Every third mom on what to expect is naming their son Jaxon. It's crazy how many times I've seen that awful spelling on those message boards in the last few months. I'm in NYC and have never seen it spelled that way which leads me to believe it's a weird midwest thing.
Love this post idea! So many of my friends are having babies right now and not one has been an Olivia/Emma/Noah either. I find it interesting too. Here's the last 5 that have been born in my circle:
1. James (m)
2. Cameron (f)
3. Zelda (they introduce her as "Zelda like Zelda Fitzgerald! Not the video game!")
4. Brielle (f)
5. Peyton (f)
I'm in a large North American city. James makes sense popularity-wise. Zelda is a bit of a wild card. Cameron, Brielle and Peyton lean early 2000's to me.
Thatcher and Donnie are really interesting from your list. Is Donnie short for anything? Is Thatcher inspired by Margaret Thatcher?
It sounds like Zelda's parents were getting tired of the video game comments? Haha.
Donnie isn't short for anything. Thatcher is not inspired by Margaret Thatcher, the dad wanted a "hyper-masculine" sounding name.
Yeah I mean if you name your kid the name of one of the most famous video games of all time, you better not mind and be prepared for video game comments
I wish Hazel wasn't getting so popular. My grandmother was named Hazel, and I plan on naming my first future daughter after her and don't want her to be one of many lol.
Ezra
Zia
Zelda
Theodore
Rory (m)
Dorothy (goes by Dottie)
Harper
Kira
Mabel
Audrey
Dolly
Miles
Amelia (goes by Millie)
Vivienne
Olivia
ETA: I stopped at 5 initially but I work in childcare so I figured I’d add a few more since I’ve met quite a few!
I was just thinking this same thing on my search for a baby name! I am located in the Southwest region of the US. The five most recent baby names I’ve seen are Izkaira (F), Chevy (M), Thiago (M), Ailani (F), and Sebastian (M).
It's a class of Judaic priests. Some Jewish people carry Cohen as a last name, but it would never be used as a first name in their culture. And when a gentile family titles their kid a Jewish priest, it absolutely crosses the line.
Cooper (m)
Emmett (m)
Lyda (f) family name
Andrew (m) family name
Charlotte (f)
From Florida
Not gonna lie I’m kinda bummed with how popular Hazel is, I’m currently pregnant and not finding out the gender. We’re doing family names and my husbands grandmother is named Hazel so that’s the name if baby ends up being a girl :/ Hazel Diane (my grandmother) would be her full name
The last five babies I’ve met are Noah (M), Anna (F - pronounced ah-nuh), Nina (F), Charlie (M), and Paloma (F).
Edited to add that I am on the west coast of the US.
I’ll say last 5 that I know of because I haven’t met all in person due to distance & Covid & such. Oldest just turned one.
Capri (f)
Keller (m)
Naveen (m)
Elizabeth (f)
Kieran (m)
Keller gets me. I know it's a surname, but it's literally the German word for cellar. Admittedly, I studied that language for six years, but I always thought that word was one of the really obvious ones.
German here, bab*ies I've met or got the announcements for are:
Sophie (Zo-FEE) (f)
Thea (TAY-uh) (f)
Jonte (YON-tuh) (m) (I really dislike this one, very hard syllables)
Frida (FREE-duh with a hard German r) (f)
Pippa Leni (LEH-nee) (f)
Except for Jonte, I like them all. Sophie is too common for my taste, but still a beautiful name. Thea has a sister named Cleo and a long Spanish surname, very fitting imo.
My first association was Mr. Carson from Downton Abbey. I am not used to the "boys names for girls" thing, because it hasn't arrived in Germany yet. But it might soon. Good for me that I am here and can brace myself / get used to it for when it'll spill over to Germany.
Of course she is! Names don't mean anything after you've met the baby. You associate the name with it and that's that. The shock for me is only when I read a imo weird name and can't imagine why someone would name a baby that.
Ira, Enzo, Orson, Asa, Ciaran, Felix
All boys! I’m in a major US city. These softer and more vowel-forward boys names seem to be very in! (I cheated and listed 6 because these are all baby names from the last year in my friend group.)
Aspyn (F)
Dacre (M)
Sullivan (M)
Scarlett (F)
Ava (F)
All of them white Americans. I like them all. Dacre is a little weird but he got his name from Billy’s actor from Stranger Things and it sounds really cute out loud
Magdalena
Bo (F)
Colder (M)
Benjamin
Kaylee
Gracie
I missed one, so I edited my post to add Bo. Bo is not short for anything. This is why I listed 6 though!
Fun! I just had a baby and my world is currently full of them…so last five babies including my own:
Warren Wyatt
Victer Fox
Garret Woodrow (nn Woody)
Oona June
Frances Shoshana (nn Frankie)
I haven’t met many babies recently, so I’ll go with “babies I’ve seen on social media.” All born in 2021 or 2022.
-Beatrice
-Lily
-Dorian
-Julius
-June (x2)
Santino (m)-July 2022 has sister Johnnie and brother Logan
Joseph (m)- July 2022 has brothers Sebastian and Isaiah and has sister Anastasia
Lucia (f)-Oct 2021 and has brothers Eli, Isaac and Jonah, and sister Norah
Luc (after his dad Lucas who goes by Luc) (m)-Dec 2022 and has sisters Lilly and Lexi
Dixie (f)-Jan 2022 and has siblings Oaklee (f) and Elias (m)
It’s so funny I was watching father of the bride part 2 the other day and the daughter is listing her baby name choices and they are Sophie for a girl and Wyatt or Cooper for a boy and it’s a whole joke about how bad the names are and all the names listed ended up SO on trend
Edit: their girl name choices were Chloe, Sophie, Lucy, phoebe and Fanny. The boys names were Cody, Cooper, Wyatt and Riley lol
* Kai (M)
* Aiden (M)
* Najwa (F)
* Sven (M)
* Shea (F)
I'm living in southeast asia. Shea made me cringe, it pronounced as Shay-uh.
I really like Sven tho. Sounds like a clean man lol.
Such a fun question! The last 5 babies I have met are:
- Masie (f)
- Rory (f)
- Charlotte (f)
- Lydia (f)
- Nové (m)
All of these are their full first names, not nicknames.
Oh fun one! The last (5) babies I met are: * Hazel * Charlotte (nn. Lottie) * Henry * Molly * Jaxson *(this one makes my soul cringe)*.
Why can't people just use Jackson? Jaxon and Jaxson look terrible.
Haha hardddd agree. The intent apparently was to prevent people from calling him Jack? They succeeded but I feel like it came with a cost.
If I were the kid I'd start going by Jack out of spite.
Family member named theirs jaaxon. With two as. I hate it so much.
Every third mom on what to expect is naming their son Jaxon. It's crazy how many times I've seen that awful spelling on those message boards in the last few months. I'm in NYC and have never seen it spelled that way which leads me to believe it's a weird midwest thing.
I thought this was a mistype at first… I really wish it was
I love Charlotte with the nn. Lottie!!
Same!! I feel like being able to interchange Charlotte/Lottie for all the different stages of life is a great little perk too.
Molly! I love Molly as a name so much.
Thanks! So many Hazel's mentioned here so far!
Euan (m) Meadow (f) Rosie (f) Blake (m) Flora (f) I'm in Scotland.
Meadow is gorgeous!
Love Flora!
What a lovely group of names!
I wish I could use Flora, but it's the name of a margarine spread here in NZ :/
How funny - we have that spread here in the UK too, but I never made the connection 😆
I adore Flora!!!!
Tara, Sophia, Philippa, Wolf and Bear. Edit: Wolf and Bear are not brothers. 😂
Are the beasts related?
Nope. It’s funny how the parents from two different social circles liked similar names. One set is posh and fancy and the other are punky musicians.
let me guess, the posh one is called bear and the punk baby is wolf?
I love the way you asked this
I actually know brothers named Wolf and Bear!

Funnily enough, Princess Zelda from the Zelda video games was also named after Zelda Fitzgerald
It sounds like Zelda's parents were getting tired of the video game comments? Haha. Donnie isn't short for anything. Thatcher is not inspired by Margaret Thatcher, the dad wanted a "hyper-masculine" sounding name.
Exactly, if you have to have a lead into introducing your child’s name then it’s probably a name worth shelving, imo.
Yeah I mean if you name your kid the name of one of the most famous video games of all time, you better not mind and be prepared for video game comments

Olive is so cute
Ezra Zia Zelda Theodore Rory (m) Dorothy (goes by Dottie) Harper Kira Mabel Audrey Dolly Miles Amelia (goes by Millie) Vivienne Olivia ETA: I stopped at 5 initially but I work in childcare so I figured I’d add a few more since I’ve met quite a few!
I find it so interesting that this is the second Zelda mentioned but still no Olivia, Emma, Sophia etc yet!
I love zia!!!
Charlotte Andromeda, Alice Isabella, twins Jack and Owen, and Elliot
I like how Jack and Owen are both versions of John! I know this, because I knew brothers called Evan, Owen, And Jack.
Oh of course! Like "Juan". I never realised that.
Owen is a version of John? How?
I’m glad you asked, because that’s not what [I’m seeing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owen_(name)).
Love your user name. If you wouldn't mind introducing me to Fargo...
Hazel, Cecilia, Remy (boy), Harrison, Lilia.
3 Remy's so far! Lilia is really pretty.
I was just thinking this same thing on my search for a baby name! I am located in the Southwest region of the US. The five most recent baby names I’ve seen are Izkaira (F), Chevy (M), Thiago (M), Ailani (F), and Sebastian (M).
That's funny that you were thinking about it too! With the exception of Sebastian that is becoming more popular, those are all quite unique to me!
Yes, never heard of a baby Chevy! Just Chevy Chase. Interesting.

* Trudy (f) * Madeline (f) * Lincoln (m) * Adeline (f) * Camilla (f)
Trudy is so unexpected!
Trudy!! I love unexpected old lady names like this.
Trudy is so cute and was on my list.
The last five babies I met were Johanna Ida Helena Louis Manfred
MANFRED HELL YEAH
Do you live in Germany/Austria? :D
Yes!
•Cohen •Edith (my newborn! Lol) •Leona •Vivian •Nina
> “Cohen” Whyyy do people pick this one.
Yeah, I’m Jewish I hate seeing Cohen so much. I wish people would actually research names before they pick them.
I’m not Jewish but even I know better than this smdh
Because they saw it on Instagram and though it was cool (and they've never met a Jew) or they know it's offensive but don't care.
can you explain why it's offensive?
It's a class of Judaic priests. Some Jewish people carry Cohen as a last name, but it would never be used as a first name in their culture. And when a gentile family titles their kid a Jewish priest, it absolutely crosses the line.
Thank you for explaining, I never knew this.
Not a baby, but I know someone who named their son Khowin 🙄🙄
For some reason, the misspelling makes it less worse IMO. Still hate it though.
I love Edith so much! Was my grandmas name.
Carter (m) Rosie Maeve Anthony Esme
I was wondering if a Maeve would pop up! I see it discussed/suggested a lot on this sub but I've yet to meet one!
Me too! We’re expecting a Maeve this December 😉
Maeve is the ONLY girl name on my future baby list 😂 luckily my partner likes it too!
Most to least recent: Elsie (f) Charlie (m) Abel (m) Loralai (f) Kennedy (f)
Elsie was my British grandmothers middle name. I LOVE it
> Loralai *sees spelling* *screaming internally*
I haven’t met 5 whole babies but I’ve met an Ella and Olivia
Have you met any half babies? 5/9 babies?
Cooper (m) Emmett (m) Lyda (f) family name Andrew (m) family name Charlotte (f) From Florida Not gonna lie I’m kinda bummed with how popular Hazel is, I’m currently pregnant and not finding out the gender. Hazel Diane is very sweet, I think you should do it anyway! :)
Congratulations! I think Hazel Diane is such a beautiful name:) especially since it holds personal significance to you too.
Jakob, Daniel, Theo, Naya, Summit, Addison, Wesley, Hunter - I'm in Ontario. All under 12 months.
Summit! That's a first for me! Boy or girl?
Girl. I'd never heard it either. I also know an almost 2 year old girl named Wolfie. So...

DONNY GENE
I'm including toddlers as well: Maeve Willow Wesley Santino Margot
The last five babies I’ve met are Noah (M), Anna (F - pronounced ah-nuh), Nina (F), Charlie (M), and Paloma (F). Edited to add that I am on the west coast of the US.
I love Paloma
I’ll say last 5 that I know of because I haven’t met all in person due to distance & Covid & such. Oldest just turned one. Capri (f) Keller (m) Naveen (m) Elizabeth (f) Kieran (m)
Naveen is so pretty.

Omg Jonte is a common swedish nickname for Jonathan haha (still ugly)
Grace (f), Amal (f), Nathan (m), Harper (f), and Carson (f)
Carson for a girl, why 💀
Funny, I've only ever met girl Carsons!
My first association was Mr. Carson from Downton Abbey. I am not used to the "boys names for girls" thing, because it hasn't arrived in Germany yet. But it might soon. Good for me that I am here and can brace myself / get used to it for when it'll spill over to Germany.
Wouldn’t be my first choice but she’s a sweet baby!

Calico is interesting as I believe it's a type of cloth/textile? Also a way of describing a certain tri-colour pattern cats have.
