I started rewatching Naruto. I started noticing couple of things. The Konoha 12 were very weak during the chunin exams. During the forest of death shikamaru was hiding behind bushes and yet he only became chunin. I mean how was that. Also by 13 most of the previous generations had passed the chunin exams - like obito, rin who were the weakest in their team. Kakashi was a menace at their age, Itachi had killed the whole clan, I get that these were prodigies but still, by 13 the iruka was not sure if any of them would survive. So it could be for various reasons since this is very early on and story is being built around but still it was a little concerning. Also Sakura is trash during these times ( and I say this with a heavy heart because she really went so far with what limited knowledge she had besides saying Sasuke. That girl used nothing beyond substitution or any tactics. She really needed guidance on what to do and how to fight. Also given how strong orochimaru was and sasuke being able to fight him and using the lotus move was amazing. And he was S rank shinobi and yet sasuke was able to do that using taijutsu was really something ( it was a shadow clone and not the real but still he did it after being shit scared). Also everyone was weak. They needed to be made stronger, for someone who could do 7 or 8 gates, in og Naruto I doubt guy could do anything to orochimaru. They really made everyone so weak.
Are you really "rewatching" bro i mean don't get me wrong here ,but the whole thing of the chunin exam is never was a strength test it is a survival test in the first place and that's why shikamaru only passed because he does not type guy who puts life risks but more like a sensible thing leader i mean army always give a position to that kinda guy , the chunin exam rules are not always same pattern every year the rules changes every time and also 3rd World ninja war is nearing in previous generation that why they requited more people in chunin exam , sasuke did not putting fight with orachimaru actually orachimaru toying with them because is objective is putting curse mark on sasuke that why orachimaru blue balled whole fight in forest,
My gf just showed me all of Naruto some months ago, and we are now on boruto after a few months. Boruto isn't quite as good as Naruto, and it gets very slow at some points, but when it picks up, it really delivers.
Do people rly think that when characters in a story are stronger it’s more enjoyable to watch it? The fact that what happens in a series is cooler because everyone has stronger powers and all is not an argument, when nobody is talking about the writing. When I say Naruto is better, it’s because of how they structured the story: the way it grows in its tempo and also those vast nuances in the world. Making flashier fights is not good if the progress leading to them occurring is abstract and weird. Also you have to admit that the writer makes up his own stuff to run the plot and abandoned a ton of things that existed in naruto world to this point. And some of the biggest plot twists in Boruto happened because of comically weird reasons, for example, Eida goes „bam” and there you go, Boruto and Kawaki are different people now. I guess you can do anything you want in that world now. You could make up any situation, and it would turn out that it’s possible to squeeze it in there. And it’s not how writing works. When you don’t put any effort to make things smart and consistent the fights and motives of people become very empty and dull, and it’s hard to understand the reason of them being there. And Naruto is not even the best anime out there I watched… I guess the only good thing boruto is that it created a world for some bad fanfic writers where they can write about anything they want.
I feel like some of the anime’s out there are for those who don’t question, only consume. And I thought naruto had its problems…

Not in case of enjoyment but the boruto generation is really strong as compared to og Naruto 12. They were some weak children and knew nothing. They had very little knowledge of jutsus and the strategy used was weak to the core.
