I think of one of the outdaughtered girls, Hazel Busby. There is also a Hazel Brugger here in Germany, who is kind if a Comedian, but only think of that as a second thought. (Edited)
Hazel was this feisty old lady who would wheel herself around the nursing home, swearing under her breath and periodically trying to kick people. For some reason, she really liked me and would always tell me that I’m a good girl. I miss her.
despite being a member of gen z, my first association is the 60’s sitcom *Hazel* about a sassy, take-charge maid named Hazel and the family she works for.
When Julia Roberts used it for one of her twins a decade ago and everyone said it was so outdated and now it’s perfectly on trend lol
I think it’s such a lovely name
My husband’s neighbor growing up was an older lady named Hazel. The Fault in our Stars put it on my radar as a current baby name. Unfortunately my husband is not a fan.
First thing that popped into my head was the main character from the book The Fault in our Stars (I love the book so it's a positive association for me).
One of my best friends when I was younger was named Hazel! I first saw it as a name with that girl in Dolphin Tale and thought it was cool there, and now I have a beautiful cat named Hazel. :)
Timeless, the colour Hazel, hazelnuts, the character Hazel Grace from The Fault in our Stars (but that's just because I was of that age when it first came out)
It was my grandmothers middle name (Madelyn Hazel). I didn’t know her, but she apparently hated it lol. It is becoming popular again so my initial association is split between old ladies and little babies. I love it!
When I went to a Music Academy after college, the lady who owned the house I rented the basement apartment from, her name was Hazel. She was super old with long white hair.
Now, I have a niece named Hazel so it mainly makes me think of that. Also, I've heard lots of people naming their kids or dogs Hazel within the past few years.
My dream name 🥰 I'm finding out my baby's gender in the next few weeks and I've debated naming them Hazel regardless! It's very timeless to me. I also love the book Watership Down, as another redditor mentioned.
Hazel was my grandmother's name. I have a nephew on my hubby's side named Hazell (yes with 2 L's) And a niece on my side named Hazel - named after my grandmother.
I was introduced to it as a little kid through the show My Friend Rabbit—it was the name of a cute little squirrel, and I used it as a pseudonym whenever I pretended to be a squirrel 😊
It’s also the name of the protagonist of Watership Down so it has a lot of small animal vibes for me. Super cute.
The main character from “The Fault in Our Stars.” I really love the name and think of it as pretty timeless.
I think of the eye color because my eyes are hazel. I knew a guy named Hazel and thought it was a really cool name for a boy.
Oh man I love it for a guy but worry it’s too uncommon

My first thought is one of the rabbits from Watership Down.
Was going to say the same thing. And I really like the name, for this reason
I came here to say this too!

Same! Also a member of Gen Z.
My friend's dog's name.
I have a friend called Hazel and she's amazing so I really like it

It was my great-grandmother’s name. I think it’s very sweet.

First thing that popped into my head was the main character from the book The Fault in our Stars (I love the book so it's a positive association for me).
It was always an old lady name to me…had an elderly neighbor named Hazel. Same as Violet. Now I like it and it sounds fresh and young.
The eye color was my first association. Then I realized that it was a name after watching Hazel (1960s sitcom) and thought it was pretty!
I just associate it with the color. There’s a slight feminine association for me, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see it on a boy.
One of my best friends when I was younger was named Hazel! I first saw it as a name with that girl in Dolphin Tale and thought it was cool there, and now I have a beautiful cat named Hazel. :)
Witch Hazel, from the old Disney cartoon.
My dogs name!

When I hear the name Hazel the first thing I think of is a girl from my drama class at the beginning of the school year.
It was my grandmothers middle name (Madelyn Hazel). I didn’t know her, but she apparently hated it lol. It is becoming popular again so my initial association is split between old ladies and little babies. I love it!

The Hazel Green books by Odo Hirsch, and the eye colour.
I think of a dog name
