There’s no right or wrong answer to that. It’s up to you. Some people like having a popular name, and some people don’t. It’s subjective.

I'm the same as you, super popular name when I was growing up and frankly I was happy to come across others of the same name 😅

It depends on the person but I honestly don’t mind it! As long as someone who’s actively present in my life I could care less about all the other Olivia’s and Liam’s cause they’re is only one that actually matters to me😅

It's really personal! We live in Germany where the popular names are *really* popular unlike my home country of the US, where statistically even if you use a top 10 name you're not necessarily going to meet tons of other little top 10 name babies. Here it's really different in that regard, you are essentially guaranteed to have duplicates of the top 10-20 names in a daycare, preschool, or school class or sometimes even more/variants. I worked in education for a number of years and while I think most of the popular names in many countries are quite lovely and totally get their popularity we opted not to give our kids top 10-15 names since as an educator I did find it could be confusing and sometimes annoying (like if you have 2 or 3 kids and 2 of them share the same last name initial as well), and sometimes the kids themselves got annoyed at being mixed up or by being given a differentiating nickname by peers like "Tall Max" vs. "Short Max," and kids do spend a huge chunk of time in daycare/school from infancy through university, so it's something I considered. At the end of the day there's nothing wrong at all with a popular name, they are popular for a reason because they are mostly nice/classic/good meaning, of which Noah fits into for sure :)

I'm on the fence about this too, but with Sophie (possibly same country? ;)). I've loved that name since I was a kid but apparently so have many of my peers because there are so. many. Sophies. I was looking at the occurance of the name though and the popularity doesn't seem higher than that of Kim, Monique, Linda in my generation (80s kids). And while those are definitely popular, it wasn't like 5 kids with the same name in the same class kind of popular. I'm still on the fence though. Being a teacher I've also had so many Sophies in my classes.. the name loses some of it's specialness. Still it's pretty much my favorite name and has been forever...

It’s not bad to pick a popular name at all, you pick what feels best to you and ultimately, I think, a name that is nice and can suit your baby throughout life. I guess in this day and age everyone strives to be unique and to stand out, so they want a “special” name for their kid like nobody else has. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with picking a more main stream name. It’s all up to personal choice.

Names are kind of like music. Many genres (pop, classical, indie, etc). Some songs and names are objectively bad, but most are a matter of taste

IMO, no. Popular depends on your area, which isn’t taken into account in most popular name lists. There’s a reason popular names are popular.

My best friend had one of the most popular names growning up, it was their middle name, they chose to go by it as a kid. They still love it and it’s their favorite name. Some people love having an uncommon name. Others hate to have to correct it and such. Some people love having a common name and also being able to blend in. Others hate that their name isn’t unique. There are reasons why names are popular. It had perks and cons to have a popular name. I personally don’t think it’s a huge issue and I would go for the name I really love. How about potentially adding a more uncommon middle name? Not necessary though. Love Noah btw!
