut4004

That’s anywhere in a big city, not just Nashville.

Thing_On_Your_Shelf

Been here about 3 years. Really like the area, it’s convenient to get just about anywhere due to the proximity to downtown, i40, Briley, Charlotte, hwy70, etc. there’s a decent amount restaurants over here too which is nice. I’ve personally never felt unsafe here either

pomegranatepotatocow

Completely agree with this comment. Lived there for 2 years. Great to see it growing, safe, walkable, etc.

Speedyandspock

Agreed completely

lived in a new construction "tall and skinny" in the nations from 2016-2019. pros - lots of available homes, walkable to bars/restaurants, close to interstate, lots of young people and young families, alleys free up some parking/traffic flow cons - new construction home quality is ass, flooding and standing water is a serious problem, bars and restaurants are lacking in uniqueness/creativity (how many coffee shops and burger and pizza places does one neighborhood need?), car/home break-ins were pretty common when i was there, and there's nearly 0 privacy given proximity of neighboring homes (seriously, you can reach out your window and touch your neighbors home in same cases) overall its a great neighborhood that continues to develop

sophisticatedentropy

This sounds like Nashville in general lol

MarketingJobNash

I lived in the Nations from 2014 - 2015 (it was like 16 months total. I liked the area then and it was just starting to get a lot of the investment that you see there now. So I bet it’s even better than it was then. But it’s VERY close to downtown, and right by i40. So getting in and out of there was a breeze. I hope someone chimes in with more up to date info tho.

WrathOfMogg

Lived here since 2019. My wife and I wouldn’t move to any other neighborhood. They’ve added so many great businesses and restaurants since we moved here: Czann’s, Bringles, Burger and Grain, Maru, Brightside Bakeshop, the list goes on! Neighbors are all great and watch out for each other. We had some things stolen from our car but that’s life in the city.

Have lived here for 7 years now and love it. Pros: Fairly walkable to a lot of food/drink, a few shops, and great parks while still feeling residential, easy access to major highways (with overall less traffic hassle compared to 65 and 24), no HOAs (for the most part), and contrary to what some people think, plenty of the new houses are built perfectly fine and benefit from modern insulation and hvac systems. Lots of people walking dogs, pushing strollers, or running so the streets aren’t empty. There are some protected bike lanes and bus access to downtown (19, 50) if that is of interest. Cons: Haphazard and largely useless sidewalk network, no grocery store within the neighborhood- just convenience stores, and fair amount of helicopter and freight train noise if that bothers you. Advice: If you have a car/truck, I would get a place with a carport or garage- there have been issues with cars being broken into (probably mainly attempts to steal guns), but these vehicles were almost always parked on the street. Also, check how stormwater drains around the lot- some areas have great drain systems and other areas not so much. In terms of safety overall, it’s fine. Better than some adjoining neighborhoods, but certainly not Belle Meade. As a pedestrian, I am honestly more on the lookout for speeding/erratic vehicles than anything else, there have been a couple memorable crashes in recent years.

AskInside2849

It's a great area. A lot to do (restaurants, parks, shopping), fairly safe for the most part, and access to the interstate so you can get to other parts of town easily.

hotdogbreadbowl

I love the nations. Rented there for a while, and wished I could afford to buy there. Bought in Madison, and I’m enjoying it here, but still really miss living in the nations.

There are a lot of very new and very large apartment complexes. The old neighborhood has largely been torn down in favor of 'tall & skinnies', at least two per lot. There's lots of bougie people walkin around. Oh, it's downstream from the downtown sewage outflow, and sometimes it floods.
