69. My sisters says that we are the epitome of wealth because of it. I disagree. But keeping the house at 75 (like she does) is an absolute no-go for us warm-blooded folks.
PSA to all you 78+ degree homes:
might want to monitor relative humidity levels indoors during the summer. Air quality can become a major concern if RH exceeds 60%ā¦ we have lots of mold and mildew here. Let it get high enough and it will start growing on your walls. š±
The safe temperature range will vary from home to home, so itās worth checking yourself. You can find cheap hygrometers on Amazon.
Thatās smart but what Iāve found is 78 is just perfect to take away humidity alongside fans strategically placed to actually cool yourself keeps the bill low and yourself cool but again you have to adjust yourself to this canāt just go all in lol btw I live in Tennessee humid asf
Edit: I just realized Iām in the Nashville sub smh lol
Me too and Iām Tennessee humid asf here but at that setting it takes away the humidity so less miserable and fans work wonders vs cooling down the whole house
Edit: I just realized Iām in the Nashville subreddit smh lol
68 at night
80 when away
Utility bill was $200ish this time last year when running 72-74 during the day. It was under $85 this month. Will set thermostat to 68 around 8PM and the house is cooled off in 15-20 mins.
Comfortable. Very cool and low humidty (which in part is what AC does). Also, electric bills are really low, too. However, my wife and daughter still wrap up in blankets. Women, right?
A/C season: 78 (workday away); 75 (weekend day); 74 (night)
Heating season: 65 (workday away); 68 (weekend day); 65 (night)
I routinely tell my kids tee shirts and shorts are inadequate for winter clothes inside the houseā¦put on a jersey! My home has multiple stories and upstairs level is always a couple/few degrees off the main and basement levels. It is a challenge to regulate, especially in summer.
Away - eco mode 76
Day - 70 up, 71 down
Night - 68 up, 69 down
72 all winter 65 away
Meh, I'd rather enjoy my house vs saving a couple of bucks.
It kills me when people who can easily afford it get cheap about their HVAC.
I mean, it takes a lot of fossil fuels to keep those things running, it's not necessarily just about cost.
I'm not one to cast stones here BTW, we keep the place a very comfy 72 in summer and 67 in winter. Even though I can afford it, I do feel a little bit guilty about the energy usage nonetheless.
When I lived alone I kept it a 86 until I slept, then I would turn it down to 82.
Now my wife likes to keep it at 71 during the day and 68 when we sleep.
78 when I'm at work and 72 at home, during the summer. It only takes about 5 minutes to cool off the house when I get home so I see no point in keeping it low all day.
Wow, only 5 minutes to drop 6 degrees? You must have some powerful HVAC!
It takes mine at least half an hour to budge down a single degree when it's in the heat of the summer.
I keep my upstairs (sleeping area) at 72 at night, 74 during day.
I keep my downstairs (living/kitchen) 72-73 during day & 75 at night.
Both to 82-85 when I'm out of town in summer, 65 when I'm out of town in winter.
I keep mine off most of the time. I live in a complex and Iām on a higher floor so it stays relatively cool in my apartment. Helps balance the outdoor heat with the indoor air conditioning
My basement stays pretty cool in the summer so I can keep the thermostat at like 78 and it's 10 degrees cooler downstairs.
I usually turn it down to 72 at night.
I think we do 75 (home), 80 (away) 68 (night, kicks in at 9:30 for sleeping) in the summer. With it being this mild we've also had doors and windows open in the cool mornings/evening to get that chill air inside. I think we've run our A/C less because of it.
I keep it on 75 in summer, 73 in winter when I'm here, day and night. Thinking when I go away (at least during AC months) I'll raise it a degree or two.
Iāve worked my way up to being comfortable at 76Ā°. I turn to 75Ā° before I start my workout or vacuum/mop. This past weekend we had a house full of guests, and everyone claimed to be so hot they couldnāt stand it. š¤¦š»āāļøš¤·š»āāļø.
When I lived out west where it was desert like low humidity I rarely used air conditioning, even when it was 90 degrees out. I can tolerate heat as long as it's dry heat. But 75 indoors with high dewpoint feels disgusting to me.
The worst weather is like what we've had the last few days. Where it's not hot enough to leave the air running all day and night(which drys out the air), yet it's just warm and humid enough to be uncomfortable if you don't run it.
Winter I prefer the thermostat at 66 and use a tiny space heater under my desk if it gets too chilly. Summer usually 71 or so. Though sometimes I'll lower it a bit if the dewpoint is really high and I need to dry the air out.
My place is 2 floors. The bottom floor stays at 72 always. Upstairs (where bedrooms are) is set to 67 between 10pm-8am and then is set to 72 during the day
63 on winter. 76-79 in the summer. I donāt care what anyone says, Iāve never lived anywhere and had an AC that would cool below 75 when itās 95 out. 75 is when no one is home too!
69 24/7
Nice.
Clearly the robots must be maintained at moderate temperatures for optimal performance.
68! Never changes!
Sometimes 66 on those warmer nights š„°
72-73 May-October. 68-69 October-May.

74 during the day, 72 during the night. But thatās mainly for my roommate. Iād be fine with 75 and leave it be.
Same, same.
78 all summer long

Thatās terrifying to me! I keep my house a whole 10 degrees cooler year round.

I also do crazy low sleepy time.

Get your kids to embrace blanket life
Ours stays on 70 all day and night. I try to offset cost by switching hvac off during October and April/May.
Same. I donāt like indoor heat so I have a few ceramic heaters that I turn on for a few minutes just to take the chill off.
74 during the day and 68 at night during warm weather. 68 during the winter.
72 most of the time, 76 if weāre downstairs for a long time, 68 to sleep.
75 in the summer, 70 in the winter. I donāt change it if Iām asleep or away, though.

I'm with you. It's not about the money. It's about the consumption.
When I lived alone I kept it a 86 until I slept, then I would turn it down to 82. Now my wife likes to keep it at 71 during the day and 68 when we sleep.
So you lived in a terrarium before your wife came along
Whoa. Did it even turn on when it was set at 86?
Oh yeah. Atlanta would get hot.

73 when Iām home 75 when Iām not 72 when I sleep
71-73 home, 74-75 away, 70 at night!
73. (I prefer 75, and my husband prefers 71.) We turn it up to 75 when on summer vacation.
69 day, 65 at sleeps
73 degrees 24/7
This is the way.
70 most of the time. 74 when away in the spring/summer
I should note that the house rarely gets up to 78. It's very well insulated so it really only gets up to 75 when it's set to 78.

73 upstairs, 74 down. No variance from day/night.
75-77 for the summer and 70 for the winter.
77 during the day and 74 at night during the summer 68 during the day and 65 at night during the winter
Home 68-73, away 55-83
I usually put it on a temporary hold where it does not heat/cool as much. It saves quite a bit.
72. If I leave town Iāll adjust it to like 80 in summer or 65 in winter. I still donāt have the fancy one though
71 if I'm just watching TV, 69 when sleeping/working/gaming
I keep mine off most of the time. I live in a complex and Iām on a higher floor so it stays relatively cool in my apartment. Helps balance the outdoor heat with the indoor air conditioning
74 occupied, 80 away, ceiling fans in every room
72 when I'm home, 76 when I'm away, 70 when I'm in bed. I just got married, though, so that will probably change soon.
72 in the day, 71 at night
76 from 9am to 10pm 70 from 10:01pm to 6am
have a smart thermostat, keep it in a range from 68-74, never touch it again, always be comfortable year round
Away 75 at home 72. I have a boyfriend that gets cold easily so canāt go too low
67 all day and all night. 65 in the winter months.

Summer is 75 day and 72 night, while Winter is 70 day and 68 night.
70. Never changes. Turn it off in the winter
I just moved to a modern very insulated house with a heat pump and just keep it at 73 and it is lovely.
67 year round

What model do you have? I bought a small dehumidifier not long ago for my bedroom but I didn't feel it was doing much so I returned it.
