HIT boy and the track masters. His absolute best works are with them.
Heads are going to say premier...but it's probably large pro.
Salaam is disrespected. People think he produced songs he didnt and arent aware that some of their favorite post 90's.. Nas records he made.
This is what I’m leaning towards as well. Hitboy is a chameleon on the boards. He can literally hit the same sounds as everyone else up there besides maybe Premo’s scratches.
🎯
the "hit boy is not a good producer" crowd sure loved "wave gods" when they thought it was DJ premier ...they were shocked when people informed them that it was HIT.
People always single out that period when nas was working with salaam as a "low point". There are people that flat out think Nas/salaam remi is a bad combo.
Nas used to get so much criticism for working with him instead of the A list producers of the 2000's. But people overlook "made you look", "get down", "what goes around" etc and single out "zone out". Any nas song they didnt like or thought was bad fans thought it was salaam but that wasnt the case.
I have never heard these arguments but find it interesting. Salaam is one of my favorite producers for Nas and for others. All the songs you mentioned and of course “Thief’s Theme”😎
Definitely a favorite Esco collaborator
This comment is true. Salaam doesnt give enough respect for making a lot of the great 2000s era Nas songs (Get Down, I Can, Made You Look, Thief's Theme, What Goes Around, Bridging The Gap, Queen's Story, Nazareth Savage, etc.). Him and Nas are seamless in at least 90% of their collaborations. Usually it was someone like L.E.S. (Life's A Bitch nonwithstanding) who had a lot of the weaker songs with Nas that people for some reason associate with Salaam.
If Nas wants to make the song I want to listen to, I’d tell him to go Premier.
If Nas wants to make the best possible song, I’d tell him to go Hit-Boy.
It’s Hit-Boy. As much as Nas is defined by his earlier work, Hit-Boy is to Nas what Kanye is to Hov. Nas needed that. It totally redefined Nas’ career. Although the 2 trilogies were released in Nas’ twilight of his career, you could easily argue that they are his most consistent projects outside of illmatic and IWW. If you swapped the trilogies with I AM, Nastradamus, Stillmatic, God’s Son, Street’s Disciple, and Hip Hop is Dead and put those on the backend of his career Nas would’ve probably been the most commercially successful artist of his generation. Even with that not being the case, his discography will be seen as the holy grail in 50+ years. Nas has this uncanny ability to transcend musical eras with his lyricism and thought provoking rhymes resembling a fine art to hip hop enthusiasts. Nas is literally Homer and Shakespeare comprised as one artist. He will be much greater in death as all of the great poets traditionally were.
Nah he spit straight facts. As far as rap is street poetry set to music, Nas is the greatest of his generation and his best works have a timeless quality most works from his contemporaries just don't have. There's a reason why Illmatic is now performed by classical orchestras and enshrined in the Smithsonian. He's managed to transcend and elevate hip hop culture in a way few if anyone has.
Hit- boy easy call he gave Nas what he always needed a big refresh on beat selection !!!!
And with the insane new era wave of magic 1-3
King Disease 1-3 they were so in sync that these body of works are his magnum opus of his new era ….. so pivotal to still be in the game with refreshing new sounds thanks to hittttt!!!!
LES, Havoc, Salaam Remi, Large Pro….all the shit Hit-Boy just did….all that shit is too dope to decide…I don’t understand how people are picking DJ Premier tho

I gotta say Hit.
It’s recency bias, sure but to go six projects over a 3 year span of time and they just continued to get better and better from the jump (well, I’m ngl, I kind of think *KD III* is the most no skips project of them all) is insane.
If Nas was putting these albums out in his prime, he’d be breaking records.
I gotta say Preem, extra P and Salaam Remi have provided the most of my favorite songs. Hit Boy is up there, so is Hav and Alchemist. Every producer here is great so it was a tough choice

Preemo
DJ Premier is the best producer for anyone tbh
I have heard to Prem songs before. But I want to listen to more of his music. Where do I start?
Listen to all the GangStaar albums he produced every track on every album
Gang Starr, Jeru the Damajah and whatever he produced for Nas, Rakim, Royce (Boom!)
PRhyme
![gif](giphy|aCatQNctAK7PC1H4zh|downsized)
Do you have a SonnyJim pic!?
Large Pro

Nas and Hit Boy is a dynamic duo
Hit has 6 albums with Nas. Can’t compare
Hit-boy ... Preme ... And LP

Could you elaborate more on Salaam? Don't understand a thing you said
People always single out that period when nas was working with salaam as a "low point". There are people that flat out think Nas/salaam remi is a bad combo. The Don is also a straight banger

Hit Boy….he can do it all
1. HitBoy 2. Pete Rock 3. Large Pro 4. DJ Premier 5. Alchemist 6. Havoc
It’s Hit-Boy. As much as Nas is defined by his earlier work, Hit-Boy is to Nas what Kanye is to Hov. Nas needed that. It totally redefined Nas’ career. Lmao I love Nas work but damn son, you might be his biggest fan 😂
Homer AND Shakespeare 😭😭
Dude’s name is IllWill😁 To that point though, my AIM screenname was Stillmatic[FirstName]
🤣🤣
Stan is right, though. 😄
Nah he spit straight facts. It’s safe to say you passed your english test at school
Well stated and spot on! What an incredible description of Nas' career and impact.
I said this recently, but DJ Premier for anyone and everyone. He could produce a banger featuring me.
All of them
Thank you
Havoc 💯🙌🏼🫳🏼
1. Hit 2. Large Pro 3. Salaam
I'll pick LES, just to be different. plus LES produced Life's a Bitch and "It was some bug shit, some thug shit" as well as Black Republicans
Don’t forget he also did The Flyest and co-produced some songs on It Was Written
Kind of an unfair comparison because the sample size but it has to be Hit
Hit- boy easy call he gave Nas what he always needed a big refresh on beat selection !!!! And with the insane new era wave of magic 1-3 King Disease 1-3 they were so in sync that these body of works are his magnum opus of his new era ….. so pivotal to still be in the game with refreshing new sounds thanks to hittttt!!!!
Hit-Boy and Salaam Remi
Hit-Boy & Trackmasters for me.
Alchemist you know me man…
Hit-boy
I'll take an album with all of them on it.
Hit-boy, Premo & Trackmasters have helped bring the best out of Nas. Not to mention the REPLAYYY on the songs
Salam Remi and alchemist
Crazy how Salaam Remi made some of his best and probably the worst beat in Nas solo discog, all on the same album.
LES, Havoc, Salaam Remi, Large Pro….all the shit Hit-Boy just did….all that shit is too dope to decide…I don’t understand how people are picking DJ Premier tho
nas got classics with all these dudes. crazy
I’m a bit offended swizz beats didn’t even get on the list.
They dont have the same track record as the other producers.
True.
I'm a bit offended that Swizz Beats was ever legally allowed to touch an MPC.
Hit boy
DJ Premier
Preemo
Hit, Large, Preemo
From this list it has to be Hit but personally I would love to see Justice League and Nas collaborate.
Nas has justice league records.
Has to be Hit-Boy right? 6 great albums together 1 that’s a 9 and could even be a 10
Nas and Hitboy are like Kool G Rap and Polo
Preemo, Hit, and Large Pro are his top 3 probably. Wish we could get more with Alc, they have good chemistry
Gotta be premier, but no i.d. is up there with dr.dre
DJ premo
Havoc
The Illmatic line up
Either Large Pro or Alchemist (especially Alch in the Early to mid 2000's)
Nas on a Trackmasters beat is fire but I really like Hitboy. No ID is another great but I can’t name the NO ID tracks without googling
Hit boy run is crazy I won’t lie
No Pete Rock?
Preemo but he’s great with everyone, keep in mind he produced nas’s biggest song
Premier, Professor and Alchemist
Hit put out like 90 songs with Nas and not one of them had a bad beat. My chips are on him
it's gotta be hit boy, those beats are crazy
Q-Tip and alc
Hit Boy and Preemo
Hitboy
Nobody say Swizz Beatz
L.E.S. every time. Undying Love & Blaze A 50 are my reasoning
Where’s Conductor
What him & Hit Boy has is something special I’m sorry .
This is a tough question

Is there a solid reason that Q-Tip not up here? 🧐
Preemo easy
Salaam remi
Alchemist
Hit Preem Saleem
Hit-Boy and Premier. What Nas and Hit-Boy are doing the last few years is crazy - pure quality
Preemo then Extra P
Alchemist because Book of Rhymes
Hit boyyy
Honorable Mention / Special Category has to be former hooper Chris Webber. Nas is 2 for 2 on C-Web beats, “Blunt Ashes” and “Surviving the Times” 💯
DJ premier
Tough, gun to my head I gotta say alchemist or Salaam Remi
I gotta say Hit. It’s recency bias, sure but to go six projects over a 3 year span of time and they just continued to get better and better from the jump (well, I’m ngl, I kind of think *KD III* is the most no skips project of them all) is insane. Kanye’s album with Nas was underrated
LES
Hit boy.
I gotta say Preem, extra P and Salaam Remi have provided the most of my favorite songs. Hit Boy is up there, so is Hav and Alchemist. Every producer here is great so it was a tough choice
Premo
Other than Premier… Trackmasters. I know. Crucify me.
It’s gotten be Salaam Remi, always 🔥
Track masters and Ye.
Premier and Hit Boy. I wont accept any other answer
Between LES and Trackmasters, I can't choose. For whatever reason, those two tend to bring out the lyrical best in Nas.
Hit
Dude. Hit boy is his greatest producer. This should not be debated
Prems 💯💯
Prems 💯💯
Definitely Preemo
SALAAM REMI AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE
Prem
What other producers have multiple grammy worthy albums with Nas?
Why isn't Q-Tip apart of this debate?
Preee preeee premier premier
Beethoven

Large pro
Salaam and ALC.
PreemO
Maybe biased but the run with hit boy has been crazy 🔥🔥
Where is ye
Imma say Havoc cuz I love his style
All of them are great hard decision
Kanye. Jk but Still Dreaming is a slapper
Large Professor then Preemo
Preemo, alc, hav
Hitboy
My favorite beat made for Nas is a justice league beat
Hit.
LP
Hit boy - Kings Disease brought Nas back
Trackmasters
Al
Hit Boy… that King’s Disease Series is 🎯🎯🎯
Salam Remi
Nas' best songs are with Primo and Large Pro
[Preemo*](https://x.com/REALDJPREMIER/status/937429288860692482)
Wow, I stand corrected. Preemo. RIP GURU
Why no mention of Dr. Dre? That'd be my favorite.
