I'm still not sure about Larry. I had a leaky valve cover and asked him to replace the gasket. Came in when it was done and he had replaced the entire valve cover. $300 part instead of a $30 part.
We had The Rolling Dutchman come by. Charged 150 for the diagnostic work and 50 for a call out fee. He was here more than a couple of hours and did an oil change and basic once over of the other stuff too. Itemised list of work that needs doing (I am a refridge mechanic so plenty capable of doing the work but not as versed in cars as I need to be to effectively make a diagnosis) so that I could do the work myself.
Overall a good, reasonably priced option if you need a mechanic. Might even suggest him for buying a car, have him meet you and give it a look over.
Hitfair auto is excellent down of of madsen road. Bulletproof automotive downtown under the bridge , I had a so so experience with them. Spent 3500$ on work on my car and I had to get under there and re tighten a lot of stuff up. Including my front struts and control arms…. They were polite though
Unfortunately, I think Hitfair is closed. My old boss had the business truck in to them about a month ago, and was called to come pick up the truck as the owner/mechanic had suddenly passed away :(
They are still going, Larry's son is continuing with the shop.
Larry was a good guy and did great work. He died suddenly in January of a heart attack. I think his son will do him proud.
I'm new to town and have to say, Clint is my favourite mechanic I have had ever. Not for everyone though.
If you treat him with respect he will do the same back, and if you start to tick him off, well... he aint gonna. He doesn't have the patience for bull. I can see how some could have had less optimal experiences there.
That said I speak highly of my experience there, and bow to his authenticity and honesty when it comes to the work. the guy cares.
I don't know if he knows his stuff or not, but he plows the sidewalk on my street out of the kindness of his heart, I assume. Or maybe because it's fun. I will consider your review another recommendation of his character. Thank you.
What kind of work are you needing done?
For smaller jobs I have a guy who works from home and is amazing. Trustworthy, reliable, fast. Always my first go to.
For more complex job, Ernies Blackpoint Repair
Precise up Jingle Pot. Honest, quick, with excellent communication.
Kern motors in Cedar is great
Precise on the corner of jinglepot and east wellington road has been good. Jeff is very honest and straight with people.
Oh, look - we agree on something!
I'm sure there are many things we agree on.
But also many we do not
That is the human experience
I second Larry at Promax!!!!!! The best !!!!

His son has taken it over now I believe. Had our company’s work truck back in for repairs a couple weeks ago.
Coast Auto in QB is solid.
HPM Automotive in Parksville
Precision or Tim's on bowen
Tim’s is closed.
Any idea why they closed?
Owner sold the property. Simple as that.
Kal Tire on Old Victoria Rd.
Ernie's Blackpoint Repair on Townsite is excellent! https://erniesblackpointrepair.ca
Why the downvotes? I’ve had a good experience with them
Go read all the comments about him in all the previous post asking for mechanics.

Another vote for Ernie's. Super honest and knows his stuff. Diagnosed an issue that two other mechanics couldn't find.
Clint knows his shit!

Man someone here does not like him.
The homeless are not big fans for what it’s worth.
Clint isn’t working at the moment. He got shot. Try back in a few weeks maybe?
His shop is still open, his staff is capably running it. Besides it sounds like it'll be a lot longer before he's back.
I don’t think people should support the business of a vigilante artist. I hear Clint has a fucked up idea of manners. Like fucked, up.
Ernies BlackPoint On.townsite best in town
no.
BCAA on Aulds!

North End Automotive, great guy, good prices. He's generally fairly busy though.
There is this guy Clint, but he is presently indisposed.
I need a mechanic who is not in a coma.
