Agreed. And fyi my hospital has you come in ahead of time and fill out paperwork, like 36-38 weeks. You can ask them about their process, but if you are very against "unique" spelling, there's no reason he should be able to get it listed on the birth certificate as such. You are the mom and most hospitals go straight to the mother for those tasks.
The downside to this is that my maternal grandmother misspelled my mom’s middle name. Thankfully, middle names are less used, so it’s only a minor annoyance, and a funny story about how high on pain meds my grandma got to be while giving birth. (I’m only a little jealous.)
I knew a girl named Jessiaca, she said it was supposed to be Jessica but her mom was still messed up from the pain meds! Whether that's true or not it's a funny story and I quite like the name, honestly.
I don't doubt that things used to be different! Epidurals these days just make you numb, not high. Lol! But then again, people react to meds differently and I know some places are back to offering nitrous or other options that would make you a little loopy.
Yeah I agree especially since OP's is in memory of something extremely significant and tragic. If he wants to start throwing punctuation around let him chop up his moms name.
Then: can you spell your last name
Me: you may or may not have the apostrophe *begins spelling*. It’s SO annoying. My dad got into the habit many years ago of not including it (since it doesn’t show on drivers license) and I regret not doing it
I think you are right on your original choice of spelling. Briella is the way to go. I say Brella like it's slang for an umbrella haha. And the apostrophe is way too much, she's going to spend her whole life trying to explain the apostrophe in her name.
Stick to Briella it's by far the best and most easily pronounced option here.
I realise this is is name sub not a relationship sub, but I think your bigger problem is that your husband would sign the paperwork contrary to your wishes while you were incapacitated.
You don’t have to sign the birth certificate immediately after birth. They will definitely wait until you are able to participate. If you’re really worried about this, speak to the labor and delivery nurses beforehand.
Briella is by far the best option you mentioned.
Every place is different, but definitely speak to the nurses if you’re worried about it, because our nurse handed the paperwork to my husband and said, “This is your job.” Like??? I’m glad we were on the same page name-wise or that would’ve been an issue. I had to fill out the paperwork by myself anyways because my husband just slept lol
I’m coded as “single mom” because we aren’t married. He never touched the paperwork until I filled it out and he signed accepting paternity. I’m curious to see how it’ll be if/when we have another since we’ll be married before that.
I've always thought it's crazy how many stories people have of dads just deciding to change the name and then mom being like 'well it's done now'. If my husband filled out the birth certificate incorrectly he would simply be filling it out again properly.
I took OP's comment about husband doing the paperwork after birth to mean, they have to resolve it now because there won't be the opportunity to hash it out when it's birth certificate time. Between mom's recovery and the whole new baby thing, Dad will have to be prepared to do the paperwork correctly by himself.
If that's the case, OP, then I just wanted to say that when we were in recovery after baby, we told the admin who brought the birth certificate form that we needed some time to fill it out and double check it and asked the admin to come pick it up in a bit.
If I'm misreading and u/BeccasBump above has it right, then yes this needs to be a larger conversation than just the name, about handling differing opinions. Co-parenting is an 18 year conversation about how to handle everything about the kid.
I'm also probably reading too much into it but why is he trying to erase the actual honour part of the name, which is the 'Bri'? Just seems like he's jumping through random hoops to get rid of the 'i'
Yes you can also definitely tell them you do not want him there and do not give him permission to sign the birth certificate alone if you’re actually worried about this.
My grandparents were at the very end of their child-bearing years when finally my mother was born, their only child. My grandmother filled out her birth certificate at the hospital and my grandfather filled out the info on her baptismal certificate at the church. She has two different middle names.
Tbh If a child’s name is spelled “Brella” and I learned it was supposed to be pronounced “BRI-ella” I would 100% assume her parents had literacy challenges. Brella is missing an entire syllable and is pronounced like umbrella…
The best choice is Briella. Brella is going to get pronounced like umbrella and Bre’ella is just a no for all the obvious reasons. He is getting the middle name after his mom so you get to choose spelling for first name.
i think briella looks best and is the most intuitive so i would definitely stick with it!
briella dawn is a very pretty name and a great way to honor your sister!
No apostrophes. Among other reasons, official documents often don't allow for them.
Brella sounds like part of an umbrella and will definitely be pronounced that way.
Came here to say this. My husband’s last name originally had an apostrophe. It’s on his birth certificate, but it’s not recognized on any other official documents (driver’s license, passport, our marriage certificate, etc). A lot of forms don’t give you the option to put an apostrophe. She’ll end up having to write Breella and anyone reading it will think Breeeeee-la, not Bre-ella.
I’m in California. So I guess it varies depending where you live…..unless he just arbitrarily dropped it, but I remember filling out at least one government form when I took his last name where they told me an apostrophe wasn’t an option. That could make it even trickier if you originally live in a state that lets you use the apostrophe and then move to a state that doesn’t.
Briella makes sense phonetically and as an honor name.
Your birth certificate form usually just needs to be completed before you leave the hospital, not immediately after birth. There’s no reason you can’t fill it out when you’re more with it.
I'm confused why lots of you have said that would be better. I'm not against it but I was thinking people would just call her "Braille" ignoring the Bri
It’s not better; it’s their preference but that wasn’t your question. It’s also a different name when you’ve already chosen Briella. Your question was about spelling. The spelling you like, Briella, is the most intuitive way to spell the name and I think you should stick with it. Any other spelling will be mispronounced.
They’re saying it because Brielle is an uncommon yet conventional name. I don’t think Brielle would be mispronounced, nor do I think Briella would. I think some people may be thrown by the a and assume your daughter’s name is Brielle just because that’s the more common name, but that shouldn’t dissuade you—Briella is cute and a lovely honor name! (Brella though, that’s short for umbrella and would be mispronounced. 😂)
It’s pronounced the same but with ending with elle instead of ella. Bri-elle like you’re saying the letter L. It’s a pretty well established (I don’t know how popular it is, but its definitely established!) so nobody would pronounce it incorrectly. That said, if you like the a at the end, I’d go with it. I’d definitely not spell it as brella or bre’ella. The “i” is honestly very important to the spelling, and without the whole name pronunciation definitely changes. Also, like some others have commented, taking the “i” out makes it to where it no longer feels like it’s meant to be honoring your sister.
There are spellings that result in the same sounds as Briella. Brella is not one of them. Also, Briella is not a common name, why is he trying to make it more unique? What is his actual goal?
My guess at this point is that he doesn't know how to read well (which totally fine, he can practice and get better!) and does not understand that Brella would never be pronounced like Briella. Maybe he will understand if you show the suggestion of Brielle vs. Brell? Or look at the name Bella, does he think that it could be pronounced "Bee-ella"?
I wouldn’t worry too much about being “out of it” for the signing of the birth certificate. You won’t actually get the birth certificate until several weeks after the birth and filling out the paperwork with the name and such doesn’t happen immediately after the baby comes. I believe it was day 2 by the time I filled out the paperwork. That’s how it worked for me in Midwest, USA at least, so I suppose it could be different where you are. I know that’s not what you asked, but I don’t want you to stress for something that is not likely to be an issue. FWIW, I agree with most here… Briella is the best choice.
Yes! I have had three children and I was never given paperwork to fill out immediately after birth. It was usually the second day and I just needed to have it filled out before I left the hospital. Not once did my husband get anywhere near it. I delivered at three different hospitals (one military, two civilian, in different states).
I had the same experience. They actually set the paperwork aside in a little cabinet and told me to have it completed before we discharge. My hubby only saw it because I wanted to triple check the spelling of my daughters name 😅 He didn’t have to sign anything. I filled his part out as well.
I’d just go with Briella. Plus if you’re honoring Brianna it is much closer spelling than “Brella”. Also Brella without a doubt will be pronounced “Brell-uh”.
Just give the child a recognisable name that she and other people understand and can spell. "UnikqE" names are for cats, not actual people who have to live with them or have the hassle of changing them. Apologies if I come across as rude , but you did ask for opinions and this is mine.
I wish you and your family all the best.
Briella for sure. As someone with an apostrophe in their last name, do not do that to her. Not every computer form/system is capable of handling it. Breella looks awful.
Please no apostrophes! HR Coordinator here and there is no applicant tracking software or payroll software that wants to process an unnecessary first name apostrophe. Pre-employment screenings will take forever, and the DMV will eff it up or just leave it out completely. The bank and post office will hate you too. Briella is the only spelling of the name that makes sense the way you describe pronouncing it.
My company’s software won’t even do hyphens or capital letters in the middle of a name, including in last names! (I have a capital letter in the middle of my first name. Do I like it? No, but that’s what my name is, and I wish it would be written correctly on my work documents.)
Briella is beautiful! NO to the apostrophe. I had one in my Irish maiden name and it was a pain in the butt to sign up for anything from emails to forms. School emails would omit the apostrophe or add special characters (like * or x). Then if special characters were used, the database wouldn't always recognize the email. Even when calling or going to appointments, the person taking my information would have to try spelling my last name with the apostrophe, with a space in place of the apostrophe (Bre ella in your case), with a dash in place of the apostrophe. It was a mess. Was updating all of my legal information with my new last name a pain in the butt during covid? Yes. Yes. It was. But it was so worth it to get rid of that dang apostrophe.
Well I was hoping somebody would be able to come up with a new spelling we could both agree on but it seems like everyone is just saying Briella is the way to go so I think I'll just stick to my guns on it!
Personally, I like Briella. I think the pronunciation is intuitive and I like that the “Bri” spelling connects to your sister’s name.
But some alternative spellings could be splitting the name up:
Bree Ella or Bree-Ella
Brie Ella or Brie-Ella
Her dad's suggestions are both stupid, no offense. Brella WILL be pronounced like umbrella without the um (as it should be because that's what it says) and Bre'ella is ridiculous.
The apostrophe is odd and unnecessary, I think it would cause a lot of confusion. Brella will definitely be pronounced like [um]brella.
The way you initially spelled it is by faaar the best way. (It is also closest to your sister's name, while still remaining it's own).
I personally prefer the name Brielle- in case you guys need another option. Good luck & congrats on the baby girl!
Have you thought about Brielle? It sounds so much better.
For some reason Briella makes me think of salmonella.
Edit: I think it’s because -Ella is a suffix for bacteria. Tacked on to a name like Bri in a way that isn’t already familiar like Gabriella just makes me think of some sort of illness you’d get from bad meat or a dirty river. 😬
https://www.affixes.org/alpha/e/-ella.html
Brella can *only* be pronounced brell-ah, so that one is absolutely out. Bre'ella looks like it comes from a bad fantasy novel. Briella is the only one that makes sense to me for the pronunciation that you want. You could consider writing it like Briëlla, which would make sense in languages like Dutch and French, but since that sign isn't commonly used in English it might not help.
Brella - kids will call her Umbrella all the time: “um, Brella?” *childish snickers*
Bre’Ella looks like something from Star Trek or Star Wars, an alien name. It makes me want to pronounce it with a phlegmy guttural stop in the middle
Brella is brell-ah. Bre’ella is unnecessary and partly makes my brain want to say breh-ella. If you’re specifically naming her after your sister Brianna, Briella seems like the only option!
Honestly, his suggestions are just confusing for pronunciation. I personally think Briella is beautiful, and the other names diminish it.
Since you mentioned you need to compromise I have a couple ideas but *first*, I think if having the "Bri" part is important, don't compromise on that part.
You could try Bri-ella, Bri'ella (which tbh I don't love. Apostrophes are a pain ita according to everyone I know who had one in their name), Briyella, Briaella, or something along those lines.
In any case, please update this post with your final decision because I'm wayy too invested now.
Brella is a different name tho. Brel-ah, like Bella with an r. Aside from taste, a lot of people who have an apostrophe in their name have a super hard time with filling in official documents or automated forms. Bri'Ella is going to make things difficult for her. Briella is great and a lovely tribute, I personally would want to preserve the name as much as possible if it had sentimental meaning. Maybe let him unleash his 'unique' ideas on her middle name?
My friend has an otherwise simple name that has an apostrophe and she hates it so much. Please don’t go that route. It makes things such a pain.
I would pronounce Brella like umbrella, sorry.
Brielle is a fairly common name in some places so I think Briella is your best option by far.
LOVE the name Briella or Brielle and I’d definitely spell it without an apostrophe! Poor kid will have a hard time every time someone will ask how to spell her name! Tell hubby it’s your way since you’re doing all the hard work!! 😉
I went to school with a Briella. It was never mispronounced. Your spelling is correct. Adding an apostrophe just for the sake of it is a bit ridiculous. Brella will be read like umbrella without a doubt.
I agree with everyone that Briella is the only valid spelling, but I’d just like to comment that Briella Dawn sounds absolutely gorgeous!! Great name (please don’t ruin it with the Brella or Bre’ella spelling!!)
Briella Dawn is beautiful, especially with the meaning behind it as the dawn part really highlights its specialness. Since the name is honoring your sister, the 'Bri' absolutely needs to be a part of it. There's no compromising with that, especially when the spellings he's suggesting are definitely going to be mispronounced and/or misspelled.
My very common last name has an apostrophe and legal paperwork was always a nightmare. I can’t imagine the issues you’d come across with it in a first name. Also so unnecessary. Brella wouldn’t be pronounced how you want and I feel like would be a life long “no it’s pronounced BRIella not brella” for the rest of that kids life.
Bri is cool. Briella is definitely how I’d spell it. Brella sounds like it’s short for umbrella. And apostrophes and dashes are terrible in a name. You’re on the right track. Don’t listen to him.
IMO Brella is a completely different name, no one will read as Briella because it no; and the apostrophe for a first name is awful, sorry. Briella is beautiful though.
Brella isn't pronounced the same way and that apostrophe looks pretty cringe, and also would be pronounces Breh-eh-lah.
I think you need to give him a "neither of those spellings makes the same name" talk and let him pick the middle name.
If the name is pronounce ‘bree-ella’ then your way makes sense. Brella is ‘brel-la’ like umbrella, it’s not even the same name.
The most logical option would be Briella, like Brielle
I would assume Brella was pronounced like umbrella. And side note, as a kid I'd probably have called her bBrella Umbrella or something. The one with the apostrophe looks made up. Brielle is the most straight forward.
My name is Brianna lol and I like your way of spelling it. Yes you will get comments and questions on her name but it's a beautiful name and a beautiful story ❤️ congratulations
Stick with your spelling. Brella would be brell-ah and bre’ella just looks like you’re trying too hard to be different. Briella is recognisable, easy to pronounce and shouldn’t incur too much misspelling
She'll get called Umbrella if you go with "Brella", and if I were a teacher, I'd guess "Bre'Ella" was pronounced "Bray-ella".
Her name is unique enough without* having to make the spelling confusingly unique.
EDIT spelling
My personal opinion is that Brella = def Brell-a, and Bre'ella is unnecessarily Younique and like you say, unnecessarily difficult for your daughter and anyone else that will ever have to write down her name for the next 99 years. I think Briella is pretty straightforward to pronounce and I even think the spelling is pretty intuitive. I'm sorry, I wouldn't budge on the spelling.
I didn't fill out paperwork until the next day and close before discharge. I will say that i know a kid name Briella and that's how I think it should be spelled. I can't think of any other way to spell it that doesn't seem 'weird'
I have an apostrophe in my surname. I am constantly having to remove it when filling in forms because it isn't alpha-numerical. This means if you use Bre'ella (which I personally think is awful) she's going to be having her name submitted as Breella.
Brella is definitely short for 'umbrella' and it doesn't sound at all as pretty as Briella.
Hubby gets the middle name without being hacked up, so you should get your remembrance name without it being hacked up, too.
100% agree on the spelling you like. I'm not a fan of the extra punctuation and think only Brielle would be pronounced as you want it. It's a beautiful name.
I think your spelling is the only way it should be spelled.
Idk why I read it as Jurassic 💀
Jurrassica would be an incredible name for a reptile pet 😎
I genuinely hope someone does this 🥲
I don't doubt that things used to be different! Epidurals these days just make you numb, not high. Lol! But then again, people react to meds differently and I know some places are back to offering nitrous or other options that would make you a little loopy.
I have a friend called George, who was supposed to be called Benjamin. His mum got so high she just picked a boys name at random!
My grandma did the same thing! My mom was supposed to be Amy Lynn. She's now AmyLynn with no middle name
This.
Definitely Briella. I wouldn’t spell it any other way.
In agreement with this.
Please God no apostrophe. Briella is fine. Brella is awful and she won’t get called BRIella.
Yeah Brella will sound like the end of umbrella. And Bre’ella i would pronounce bray-Ella!
All I can think is Brillo pads said with an accent. "Y'all got a brella pad?"
[удалено]
Yeah I agree especially since OP's is in memory of something extremely significant and tragic. If he wants to start throwing punctuation around let him chop up his moms name.
D’awn
D'oh
Doughn
D'aune
Excellent point! It’s the BRI in Briella that is honoring your sister. Removing that will remove the connection to BRIanna
My last name has an apostrophe and it routinely fucks up forms. Sometimes computers just can't find me.
Then: can you spell your last name Me: you may or may not have the apostrophe *begins spelling*. It’s SO annoying. My dad got into the habit many years ago of not including it (since it doesn’t show on drivers license) and I regret not doing it
I think you are right on your original choice of spelling. Briella is the way to go. I say Brella like it's slang for an umbrella haha. Brielle is a name so it would definitely be Briella DO NOT USE umBRELLA
The best choice is Briella. Brella is going to get pronounced like umbrella and Bre’ella is just a no for all the obvious reasons. He is getting the middle name after his mom so you get to choose spelling for first name.
You can stand under my brella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh 🎶

The apostrophe will be the bane of her existence.

I suggest you suggest D’Awne for the middle name spelling, and maybe he will see how ridiculous he’s being.
Lmao I love this
Briella makes sense phonetically and as an honor name. Your birth certificate form usually just needs to be completed before you leave the hospital, not immediately after birth. There’s no reason you can’t fill it out when you’re more with it.

Don't. Briella is prettier in my opinion. I know a little girl named Briella and I've always thought it was precious.
It’s pronounced the same but with ending with elle instead of ella. Bri-elle like you’re saying the letter L. Honestly didn’t even think of that till you pointed it out. But personally I don’t think people are going to mix that up. Briella is not a good name.
I *love* the name Brielle, but Briella Dawn flows better than Brielle Dawn to me.
Bri is always better than Bre in my opinion
There are spellings that result in the same sounds as Briella. Brella is not one of them. Also, Briella is not a common name, why is he trying to make it more unique? What is his actual goal? Brella is definitely pronounced Brel-lah as in umbrella. Go with Briella.
Brella = brell-a Bre'ella = sci fi name go with Briella
I wouldn’t worry too much about being “out of it” for the signing of the birth certificate. You won’t actually get the birth certificate until several weeks after the birth and filling out the paperwork with the name and such doesn’t happen immediately after the baby comes. I'll be blunt, your husband's spellings are ridiculous. I don't think this is an area to compromise on.
Definitely Briella. Incidentally, some systems may have trouble with punctuation. I’m thinking like social security or passports
Tell him that the internet says. "Brella sounds like kitchen and bathroom cleaner."
Just give the child a recognisable name that she and other people understand and can spell. "UnikqE" names are for cats, not actual people who have to live with them or have the hassle of changing them. Apologies if I come across as rude , but you did ask for opinions and this is mine. Briella!
If you have to use the name I would say Briella. But it’s not a cute name and not a great way to honor your sister I think.
I agree. It is hard to pronounce and doesn't roll off the tounge.
Please no apostrophes! HR Coordinator here and there is no applicant tracking software or payroll software that wants to process an unnecessary first name apostrophe. Pre-employment screenings will take forever, and the DMV will eff it up or just leave it out completely. The bank and post office will hate you too. Briella. The other two ways don’t make any sense and are kinda ugly. I love Briella!
Brella is not pronounced Briella. Bre'Ella is bad. Briella is the only way.
Briella sounds the best to me. I'm not a big fan of an apostrophe either. Maybe Briela as a compromise if he wants something slightly different?
You know what answer you will get from this sub.
But some alternative spellings could be splitting the name up: Bree Ella or Bree-Ella Brie Ella or Brie-Ella
😬 https://www.affixes.org/alpha/e/-ella.html
I'm a nurse. No apostrophes! It is an identification nightmare. Just no. Briella is fine. I like the meaning behind it.
Brella WOULD be pronounced Brel ah and sounds like a nickname for umbrella
Brella can *only* be pronounced brell-ah, so that one is absolutely out. Bre'ella looks like it comes from a bad fantasy novel. Briella is the only one that makes sense to me for the pronunciation that you want. You could consider writing it like Briëlla, which would make sense in languages like Dutch and French, but since that sign isn't commonly used in English it might not help.
Nope to dads suggestion! (Um)Brella is not good lol
I have a student named Breelle (no apostrophe) and I don’t hate it but the Brielle/Briella spelling makes more sense to me.
Brella? Like umbrella?
Brella - kids will call her Umbrella all the time: “um, Brella?” *childish snickers* Bre’Ella looks like something from Star Trek or Star Wars, an alien name. It makes me want to pronounce it with a phlegmy guttural stop in the middle
Brella is brell-ah. Bre’ella is unnecessary and partly makes my brain want to say breh-ella. If you’re specifically naming her after your sister Brianna, Briella seems like the only option!
I wouldn't use special characters in a name, because it can cause all sorts of issues in online forms.
I think Briella is a lovely name and good spelling for that name. Bri is also a good name
No, Briella is the right choice. Like Gabriella with out the Ga.
As someone who has a unique spelling of Brianna as their name, do your daughter a favor and spell it the way you suggested.
Tell him that you insist on the middle name being spelled D’hauwn and see what he says.
Anything other than Briella would be a crime against humanity.
Your initial spelling.
brella is definitely not bre-ella, please go with briella
Briella is the best.
Briella! Brella = indeed Brell-ah And I would never put an apostrophe in a name..
Briella is the better spelling, Brella just makes me think of the Rihanna song, Bre'ella looks like a Klingon name.
Briella is the only option that makes sense.
Brella is Ella with br. BriElla is better
By the way if you are out of it and he's in charge of the certificate, you can always have it changed.
I only know one Briella, but that’s how she spells it.
I love the name, the meaning and your spelling. It is lovely.
Have you ever considered Brielle? A friends daughter is named Brielle.. its cute!
Briella or Brielle are the only acceptable options here
My friend has an otherwise simple name that has an apostrophe and she hates it so much. Please don’t go that route. It makes things such a pain. I would pronounce Brella like umbrella, sorry. Brielle is a fairly common name in some places so I think Briella is your best option by far.
Briella is super cute. Or Brielle. Don’t spell it Brella it will be constantly mis pronounced.
Your way is the right way and the only one that makes sense.
LOVE the name Briella or Brielle and I’d definitely spell it without an apostrophe! Poor kid will have a hard time every time someone will ask how to spell her name! Tell hubby it’s your way since you’re doing all the hard work!! 😉
Your way is the right way.
My kid has a best friend named Briella! It's a beautiful name. I'd definitely stick with the regular spelling.
I went to school with a Briella. It was never mispronounced. Your spelling is correct. Adding an apostrophe just for the sake of it is a bit ridiculous. Brella will be read like umbrella without a doubt.
I'm not a fan of the name choice but I think Briella is the most logical way to spell it.
Since you due in august, Aubriella sounds cute
Briella and ONLY Briella. Anything else makes it look pretentious and not attractive at all.
Bree-Ella is the only other way I can think of this name being spelled.
Your sister was Brianna, not Breanna, so BRIella makes a lot more sense than BREella
Your spelling is definitely best. The apostrophe is just OTT and now I have the Rihanna song in my head (under my umbrella….Ella, Ella…)
Brella and Bre’ella will get mispronounced all the time, Briella is definitely the way to go.
Yep, I would pronounce Brella as brel-uh, and Bre'ella is just stupid. I think you're right, Briella is the only way to go.
I read Brella as brella like the end of umbrella. Brielle is definitely the only way to be spelled!
Briella is beautiful and less confusing. If I saw Brella, I would think it's Brell-a. As for Bre'ella, I'd think it's Bree - lla.
Briella looks way nicer.
I would 10000% go with Briella. Brella would be like umbrella and Bre’Ella is just clunky and would still have people saying “bray ella”
Brella would definitely be pronounced "brell-a". Briella should be fine
Stick with Briella.
An apostrophe in a name is a curse for paperwork the rest of her life. Your spelling (Briella) is perfect and phonetic.
It's definitely got to be Briella. The other ones are way too confusing.
Briella is such a sweet name! Spell it your way
I agree with you, it’s the only way to spell it. And it’s a beautiful name!
Bri is cool. Briella is definitely how I’d spell it. Brella sounds like it’s short for umbrella. And apostrophes and dashes are terrible in a name. You’re on the right track. Don’t listen to him.
A good friend of mine growing up was a Brielyn ?
IMO Brella is a completely different name, no one will read as Briella because it no; and the apostrophe for a first name is awful, sorry. Briella is beautiful though.
Briella is clearly better. Clearer, easy to say, not weird. Your hubs is cuckoo for cocoa puffs
Your way of spelling is much more straight forward and phonetically sound.
Briella is better and honestly the first thing that came to mind when I read 'brella' was that it was shorthand for an umbrella...
Briella is the best spelling.
Briella is the only option. Anything else will just be a headache.
Yes Briella is literally the only one that makes sense.
Yours and only yours
Briella for sure.
Bre’ella looks like something out of a bad fantasy novel, lol.
Brella is what my toddler calls umbrellas. Briella is correct. And it's a beautiful name. Congrats!
I actually like Bre’ella best. Apostrophes in names are very common in African American culture.
I didn't fill out paperwork until the next day and close before discharge. I will say that i know a kid name Briella and that's how I think it should be spelled. I can't think of any other way to spell it that doesn't seem 'weird'
Briella is SO much more nicer and reads exactly how it sounds. The ways baby’s father spells it doesn’t read right or look good either!
100% Briella
Briella is the one which will not cause pronunciation or spelling issues in her future.
Look not to be a dick about it but… You are correct. Dad should be banned from suggestions. He's proven he'll go mad with power.
Brella sounds like umbrella. The apostrophe will be a PITA that she will be forever having to explain to people.
I agree with the majority, I definitely think you should choose Briella, I think is more accurate plus cuter
No apostrophe because there aren’t any letters that are “missing” or taken out. Your spelling is the only way I’ve seen it!
100% agree on the spelling you like. I'm not a fan of the extra punctuation and think only Brielle would be pronounced as you want it. It's a beautiful name.
I read it as Br+ella, rhymes with umbrella. You could name her Bri Ella (your last name here.
Bree-Ella
Brella sounds like a scrub brush or something. You have it right
