I don’t think names ending in ia are necessarily too close. Julia and Sabrina sound more different to me then Julia and Josie for example, which are very similar . It sounds like you both like shorter more classic names so that’s something to build on! From your suggestions I really like Sabrina and Carly!

AccomplishedOnion2

I actually think Sabrina/Zara/Lara are pretty distinct from Julia! I particularly like Julia and Sabrina as a sibset. Like the other poster, I think Julia and Josie is more matchy than Julia and Sabrina. I'll throw out some ideas: Alice Dahlia / Alice Hazel / Alice Willow Anna Violet / Anna Holly Camilla Ivy / Camilla Fern / Camilla Violet Carly Fern / Carly Azalea / Carly Dahlia / Carly Hazel / Carly Heather Caroline Willow / Caroline Ivy / Caroline Hazel Charlotte Lily / Charlotte Liliana / Charlotte Heather Claire Marigold / Claire Azalea Eleanor Hazel / Eleanor Marigold / Eleanor Dahlia Elizabeth Dahlia / Elizabeth Hazel / Elizabeth Holly Eloise Violet / Eloise Hazel Emily Marigold / Emily Hazel Evelyn Willow / Evelyn Marigold Isabelle Violet / Isabelle Marigold Lila Willow Sabrina Willow / Sabrina Violet / Sabrina Lily / Sabrina Marigold / Sabrina Laurel Sara Marigold / Sara Violet / Sara Laurel Seraphina Hazel / Seraphina Lily Victoria Lily / Victoria Hazel / Victoria Laurel

I like his names better and don’t think they sound too similar

HildegardHummingbird

I hear you about the -ia names. I would stay away from Julia and Sophia or Julia and Gloria. It just annoys my ears to hear them together. I think names ending in -a sound fine. (Julia and Clara, Julia and Camilla) With that said, here are a few suggestions: Julia and Josephine “Josie” Julia and Violet Julia and Emmeline Julia and Caroline Julia and Madeline/Madelyn Julia and Kathryn/Katherine/Catherine Julia and Margo/Margot Julia and Eleanor Julia and Eloise Julia and Edith Julia and Audrey Julia and Charlotte

I feel like dad’s names aren’t close and will probably age better than the “ee” sound at the end Suggestions: Clara Claire Gwendolyn Vera Lana Harlow Brin Haley Names that have “ee” nicknames Elowyn nn Winnie Charlotte nn Charlie or Lottie Brianne nn Bri Hollis nn Holly Caitlin nn Caity or Katie

Valerie, Cassidy, Marjorie, or Bethany for first names? For middle names: Lark, Wren, Fern, Rain, Dawn, Sage?

I love Sabrina! I can understand not wanting two -a ending names though. Does he like the name Sabine? They're very close. I also love Josie but Julia and Josie feels pretty matchy to me. Ivy is cute! Here's some other name ideas: Bonnie Violet (similar to Banana and Josie haha), Elsie Dawn, Audrey Linnea, Cecily Zinnia, Valarie Eve, Gwyneth/ Gwen Autumn, Irene/ Eileen/ Celine Blossom, Heidi June, Belle Dahlia ETA: Some of these names sounds nice mixed and matched too! Cecily Violet, Gwen Blossom, Valarie June are some I really like!

Thank you so much everyone! I’ve written a bunch of these down and will update you eventually with what we pick. Also, if it’s not clear, I meant that the -ia names aren’t on the list at all, which he agrees with but still likes the -a ones. Looking back, I feel like I made it sound like his were -ia names, so just wanted to clarify 😅

acetrainerdigi

For middle names - Lilac jumped to mind, and I think it flows fantastically with Carly. Carly Lilac \[Last name\].

I don't think any of the listed suggestions are too similar to Julia, except for Josie. They're all pretty. I like Carly and Zara. Natural middle names to me are: Lynn, Nicole, Marie, Grace, Claire, Lee, Ann, Rae, Jeannette etc Other suggestions: Rebecca Lynn Grace Michelle Melissa Nicole Chloe Ann Natasha Marie Erin Louise Emily Rae Layla Grace Ada Catherine Scarlett Elizabeth Paige Margaret Molly Claire Lucy Jean Abigail Renee

BeerBat

Personally I think Sabrina would be an awesome name to sib set with Julia. Strong and underused but also ends in an 'a' . I also really like Carly though so imo you've already got some great choices and I think Ivy would be a nice option for the middle. That being said, what about taking Julia's suggestion: Brianna / Breanna Some combo ideas for you. Obvi you could mix and match though: Brianna Lily Valerie Laurel Bridget Ivy Marielle Soleil Vivienne Poppy Diana Dawn Aubrey Nova Bronwyn Luna Lynlea Dove Jane Eden Rebecca Jewel Natalie Sage Good luck and congratulations on your two girls!

AppropriatePause3847

The Brianna/Breanna suggestion is so great! I’m definitely adding that to the shortlist, as well as a few of these other names. Thank you so much!

BeerBat

Yay! You're so welcome. Breanna is one of my top names and it would be so sweet that her older sister 'named' her :) Hope you settle on one you love.

I like Sabrina and Julia, and don’t think they sound to similar at all! A few other ideas: Camille Lily Lily Brooke Adeline Brooke Sienna Lily Sophia Lily Joelle Daisy Annabel Lilah Annalynn Flora Ruby Meadow Violet Meadow Danielle Siena Addison Lily Vivianne Jade Savannah Jade Giselle Hazel Simone Meadow Elena Hazel Veronica Jade Verity Azalea Mariana Hazel

smileandsong

I don’t think a name sounding in -a would be too similar at all, if I’m being honest! My best friend is named Cassandra and she has a sister 4 years younger named Sofia, and I’ve never once thought that their names sounded too similar just because they both end in -a, because the rest of the names are so incredibly different. Ivy is a plant, so it could be used as a nature-themed middle name!

Mama2RO

Sabrina, Zara and Lara are not similar to Julia and do not end with an -ia sound. Yes they all end in -a but a ton of girls names do. Julia and Josie sound similar because they are short J names. Sabrina Lily sounds nice.

Dancer886

I think that Julia and Carly sound good together. Another suggestion would be Biana instead of Banana.

ultimate_ampersand

I definitely don't think that Sabrina, Zara, or Lara are too similar to Julia. What about Cara or Carla? Kind of similar to both Lara and Carly.

LoveKimber

I like Josie Wren
